I am reviewing the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls. Before I get started I have to say that I received a copy of the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls from Zondervan (HarperCollins Christian Publishing) for this review. This post is sponsored by Zondervan.

Ok, now that the legal part is out of the way lets get on with this review.

Overall, I give this Bible a B. That sounds really odd to write because this is a Bible, so I can't really comment on content being that it is breathed by God. But go with me here...

The point of this version of the Bible, what makes it different, are the illustrations to color. I think they are fine, but not spectacular. They are literally just verses from the Bible written out or doodled. I am a BIG fan of meditating on scripture and I find coloring is an excellent way to do that especially for people that may be more introspective by nature. In fact, I own two other coloring Bibles and I love them. I could see girls really enjoying the coloring portions of this Bible simply because it gives them something to do with their hands.

So then, why do I give this Bible a B rating instead of an A?

My concern is that the makers of this Bible made coloring the priority rather than knowing and understanding the Word of God. The reason that I say this is because there is very little to help the reader to understand the complexity of the Bible or even to know where to find it. There are no topical index or maps, but do not worry, there is a list of every illustration and who did it. This is a coloring book disguised as a way to deepen faith. If you purchase this Bible for a young girl in your life you should also purchase a topical index or a study Bible so that she can understand why the verses that she is coloring matter. We want our girls to understand scripture and take it to heart, not just use it to decorate.

Today's publishers are providing a wonderful choice of Bibles that had added appeal to children and teens as well as adults. A variety of versions, such as the NIV, provide readability for young folks. I personally prefer the King James Version but am glad that God's Word is proliferating.

In this Beautiful Word™ Coloring Bible for Girls young girls will find a joy and pleasure in studying God's Word and focusing on key ideas and key verses via the drawings which they can color. So this Bible is illustrated, but the girl provides the colors. A good design and one to capture a girl's heart just as we wish for her heart to be captured and fall in love with God's Word.

I received a complimentary copy to review. Opinions are mine, alone and freely given. Zondervan is publisher for this Bible

This beautifully illustrated Bible will delight and inspire any young lady as they dig deeper into God's Word.

The bright color grabs your attention but it's the art and highlighted verses within the pages that are sure to delight the young Bible student. Good sized margins to fill in with notes and the font and NIV translation makes it easy to read and understand.

The perfect Bible for girls ages 8-15 that will likely become a keepsake for many years after.

NIV BEAUTIFUL WORD COLORING BIBLE FOR GIRLS is beyond amazing! It is very heavy, so probably will be hard for those with weakened wrists or arms to hold but even though this book says it is for tweens, I love it and I know that other adults will as well!

My almost sixteen year old daughter loves it too and wants her own copy of this Bible. Pink is only one of the colors it comes in, so if your daughter isn't into pink you can get it in white, teal, and other colors. It also comes in other versions, such as KJV.

There are plenty of lined space for note taking, black and while illustrations of verses to color as you reflect over them, the necessary ribbon marker, and it lies flat while open! The only negative is that maps are not included (I love maps) and the words of Jesus are not in red if you like that.

This Bible would make a girl squealy happy if she found it under the tree for Christmas. It will even delight adults. I seriously love this Bible.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

I own a few coloring Bibles, and I love them. Those are the NLT translation, so I was interested in checking out one in a different translation, in this case, the NIV Bible.

The Bible definitely catches your eye with its bright pink color with silver polka dots. It will likely delight many girls, of varying ages.

The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is a fun addition to the growing trend of journaling Bibles. Prior to receiving this copy, I had never owned a journaling type Bible. I love that throughout the Bible, there are beautiful illustrations for coloring and lines for journaling or taking notes. I like the title NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls because it indicates that as we spend time in Scripture, we will walk away seeing Christ as more beautiful. One of the aspects I appreciate most about this Bible is how it is designed to appeal to girls. I plan to gift my copy to my oldest daughter once she is older because I know this a resource she will use and love. I believe that spending time coloring in illustrations with Bible verses will help her to memorize Scripture which I’m excited about. As far as translations go, the NIV isn’t my personal preference but I do believe it offers merit especially for younger Bible readers. The NIV is more of a thought for thought translation than a word for word translation. I prefer word for word because it tends to give readers a closer idea of what was expressed in the original Biblical texts which were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. However, the NIV does seem to communicate Scripture in a way that may be easier for younger readers to understand.
Zondervan, the publisher of the NIV Bible, received much backlash years ago when they opted to update the text of the 1984 NIV that many American Christians were familiar with to a version called Today’s New International Version (TNIV). When this translation was initially introduced, there was an uproar amongst many Christians against the gender-neutral terms it contained. Changing the terms that were used in the 1984 edition also changed the meaning of some Biblical texts which is troubling considering that God has chosen to reveal Himself to us in His Word (John 1:1, Revelation 19:13), He doesn’t change (Hebrews 13:8), and we are not to add to His word (Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 12:32, Proverbs 30:6, Hebrews 1:1-2, Revelation 22:18). Amidst the backlash, Zondervan decided to do away with the TNIV. I decided to look up some verses in the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls and it appears to be free of the changes that were included in the TNIV. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls contains a copyright date of 2011 so it won’t be the same 1984 translation that many are familiar with. Since it does appear to be free of the changes included in TNIV, I am comfortable with my daughter reading it. The illustrations in the Bible are beautifully hand lettered. I am grateful to Zondervan for including an Index at the back of the Bible which lists the artists who created the illustrations. I follow Lindsay of Lindsay Letters on Instagram and suspected that some of the work was hers so it was fun to learn that it, indeed, is. Some aspects of journaling and coloring Bibles that ought to receive consideration are appropriateness and placement. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls contains an illustration for Revelation 8:11 with a mermaid’s tail which struck me as odd considering the Bible is real and true and mermaids are not. Revelation 8:11 (ESV) states, “The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.” The illustration for this verse only contains the words, “A third of the waters turned bitter. . . “. While the illustration is cute and fun the verse is about people dying so the illustration has the potential to be misleading. A few pages over, there is an illustration with a dragon for Revelation 12:9. This didn’t seem as odd to me since this particular verse mentions a dragon in reference to Satan. Overall, I really like the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls. I believe this edition of the NIV Bible is great for young girls because it will help them to see Jesus as beautiful. I believe that this side of eternity, we are able to enjoy and appreciate beauty as we understand that it points us back to Jesus, the One who is truly beautiful. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is beautifully crafted and makes a great Christmas gift for young ladies desiring to know more about God. My daughter has seen me read and annotate in my Bibles since she was born. When she was about three, I caught her “writing” all over one of her illustrated Bibles. It made my heart happy because I knew she was trying to be like mommy! When Bella turned 6, she asked for a “real” Bible, so my husband and I bought her a Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for girls. At 6, the Bible was still too advanced for her, but she loved to sit next to me while I was reading and annotating and work in hers. She has written and colored all over her book. All of this to say, my daughter and I have a lot of experience with this fantastic Bible for girls. Having one the past 18 months has been a real blessing to both me and Bella. She is working on creating a foundational relationship with God, and I am loving watching her “annotate” and color.

PROS — What Bella and I like the MOST
Tons of journaling space! If you write a lot of notes and thoughts and prayers in the side margins of your Bibles, this is a Bible for you.
Great coloring pages. Some are full-page coloring pages, and some are side-margin coloring spots. All coloring pages illustrate key Bible verses.
When there are notes at the bottom of a page, they are very helpful. As a mom, I like these notes because they help my daughter understand what she is reading a little better.
The text is easy to read. I am a fan of ESV translations, but that is way too difficult a translation for my almost-eight-year-old. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is perfect for her. I have Bella read to me, and so far, she hasn’t had any real struggles with the language in this text.

CONS — What Bella and I don’t like
We don’t have any CONS!

The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is an excellent starter Bible for girls, and I highly recommend it. What an excellent gift to give to your daughter or granddaughter this Christmas!

My Review:

Like I have said in previous posts, coloring book items are the trend these days. Bibles have recently become part of this trend, as well as devotionals. This gorgeous Bible is next on the list and it has tons of features, besides the coloring book portion. The first thing you notice is the beautiful teal leathersoft cover. The coloring pages are many and they are more geared towards a younger female. In the Bible there is a place for plenty of notes in the margin.

With just over 1400 pages this is a somewhat heavy Bible. But is perfect for a large tote or to carry in and and the type of cover it has makes it a good, sturdy Bible. This Bible would made the perfect gift for a girl ages 8-12 years old.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.

Journaling Bibles are all the rage these days. The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is a must have. The cover is a gorgeous hardback leathersoft cover that is sturdy and durable. It comes into colors: a teal with flowers or bright pink with polka dots. I have the bright pink with polka dots.

I volunteer with the kids at my church and I love coloring so I knew I had to check it out. This is a great way to encourage young girls to use the Bible journaling and art as a tool to meditate on the Word of God. There are hundreds of pages to color so it will keep kids busy for a while. The drawings are simple and relaxing. Not overwhelming. Heck, I am 27-years-old, about to turn 28 next month, and I am totally using this for myself! Drawing is not a skill set that the Lord has given me, so I’m ecstatic about the illustrations.

I usually use colored pencils when I use Bibles like this, but I’ve been using Crayola and CrazyArt markers because I love the way the ink looks on the pages. The pages are thick enough that you don’t need to worry about the ink bleeding through. I do have some pages where some spots can be seen, but not overly terrible. Also, markers don’t cover any of the text unless using a darker color. This is a great Bible no matter what tools you enjoy to use to create. There are also tons of space for the reader to add their own artwork or journaling notes.

Overall, I’m super excited about this Bible. This is the main Bible that I’ve been using with the kids I teach. The kids love it! I’ve caught my kids peeking at my Bible to see what I’ve colored each week. Even the boys think the pages are awesome.

Highly recommended!

I got the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls for my oldest daughter, but I really want one for myself! The gorgeous pink with silver polka-dot cover is Leathersoft over board, giving it a sturdy, durable feel. For convenience, there is a built-in bookmark and lay-flat binding, making it easier to color. I do recommend using colored pencils, not crayons or markers. Even with colored pencils, some color will show through the pages. However, I think the publisher made a good balance between paper thickness and total weight. This Bible is fairly heavy for a children’s book and with thicker pages, it might have been too heavy.

There are many illustrations in the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls. In shorter books, especially the New Testament epistles which have many quotable passages, nearly every page spread features at least one coloring opportunity. In the longer books, the coloring portions, while still plentiful, are more spaced out. Pages without illustrations have lines on the sides for taking notes or writing down thoughts.

As noted in the title, this Bible does use the NIV translation. It does not include any commentary or devotional thoughts. I personally like this as it omits the denominational/societal biases that sometime accompany commentaries.

I recommend the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls to caregivers of girls ages 8 and up. It would be excellent for the child who is old enough to listen to the sermon, but needs a little something (coloring or taking notes) to prevent boredom and aid focus. Five stars!

My Thoughts on the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls:
While I’ve always bought KJV or NKJV Bibles for my kids the concept of a coloring Bible was such a neat and unique one to me that I knew this NIV Bible would have a place in our home. I have seven girls so I definitely knew I had one who could use this!

I decided to give it to my 9-year-old daughter. She was ready for a bigger kid Bible and this would be a bit easier to understand than the KJV that I had planned on getting for her. She loved that it was pink of course and dove right in.

For this Bible you know they’re getting some good verses in them. My daughter has actually memorized all the ones she’s colored because you’re spending so much time reading and thinking on that verse while coloring it in. She’s also being extremely careful while coloring because it is a Bible and we’ve instilled the need to be careful and reverent with God’s word in our children.

If you’re interested in viewing a few pages click HERE to download some free coloring pages!

We highly recommend this Bible. I’m now on the hunt for some other versions to gift to my other daughters. They, of course, don’t all want to have the same exact Bible as it would get confusing. Right now it’s available to purchase in teal or pink. We received the pink for this review so I’m buying a teal for my other 9-year-old daughter. You can find them HERE!

This would be a great last-minute Christmas gift for the tween or teen girl in your life. Or, if you’re an adult woman like me you might also like a copy!

A nice Bible for girls

I really like this Bible!

It has a fun cover that has a leather-like feel yet it has a hard binding that seems like it would hold up to a little bit of abuse, which I am assuming it will get at the hands of a younger girl.

I also like the way it lays pretty flat – with as many pages as it has, though, flat is a relative term. As mentioned in the description, the paper is a little thicker than in my other Bibles and seems like it would hold up well to note taking and coloring.

The verses for coloring are well distributed throughout the Bible. The pages that do not have verses are ruled in the margins which would make it very nice for note-taking. I will note that the lines are fairly small, maybe college-ruled. Personally, I love that, though I imagine it might be a little difficult to stay in the lines for a younger child.

There are standard NIV footnotes on each of the pages but no other study guides. In fact, other than the NIV introduction, the only other “guide” is a table of weights and measures at the end. There are no maps or concordance.

Though it is designed for girls up to age 12, I can see older teens and young adults enjoying it as well. I’m actually wondering if I want one for myself! Of course, Zondervan figured that out and has several versions of the Bible for different ages.

Remember when you were told that you shouldn't write or mark in books? I grew up thinking that books are precious and Bibles are holy and they should never be defaced. As an adult I did begin to highlight verses in my Bible and often write notes in the margins but I still didn't doodle randomly! Recently, however, coloring has become the craze for adults and there have been many books published that offer pictures to color. Now, there are journaling Bibles with illustrations and it is okay to write and color in our Bibles!

A new offering for young people is the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls and this Bible is designed especially for girls 8 and up. It is filled with God's Word in both text and illustrations. I especially like this New International Version because it is easy to understand and the black penned verses are gorgeous. There are several different artists who have contributed these drawings and I appreciate that their names are listed in an index in the back.

I am excited about this hardcover Bible and I recommend it for anyone who has a girl in their life. There is nothing that can rival the opportunity to learn more about God's Word but this Bible also makes it fun! What young girl wouldn't be proud to have this special Bible for their very own?

For the purposes of this review I would like to discuss the illustrations and structure of the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls rather than the content.

There are 500 verses to color from ten different artists. If you want to know the names of the artists and the specific pages where their artwork appears, you can look in the back of the Bible. I really like this feature so you can see if their work holds a common theme or just fits the verse they are illustrating.

I love the fact the cover is quite sturdy with a leathersoft cover and cute silver polka dots. The ribbon is a nice added feature to keep track of where you are in the Bible. And the book lays flat either on your desk for when you are coloring or on your lap for when you are reading which is another great feature.

I would recommend the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls for anyone who is interested in a coloring Bible. It makes a very nice addition to our bookshelves and Bible Study time.

If you have been looking for a bible for a girl your search is over. This bible has everything that will encourage a child to read and enjoy the bible. The beautifully designed bible is sturdy and will last for generations to come. I think this would be the perfect gift to give a girl and have them pass it on to their daughter or niece. I love the pictures on the side of the pages where they can be colored with vividness and imagination.

I love the bookmark that is attached to the bible that can be used to mark a page to come back to. Can you see the smile on a girls face as she discovers the bible in a new way that is easy for her to understand and interact with? There is also places on some of the pages where notes can be placed as they study their bible. The bible is NIV which is easy to understand. I really enjoy the thought put into the illustrations and how they enhance scriptures. I highly recommend this bible for girls 8-12 years old.

Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls, is just what the cover says, a beautiful word Bible for girls to treasure. The feel of the cover alone makes this bible so special, then you open it to find the beautiful pictures to color inside! I myself, felt like it was something that could be enjoyed beyond the ages of 8 to 12 years old. I'm sure a teen would love to have this also.

This a NIV Bible that comes along with stickers and coloring pencils. I know how older children can get during church and during those times they could actually color beautiful Bible passages. Learning while doodling is perfect! There is also a place for notes when they hear something that speaks to their heart.

A great keepsake that any girl would love to have. What a wonderful gift for Christmas or Birthday for some special girl.

First, a note of explanation. Although I’ve read through the Bible several times, I did not read through this whole Bible in two days. 😊 I did, however, go through this Bible and look at the illustrations and features, and that’s what this review will cover.

This beautiful Bible will have great appeal to young ladies. The cover is beautiful, with silver spots on pink. This is a substantial cover and has a leather-like feel to it. It opens up flat for reading and coloring. The illustrations of the verses are eye-catching. The pages are thick enough that, using colored pencils, there should be very little bleed through on the other pages. On most pages, there’s room for notes and journaling. Even if there’s a young lady who would not want to color or journal, the Bible would appeal to them, too.

I like the fact that as the girls are coloring the pages, they are spending time reading and thinking about the verse they are working on. That’s a good way to hide Scripture in their hearts. I also think this could become a wonderful keepsake Bible as they grow older. I’m going to be giving one of these as a Christmas gift and will likely purchase another one in the future.

This is an absolutely magnificent bible for girls, really of any age with the ability to read and understand its text, especially preteen girls with creative interests and skills. Its pages provide ample lined margins and ready-to-color line art for readers to take notes, color, and draw. This allows readers to really personalize their bible. The art in this book is stunning and the pages are thicker than those seen in most other bibles, to prevent notes and markings from bleeding through the pages. I really love this bible and cannot say enough good things about it. I highly recommend the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls as a Christmas or birthday gift.

My 11-year-old daughter loves to make art, and it’s time to upgrade her Bible from a little girl version. That’s why I love this new option from Zondervan. It is perfect for tweens and teens who need a bit more sophisticated Bible that is still highly interactive.

Several different artists contributed to the illustrations in this Bible. The various styles lend interest and joy. Almost every page has at least one illustration. Pages without illustrations have plentiful space for taking notes or making new doodles or Bible journaling entries. Your daughter, granddaughter or niece will love the variety of illustrations to help her hide God’s Word in her heart.

I received a preview copy of the pink imitation leather version from Zondervan. You can also order this Bible with a teal cover.

I have been curious about a coloring Bible after seeing photos shared on social media but I never considered just how wonderful and beautiful it can truly be. This Bible proved just how wrong I was and how perfect it is for a young girl to not only read the word but to color as she studies the Bible either on her own or sharing her creativity and knowledge with her family and friends. This is one of the most beautiful Bibles I have ever seen.

If you or a loved one happen to be looking for a special gift for a special young lady, this is just perfect for a meaningful and thoughtful gift.

The NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls is such a wonderful edition for the girl in your life. As soon as this Bible arrived in the mail, my 11 year-old began paging through it and exclaiming over the verses that were printed in the margins and all ready to be colored. I love that this edition has extra wide margins that provide great space for girls to color and write in. Also, the paper is thick so that it does not leak through, that is my most favorite feature! Being that this Bible is the NIV edition, it is easier for kids and teens to read and understand than some other editions and the pretty cover draws them to it. I love seeing my daughter spending time coloring and learning the verses that have been made into art. I highly recommend this Bible!

This book is lovely and sure to be enjoyed by the girls in your life. A pretty pink with silver dots and matching silver ribbon marker, the book feels very nice. It is slightly on the large side; rather thick due to the extra pages but it’s fine. With a lot of verses to color, this will be extremely helpful in memorizing scripture. It is a reference edition, so that is a nice feature for older girls (10 and up).

All in all a great tool to help your child learn the Word, and to be excited doing it.

I have read through the Bible several times but I did not read through this entire Bible in just the few weeks I've had it.

I have a coloring Bible and I love it! I have nothing but great things to say about this Bible. I think it's a great way to get girls interested in studying the Bible as well as give them a creative way to express themselves. When I was a kid my mom frowned at me highlighting and writing in my Bible. I would've loved having this Bible.

So my oldest daughter (pictured above, the day the bible arrived) has had TONS of fun devotional time with this Bible. It is in the ever readable and understandable NIV. So from mama's perspective. It is very pretty and eye-catching. And because it falls into the journaling bible category, each page that does not have artwork has lines for notetaking. The bible is a lay-flat so its easy to take notes and color the artwork. The artwork is VERY beautifully done and strategically placed throughout the bible. It's not too much or too few.

We love it, I think it is definitely worth investing for my other girls once they get old enough to really appreciate it.

I received a copy of the NIV Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls from Zondervan (HarperCollins Christian Publishing) for this review. Opinions shared are mine.

Some of the pages contain space for notes, too. Lines are provided for note-taking and journaling.

I love that this Bible is in the NIV format. When the verses mentioned in church or Bible study come from the NIV, you’ll want your girl to be able to participate by reading from the same version.

The Beautiful Word Coloring Bible for Girls makes such a lovely gift! It’s also available in a gender-neutral version. Though it's marketed for girls ages 8-12, I think adult women and teens would enjoy using it, too.

This Bible is absolutely beautiful. I want to color and take notes in it.

Although the Word of God should be enough to draw us to the Bible sometimes, with children, they need a little encouragement and this book gives it to them.

If you are looking for a gift for that special young lady in your life this would be a great one. Not only will they be in God’s Word by they can color it and color pictures that go along with it, or if this is up your alley then go for it!

Any little girl would treasure this hard bound coloring Bible. I think coloring and journaling are such a great way to get closer to the Lord. Coloring is terrific for beginners and craft challenged people (like me). While coloring a passage I find that i really meditate on God's word and this is a great way to memorize verses. There are full pages to color and book mark sized pages in the margins to color. Plus there are lines in the margins to take notes, journal, or draw.
Thanks to the publisher for a free copy, I was not required to leave a review.

I loved this full length bible with fun and insightful verses to color in. As parents, we want to encourage our girls to carry their bibles to church, open, and of course dive deep into the word. Coloring is the new relaxing way to clear your mind and have the word of God take root in your heart.

Highly recommend.

I can't say how gorgeous this Bible is! My daughter is over the moon for the coloring AND that is directly geared to her age and stage. I love this! Thank you, Zondervan, for sending an ARC our way for review!
