The Tenth Girl #3

All the Frogs in Manhattan

Rate this book
You know how Cinderella had the whole glass slipper, pumpkin carriage, fairy godmother thing?

Yeah…with foot-destroying stilettos, Uber, and a Twitter horoscope, my life is far from a happily ever after.

In fact, instead of Prince Charming, I end up dating every slimy, scaly, brainless frog in the kingdom of Manhattan. And by frog, I mean all of the stereotypical bad guys that Mom and Lifetime movies warned you about.

The meathead player.
The mommy's boy.
The namedropper.
The cheapskate.

If they suck at relationships, I’ve probably kissed those cold, clammy lips in the hopes of finding love. Until one day, when one man with commitment issues offers to help me find the Romeo to my Juliet.

But what happens when the frog, who was never supposed to turn into a prince, kisses you at midnight? Ok fine, he propositioned me for some afternoon delight after brunch, but not everything can be straight out of a fairytale.

Author of romance novels such as Fleeting and Love at First Fight, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. Her stories are fueled by vanilla lattes, meloncholy music, and copious amounts of candles.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in farm country with her husband, two children and ninety-pound rescue pup.

descriptionI'm pretty much in love with this cover. It's fun and flirty which is exactly how this book is. The typography is interesting and beautiful. The composition is spot on. It's bright and eye catching. It's pretty much the perfect cover for this book.description

descriptionLove, at first sight, doesn't always happen. Sometimes you have to kiss a few (a lot) of frogs before you find your Prince Charming. And sometimes you don't even realize you've found the ONE until they are no longer around...

I simply ADORED this book. It had a total SEX AND THE CITY vibe to it. It was well-written. It was nicely paced. It was humorous. It was sweet. It was hot. It had angst. It had a set of interesting main characters and a great bunch of secondary characters. All topped off with an OK epilogue. Personally, I would have liked a farther into the future look at this couple, but I wasn't too disappointed.

Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly!description

It's LIVE & on Blog Tour!!

I believe that ALL THE FROGS IN MANHATTAN was a brilliant introduction to Carrie Aarons writing. For those of you, like me, who haven't read anything from this author before, READ THIS BOOK!! It was charming, funny, romantic, had enough drama to keep one's interest, and had a realistic vibe throughout the story.

Going into this I thought I knew what to expect. I've read tons of stories about friends-with-benefits and they all seem to follow a certain type of formula, with little variation. So you can imagine my surprise when this one took a turn that I didn't expect but definitely appreciated. What happens when the friends-with-benefits trope ends before the actual ending? Isn't it suppose to graduate into an automatic HEA?! That's when I knew that this author wasn't playing around by injecting reality into the fiction.

There were many things to like but the one's that stand out are:
♛ Oliver's upfront and straight-forward talk and attitude.
♛ The openness of the banter between Oliver and Gemma.
♛ The awkwardness of the first time these two had sex. It was hilarious and so stupidly real. Most books speak of the instant connection between its main characters and the first time they are intimate is fluid and there are no mishaps. Nope, not for these two and it made them that much more endearing and real to me.
♛ The picture the author painted of the single life in NYC, especially for women. It wasn't incredibly realistic but it was certainly desperate. Especially when Gemma was divesting herself of the slim pickings characterized in this story. Her dates were too funny!!

Overall, I have to say that this book was a joy to read. My only disappointment lies in the fact that I wanted more time to enjoy this couple as a couple. Through their many ups and downs I wanted to see them stable for a little while. But that's just me and my greedy self ;)

ALL THE FROGS IN MANHATTEN: This was a light witty, engaging read which I thoroughly enjoyed. Imagine making your way through all the frogs in Manhattan to find your very own alpha frog. The one frog that was a bit of a commitment phobe, a self made millionaire, but didn't want to progress further than a booty call when the need arose. what do you do? You date more frogs until this certain alpha frog doesn't know what's hit him.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I date all the time. I search and I search and I search and I always end up finding the worst kind of men, the rejects or assholes or the totally and completely undateable.

Twenty-five year old Gemma and Thirty year old Oliver are not your typical duo that you would find paired up, he's a hot nerdy young millionaire tech genius and she works at a female lifestyle magazine which is the biggest in the country.

This unlikely duo meet whilst Gemma is out on a date with a frog, and instead of things progressing further she used the old adage of a females monthly which had this frog making for the hills never to be seen dating Gemma again. Phew.

Her dream man would be the guy who you wake up to and has no qualms about bringing you breakfast in bed, not just any breakfast but guacamole and will scratch her back whenever she demands.

Gemma knows exactly what she wants in a man and she's determined to find her Prince Charming, nothing and nobody is going to stop her.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I had a crush on my f#ck buddy. He wasn't romantic or a gentleman; he was sexy in a nerdy way and had an honest, factual way of looking at the world.

Someday soon Mr Right will come along

So if you're wanting something a little unique, a light witty feels good read, something that will give you the feels and the giggles look no further than this book because haven't we all at some stage kissed a few frogs until we found our alpha frog, that surpasses all other frogs.

Adorably cute -- lots of steam! What's not to like? Nothing. But on the other hand, there isn't anything we've not seen in so many others of like kind. For an angst-free fun afternoon of reading, it fit the bill and kept the pests of real life at bay.

Genre: Romantic Comedy

All the Frogs in Manhattan is a humorous tale about a woman who is searching for her prince charming in a sea of frogs. With added sass and a lot of spice, Carrie Aaron's turns a mundane tale into a total winner with this one. Even more, she sucks her readers into a tale that could easily be a readers life. Why? Because if you really think about it, how many frogs have you kissed before you met your prince and reached your HEA? Probably quite a few. Life and love are not perfect and we can't always find our match right away, but if we are patient and go with the flow it will eventually fall in our laps (or maybe even be right in front of our faces and we never even noticed). This my friends, is how the story plays out for sassy Gemma, and I loved every minute of it.

As with many romances, the plots of various books all seem to swarm together, making them not only forgettable, but a bit boring while reading. There have been quite a few romance novels that I have simply put to the side because of this (I mean, who doesn't get tired of the same thing over and over again). But this book had a very unique quality to it that I loved and made it stand out from the others. Perhaps it's the fact that the book is like a modern day fairy-tale, or that the characters hold different personalities than other characters in different books. Either way, I found this book to be unique and very fun. It's also a lighthearted read, light on the drama, and filled with some very steamy scenes that will make seasoned romance readers blush!

Readers who like fairy-tales with a modern edge, and those who enjoy books that are filled with laugh out loud moments and crappy dates will enjoy this one. I personally picked up this book based on the cover (it deserves some cover love because, really, how cute is it) and couldn't stop until I finished the story. So even if it's just the cover that catches your eye, give a new book a chance. It's worth the read!

PS: The "hero" or "prince charming" of the novel is a nerdy tech guy/billionaire and is sure to make his way into your heart. He's what we women would call a "keeper"

Si buscas un romance profundo y emocional en All The Frogs In Manhattan no lo vas a encontrar.

All the Frogs in Manhattan by Carrie Aarons

3.5 Stars

Gemma and Oliver are quite the duo. A nerdy-sexy millionaire tech genius and a beautiful go-getter manhattanite really did make for an interesting read. They're not your typical fairy tail combo, and they sure worked hard to prove that point.

I was actually consumed by this book. The writing was great-it flowed wonderfully and it really captured and held my attention.

Commitment-something Oliver is NOT familiar with. At 30, his job creating technical masterpieces was pretty much all he had time for. A fling here and there and a romp now and again satisfied his basic carnal needs but a girlfriend? HELL NO.

Looking for her prince in a sea of frogs in New York was proving difficult. At 25, Gemma just wanted to settle down and move forward with her life. She's got the dream job working as an editor for a popular woman's magazine, and endless amounts of one night stands...but she needed something more.

I loved the initial meet-cute between Oliver and Gemma. Though it was too quick, it was quite funny. This made for their second connection to allow for some humility and some sexy time, which was too quick as well, but made sense later into the read. I did notice some continuity issues, but apart from that I laughed! A lot! There were some parts that felt a little too rushed and some that left me feeling a little flat but all in all I really enjoyed this read. It's a first for me from Aarons and I'm tempted to give her another go! Second chance romances are hard to write-they're hard to keep original as well. The chemistry was there though, and it helped move the story along!

Ps. I think they'd make cute babies.

What an absolutely brilliant Rom-Com from Carrie Aarons!!

All the Frogs in Manhattan is so funny and so realistic... honestly, none of this over the top insta-love, immediate attraction and ridiculous sex - Just a brilliant story about finding your prince amongst all the Frogs!

I really liked the characters in this story and found it to be a really refreshing friends with benefits kind of story. It was different and not at all what I expected, keeping me as a reader on my toes and the pages turning.

I loved the fact it was all so real - I LOVED the fact that the first time they had sex, it wasn't perfect. It wasn't over the top, "oh my god, the earth just moved" stuff we so often read. In reality it was all rather awkward, but over time the development of the characters, their personalities and their relationship was super.

The story line in this book really worked. It was fun, sweet, sexy and flirty. With some huge laugh out loud moments throughout, mixed with just the right amount of angst. It was witty, and had some brilliant banter from the characters.

A brilliant, funny, engaging story which I would highly recommend!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.5 stars!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

OMG this book is HILARIOUS!

All the Frogs in Manhattan reads like a movie! I felt like I was watching the modern day version,of Sex and the City. But it doesn't emulate S&TC, it has its own unique story.

It's the first book by Carrie Aarons I read, and let me tell yoy, it definitely won't be the last! I loved her writing. The book pretty much conveys the reality of 20-something dating and even though I live in a different country, with different dating habits and culture, I related 100% to it!!

Ohh and it's HAWT! But there's a story behind the sex and the characters sex life and I really, really liked it!

This was the perfect book,to get me out of my book funk!!

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

So how many frogs have you kissed?

I have just kissed one. Sad, right? Anyway, that's a story for another day. Let's talk about Gemma.

Like most girls, Gemma wanted LOVE. The fairytale. But instead of Prince Charming, she has dated every slimy, scaly, painless frog in the kingdom of Manhattan.

The meathead player.
The mommy's boy.
The namedropper.
The cheapskate.

So if she can't find love, at least she can take a ride on the Bologna Pony, right?

Insert Oliver Anders.

They met whilst Gemma is out on a date. The guy ended up being another frog so she had to...

LOL.

And that's when she met Oliver. He's a clear commitment phoebe. You can smell it all over him...

... "which is fine with me. If his dick is big and he knows how to use it, that's all I care about."

So yeah, she rode the pony.

They decided to be friends with benefits but as they spent more time together, Gemma's foolish heart started wanting more.

"I wanted to find love, Oliver wanted to fuck..."

description

What happen when the frog, who was never supposed to turn into a prince, steals your heart?
Will Gemma get her happily ever after or will she lose hope to find her Prince Charming?

description

"What do you keep trying? Even after all these horrible dates and shitty guys?"

Because LOVE is worth it!!!!!!!!

For a girl like me, is a story that gave me hope. Carrie Aarons throw in a little bit of reality and make me believe that my other half is out there. That sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your Prince Charming. Gemma taught me that giving up is not an option. If you really want to find love you have to go for it. Take a risk. Or many. That if we decide to play safe, we will be left wondering what if...

is not your typical friend with benefits story, it's definitely a little bit more. Humorous, deliciously hot, and endearingly sweet. All topped off with a set of enticing main characters that will have you wanting for more.

“Nothing that we want so badly ever comes easy.”

All the Frogs inn Manhattan is a modern day story of a woman in a quest to find her prince charming, or probably kissed all the frogs to turn them into a prince. It explores the reality of dating nowadays and hidden truths that we try to hide before it became a relationship.

“They wanted the bad boy that would finally change for them.”

Oh my God because this really needs to be mentioned, the cover is effing beautiful! Rarely I find a book that I just go crazy about and stare at for a couple minutes every time I open my kindle. And I love the title! So cuuuute! Okay, moving on. Lol!

“There is something about doggy style that's more illicit than any other position.”

This book is quirky in some ways, and has loads of cuteness. Definitely hot. Has fun and humorous moments. And just light. No drama and just full on reality. And this is just kind of a refreshing read. Definitely adorable!

“Love waits for no woman, no matter how ill-timed it is.”

Avete presente Sex and the City, vero?

What a freaking hilarious and super smart piece of writing !!!!!
I was grinning, laughing, howling throughout the story. Couldn't read fast enough and couldn't put it down. It seemed closely inspired by SOTC but it's much, much more. It has heart and pain and love and tenderness and honesty
Gemma Bean is a Manhattanite, living in a tiny shoebox of an apartment in NYC paying through her nose and working her ass off in Femme Magazine Beauty department . She is looking for The One
And scouring through the Single Dating scene of Manhattan. But to get to her Prince , she have to kiss a lot of Frogs.
The cheapskate
the Racist
the smelly
the Home Nester
All kinds of weirdos.
I put up the front nicely, the twenty-something single dream of living spontaneously and fucking strangers when I feel like it. In reality, I want a man who's going to bring me guacamole in bed and scratch my back whenever I ask. Oh, and give me an orgasm without having to use my fingers to produce one.
Someday soon Mr. Right will come along, and you'll be happy for like two years , and as soon as he puts a ring on your left hand he'll get fat and start recording Sportscenter and Cops on your DVR to watch while he scratches his balls and yells about dinner."
"I'm just so tired of looking. Isn't there one guy in this whole goddamn city for me?"

She's almost given up running the exhaustive Dating Gauntlet , Till she meets Oliver . Actually bumps into him and they just hit it off!
Their honest , no pretense,no strings attached relationship is perfect for both of them. None are looking for walk into the sunset . just no awkward sex with no feelings involved. Gemma is my hero, she’s very clear and very upfront , when she wants to "joy ride on his meat pole.
“You have my number. If you ever need a wing woman, or advice with makeup, you know who to call.”
Oliver too - “And if you ever need a designated driver, or someone to save you from an awful date, I’m your guy.”
IN this fast paced , career driven, jam packed lives of Speed running Manhattanites, swipe dating and Tinder are Godsend. They don't have time to follw through relationship rituals and protocols when it comes to scratching the itch.
But they forget one cardinal rule of this Central Park /Garden Of Eden Empire Island of Manhattan-
Men and women can never just be friends with benefits. You can’t just smother feelings with orgasms and dirty talk.”
Are we supposed to hurt for love? Is it supposed to be a tooth-and-nail fight? I think that maybe something that precious, something that sought after, requires it. Sure, we know the exact moment that it happens. But isn’t there a proverb or bible verse or some other wise piece of literature that says the things we truly want are those we must suffer most to get?
“That’s because love and relationships aren’t a fairytale. They don’t go completely written to plan, like we see in the movies or read in books. They’re messy. They cause such an upheaval in our lives. You’re making room for a second human being in your singular life, of course it’s not going to go smoothly.”

It's a fantastic story and very well presented.
Can't believe this is my first book by Carrie. It certainly won't be the last!

To be honest with you, I didn't finish this book, I wanted to fight through it, I just couldn't. I had someone else who finished it tell me about it and I'm glad I stopped where I did, this book just wasn't for me.

This book reminded me of multiple romantic comedies I have read or seen over the past few decades, From the Devil Wears Prada, to the Wedding Planner and The Ugly Truth.

There were some good moments that I really enjoyed while there were a few things that drove me insane, but really I think that's because this girl was a New Yorker through and through and as a born southern woman, we are not nearly this crass. She just made senseless decisions that I couldn't understand. I mean really who complains about about walking eight blocks in high heels? Carry a bag and put your damn high heels in there and walk in tennis shoes! It's not rocket science, use your brain.

I liked Oliver much more than our h, that girl annoyed me to death. I like that he was awkward and wasn't like every other hero we are reading, but that's about the only part of this that I enjoyed.

Check out this novel and see if you can find your prince.

A chance meeting……….Fear of commitment

Gemma is a twenty-something living in the city looking for love. Oliver is a man who also lives in the city….but……he’s just looking for a good time.

Gemma and Oliver first meet by chance; then they meet by chance yet again…..is it fate telling them something? They decide to just be “friends with benefits” until they both start to develop feelings.

What follows is a love that was meant to be. I thoroughly loved this book. The immediate banter between Gemma and Oliver was so fun to read. I laughed and ached with both of them.

Well this book is not your conventional instalove book. Its a raw portrayal of a single woman looking for her prince in a world filled with big nasty frogs. I felt so identified with her. Every person talks about how women should be strong and independent and should never need a man, but the truth is that at one point we all dream of what having someone to wake up to and make us breakfast would feel like. This book is so relatable for all those who cannot seem to ever find the right person to be with. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a quick fun weird read.

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) I was a bit apprehensive before reading this one... don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but the thing is... I wasn't the biggest fan of her previous story, but I AM a huge fan of her writing style, so I had some mixed feelings going into this book... but man oh man... I loved it soooo much :) this one definitely clicked for me :) it's a standalone contemporary romance set in New York, as you can probably guessed from the title ;) but it will definitely be hard to achieve that fragile balance of telling you just enough to make you curious and convince you to read this book, without giving away too much and avoiding all spoilers ;) because trust me, it's one of those storis when the less you know going into it, the better for your reading experiance... :) but I will do my best :)

So let me start with our main couple... oh how I adored them :) Gemma is a beauty editor in one of those chic fashion magazines :) she's in her twenties, looking for love... ;) and not finding it... ;) but she doesn't lose hope ;) she may sound like a romantic to you, but trust me... she has the most amazing sassy / sarcastic side that I adored soooo much :) she's actually full of contradictions, and I can really relate to her... I mean, who says that we have to be just one type of person... :) the more I read about her, the more I loved her... flaws and mistakes and all... :) Oliver on the other hand... he's the owner of a very successful tech company and a self made millionaire... he can be awkward but he's also confident and very honest... sometimes brutally so, but I take that over keeping secrets and being deceitful every day... ;) theirs is definitely NOT your usual romance... again, I don't want to tell you guys too much about it, because I truly believe that too many details would ruin your experience, so let's just say that they start as friends with benefits sort of thing... while she still tries to find love :) because he's not interested in a relationship at all... being too busy with work... but at least he's honest about it :) so they have an understanding... where does it go from there and how exactly things change... I won't tell you, but I absolutely loved it :)

This story was written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from Gemma's perspective, as well as Oliver's... and you may know by now that it's my favourite type of writing style... ;) but the biggest compliment I can give about this book is how honest it felt... the characters, the story... it was flawed... not in an annoying, but in a real way, that made you feel that much closer to the people you were reading about... *sighs happily* :) it was hilarious and sweet, but also vulnerable, awkward and sometimes brutally honest... and I can't remember the last time I connected so much with the characters I read about... Gemma in particular... and the more I think about it, the more I'm falling in love with her and her story all over again... to be honest... I think I may have my new favourite Carrie Aarons's book... so I definitely highly recommend you guys one-click this amazing story :) yes, it may be hard to read at times, because people don't always want to read such honest words... not all of us like to see ourselves on the pages of a book, but for me... the fact that I could connect sooo much to Gemma and her journey, made the experience of reading this book that much better :)

XOXO

Before I even start this review can we talk about the cover? Isn’t it eye catching and beautiful? After reading All The Frogs In Manhattan, I feel like the girl on the cover portrays Gemma absolutely perfectly.

I’ve read almost all of Carrie Aarons books and I feel like she releases a book when I’m about to fall into a reading slump or when I need a fun loving book to put me into a good mood. Carrie never lets me down and she definitely delivered in All The Frogs In Manhattan.

All The Frogs In Manhattan is something a little different from Carrie. This time she’s writing a romantic comedy and I really enjoyed her writing style. I’ve seen her writing grow from each book I’ve read by her. I honestly can’t wait to read more of her books.

Gemma is a character that I absolutely loved. She was sarcastic, unapologetic about who she was, she wasn’t afraid to be sexually active, she was funny and I personally really loved her. She’s probably one of my favorite Carrie Aarons characters.

Oliver is not your typical alpha male, he is actually a nerd. A very sexy, sweet, charming nerd. I personally liked him.

I thought the relationship between Gemma and Oliver was sweet. It started out slow burning and I absolutely loved every minute of it. If you’re looking for a quick and easy, funny read you should definitely read All The Frogs In Manhattan.

About The Author
Author of romance novels such as Red Card and On Thin Ice, Carrie Aarons writes sexy, swoony and sarcastic characters who won't get out of her head until she puts them down on a page.

Carrie has wanted to be an author since the first time she opened a book, and can’t imagine a better or more maddening profession.

When she isn't in a writing coma, Carrie is chasing her Great Dane/Lab puppy through the dog parks of New Jersey, or trying to make her husband binge watch the latest Netflix craze.

***FULL REVIEW***

4 Frog Prince CROWNS

Carrie Aarons is one of my favorite writers, partially because she writes such a wide variety of romances. Since I started reading her, she has published suspense romance, sports romance, angsty romance, and comedic romance, and she excels in all of them. All the Frogs in Manhattan by Carrie Aarons is just another great addition to the variety of books she already has under her belt.

Part of what makes this series so great is characters. I love Gemma's voice and views on dating, and I love that she owns up to her feelings and walks away when needed. What I really enjoyed about her character though was her humor. Her wit and banter with Oliver is fantastic from the beginning of the book. Oliver is just as lovable with his dorky, multi-millionaire self. Just like Gemma, readers will fall in love with his humor, and revel in his jealousy streaks. And, although it takes time for him to get it together, Oliver uses his intelligence to decide to get the girl in the end.

This story is just pure entertainment. From page one I was laughing out loud and Gemma, her dates, and whenever she is with her friends or Oliver. This novel does follow a pretty traditional plot line; however, the characters are so unique and lovable that readers will overlook that more traditional plot structure. Readers will truly enjoy the pacing and progression of Oliver and Gemma as a couple.

Carria Aarons has provided readers with another perfect escape with All the Frogs in Manhattan. It is hilarious, sexy, and smart, and I didn't want it to end. This new book is definitely one to make sure is on your shelf.

This is the first book I have read from Carrie Aarons and I found it very enjoyable indeed. I will now be on the look out for other books from her.

This one is a second change romance that has lots of funny bits and great strong characters. Firstly we have Gemma, and twenty-five year old fashion editor, who is an independent hard working gal who has a very witty mouth. She has a group of girlfriends that she regularly seeks advice from with the dating game that is played in Manhattan. One night she stumbles across another frog, who may end up being her prince. Oliver is the thirty year old, self made millionaire who is too busy for a relationship, and is happy to be a f*&k buddy. If this relieves Gemma's itches, why not? But the problem is, can you have a buddy in this area and not form feelings. In my opinion, no.

Gemma was a girl that knew what she wanted in and out of the bedroom and wasn't going to settle on anything less. She wanted the whole nine yards with her prince going to the ends of the earth for her. Every girl does I think. Olly on the other hand, knew how to please Gemma in every way but commitment. Honesty has always been their thing, which I find so important. It is the old age saying of you never know what you had until it slips through your fingers.

What I loved most about this book was how authentic it felt. There was no instalove and amazing hot sex from the get go, it was developed over time, like realistic relationships. These two were adorable with their banter and ribbing. The other side characters were a delight to hear from as well. I recommend this book to any lover of rom-coms and second chance romances.

*I received a copy for an honest review.

This is only the second book I'd Carrie Aaron's and I can't wait to read more. Loved this book it's a brilliant romantic comedy which have been known to be one of my favs.

There were so many lessons in this book that as a single female you could take away from and learn about trying to meet "the one" and when expectations are not met when you meet men.

Gemma was such an independent, strong women who all she really wanted in life was to find her Prince Charming her "one" even though she was still young it's all she wanted. She had her career sorted, had the best friends she could ask for, all she wanted was for someone to love her

Oliver is a straight shorter and very successful and doesn't want commitment and is very open about that, but when your risk the thought of losing someone, bam then all the money in the world won't stop him trying to get what he wants.

This is a fun loving, sassy, cute, lovable story and I really really enjoyed the banter and the way the story was told. If your looking for something funny, lighthearted and you love a sexy nerd this one is for you :)
