Read and Engage with Scripture in a Whole New Way! The Books of the Bible™ is a fresh yet ancient presentation of Scripture. As many distractions as possible have been eliminated so readers can experience each book the way its authors intended. No more chapter and verse numbers. No more study notes. No more cross references or footnotes. No more red letters. Natural section breaks have been adjusted to reveal the inherent structure, showing the contours of each book in a way that traditional chapter-and-verse Bibles do not. The books of the Bible are arranged in an order that helps you see the unfolding drama more easily and book introductions are included to prepare you for a more in-depth reading experience. These “invitations” tell the story behind the story, unlocking the context of the book you’re about to read. The Books of the Bible uses Scripture from the New International Version (NIV), an accurate, readable and clear translation with the goal of delivering the same Bible reading experience today that the first recipients of Scripture would have had in their native languages. In The Books of the Bible, New Testament readers will enter the story of Jesus, his church, and his return. The Writings is part 3 (of 4) of The Books of the Bible series, which is a part of the church wide-campaign, The Community Bible Experience® . The Bible books included

I finished this book today. It was the last of the four book series that our church group was reading together. (Note we did not read the four books in order). I loved this series as it is soooooo much easier to read than the previous versions of the Bible, yet it doesn't leave anything out or twist the stories in any way. I highly recommend these books. Our study group also used a CD included with the study that gives information on each of the books as interpreted by theological scholars. We also followed the Bible Project available on Youtube. This is a sort of "comic strip" version of each book. It offers considerable insight to each book and makes them even more understandable.
This is the third instalment of the Books of the Bible project featuring Psalms Lamentations Song of Songs Proverbs Ecclesiastes Job Chronicles-Ezra-Nehemiah Esther Daniel. Although the order of the books did mess me up a little bit and it was very difficult to read Psalms without the breaks, it was still a great way to go through the Bible. I didn't get to many of the Community Bible Experience meetings for this one (in fact, come to think of it, I might not have gone to any), so I missed the reading together component, but I would recommend this series to anyone!
I love reading this version of the Scriptures. This will be the Bible that l read from now on. I highly recommend it to anyone if you really want to gain understanding of the message of the Bible.
This version of the NIV comes in four volumes, this is volume three. I found out about it when our church last year went through volume four, the New Testament, as the Community Bible Experience. The idea is that everyone reads the same passages over a period of time and the church teachings were based on the corresponding passages. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the other three volumes and have now finished all four. I love the layout, it is single column, reads like an ordinary book and doesn’t have chapters or verses numbered. Also the books are arranged in a slightly different order from the usual traditional one, they are grouped in chronological order and style of writing for example this is classified as “The Writings” and has Psalms, Proverbs Ecclesiastes etc. I found it very good and easy reading although Chronicles is still a hard read. I highly recommend this style and when I buy my next Bible it will definitely be single column.
I've read a few different "reader's bibles" and am a big fan of the stripped back formatting. Getting rid of the visual clutter helps to transform the reading experience into something much more enjoyable and naturally encourages reading longer passages, which is sorely needed in our sound bite world.
I like that these ones are hardback, they are nice to hold and read opening all the way and lying pretty flat.
Excellent in this series. Includes in this order: Psalms, Lamentations, Song of Songs, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job, Chronicles-Ezra-Nehemiah, Esther, Daniel.
