The best book I have read this year! Last January my goal was to read the entire Bible in a year, and read it daily. Today I completed that goal! If anyone is looking for a place to start, I highly suggest The Bible Recap. Great reading plan. Looking forward to digging deeper into God's word this year!
This Bible is just amazing! I am amazed at the vast amount of information that is included in this book. I have never owned a study Bible geared towards women and I am very happy to own one now. It highlights many of the women of the Bible, describing them further. It also includes articles on many topics that many people struggle with and face…tears, distress, childbirth, employment, giving, death, weight control. There are many maps, tables, and diagrams sprinkled throughout the Bible that will be very helpful. I was excited to find a diagram of the various Millenial Views in the book of Revelation. There are a lot of great visual aids like this that help the reader learn more about the text. There is commentary at the bottom of each page but not for every verse. I would like a bit more of the commentary but there are so many other features that it seems that there wasn’t enough room. The text size is not too small and Jesus’ words are highlighted in red. The Bible is full color, which is definitely a plus. There are some very pretty floral designs on the opening pages of the books. I’m not a huge fan of the design on the cover of the book. It’s just not my personal style but I think many women would find it appealing. Although I own another study Bible, I think this will be my go-to study Bible. I highly recommend this to all women. My Rating: 5 stars I received this book from Booklook Bloggers to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I wish I could say I finished this whole thing. It’s beautifully written. I really enjoyed it. I will read it again and again. I read it here and there not all the way through. I would recommend it to women. It’s a thoughtful read.
I really enjoyed this study bible. The extra inserts and explanations were phenomenal. I cannot wait to dive even deeper with it in my bible studies in the new year.
I finally finished reading the entire Bible tonight. God is great. Amen. 12/8/21: I was unsatisfied with my short review, so I decided to add more. I began reading this Bible after my mother's encouragement to develop my faith a few months into the pandemic. I remember waking up early morning, squinting my sleepy eyes, and slowly processing the words. I am not going to lie and say that I understood every sentence; it was complex and hard to follow many times, and I found myself going past those confusing parts. In my second round of Bible reading, I will take a note to scrutinize every verse more. Also, I will need to read a book on how to get most out of reading the Bible. I ordered a different Bible version, and it will be arriving this week. I heard it's recommended to read many versions of the Bible due to content that gets lost in translations. My bible reading habit is a gentle yet powerful way for me to start the day, and I'm thankful to God for this. Amen.
It was my first time reading the Bible. Highly recommend it. I chose to read this version because I’m dyslexic and I knew it would be hard for me to keep up with it. It’s a pretty Bible and the same format throughout and a good font size, which helped me focus. I did read most of the study notes. Some were really good, some were annoying because it didn’t explain anything, just reworded what was written and some verses were completely skipped that I thought really needed some more explanation. Overall I would definitely recommend this version of the Bible to a woman who is also a beginner with reading the Bible.
A beautiful cover and even more wonderful on the inside this book brings light and colorful ways for women to study together. It is perfect for group study or even if you just want some alone time. You get a sense of how other females think and feel when interpreting God and how they use the Bible to gain strength, knowledge and wisdom. You get a gift when you take the time to open its pages and explore.
I love everything about this Bible. The charts are amazing, and the focus on women in the Bible is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend this version. There is so much in it that it can even be used as a group study. It highlights God's love and devotion to His beloved daughters and women. And also highlights women who reject him and the consequences. This Bible is informative and includes thoughtful nuggets for well-know women, adding a special touch.
When I was asked to join a group of women who were using The Bible Recap to read the Bible through, every chapter, every verse, and every word, I couldn’t say no. I purchased this new Bible to use during the process and I have really enjoyed it. It has been challenging to keep up at times, but I will finish on Dec 31. He’s where the joy is!
This New International Version of the Bible with notes, commentary, and articles on women is fascinating. The extra material is very readable, informative and thought-provoking. I used it to prepare a presentation for a women’s retreat. It’s not meant to be read cover to cover but you could.
I just can’t believe I finished the Bible!!!!!!!!! This book completely changed my life! I can now confirm I have a relationship with God. It’s impossible to try to have a deep relationship with the Creator without reading his word. God is good 🙌🏻🫶🏻🙏🏻
My goal in 2025 was to read the Bible cover to cover. I have always enjoyed reading, so I don't know why it took me so long to fully read God's word. It was an amazing experience and has ignited my passion to really study and know the text. 10 out of 10 recommend!
A beautiful and educational version geared towards women. The footnotes and additional sidebars and boxes really enhance the reading experience and provide much insight to the verses.

MY THOUGHTS
My Reactions What drew me to this Bible is how it is a study Bible designed for women. This is an attractive Bible that includes full-color floral illustrations and font that make it pleasing to read. It encourages me while reading in this study Bible. Furthermore, it provides commentary through study tools that have been created with women in mind. More focus is placed on the women that appear in the Bible and on the circumstances that shaped their life. The study tools also provide information that are relevant to our lives today and which provide parallels between our lives and the lives of woman in biblical times. For example, one article in Genesis provides information on cooking during the time of the patriarchs. This helped me to get a better idea of the domestic lives of the Israelites and relate it to my family’s cooking customs today.
What are you overall feelings towards this particular Bible? Is it easy to use? This is a beautiful Bible that is easy to use and encourages me in my Bible reading. The study tools and commentary are relevant and strategically placed to illuminate biblical truths.
Are the study tools helpful and informative? Does the commentary convey Biblical truth? I like how the study tools are targeted towards women. They provide a different insight into biblical truths compared to the ones found in other study Bibles and commentaries. This helps me to understand the Bible better from a woman's perspective.
Is the Bible durable? I'm reading in the hardback edition of this Bible. The hardcover feels durable, but the pages are cheap and low quality. The imitation leather edition might have higher quality paper. If you're looking for a more affordable edition and don't mind the low paper quality, however, the hardback edition is priced more affordably.
Do you like the typeface and print in general? The font for the biblical and is large and readable, but the font for the commentary is on the small side. That said, I know footnotes and articles inserted into a text are typically smaller, so it's not unexpected. I do love how the chapter headings are colored and in a different font. It's beautiful and encourages me while reading in this Bible.
Would you recommend this particular Bible to others? I would recommend this particular Bible if you are looking for a Study Bible that is designed with women in mind. It provides especial focus on the women in the Bible and in drawing parallels between their lives and our lives today. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for more critical commentary on the Bible or one that with a linguistics focus.
I love study Bibles! One of my favorite things to do is sit at my desk or relax in bed, surrounded by Bibles, studying God's word. The newest addition to my library is the NIV Woman's Study Bible by Thomas Nelson. I have the beautiful pink cloth over board cover, with a white design on the front cover that looks like a flower. The spine has "The Woman's Study Bible", "NIV" and the Thomas Nelson logo. It has a sewn binding, and two double sided satin ribbons. The ribbons are a pale pink and a cream color. There is no page gilding, and a pink paste down liner. It has a sewn binding.
Once you open up this Bible, you will see a readable 10.5 point font. This is larger than most other study Bibles, and is one of the many positive aspects of this Bible! Before you get into the scripture, there is the Ketubah (marriage contract), family history, special family memories, and my spiritual mothers pages. It also includes a table of contents, and four articles (God Cares for Women, The Balanced Life: Reconciling Personal Faith with Practicing Dogma, What They Left Behind: Women, Archaeology, and the Bible, and Women and Children in Biblical Narrative.
Each book begins with a book introduction, that talks about the author, date that the book was written, the background (setting, audience, purpose, and literary characteristics), and themes. There is also an outline of each book. The scripture is in a double column format, with bold chapter numbers. The headings are in red print, in script. The study notes are in a smaller font, I would guess around a 7 point font. It has a full color design, which keeps me engaged when reading. In addition to the verse by verse study notes at the bottom of each page that you expect to see in a study Bible, this Bible also includes biographical portraits of Biblical women, over 300 in text articles, essays by other women, and quotes from women throughout history. This is a red letter Bible, which is not my preference, but Thomas Nelson does a good job keeping the red print dark and readable. The Bible ends with a table of weights and measures, acknowledgements, index, concordance, and seven full color maps.
This Bible is available in the NIV and NKJV, in a variety of different covers. The beautiful pink cover that I have will be available on February 9th!
If you are looking for a women's study Bible, this is the perfect choice! It is easy to read, colorful, and packed full of notes and information! I am using it as I work through a Bible study of the promises of God, and I am excited to continue to learn and grow in God's word! I received a copy of this Bible from Thomas Nelson, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
First off, let me say that this Bible is thick! I mean, of all the Bibles I’ve received thus far, this is the largest. Roughly 2″ thick and heavy, weight over three pounds. Doesn’t seem like a lot, but the last Bible I reviewed was barely 2 pounds. It’s packed full of Scripture-based insights. Just note: This is not a Bible that lends well to carrying to church or Bible study. Instead, this is the perfect Bible for home study and private reflection.
The front pages include a ketubah marriage contract along with an explanation of its significance, family history pages (this lends itself well as a family Bible), spaces for noted special events and dates, and spiritual mothers/mentors. As with most Bibles, this one includes an introduction and table of contents. Each book is given a separate introduction, background, and outline (with scripture locations noted). The font is a good size for reading, standard size. Throughout the books, there are thought-provoking quotes. This truly is a study Bible. Almost each holds supplemental information along with the reading. Colorful maps are placed in important sections, such as the journey of Moab. There are family trees, like the tree of King Saul. I enjoy the parts that focus on a specific individual in the Bible. For example, this Bible includes information on Bathsheba, how the scandalous adultery overshadowed one simple fact: that she was the mother of the wisest king of Israel.
The appendix includes weights and measures table, as well as a huge index as a reference guide to the special features. While the features do focus a lot on individuals and information helpful for women, it solely a women’s only Bible. It provides food for thought of reading through the entire Word of God. From Joseph’s preparation for leadership to Paul’s missionary journey’s, there’s a lot of in-depth studies to really get to the meat of the Word. This Bible should have a special place in everyone’s home for reading daily. It shouldn’t look pretty over the years but should be worn, read and well loved. If you know of anyone that’s desired to get more out of reading the Bible than just the “read in a year” challenge, this would be it. I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Do you love exploring new editions of the Bible, sometimes in different versions and usually with different distinguishing features? I know I do! The newest Bible that I’ve had the pleasure of using is “The Woman’s NIV Study Bible: Receiving God’s Truth for Balance, Hope, and Transformation”. Published by Thomas Nelson in 2018, this lovely edition was edited by Dorothy Kelley Patterson and Rhonda Harrington Kelley, and is truly a keepsake Bible that will become a treasured possession to many women.
One of the main reasons I wanted to try a new study Bible is for the book introductions - and this edition has excellent ones! Each book opens with a brief explanation of author, date, background, themes, and a very useful outline of the entire book. As you flip to the first verses of the book itself, you will notice there are study notes at the bottom of the page to further explain or reference certain verses, but they are not as numerous as some other editions (for which I am thankful, because I find this can be distracting). Maps, diagrams, and other visual aids are also plentiful within the pages, but not too many so as to take away from the text itself. Inserts of topical, short, devotional-style teachings about people, events, and themes are placed near relevant verses and add some thought-provoking ideas and interesting questions to our daily Bible reading.
The elegant appearance of this Bible is another appealing feature, as well as its ease of use and medium size. The font is also a nice size, not too small and easy on the eyes, as to be very enjoyable to read. The Bible falls open nicely, and the pages are thick and not easily torn, while the sturdy hardcover and interior decorations are a pretty floral print which add even more to the appeal.
In the end, I am delighted with my “Woman’s NIV Study Bible”. Perfect for both in-depth study and everyday use, I know this lovely volume will be on my daily reading shelf for years to come. If you are looking for a new Bible, I definitely recommend giving this wonderful edition a try.
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is a beautiful Bible. It is wonderful for personal use or to give as a gift to others. You can feel that this was made for women.
Here are some of the way information is packed into this Bible:
There are tables and charts throughout the pages organizing information, or expounding upon it. I loved the table that shared about the flowers in the Bible. These tables and charts share information that makes the stories you are reading clearer, and also richer and deeper.
At the bottom of every page are notes that help the reader further understand what is being shared as well as some cross references.
Before each book of the Bible there are notes about the author, date, background, themes, and an outline of what is to come. This is helpful as you begin to go through and study yourself.
There is an index, concordance, and maps at the back of the Bible.
Beyond this the Bible is very ascetically appealing. The Bible is full of soft colors and floral prints that are soft and not bold. I like to linger in the pages and enjoy not only the Words of Scripture but the layout, font, quotes, and other pieces that make this Bible so appealing.
I highly recommend this Bible for yourself or as a gift.
I received this Bible from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I received this Bible in a leather format, which is how I prefer Bibles, and this one is stunning!! I have this Bible in the NKJV version in leather and it is just as beautiful. The color pages are so nice in this Bible and I especially like the layout. This Bible comes to life in color making the Bible easy to read and more appealing to the reader, especially understanding it. It has many maps, indexes, charts and footnotes. I think this Bible would make a great gift for someone, but it would not be my main Bible for study. It is a gorgeous Bible and perfect to bring to Bible studies or to use, but for hardcore studying and wanting to dig deeper daily. I would suggest this for someone who is trying to understand the basics of the Bible, this is a great tool for that. Overall, I think this is a nice Bible and has a lot of great tools to help believers in their walk. It will stand the test of time because of its amazing quality and I love the leathe brown navy blue. You cannot go wrong with this Bible! Make sure to pick up the leather edition! You will love it!

My favorite Woman's Bible - full of thought provoking questions, spotlights of women of the Bible and an easy to read typeface. I have the softcover edition and gift the hardcover edition to a friend.
