A one night stand, a simmering family feud and a hastily arranged marriage of convenience - what could possibly go wrong?
Jonathon
The Hawthornes - ugh, even hearing the name makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
If my father was going to scrap with another family in my crummy home town, it was no surprise it turned out to be them.
I'm sure they're as sharp as a bag full of hammers, so I'll help him settle this thing and then it's back to Chicago where I belong.
But as long as I'm here, I might as well take a chance on that little firecracker across the bar.
She's gorgeous, and it's not like I'll ever see her again, so what have I got to lose?
Olivia
I agreed to come home one last time, but I'm only helping my father out of a jam.
As soon as I settle this stupid little skirmish with the McCallisters, it's back to New York City where I belong.
But since I'm here for a few days, I might as well take a drink from that tall, handsome glass of water looking at me from across the bar.
It would be the most fun I've ever had in this sleepy little town, and then I'll be out of here for good.
*** Dirty Neighbor is a contemporary romantic comedy that is heavy on the steam. Standalone with no cliffhangers, no cheating, and a happily ever after you can hang your heart on! ***
What a brilliant book Olivia and Johnathan Modern day Romeo and Juliet Except Much much sexier Vivian has a beautiful manner with prose Great intro to st the scene Terrific complication Amazingly delicious sex scenes Great character development Fantastic surprises Five shooting stars
This book was advertised as a romantic comedy but I found it to be neither of these things. I thought it was juvenile and ridiculous and wouldn't recommend it.
I received a ARC copy for exchange of my honest review.
"A Dirty Neighbor you can't even imagine what will do to make her plans work."
The most enjoyable reading ever! Dirty Neighbor is a quick reading story, light and pleasant, illustrating the lives of two forever enemies who made one mistake. An one night stand kind of mistake! The bad news are they had to lie to their families. The good news are they had a happy ever after in the end because they deserved it.
Olivia Hawthrown had to leave New York and come back to help her family who lived in Madison County, because of a recent occurrence. A survey that was at her father's hands didn't match with an old one survey which was at the hands of their neighbor, who unfortunately passed away after he sold the land to McAllister family. These two families had a long history behind them. For an unreasonable reason, the two families hated each other for many decades but now they had to come to compromise and solve their little problem of land before they forced to be in the court room.
Olivia didn't knew that her first one night out with her bestie there, will end in one night stand with Jonathon McAllister, a surname she didn't make her mind to ask him. So, when she first saw him in the court room, she knew first hand that, everything will end in disaster between the two families if she didn't think fast enough. Olivia is one strong, independent, smart woman who doesn't leave anything in luck. She has dreams and none of them include her at Madison County. So when she saw that this survey problem will crash her dreams, all she had to do is to create a fake relationship with Jonathon. None of it tho kept her from falling for him in the end.
Jonathon McAllister, the only son of McAllister family, came back home for the same reason as Olivia did. His first night out ended to be the most amazing night he ever had so far. Unfortunately he knew that it was only a one night stand and nothing more. However, his fate brought Olivia back into his arms in the most unexpected way. Her lie infront of their parents, about them being in a relationship, was an alley for him to be close to her again and have his way on her body. He truly love it and deep inside love her too. She wasn't a woman just like the others and he was in awe of her for many reasons. That's why, when things didn't went as planned he let his heart speak for him.
Their chemistry wasn't much obvious at first. Olivia showed a strong character in contrast to Jonathon's. She had an attitude which I can only translate it as a shelter of her fear to maybe stick in Madison forever. However, as the storyline unfolds it was palpable that these two were very much into each other. Both determined to solve the land problem and keep on with their lives, didn't expect the unexpected to happen. The four weeks deadline before both families solve their problem with a judge, was a marathon of extreme ideas and more complicated situations. I enjoyed each one, all of these though were most expected, and I loved each time Olivia and Jonathon were together. She definitely had him in the palm of her hand, and he truly enjoyed it. They were one of the most unexpected couples to be and ended one of the most fitting ones in a long shot.
Dirty Neighbor is a well written, enjoyable story, depicting all these little details about Coloranto's cast of mind and believes. Who could know that after twentieth century, some things didn't change? It was fascinating to see everyone interact with their personal Coloranto attitude, all spitfire and all. The fathers of these two families were like two bulls into a glass store every time they were in the same room and watching Olivia's magic talent to keep them at bay with her extreme ideas each time was really impressive. What I liked most was the unexpected end. The author had a very good cart in her sleeve which showed it in the end, leaving me a very very happy reader with a smile on my face.
Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with unforgettable stories.
Dirty Neighbour by Vivian Connelly a great four-star read. This was the first book by this author I have read, and it won’t be the last, I loved it. The McCallisters and The Hawthorns have been fighting over a plot of land, when their children are both pulled back into the fold, to help out the cause. They both think they will be home for a few days, then they can leave the sleepy little town and get back to real life. But a night in a bar changes things for both of them. When they see each other across the bar they both like what they see, and its only one night, they will never see each other again, they leave soon enough. At least that’s what they think, fate seems to have a different plan for them, and you will need to read the book to find out more. Vivian Connelly writes funny and caring people, they are hot and heavy, and sweet all at once.
A short, modern day Romeo and Juliet romance story with plenty of steam, laugh out loud moments, a one night stand, a family feud, an arranged marriage, a great story-line, well-developed characters, and explosive chemistry.
I volunteered to review an advanced readers copy of this book.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for providing a review. i enjoyed the book. i felt it was really fast paced but still good. we meet Olivia, home for a month to help her father with land dispute, then she is gone to NYU to get her MBA. she is out with her bestie at a bar and is interrupted by a hottie wearing an ugly tweed jacket. they dance and then he drives her "home." they end up at the lake make-out spot and get heated. Jonathan is home to help his dad out over a land dispute. he doesnt want to be stuck there as he has a job in Chicago waiting for him. A night out with his bud lands his a beauty for an unbelievable night. a get-together of sorts of both parties to discuss the land dispute ends up interesting when both olivia and jonathan are in teh same room and their families are arch rivals...WTF!! both paternal matriarchs are at a standstill with words flying when olivia blurts out that her and jonathan are dating...that stops everything in their tracks. olivia and jonathan decide to go with the charade for the next 2 weeks until the next hearing. they hope that it will be settled. well thats an understatement. words again are slung like on a battle ground and olivia declares her and jonathan are engaged so they need to get over it. now they have dug an even deeper hole. both of them want out of that small town and get back to their lives. but will it happen? will their families learn the truth about their "engagement?" will ghosts from their past ruin the charade or will truths be revealed?
Olivia and Cynthia were sitting in a bar over drinks, talking about old times. Olivia would be going back to NYU soon, but Cynthia wished she would come back home and stay. She was back in town only to help her father with a property dispute matter with the McCallisters. Then she was going back to NY. But as she and Cynthia were chatting, a tall man came over to their table and asked her to dance. Later, she asked him to take her home; but she directed him to Potter’s Lake, a make-out spot from her high school days. She’s had 4 cosmos and would not be coming back to Madison County again, so why not enjoy the evening with this stranger?
The next day, Jonathon met with his dad, a wheat farmer, at the courthouse. They were going to do battle with a cattle rancher and had to review the situation. Now they were ready to meet the enemy! And in walked Olivia!
This was a fast-paced, good story right from the start. The dialog was amusing and even guessing where the situation was headed did not spoil the fun of getting there! Things got so complicated and Jonathon had his hands full trying to deal with the feisty Olivia! I readily recommend this book – it’s laugh-out-loud funny and definitely worth reading! I voluntarily read a review copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
Olivia Hawthorne has come home to help her father with a land issue before she makes her way to her new life in New York City. she and her best friend are in the local bar and she is on her 3rd drink when she notices a tall drink of water come in with his friend she continues to watch and eventually the tall drink comes to the toward their table and she is sure he is interested in Cynthia because most guys are and she is left with the friend so she watches he starts toward them and then stops and starts again when he gets to the table and introduces himself as Jonathan McCallister he says he doesn't do this but still she has another drink and then they are at the lake where the kids go to make out and they have a one night stand they don't expect to see each other again but when Monday morning comes they meet in the courthouse for an Arbitration between her father and his father and when they see other they both cannot help but let a curse fly from their lips and from there the hilarity continues until the last page. This is a hilarious romance. I received an Advance Reader Copy for an honest review, I could give nothing else.
Olivia and Jonathan are from the same small town. Both want to escape to the big city and make their lives there. Both have been called home to help their families in a land feud. The families are fighting over 10 acres of land from different surveys. Neither family wants to pay a lawyer or court costs so an agreement needs to be made. Olivia and Jonathan came up with a good compromise which could work if members of their family could keep their big mouths shut. However that seems to be impossible. Insults fly and the deal seems hopeless until Olivia announces that she and Jonathan are dating and in love. Now the two have to conspire to help their families and each other. People of the town are thrilled with the Romeo and Juliet type relationship. Can Olivia and Jonathan help their families do the right thing> What happens if their pretend relationship turns real? I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
Olivia is back in town temporarily to help her father resolve a land dispute. While she’s in town, a harmless sexy hook-up would be good to end her dry spell.
Jonathon is back in town temporarily to help his father resolve a land dispute. While he’s in town, a harmless sexy hook-up turns out to be much more complicated than he’d envisaged!
“She was looking at me and smiling, and I realized then I didn’t want it to ever end.”
What starts out as a one-night-stand escalates into a fake relationship and so much more!
This is something of a humorous, Romeo-and-Juliet-style story. Olivia and Jonathon come from feuding families – a mutual hatred fuelled for generations. Olivia is the impulsive plotter of their machinations. As they get mired in their lies, real feelings are awakened, and when they realise that they might lose something precious before it’s even properly begun, both need to make a stand against their families for a chance at true happiness.
When you think you meet that one person who you can have a one night stand with without worrying about seeing that person again. Olivia just wants to get back to NYU but is at home in Colorado to help her father. Jonathan is back in town to help his dad but wants to get back to Chicago to start his new job. When these 2 meet, they don't know anything about each other except their first names. Well they both come from families that hate each other and have for many years. They don't know this until they go to court with their families to fight over land that both of their father's feel belongs to them. Get ready for the Hatfield and McCoys of 2017 with this book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book about two rival families arguing over land. Olivia and Jonathan meet while out with their respective BFFs and sparks fly. Olivia tells Jonathan that she's only in the area for a short while and they jump into what they thought would be a one-night stand... The next day they find themselves on opposing sides of a table at arbitration. Oops, last names might have kept them from steaming up the windows (good for us!).
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. It was quite amusing, especially Olivia's take-charge attitude which kept getting them deeper and deeper into their scheme. Jonathan and Olivia were adorable together. Kudos to Vivian Connelly for writing the story like the characters were acting their age.
I received his book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review. This was a fun, sweet and steamy story between two warring families. Present day Romeo and Juliet, as was described in the book but with a HEA. It had great characters and plot. I wish we knew why the families disliked each other so much though. This book was straightforward without a bunch of crazy tangents! Really fun!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the second book of Ms Connelly's that I have read and it is just as good. I loved the chemistry that Olivia and Jonathan have. This story was a new take on feuding families of bygone days since it is set in the rural farmlands of Colorado. I found it refreshing that Olivia was the one who was coming up with all the ways to get their fathers to come to an agreement over the land between the two families. In some of the books I have recently read it's the alpha male who is coming up with crazy ways to keep the girl. First she tells the fathers that they are dating, then they are in love. There are other things she throws in the mix but I do not want to give away the whole story. You will have to read for yourself. This was a fantastic read with an HEA!
I received this Arc and am giving a voluntary review. Olivia and Jonathan have returned to their family's farms to help their father's settle a land dispute that neither can afford to take to court. Olivia wants to return to New York and Jonathan need to be in Chicago, but the gods are against them. When Jonathan and Olivia hook up unbeknownst to the other who they really are the roller coaster ride begins. This is a great take on the Hatfield and McCoys. Jonathan is fairly straight-laced and is completely taken over by Olivia who says things on the spur of the moment to stop their fathers from arguing. During each encounter between the families Olivia takes her relationship with Jonathan a little more intense until she pulls the ultimate card which isn't a lie. This was a fun book to read and I kept wondering what Olivia was going to do next and how Jonathan was going to react. There are the fun sexy scenes but that isn't the main focus of the book.
Vivian Connelly has put a new twist on Romeo and Juliet --or maybe the Hatfields and McCoys--with Dirty Neighbor. This book is a kick from the very beginning. We're talking a good storyline, a great group of characters, a little good loving, some jealousy, and a really good HEA. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and totally enjoyed it.)
This one is well worth your time...be sure to 1-Click it today! ❤️
Two families have been fighting over land for years. Jonathon and Olivia start dating before they realize they're supposed to be enemies. Now that Jonathon and Olivia are engaged, it's time for the families to stop fighting.
Will Olivia and Jonathon stop the feud between the two families? Or will the feud break up Olivia and Jonathon?
I loved this book. I laughed so much, my stomach hurt. Get this book and read it.
A first for me with this author and I will gladly read more from her. Olivia and Jonathan SHOULD be sworn enemies. Olivia hates the small, country town where she lives and will do just about anything to get away and stay away. Jonathan feels the same. Both come home to save their families from what is sure to be impending doom in one way or another. When they meet they have no clue that they are supposed to not like each other. One night..that is all they wanted. But life and circumstances get in the way. From one hilarious lie to another they become joined together to help each family get what they want and they need. What they never expect is to actually fall for each other. This book WAS heavy on the steam and I certainly wouldn't want it any other way.
Dirty Neighbor, by Vivian Connelly, was a deliciously fun read. Two strangers in a bar - what could possibly develop from that start? This author knows how to deliver an excellent story adding the just the right mix of comedy/humor, drama and hot steaminess!
3 1/2* Olivia & Johnathon meet in a bar hook up thinking they won't meet again. Imagine there surprise when they meet with there families the next day. Can they stop the family war. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book Good book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I loved Olivia & Jonathan's story. It kept me wanting more. It was so hot & erotic...plus they had great chemistry. Reminded me a bit of Romeo & Juliet. Enjoyed this new author to me. Looking forward to reading more. Awesome book!!!
This book wasn't really my cup of tea. Honestly, I thought Olivia was annoying and Jonathan just did whatever she said. It was well-written, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The characters just didn't work for me.
Olivia and Jonathon are from opposing families and try to stop the feud by claiming they are together. Things move pretty fast, and they fall in love. This was a good story. Olivia is pretty sly and Jonathon seems more the silent type. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
An okay read that had a good storyline but just didn’t reach its full potential. Both main characters felt slightly young and unsure at times and I struggled to like them. That said okay read but I’d not pursue the next one.
Family alliances are strong things, but what happens when two people decide that in order to stop the feuding, they must act the part of a couple? Will either be able to admit in the end that maybe they weren't acting after all? Will they be willing to change their individual dreams and create a life together?
Loved the concept of the forbidden love for two feuding families and had to laugh when time and time again Olivia's mouth just got them into more trouble! Honestly loved both of the main characters and how Jonathan was willing to admit his feelings. At some points in the story, I questioned if both sides of the family were actually trying to get them together regardless of their feelings. With this book you got the hot and the sweet. Can't wait for more from this author!

This is the first book I have read by Vivian Connelly and I loved it. It was fun to read. I love how sassy Olivia was and how she just plowed threw everyone to get what she wanted. She wanted Jonathan she just didn't know it at the time. Jonathan was sweet and hot all rolled into one. It was fun to read this book. It had me smiling and laughing out loud a lot. You throw in their family and grandma's basil root tea and you are in for a lot of laughs. This book is 5 stars for sure. You should give it a try.
I voluntarily received an ARC for my honest review.
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
This is a modern day Romeo and Juliet story. So for originality it loses a little. It's a bi predictable as to how things will turn out.
However it is definitely a fun modern take. There's of course crazy family dramas and feuds, laughter, and sadness. I definitely recommend as a fun time read!
