I liked this book significantly better than his first. It felt much less "look how cool I am" and much more "look how amazing Jesus is." I'd say it's more of a 3.5 for me, although I can see how it has received many 4 star reviews. I couldn't go that high because the author is still fairly irritating to me - his social media is annoyingly focused on what's hip and cool. But I do think this book is capable of helping people develop stronger spiritual lives and I think that's great.
I love Chad Veach as a communicator but I just couldn’t get into this book. Maybe I’m just not in the season he’s describing, or maybe it’s just too simple of a book for me, but I just never found my groove here. I wish I liked it more, because I love the topic and discussion! Just not the writing so much.
Have you ever had a dream that just didn’t work out, for whatever reason? Mine was to be God’s gift to the world of speculative fiction. Needless to say, that didn’t pan out — so here I am blogging, usually about Christian books. I have to wonder if that all was a part of God’s master plan for me all along, to speak what I feel are His truths into words. Ambling along here into my life comes Faith Forward Future, a Christian guide to disappointment, basically. The book is about what happens when your dreams get shattered and how to pick yourself up from it … with God’s help. This tome talks about a lot of things, even giving takaways at the end of sections just to get your wheels spinning again, but the end goal is this: to make a new convert to Christ.
Hmmm. Chad Veach does have some practical tips throughout the book, but the end purpose of doing things as God intended for his master plan smacks a little too closely to predestination for me. I believe we all have free will, and are free to do with that as we choose (even if it’s a bad thing). I don’t think that Veach doesn’t believe that, but he does seem to believe that God wants us to be using our own talents, special as they are, in a way that is part of His master plan, which included bringing Jesus to this earth. And I’m not sure what to make of that.
Faith Forward Future: Moving Past Your Disappointments, Delays, and Destructive Thinking By: Chad Veach This book is written by a very loving, open and passionate pastor from Zoe Church in Los Angeles, California. I had the opportunity to meet him in Denver, Colorado at Red Rock Church when he preached for around 500 hundred youth students, for a weekend retreat. This book shows some of many of the challenges that he encounter while following Christ. He shows how bible stories in the bible relate back to what was going on in his life. He shows how many people have dreams, but they may not be the same as god's dreams for us. When dreams aren’t met they are filled with disappointment and how to get over it. He shows that as a believer you shouldn’t view situations in your eyes but through his. Seeing that god doesn’t called you unworthy, lazy and not enough. But he calls you worthy, strong, confident, and a friend. That he is a god of second chances and you must create faith. He creates an inspiring message through his own faliers. This book shows that whatever your going through your in God plan and you will follow in his faith with just a little bit of faith.
I think more than most of the other authors I've read recently, Chad Veach simply succeeds in infusing his personality in his book. He starts with each chapter with a personal anecdote, something to lead the reader into to introduce the idea he wants to share in the chapter. He skillfully adds scripture and Biblical principles to revamp the idea of success and control, and instead gently encourages the reader to let go of that, and let God take the wheel.
I loved his humorous takes on Biblical stories - some more serious-minded readers may find this too goofy, but I loved that he was willing to use levity to help make his point. It never felt like a chore reading this book and I couldn't wait to pick it back up again whenever I had time to read it. In the end, I would highly recommend this book to others!
Good book for young adults since the writer 'words represent the lingo of today. This was a very practical book in revealing reality and the disappointments that happen frequently in our lives. As Christians we seem to think that everything is going to go smoothly because it is in God's hands but a lot of times ,we don't realize that God's hands allow us to go through disappointments and failures because He desires to do something different in our character, bringing Him glory in the end and enlarging our faith. This was a give-away that I received and will be sure to share with a young adult that I know going through turmoil in their life. I know this book will shed some light.
I received an advanced reading copy of Faith Forward Future for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Pastor Chad Veach is a much needed positive voice in this era of negativity. He shows how God's plan for our life is always the best and that we can do anything through Him. We may not see what God is doing at the time, however, He is always with us guiding us.
I also like how Veach shows how God wants to enjoy this life here on earth. He love us and wants us to live the abundant life. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn the extent of Christ's love for us. Great book!
If you fell in love with Chad’s first book, which was raw and vulnerable- you may find a writing style that is a bit unfamiliar in Faith Forward Future. The pages are filled with pop culture references and serious moments are broken up by witty jokes and self-deprecating humor. Nevertheless, my copy still has quite a few highlights in it, as he provides moments of true wisdom and encouragement. While it may lack the depth of his previous publication, it is still a great book that points to truth and inspires hope regardless of personal circumstance.
I love the author's style of writing. I was hoping for a big something or another, and that was the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. It was well written. I was just hoping it would have left a bigger impact a bigger Wow as I closed the last page. I recommend it to anyone really who is apprehensive about their future. In fact this would be a great book for anyone in college or starting out on the "adulting" phase.
"Faith Forward Future: Moving Past Your Disappointments, Delays, and Destructive Thinking", by Chad Veach, is a book on how to live a life open to God's will for ourselves. A wonderful book to give insight and inspiration to those who need a fresh outlook in the middle of today's struggles.
I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
Faith Forward Future gave me a new perspective on my live and reminded me that God still sticks to His plan for my life and that He is not giving up on me!
Really loved Chad’s book. I loved how he intertwined some of his life experiences along with actual readings from scripture. It was such an invigorating and interesting read that I didn’t want to put down.
Faith forward future: moving past your disappointments, delays, and destructive thinking is a great book. Chad is very down to earth and very encouraging throughout the book.
I enjoyed this one, but I didn't love it. I felt like Chad made some amazing points, and ones that I felt were incredibly timely by God. But I do feel like maybe I wasn't the intended audience? It felt like he was really speaking to brand-new to faith Christians.
Somewhat feel like the writer knows my disappointment in life; what i did or didn't do or should have but didn't but did i make a mistake, did i regret it. I've only read a few pages but love what the writer shares about following God's best.
This was an eye opening book that came just at the right time. I recommend this especially to those who let anyone or anything keep them from moving forward.
This book really rocked my world and all aspects of this book really spoke to me in so many ways. Awesome book and well written and narrated Powerful presentation that I strongly can recommend
This is a good book for understanding the walk of faith that is Christian life. There isn't anything groundbreaking but it is solid and biblical sound.
As I read I constantly could hear the voice of various mentors in my life saying “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you!” Lol. This is a book you’ll carry with you for a long time and will want to share with others!
Sets you up with real instructions on how to live and walk in Gods plan for your life. Chad writes with a big doses of humor, and brings energy that blows straight into your life.
