I'm just so frustrated by this series and the writing. It is hard to explain without spoilers, but now I'm finding it even harder as I strive to be constructive too.

There are just so many gaps in the story. More and more people or grand schemes are introduced, but still with no set up, foreshadowing, hints, and /or connections. Just bam. We do at least learn more about the m/c's than we did in the previous stories.

The flow is still choppy. Threads are completely left unfinished. One minute Sky is having a heartfelt conversation on missing his chipmunk. Then the next, he argues vehemently why he does not (with no acknowledgement of the previous conversation). I understand he's supposed to be a diva, but no family or relationship can survive a person that uses sooooo many "I statements" plus never bends, never listens, yet expects everyone else too. The author tries to make him likable by other characters stating all the good he's done, but we rarely actually see it.

Then there was the huge missing part of Hardy's big reveal. He starts with this shocking statement. Explains the background, but never addresses the how or why of the initial statement. In fact, it's actually like the author changed her mind or forgot, because there is no reference to it. In fact, it appears the timeline and events completely change? I'd explain more and cite evidence if I could without spoilers.

My only thoughts on Emry's big reveal is, "Really? That background and he's a dingo?".

How many of the "big bad guys" we are told about are going to end up not really evil?

Positives are that once again the story itself had potential, but I'm not seeing a lot of growth in the writing or in the characters.

I'm afraid, I have one more book I already bought (The first Haven Island), I will read it, but I cannot see buying any more after that. Truly as much effort as it must take to write and create, I do not understand why these feel like they were never read carefully or polished. Some of these things are not minor issues.
