This is a pen name for Jill Myles.

Jill Myles has been an incurable romantic since childhood. She reads all the 'naughty parts' of books first, looks for a dirty joke in just about everything, and thinks to this day that the Little House on the Prairie books should have been steamier.

After devouring hundreds of paperback romances, mythology books, and archaeological tomes, she decided to write a few books of her own - stories with a wild adventure, sharp banter, and lots of super-sexy situations. She prefers her heroes alpha and half-dressed, her heroines witty, and she loves nothing more than watching them overcome adversity to fall into bed together.

I was disappointed in this one which bums me out because this series has been a lot of fun. The heroine and I did not get along in this book. Her lack of communication with the hero and her wishy-washy self-made me have a frowny face for most of the book.

When Violet’s famous archaeologist father passes away, he leaves her an envelope with a clue about something. That something Violet could care less about. Barely speaking to him in the last ten years, her father was always more concerned over his latest dig and adventure, than with his daughter. Violet wants to just get his estate settled and move on with her life. But she won’t be that lucky. Back when she was nineteen, on a dig with her father, she met Jonathan Lyons. At that time, Jonathan’s family were unsuccessfully trying to get into the automobile industry. Jonathan, an adventurer at heart, was in his glory helping her father on his latest dig. He also fell in love with Violet, and she fell for him. They had a wild, passionate love affair, in which Violet ended up getting pregnant.

Let me stop here because this part really bothers me. Violet finds out she is pregnant and instead of telling Jonathan this news, she asks him to leave the dig, go back to the states and settle down with her. In which his response is, uh….no. He is nineteen, and while he likes Violet a lot, he doesn’t want to go play house. Violet is devastated and leaves him a note that at the very end tells him she is pregnant. A note he never gets. Violet ends up miscarrying the pregnancy and carrying anger towards Jonathan for the next ten years. Jonathan goes on to turn his family’s business around and is now a billionaire.

Now to the present, Jonathan also receives a mysterious envelope from Violet’s father, which leads him to Violet, a school teacher. Jonathan has been sponsoring a dig and he is sure her father stole something from the site. Now with some clues he has left behind, he wants Violet to come with him on another adventure. He has been under the assumption she was married these ten years, but he was wrong. To get her to come along with him, he promises her school a ton of money, if she goes with him. Feeling blackmailed, Violet agrees.

So, I’m already not loving the fact that Violet didn’t really tell Jonathan that she was pregnant yet has carried massive anger around with her for ten years.

Maybe it wasn’t entirely Jonathan’s fault that he hadn’t come after her. Maybe she hadn’t made her feelings clear enough. Hell, maybe she hadn’t been clear enough about the baby. At nineteen, dancing around the topic of marriage and family and then sending a note had seemed obvious. Ten years later, it just seemed childish. Maybe she hadn’t let him in long enough to have him see the real girl underneath all the armor, the scared, lonely pregnant teenager who just wanted a family of her own that wouldn’t drink or disappear on her.

Or maybe she didn’t say the actual words, “I’m pregnant.” Oh Violet. You frustrate me so.

In present day, once Jonathan finds out she was pregnant, he feels awful. Yet I was still annoyed by Violet’s actions and reactions. She gives in and starts a physical relationship only to then regret it.

No matter how good he was at sex now, fooling around with him could only lead to more hurt. She needed to tell him that they couldn’t do this again. Not if they wanted to maintain their fragile, newly rebuilt friendship.

But as she pulled her shirt over her breasts, she felt suddenly so very tired of the walls she kept erected to keep herself safe. Couldn’t she just relax for one day and not worry about emotions? Couldn’t she just enjoy?

Violet pulled her pants on and lay back in the seat, thinking.

She’d tell him in the morning, when both of them had clear minds and a few hours distance. Tonight, she’d allow herself to wallow in pleasure for a bit.

But then only TEN pages later, after she asks for space, she reacts this way:

It was clear Jonathan wasn’t pursuing her anymore. If she wanted him, she’d have to pursue him and make it obvious that she desired him. She’d have to put her heart out on the line and offer it up to him, not knowing if he was even attracted to her anymore. Maybe he was content with their now-friendship.

Violet would have to be the one taking all the risks.

Violet is so consumed with…Violet. I got so tired of her. She did not communicate at all with him. Maybe as a nineteen year old, she was too immature to communicate but now at 30, let’s go girl. It felt like forced angst to me.

Rating: C-

P.S. The next book is called The Billionaire and the Virgin. Totally reading that.

Another book ruined by an unlikable heroine.

Image result for annoyed gif

I'll keep this brief.

Violet was too hot and cold for my liking. She spent the majority of the book judging and belittling Jonathan's feelings because of her own daddy and mommy issues. And then she moved on from that to using him for her own selfish pleasure.

Even by the end when she got her shit together, she never grew on me.

Image result for i don't like you gif

Jonathan was so vulnerable throughout most of this book. Violet was the great love of his life and he never got over their summer together when they were in college. He'd do anything to have her in his life. He'd be the doormat she wiped her feet on if it meant that he would just get to be in her presence.

While I do love me a man who can show vulnerability....I also need a man with a backbone and some balls.

An unlikable heroine and a doormat leading man do not work for me. Sorry.

Also, the dialogue here was way too formal for my liking. Even the sex scenes were awkward.

By the way, there is nothing sexy about a woman screaming out "Penetrate me" during a sex scene.

Image result for shuddering gif

I'm a big fan of this series, but this book completely missed the mark for me.

Cade, I'm counting on you to get this series back on track in the next book....

I love this series. I just love how cute and how different each one is.

Summary

Violet and Jonathan had a brief romance when they were younger. Violet got pregnant and asked Jonathan what he thought about having a family. Jonathan is young and doesn’t want to settle down and told her that. Through some miscommunication Violet ends up leaving Jonathan and Jonathan doesn’t run after Violet.

It’s ten years later and with the death of Violet’s father, Jonathan is back in Violet’s life and doesn’t want to leave it.

Review

The miscommunication isn’t the annoying kind. Basically Violet wrote a letter to Jonathan explaining the pregnancy and how much she loves him, but Jonathan never gets it. It’s a really super cute storyline and a super cute book.

Violet is a teacher and she has major daddy issues. Her father never really showed support toward Violet and spends most of his time working with Jonathan. So when Jonathan comes back into Violet’s life, she isn’t having ANY OF IT.

I love the beginning. Violet is so strong and fierce and she’s not the scared little girl anymore. She wants to move on from the past and her father leaving her is kind of the last thing to help her move on. She doesn’t want to deal with Jonathan, but of course he makes it impossible to be ignored.

Before Violet’s dad passed away, he created a sort of scavenger hunt for Violet and Jonathan. Violet doesn’t want to do it, but Jonathan is forcing her hand. So on the hunt they go.

Jonathan clearly needs to make up for past mistakes, even though he didn’t know about Violet’s condition, he needs to grovel to get on Violet’s good side again. I love that he’s this sexy rich billionaire that is just weakened by one girl. I loved reading Jonathan’s pursuit of Violet. I couldn’t get enough of it.

Overall, the storyline just worked for me. I liked two characters overcoming past issues and I also like the scavenger hunt, it was just really cute.

Jonathan Lyons, a multi billionaire and adventurer of the world is beyond curious when he hears that his past mentor Dr. DeWitt has a hidden journal and artifact and left in the hands of his daughter....the one woman that has held his heart for ten years, and the one woman he hurt and betrayed more than anyone else, and he sees this as his chance to rekindle the love they once had and work toward making her forgive him for his past sins. Violet, was young and innocent and full of life when she met Jonathan, and fell in love with him while on a dig with her father. But when she found herself pregnant and thought Jonathan had spurned her and she left and now she has changed. She is stronger but now she will have to face the past again and the hurt and mistrust she feels in regards to her father and the only man she has ever loved.
The Hero
Jonathan Lyons, was young and in college when he met Violet and he fell hard for the young sweet girl that shared his passions in and out of the bedroom. But he made a foolish mistake and she was gone before he could go after her. He rebuilt his father's company and traveled the world, seeing all the sights he had dreamed of, but never forgot Violet and never was able to love another, she has always been a part of him. Now I really liked Jonathan for the most part, and he makes the best swoony hero especially when things get serious between him and Violet again. What I liked was how devoted and true he was even though they hadn't been together for ten years.
I wanted you for myself. I've never stopped loving you. Never stopped wanting you. Every second of every day, my heart has always been yours
There were these little things he did that were heartbreaking and sweet. And he never gave up trying to get her back although he would go to certain extremes sometimes.
The Heroine
Violet, grew up in a broken home. Her father was always gone on some dig somewhere, and her mother was drunk or sleeping most of the time. She never had the opportunity to learn about trust or love in a healthy relationship. Violet struggles with trust, because of the type of mother she grew up with. And learned to not to trust her father, and when she found herself pregnant and alone she was broken but became stronger than ever, more independent and not needing to rely on a man. She became a school teacher and learned the beauty of growing from past mistakes and moving on. What I liked about Violet was that despite her past, she has such a strong spirit, a bit too stubborn and does make some mistakes and could be a bit harsh, but you understand why she mistrusts Jonathan.
Plot and Story Line
Jessica Clare never ceases to amaze me and I think I will always love her writing...no matter what genre she is writing under, I always fall in love even with certain plots that I was unsure about. I will admit, that I was nervous about this one, probably why it took so long to read this. But I quickly became engrossed in this story and just didn't want to put it down. What I truly enjoyed about this one was seeing the way that the emotional drama took a serious play in this book. Now normally the heat of this series has sometimes been a bit too much but I really liked the way this story developed. I did feel that sometimes the drama between these two become a bit too much. Sometimes the heroine especially could be too harsh at times, and so there were times I wish she wouldn't be so hard toward Jonathan. I understand why, but she could be mean at times. Its the hero that really surprised me, because even though he could be arrogant and outrageous with his money, he was kind and devoted to her in such a beautiful way.
From this moment on, you're fully mine. Body and soul.
The Cover
I love the gold colors here....I have a weakness for gold covers, probably because they are so rarely used and I like the shape of the heart in form of jewelry here.
Overall View
Romancing The Billionaire is such a beautiful story in many ways....the emotion, the adventure of searching for hidden treasures and seeing these two finding love again with the classic writing of this author that draws the reader in!!
Never think for a moment that I don't love and adore you

Phineas DeWitt'i ben affetmezdim.

Reading a book is supposed to be a fun experience, you journey off to an imaginary world and live through the characters life for a handful of hours. This world for me was a very selfish one and one I did not enjoy visiting.

Violet's character ruined this book for me!!! She swallows in pity throughout this entire book!!!! She thinks only of herself and doesn't listen to reason. No one used her, regardless of what she thought. She is horrible when it comes to Jonathan's feelings. I personally don't buy the message trying to be sold.

And what kind of girl gets offended by the way a guy wears his hair??? Seriously.

Book 5 of Billionaire Boys Club is a bit let down. I am expecting an Indiana Jones adventure. Not some kind of PG rated treasure hunting. The romance is better compare to the previous book.

Violet has let heart broken by Jonathan 10 years early. The suddenly Jonathan shows up on her life. Jonathan still in love with Violet. But due to miscommunication 10 years ago, Violet shuns him out. Eventually she agrees to come with Jonathan for a treasure hunting.

And during those trips they fall in love with other. It is HEA story. I am disappointed with the lack of adventure. There are some very cheesy part that makes me cringe. Like Violet have erotic dream about Jonathan. There is a very romantic swoon worthy poems in the middle. I like the poems very much.

"Romancing the Billionaire" is the story of Violet and Jonathan.

So...

Definitely my least favorite book in the series.

Anyways.

Our h and H were teenage bang buddies. The h's father was a famous (but shitty, deadbeat, money hungry etc etc) archaeologist who only cared about his career. He was also the H's mentor. H and h meet one wild summer, copulate, after which the h begs for commitment and the non-caring hero then is like B, BYE. What he doesn't know is the h is preggo, and soon loses the baby. They have huge miscommunications here thanks to the dad.

Fast forward to present. Shithole dad is dead after committing robbery. Leaves a letter to both h and H. H is apparently still crazy about the h and manipulates his way into her life, forcing her to accompany him into solving the puzzle to the missing artifact. The h is extremely hurt and angry, but reluctantly agrees. They go on the expedition, where the truth is exposed, wounds are potentially healed, and old chemistry is reignited. But with hurt of the past still lingering between them, will they ever find HEA?

Unlikable hero and heroine. Loads of sex. Semi-interesting story. Frustration inducing scenes.

But why not zero stars?
1. He regretted the past
2. She made him work for it
3. The sex was hot

Did not enjoy it much tbh. I can tolerate second chance romances if done well- having good amount of angst, romance and loyalty to one another. This had none. Also, the resolution to their main problem was done with a letter AT THE VERY END!!!

I was very disappointed with this novel because I loved the Billionaire Boys Club series but the last 2 novels have been a total let down...

so only 3 stars from me...and only because I'm a fan of the series...

To be brief: the hole scavenger hunt idea sounded very cool but really it was very dull. During the firs sex scene I had to skip ahead (and I love sex scenes) because come on...who talks that much during sex? And a vanilla guy suddenly feels the need to tie a woman (and has not done it before with anyone) which who he hasn't had sex in 10 years? All this sounds very far-fetched to me so I had to abandon the novel at one point and not continue wasting my time with it.

If you are Billionaire Boys Club series you can give it a try but otherwise I do not recommend it.

Not as good as the other books in this series. I found Violet very annoying and self- centered. At 19 they are both still essentially kids, but Violet suddenly expects Jonathan to make an adult, life changing decision without any previous discussions. When Violet finds out that she is pregnant, she doesn't tell Jonathan, instead she drops vague hints and expects Jonathan to guess or read her mind to find out the "great news". Like any regular 19 year old, Jonathan is totally clueless and does not get the "right answers" to her hints. Violet then storms off and spent the next 10 years bitter and feeling sorry for herself. Oh yeah she also really, really hates Jonathan. Unrealistic expectations.
I am a great Jessica Clare fan, but this book did nothing for me.

INDIMENTICABILE!

This one gets 4 stars because the hero, Jonathan, is pretty much BESOTTED with the heroine Violet. In the ten years since she left him, he's only ever had sex with prostitutes who look like her, and he's been tortured because he thinks she's married and over him.

The heroine is very emotionally hard and I can see why some readers don't like her, but I was okay with her. She's had a tough life.

This couple are basically very codependent and clingy, and I can imagine that they'd be a nightmare to be around in real life, but it was nice to be immersed in their relationship. Here's to escapism!

It is probably true the happily situated amongst us would love to learn the one that got away, the one that broke your heart — yeah, that one, had secretly pined for you for the past ten years. And even the happily situated has those days when our loved ones drive us crazy and we daydream of that guy, rolling up in his fancy car, professing his undying love and devotion. Learning that leaving you had been a terrible misunderstanding, or sabotage would just be the icing on the cake. Of course, being happily situated, you could tell the guy how great it is to see him and that it’s good to know that what you believed was wrong. And, would he like a cup of coffee before he leaves?

Or, maybe not. It’s hard to imagine someone being so stubborn that they would fail to even ask about what had happened a decade before and just persist in ugly thought and behavior for several weeks when that guy showed up on the doorstep, thrilled to find you.

But, it’s a fantasy scenario so it can be a fantasy grudge too.

I thought the writing in this book is the best, so far, in the series. The plot is complicated with the past and present coming together, with parental issues and long held misunderstandings threatening forward motion in life and any future relationship. And,though the fantasy is a bit sophomoric, I am pretty sure it is universal. The growth in Violet’s character in particular, is very heartfelt and believable.

The only problems I had were the overplaying of Violet’s continued grudge-holding and immature behavior in the light of the truth; and that Jonathan lived up to a shorter version of his name in street vernacular. I would have a harder time getting past that than anything.

The action is very steamy; and there’s a passing nod to bondage as a way to reclaim trust.

The riddles are amusing and I’ve been following the whole Atlantis archaeology sub-plot since ONCE UPON A BILLIONAIRE; it adds a fabulous “wouldn’t that be cool?!” factor.

Other than that, ROMANCING THE BILLIONAIRE is both amusing and poignant, silly and sexy; the series is on my “guilty pleasures” list. It brings to my mind a time on a woman’s life that she has to really grow up and put the past behind her, forgiving those who might have hurt her and moving on, one way or another.

I enjoyed the book as a light and steamy new adult romance with a theme that has the potential to touch the heart of any woman who was ever hurt by their sweetheart.

Jonathan and Violet. Almost stopped reading this one twice. It just got boring. The story is OK and the characters are OK.
When Violet and Jonathan were 19, they worked for a summer on her father's Archaeological dig. They fell in love and she got pregnant. She is used to her father always letting her down, so she is emotionally unprepared for Jonathan not wanting to run away with her and start a family right away. ('Cause at 19, that's kinda crazy). Unknown to Jonathan, she was pregnant at the time. Her father makes sure that Jonathan never contacts her again, because he wants the money for his digs that Jonathan's family provides. Ten years later, her dad kicks the bucket and leaves a treasure hunt behind for both her and Jonathan. Violet who is used to her father's useless treasure hunts is unimpressed. Her father was a complete ass .
I can't seem to ever get past how Violet is so angry at Jonathan when the only way she tried to tell him she is pregnant is to leave him a note before she takes off. seriously???
It got pretty annoying how loooooong it takes her to get over the chip on her shoulder . Jonathan is pretty wishy washy too. She tells him to back off.... and he does. This is the guy who single handedly turns around his family's failing car company and makes billions before he turns 30, then travels the world having adventure after adventure??? what a pair of boobs...

After having just finished three other books that I had been waiting all year for and being left utterly disappointed...this book was exactly what I needed!

Violet and Jonathan’s story was a quick and easy cheesy sweet read with all the things I love in a romance.
1. A completely obsessed hero
2. A good amount of groveling
3. No cheating/OW
4. A hero that never gives up no matter how much the heroine pushes him away

While the book did slow down a bit towards the middle I still really enjoyed it. I can always count on this author to get me out of a book funk.

BTW, we get a sneak peak at book #6, which I thought would be about Cade & Daphne, and it's about someone named Robert and Marjorie. huh? Does anyone remember either of them from previous books?

Romancing the Billionaire was my first book by Jessica Clare, and I’m sure glad I did. It is book five in the Billionaire Boys Club, and can be read as a standalone, but I will definitely be checking out the other books in this series. Jonathan Lyons is the billionaire in question, and reconnects with his ex-girlfriend Violet DeWitt following the death of her father and Jonathan’s mentor Dr. Phineas DeWitt. Phineas sends the two on an adventure, and the sparks fly from there. This is a second chance love story, brought together by tragedy and a push from the grave.

Violet’s life has not been what everyone believes, and I admired her strength and fortitude. She was a strong, independent woman who gave as good as she got. Jonathan realizes he has always loved Violet, and I enjoyed the way he tried to show her how he really felt. The adventure orchestrated by Phineas was engaging and interesting, and it was nice to watch Violet and Jonathan try and find their new normal. I loved the ending, and am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

We finally get to know more about the outdoor-to the rescue, Jonathan Lyons.
I am so happy to read a book about his past & the love of his live! Since the first book he intrigued me more than the other men.

Hands-down this is now one of my favorite in this series! From the adventurist Jonathan, we get to know the heartbroken & poetic Jonathan. That's priceless!

Full review to come! :)

2.5 stars, A bit of a bore
Boring, not what I wanted to read from this quite unusual series of books. I wanted more humor and less struggle to overcome their shared history. There was way too much of that and also the father somehow bringing them together with clues spread across the world was over-contrived.

I read a lot of romance novels and this one feels just that bit more endearing than others I've found enjoyable. I look forward to reading many more by this author.

I don’t want another to love you, Because I wanted you for myself. I've never stopped loving you. Never stopped wanting you. Every second of every day, my heart has always been yours.

When I was asked to join a blog tour for Jessica Clare's newest book, Romancing the Billionaire, I was pleasantly surprised. (pleasantly surprised being an understatement) The reason being that Billionaire Boys Club was one of the few series that I read and waited for almost religiously, and being given a chance to host a blog tour and get an ARC is truly amazing.

Violet Dewitt is the daughter of famous archaeologist Dr. Phineas Dewitt and when her father died, she was set of to a scavenger hunt which was one of the things her father loved her to back in her childhood, and with the man who broke her heart, Jonathan Lyon a handsome billionaire.

Violet's father wasn't very attentive to her emotional needs while growing up add in the fact that because of him, her mother resorted to drinking because of depression it's not a shock that she resented him.

When Violet was asked by his father to join his latest dig after her graduation, she believed that it was a way of her father trying to bring them closer together but that wasn't what happened since his father also invited his students to join them and there she meets Jonathan Lyon.

On that short summer, she fell in love with the greatest guy but ended up leaving without him after he flat out refused her when she asked him to start up a family with her.

Now ten years later, he's back again and the same passion they had was still there. Can she forget the past and start again or will she let the past ruin her chance for happiness?

This is the fifth installment to the series and although it was an entertaining read, it wasn't up to par with the other books to the series. Although I cannot exactly pinpoint what made it lacking, it just didn't have that much impact to me.

Violet was a very interesting character since she started out as sort of a carefree individual but due to what happened ended up being reserved. I didn't like the fact that she was adamant on not forgiving Jonathan when it wasn't his fault but the fault of her father. I understand that it's hard to trust someone after something horrible happened between you, but it just wasn't fair of her to put the blame on Jonathan who was as much of a victim as she was.

Jonathan was such a sweet guy. He was very young when he and Violet first met so I couldn't exactly blame him for not wanting to be serious with her back then since he still had a lot to learn in life. Although he suffered greatly from what happened, I believe that it really helped him into becoming the man that was worthy of Violet. I also liked that he had a sense of humor unlike most of the billionaire heroes who had tendencies to always brood and be mysterious. It was a very refreshing change to be honest.

The plot was interesting since it wasn't all about the romance between the characters. The dynamic between Violet and her father was also interesting and although I am not a fan of her father asking forgiveness after he has already died, (for me that is a sign of cowardice) it was added a great touch to the book.

Overall Romancing the Billionaire was a very good book despite some of the things I did not like about it. I couldn't wait for the last installment to come!
