In a post-apocalyptic world of vampires vs. humans, Yuichiro brings vengeance upon his vampire overlords!
After trumpets of the apocalypse proclaim the fall of humanity, vampires arise from the shadows to rule the earth. Yuichiro wants just one thing—to get revenge by killing each and every vampire.
Ferid has successfully coerced Shinoa Squad and Mika into joining him and Crowley on a field trip to Osaka. According to Ferid, the purpose of the trip is to see the truth behind the calamity that ended the word—ground zero of the apocalypse in Osaka. But not all is as it seems, as vampire nobles from across the world are also converging on Osaka!
so much goofing around in such a serious story . . . when Mitsu complains that she's "getting stupid anime antenna hair" and Mika: "I'm surrounded by morons." sh*t is about to go down . . .
Though wary, Yu, Mika, and the squad continue their bus trip with Ferid. Meanwhile, some vampire backstory is revealed – most intriguingly, that there was a “first progenitor” who created Krul and all the other oldest vampires we’ve met, and that she used to have a sibling named Ashera, who became someone quite close to Yu. Meanwhile, back in the human world, Kureto Hiragi plans a coup on his own father. Note: If you’ve been waiting to see Ferid get hurt…well, this is the volume for you!
Favorite moments (spoilers, obviously!) - We already knew vampires could re-attach severed limbs and survive a bullet to the skull, but we get some extra indications of their durability here. Specifically, Ferid’s durability! First Crowley stomps on the bus brakes and sends him flying through the windshield, and he has to twist his head back around the right way. Then a senior vampire rips out his heart, holds it for a few minutes, and then sticks it back in right before he turns into a demon from blood loss. Then he and Krul both get crucified without their UV-protection rings, causing them to burst into flames! That one is less trivial. Crowley is kind of impressed that anything can get Ferid to stop joking around and actually scream. - Rigr Stafford, AKA Saito, is one of the second progenitor generation of vampires - or he was. Judging by the magical chains that he can shoot out of his body, he’s become…something else. And he isn’t keen on playing by the First’s rules (whatever those are) anymore. Rigr, incidentally, is Ferid’s “father” – and Crowley’s, indirectly, since Ferid used his blood to turn him! Rigr’s also the one who brought Yu and Mika to the Hyakuya orphanage. Hmm… - Yu’s reaction to the crucifixions is to want to rescue Ferid and Krul; The former, presumably, so that he can tell them more about the Seraph of the End, the latter because she saved Mika’s life by turning him. Interestingly, though, gentle little Yoishi is clearly getting ideas for what he’d like to do to the vampire who killed his sister!
3.5 stars This volume starts the strangest way possible, Yuu’s squad are having a discussion in some random men’s bathroom so that the vampires cannot hear them.
In chap 49, Krul is still prisoner of Ferid Bathory. There is some flashback about the vampire Queen childhood.
The vampire hierarchy is a little bit complicated, I would need a chart to see who is related to who. The vampire progenitor Council arrive to Osaka Bay, this is a trap to lure Rigr Stafford, a second progenitor out. Ferid wants to get rid of him and have plan to use the human to do so.
Yoichi (a character who have been put in the background so often) come face to face with Lacus, the vampire who have killed his sister. Krul & Ferid are accuse of being traitors and are torture. Yuu’s and his team allies themselves with Crowley to save the two vampires.
This volume was quite different and is more focus on the vampire side. A lot of information are feed to us, there is also new characters.
This series has always been so wild because every volume seems so short but then so much happens? Maybe I just read them too fast lmao. We get more information and truly insane level shit now like damn go off I guess.
We learn more about the vampire hierarchy and how certain vampires came from one sire. We get introduced to new characters and I'm very unsure of who is on whose side anymore??
I love how all this heavy shit is going on but kids will be kids and they goof off a little bit. Mitsuba saying she had "anime hair" and Mika saying he was surrounded by morons lol. All while they had their discussion in a random rest stop bathroom on their little road trip with Ferid and Crowley.
Crowley roasting Ferid and calling him a twisted perverted kidnapper, I was dying. 😭 And he was right for that!!!
Still thinking about how gas it is how two vampires supposedly not as powerful as Krul easily overpowered her and then she can't escape either.🙄
Absolutely in love with Yoichi finally showing teeth omg. He's been stuck in the background this whole time but then came out with that? His desire for revenge and his power is so underestimated and that's so 🤌. I appreciate his demon being a hot buff dude as well because I swear all of them have been appearing as cute girls so far.
Love finally getting an answer to a question I thought since the beginning: do these vampires burn in sunlight? The answer is 1000% yes.💀
Ferid Bathory lures a suspicious Yu, Mika, Makoto, and the rest of Shinoa Squad to Osaka Bay, tempting them with promises of revealing both Guren Ichinose’s secrets and those of the Seraph of the End. Accompanying them is Crowley Eusford, who has goals of his own he wishes to use Ferid and the others to accomplish. Alas for them all, the entire legion of vampires are waiting for them. Ferid gets captured and Krul Tepes falls into the hand of Second Progenitor Urd Geales and his army. Urd Geales has more important things on his mind than Ferid or the queen, let alone any of the humans with him, for he’s caught the scent of a dangerous, ancient vampire, one that Krul is quite familar with, and that Ferid and Crowley have a grudge deep enough against to ally with Guren Ichinose and his former subordinates. No, their offers of alliance aren’t all for the sake of Yu’s pretty green eyes, although quite a few characters seem to get sucked into Yu’s impulsive moments of heroic compassion, including Crowley himself. Perhaps we can all it Yu-ism or Yu-itude? :) Mikaela Hyakuya may argue with Yu’s kindness, but he’s decided to go along with it for now, along with Makoto and Shinoa Squad. Youichi Saotome has always been a devout follower of Yu-itude, as well as a kind, compassionate boy himself, but much darker impulses rises to the surface at the sight of Lacus Welt, the murderer of Youichi’s sister, to the delight of Gekkouin, Youichi’s demon. In the meantime, Guren Ichinose has gotten back together his old gang and appears to returning to his former self as he, too, heads for Osaka Bay. Just how much of what’s happening is going according to Ferid and his plan?
Striking changes and deeper explorations of the characters took place in this volume, even as the plot heated up, literally for Ferid Bathory and Krul Tepes. Readers met monsters far worse than either of them, catching glimpses of Krul and Ferid’s motivations for some of their actions. Krul revealed more vulnerability, becoming more sympathetic, even as she retained her fierceness while Ferid became a victim for the first time in this series, a victim who generated a measure of pity, even as he takes a bite out of Kimizuki’s neck. (First Yu, now Kimizuki. This leaves me wondering if Ferid Bathory will end up chomping on everyone in Shinoa Squad and/or Makoto Narumi.) To balance out this gentler side in the antagonists, one of the normally gentle protagonists showed a sadistic side lurking within his sweetness. Youichi Saotome is becoming a very complex and well-rounded character, leaving me intrigued as to how he’ll develop in the future. Mitsuba Saiga had her most hilarious line yet in this series, while Shinoa keeps a cool head and a sense of humour, even if its quality sometimes inspires eyeball rolling. (Honestly, Shinoa, what did you think a bathroom was for? Don’t let her shame you, Mitsu!) Crowley becomes even more layered in this volume as well, experiencing a turning point as he reacts to Yu’s emotions, becoming more and more intrigued by this boy who under other circumstances he’d love to fight/eat. Instead, the vampire becomes the young human/demon/seraph’s mentor. Readers become better acquainted with familar faces, such as Saito, Lest Karr, while revelations came to light about Asuramaru and his past connection to Krul Tepes. Certain mysteries are starting to unravel, keeping me intrigued, wondering what’s happening, what’s going to happen next, even it as it all presents itself in an exquisitely beautiful art style. For all of these things, I give this book four stars.
One of the things I liked the most about this volume was that finally we're seeing the vampires' social structure and power dynamics, something that --in contrast with the Demon Imperial Army's background-- was lacking in the first volumes of this manga. There was also important character development for Ferid, Crowley, Krul, and Ashuramaru, along with the appearance of second progenitor Saito/Rígr Stafford; a nice number of surprises there.
Regarding Ferid, that vampire is really something. He's threatening, intelligent, and cunning as hell, but he plays the pieces of a chessboard he himself put there, even if that means putting his own life on the line in order to achieve his goals.
Bonus: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Yoichi isn't as nice as it seems and, man, Gekkoin, Yoichi's hot and sculptured demon, is finally introduced.
Another good 3.5/5 volume. This was a fun volume covering the raucous enactment and outcome of Ferid's plan. This one focuses a lot on the older progenitors which is nice. We don't know much about them but we learn about Lest Karr, Urd Gales, Krul, Asamaru, and Saito. Later on we do get a bit of a moment with a human character when Yoichi I'm split on the focus given to Yoichi. I fear the humans in the Shinoa squad are becoming less and less plot relevant so the drama with Yoichi is nice (and Gekkouin's absolutely hot demon form is a nice plus lol). But the talk between Yoichi and Gekkouin had poor substance. But Gekkoin's argument that Yuichiro is being selfish by having the Shinoa squad help his personal issue therefor Yoichi should let the squad help with his personal issue is a strong one. Yoichi's secretly feeling like a bad person for wanting to response is a weak counter argument and I'm surprised Gekkouin accepted it rather than pester him further for possession. Additionally, while the art is still great in general Saito's design feels weak to me. I get it the generic salaryman aesthetic but it feels lackluster. Also, Urd Geales is hot but the way Yamamoto draws his white hair's shine with the halo effect just looks ugly and is distracting.

I wasn't expecting to like this volume as much as I did. Kagami pulled out so many reveals this time, with the vampires, a new antagonist, Yoichi's anger towards the vampire who killed his sister, and Gekkouin's human form (which is STUNNING). We even got an inner look into the vampires' own corruption, which goes to show how every organization in this franchise doesn't have smooth sailing. It's honestly quite smart.
I'm not sure what's going to happen next with these new developments, but just know I'm very excited and I'm ready.
F rainha vampira.

Though wary, Yu, Mika, and the squad continue their bus trip with Ferid. I loved the backstory in this volume and I feel like we're finally seeing the inner works of the vampire society!
So we get a lot of info dumps like who some of the demons were before they were demons and even goes in depth about how demons are formed and we do learn a little bit more about the Seraphs but it is still a mystery. We even learn more about the history of the vampires especially about both of the 2nd progenitors.
