A fan-favorite series by adored author Yonezou Nekota continues in single volumes.
Playboy Maya catches studious Nemugasa cheating on a test, and to ensure his silence Maya blackmails Nemugasa into doing whatever he wants!
Nemugasa and Maya are about to go on their first shopping date, so of course Nemugasa borrows a fashion magazine to do a little studying up! Clothes shopping with Maya is enough to get Nemugasa in a romantic mood, but when he spots something while waiting at Shibuya’s famous scramble crossing, his jealousy skyrockets! Just what could he have seen to put him in such a “biting” mood?
LISTEN this book was so good and the ending oh my the ending...... hold on... *grabs car keys and heads to bookstore for vol.7* It was so good I seriously am in love with this series. And maya finally feeling his guilt! I need my tissues!!
OMGGGG> These chapters went by way too quickly. I totally forgot just how much I really like this series. HAHHAA. I need to buy them whenever I see them and start collecting them.
So Okino and Nemu were in a beauty contest and Nemu totally aroused Maya. They ended up going to the hotel and making Nemu miss out on the contest but Okino made it to the next round. Okino wasn't able to make it to the finals, though, and they all went to the festival afterwards. I wonder what sort of festival it was. HAHAHA. They were eating phallic treats.
Maya brings along Ruka and then another guy for Okino to meet because he wanted a boyfriend. I already loved megane characters so the guy was A+ for me but he wasn't HOT like Maya so Okino was devastated. Besides, the guy has the same name as the guy who dumped him a long time ago. Whelp, Okino goes and flirts and is being dragged by some guy who just wants his booty and glasses follows him. Immediately, I can sense where this story is going because... yeah. It happened to Maya and Nemu in the beginning. Practically rape-like, right? Yeah.
Glasses stops the guy and even reveals his face without glasses. OMGGGG. HAHAHAH. I totally think that Okino will end up being his boyfriend. That "ba-dump", though. I love how in love Nemu and Maya completely are.
As Okino retells what happened, Maya is thinking about the past because he used to treat Nemu that way but Nemu misunderstands and just thinks that Maya is soon to tell him that he prefers girls. HAHAH. Then they confront each other over their problems and have a good time.
Morning comes and a strange guy appears, holding Maya tenderly but it ended up being Nemu.
It's revealed that the strange guy is Maya's dad and both dudes are completely naked. HAHAHHA. OOOOOOH.

This volume is more of a collection of one shot stories about our favorite characters. Nemugasa and Maya on a shopping date. Akira and Shimakawa getting cuddly. Nemu and Maya exploring some cross dressing. Okino being introduced to Kitani whom is rather plain until he takes off his glasses. The volume ends with a banger of a cliff hanger, which is a MUST SEE TO BELIEVE and makes me want to sprint into the next volume. Important note in this volume: Maya finally comes to understand that the first time was sexual assault, so this may cause triggers for some who might not have ended up in a love relationship with their assaulter. Probably one of the more graphic volumes so far. So, bonus!
It takes 6 books for Maya to realize that what he did to Nemugasa in Volume 1 was assault, but in most stories that never happens, so it's still pretty much a win. This would've been a full five stars if they'd actually spent any time talking about it beyond the apology - Maya deserved to steep in that guilt for a while longer, and discuss with Nemugasa what had changed and how he'd treat him in future. But it's something, at least, and I appreciate that it was brought up at all as something that would never happen in their relationship again.
And Okino's story was so good. He's such a cutie, and his new relationship with plain-but-kind Kutani was super, super cute. Love seeing it. Glad that Ruka isn't seeming to be any sort of a villain, and actually has decent friends like that.
I did think there'd be a bit more of a conversation about Nemugasa's insecurities when it comes to Maya's sexuality, too; Maya's obviously bi or at least pretty fluid, so there's no real cause for concern, but it's an insecurity of Nemugasa's that's worth addressing. Maybe there will be more of that later on? There's still a lot of story left to go.
And of course we're ending on that cliffhanger of Maya's parents finally entering the picture in the worst way possible...
Maya's and Nemu's antics makes anyone swoon or just think how silly they are sometimes. There were some topics that makes the reader and some characters think about the consequences of their acts and the importance of forgiveness and moving on.
Lastly, there is that pretty annoying thing known as a cliffhanger, now I have to wait for the next vol to come up, and I hope that it comes out soon.
Maya takes on offers Ruka caters to him like modelling and Nemu gets self conscious and decides to get a job as a teacher. the 2+3 chapters are Akiras relationship with Naoya san 4th is Okino kuns backstory mayas reflection on their beginning with Nemu and realization and apology on what he never yet considered but was rape. the volume closes with a bang when mayas dad comes home from overseas and finds his son together with nemugasa naked in bed.
I really appreciate that Nekota is at least acknowledging the issues with the way the story started, specifically how the main characters initially got involved. The series has progressed beyond that particular awful trope, and even if Nekota can't entirely absolve herself of its use, she's at least noting that it wasn't an okay thing to have done.
Everyone is still very immature but I did not expect the throwback to volume 1!
Volume 1 was very much a product of its time so a reflection of Maya on that time isn’t something I’ve ever seen before. I wonder if the mangaka ever spoke on this topic? It would be very interesting to read their thoughts on this change.
Don’t date someone because you think that they look hot…. Instead, you should fall in love due to the emotional connection you have with them. At least, that’s my take on relationships. If y’all intend to keep seeing someone, you should have some type of connection with them that isn’t based purely on physical stuff.
Glad that it went and addressed the way this whole thing began and the fact that it wasn't exactly something to be celebrated. That got a bit brushed over afterwards but it was still important to try and show that. Otherwise the relationships do continue on....
0/10 One of the worst things i've read in my entire life. Couldn't get past vol.6 - 04. The black haired lead was disgusting. He blackmailed and raped the glasses boy and that's how their "relationship" started. It was disturbing. I don't even know how i continued reading after the first volume.
Okay, this book took up an issue that I had with the whole series. Glad to see it addressed. I know that some readers probably never made it this far because of that issue. Good volume.
