The Aurora Borealis. The Northern Lights. A natural phenomenon which illuminates the northern skies with one of nature’s most spectacular light shows. With a winter trip to Norway to hunt and hope to photograph the northern lights planned I was worrying about how to use my cameras (a point and shoot vs. a more traditional and powerful zoom camera). I came to this book with minimal understanding of ISO (bigger numbers are better the lower the light?) And came out of it with a "plan" for not only how to set the ISO, but exposure length and other features. I'm now ready to experiment with my cameras in some low light environments so I can get comfortable with what I just learned, and build my confidence.
The book also starts out with a good / easy to understand explanation of how to understand kp numbers and forecasts, helping to "demystify" some of the hunting process and again boost my confidence both in my research / preparations, and in my odds of seeing the Northern Lights.
The author is from Tuscany, and while the English here is not pristine / fluent English, it is understandable, and does an excellent job of conveying his meaning and a lot of very useful material.
I can't wait to share this with my travel companions, I think Leonardo Papera may have improved out trip, and the quality of our pictures.
