First published in 'Daydream Believers', the concept of 'Peak Oil' refers to the critical point at which the global demand for oil surpasses its supply, leading to an economic Armageddon.
In a bid to safeguard their fortunes and social positions, the world's elite concoct a nefarious plan to address the impending crisis. Their scheme involves reducing the global population in the western world, where oil demand is at its peak, while cunningly shifting the blame onto Islamists and North Korea.
But who can stand in their way? Who possesses the knowledge and determination to even attempt it?
Within a world dominated by a select group of 300 affluent families, the rich elites hold an iron grip on power. Their vast wealth grants them the ability to dictate life and death, and they have chillingly concluded that there are simply too many mouths to feed on our planet. Their proposed solution revolves around the island of La Palma, where they plan to orchestrate a fabricated terrorist attack with catastrophic consequences for millions.
As the elites' plan inches closer to fruition, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Will there be anyone brave enough to challenge their malevolent agenda? Can the truth be exposed before it's too late?
In this gripping tale, the world finds itself at the mercy of the powerful few. The question remains: can the forces of justice and righteousness rise against the overwhelming odds stacked against them? As the battle for truth intensifies, the future of humanity teeters on a knife's edge. Only time will reveal if there is anyone who can stop the elites and save the world from the catastrophic consequences of their greed and manipulation.
This book is a conspiracy theorist's dream - a wealthy elite controlling a dumbed-down population, a corrupt and serve-serving government, the press being manipulated, secret plans to cause a seemingly 'natural' disaster to cull the population. OK, some of that is probably true (hopefully not the disaster bit!)
Why only 2 stars? Many reasons but here are my top three:
- Firstly it's about 90% dialogue! I'm not joking. No book should be published with so much dialogue. Pages and pages of it! - Secondly, the characters are paper-thin and are all the same - male, white, posh, powerful, evil - I genuinely could not tell most of them apart. Even some of the names were similar. - Thirdly, why on earth would the US and UK governments collude to cull their OWN populations? It made no sense. A parasite needs a host to survive, even if the parasite is a government or a wealthy elite.
