Each had the mark - her grandmother, her mother, all the women - going back centuries. It was a blessing and a curse. And now the beautiful Egyptian archaeologist is kidnapped and Special Agent Michael Poe must find her. But in doing so, he discovers the mark's secret, a secret better left hidden.
Shawn Raymond Poalillo is a retired Special Agent from the Department of Homeland Security with over twenty-four years of federal law enforcement experience. He spent the bulk of these years investigating drug smuggling, money laundering and terrorism cases.
Poalillo is certified in federal court as an expert in the areas of money laundering, bank record analysis and telephone toll analysis and can give expert testimony.
Having attended LIU/CW Post College, the author holds a BA in psychology and business and also graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia.
"Writing is a great joy, each word a small victory. In my first novel - Rerun: A New Face of Terrorism - I tried to bring the realism of true-life law enforcement, something lacking in most novels of the genre, while mixing in an outlandish plot. Cops have a great time all the time. Nothing was serious until it had to be and then it became serious quickly.
"This same quality is seen in my third novel - The Girl With The Black Mark, another Special Agent Michael Poe story.
"Completely different is A Selfless Man, which is a departure from the other two and a more heart wrenching story.
"My goal is to entertain and take the reader away, if only briefly, to a different place. Enjoy!"
With his third novel, Shawn Raymond Poalillo once again showcases his uncanny ability to cross genres with spectacular results. His first novel, Rerun, is a brilliant terrorism thriller, while his second, A Selfless Man, walked the line between family drama and suspense. Meanwhile, The Girl With the Black Mark is a seemingly timeliness thriller set between Egypt and New Jersey.
The common thread between Poalilo’s first and third book is scrappy Department of Homeland Security Special Agent Michael Poe. Here, the 25-year-old Poe and his partner, Bobby Griffin, come to the assistance of Shadya Hazem, a knockout professor of archeology.
The author manages to take a spy/apocalyptic novel and add romance and lust intertwined smoothly throughout. Mr. Poalillo creates memorable characters who have returned from his first novel: Rerun, bringing real depth to the story. And what a story! Don't miss this one.
This was a absolutely unique sequel to the authors other book on agent Michael Poe, Rerun: A New Face of Terrorism. This time theirs a stunningly beautiful Egyptian woman with a tattoo that the bad guys just have to get to find a centuries old weapon of mass destruction. The premise of this story is extremely unique and a great read. I just can't wait until the next in the series. Do yourself a favor and give this series a try as well as the stand alone novel, A Selfless Man. You will not be Disappointed !!
I've read all three of this author's books and they never disappoint. This novel brings a unique plot that builds until what you think is the end and keeps on coming. I love the heroes and hate the villains and the pace is nonstop. No dead spots, no inane, long-winded descriptions like in a lot of other books. It makes this one a MUST READ.
Great story bringing ancient prophecy in a credible way. Well paced and kept my interest (read in three days). Like his other book: the Gladiator of New York City, the plot was given slowly and made you read more. I am always amazed when authors, and there a very few, can write in more than one genre. I checked on Poalillo and I think I counted three. Bravo.
Love that the author was able to have romance with the madness. He found the key to the mystery on the lovely lady/ Michael was a good explorer. Loved the Egyptian with the funny car, to the recruit. I now was to read the other books of Mr. Poalillo, Rerun, A selfless man and the gladator of NYC. I'm sure there will be a sequel to The girl with the black mark. to many unanswered questions.
After reading the first book in the series i looked forward to the second novel. I was not disappointed. The Girl With The Black Mark is well deserving of a five star rating. I am looking forward to reading the third novel in the series
