Debby Giusti is a medical technologist who loves working with test tubes and petri dishes almost as much as she loves to write. Growing up as an Army Brat, Debby met and married her husband – then a Captain in the Army – at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Together they traveled the world, raised three wonderful Army Brats of their own and have now settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where Debby spins tales of suspense that touch the heart and soul.
I haven’t read the first story in this series but I don’t think it detracted in any way as I thoroughly enjoyed this superb romantic suspense story which obviously works well as a standalone.
Hannah Miller is travelling to endeavour to discover what has happened to her sisters after they were kidnapped and their mother murdered. From the very start this is an action packed story where someone is now out to get Hannah, too. She is rescued by Lucas Grant and taken to the Inn run by an Amish lady where he works. Lucas is a former police officer who is considering becoming Amish. However, when danger keeps threatening Hannah and the young women from the local community, he’ll need to put his detective skills to work again and ask for God’s guidance as he tries to save them all. Can Lucas protect Hannah without going back to his previous non-Amish ways? Can Hannah find and be reunited with her sisters? Is this really a case of human trafficking?
This is a real page turner, fast paced and an enthralling read. I really didn’t want to put it down till I reached the end! (I had to, life intervenes sometimes no matter how brilliant the story is). It gives some great insights into the Amish without trying to indoctrinate or alienate the reader. There are some fantastic secondary characters in the story, too, and a definite sense of community and faith. This story doesn't end on a cliffhanger but there has to be more to come as one sister is still missing - I'll be looking out for that story! I thoroughly enjoyed this intriguing story and will definitely look out for more by this talented author in future.
I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
Intense suspense and toe-curling romance make this a read-in-one-sitting kind of book. Take a deep breath before diving in because you won't want to come up for air until everything is all resolved. Well...almost everything because this is the second book in the Amish protectors series and there is still one sister MIA. No worries, it's not really a cliff hanger ending though younger sister Sarah is still missing. Both Undercover Amish and the first book, Amish Refuge, read easily as standalones. I'm just really looking forward to when the sister are finally reunited. I need a happily ever after for everyone! :-)
This is the second book in this series that I read, but the author caught us up with what had previously happened, and you soon won’t be lost at all. This is Hannah’s story, and threats and dangers begin as soon after the first page is turned, but why, we soon finds out she resembles her sister. The backdrop of this story is very sinister, and when help comes, the author has woven another edge of the tale to include someone else taking refuge with the Amish, Lucas. You will be surprised as to how these two different people from different places are tied together. I am hoping that there is another book and that all of the answers are revealed, I felt that there should be more, we still have a missing sister. I was swiftly pulled into this story, and there is a lot of violence, although not graphic, but can you hide by wearing Amish clothing? I was quickly lost, and this is a fast paced read, and you will soon be page turning. I am going to be looking for more by this author. I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.
Undercover Amish is a book that will not let you stop reading until the very end. It is action packed, with three dimensional characters and suspense that keeps your heart racing and wondering what or who is going to be captured or hurt next. The hero and heroine are both trying to overcome their past at the B and B close to the Amish community of Willkommen, Georgia. However, Hannah’s life is being threatened with Lucas Grant drawn to protect her in his position as security guard for the B and B. Lucas’ previous law enforcement job led him to believe that the human trafficking was connected to the resort upon the mountain. Was that where Hannah’s sister had been taken after disappearing? Will Hannah and Lucas find answers before they are disposed with the man escaping each time he tried to attack Hannah? There’s a couple of underlying romances in the midst of the drama that readers will appreciate along with the faith message Debby Giusti pen in her stories.
Undercover Amish can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading Amish Refuge first. I look forward to the next book in this series about Sarah, Hannah and Miriam’s lost sister.
Undercover Amish I the second thrilling story written by Debby Giusti in her exciting Amish Protectors series. I absolutely loved this story and the characters. This story takes us back to Willkomme, Georgia and human trafficking involving the Amish. This story revolves the estranged sister of Miriam, Hannah. As Hannah approaches Willkomme she experiences car troubles in the dad of night. When a stranger happens upon her Hannah realizes quickly that this guy is dangerous. She flees for her life and manages to hide in a tree stand. This is where she meets her Amish protector Lucas. Deciding she can trust him Hannah travels 5o an Amish B&B where the adventure really ramps up. As Hannah and Lucas embark upon finding Hannah's sister Miriam they find danger at every turn. The conclusion will leave you in tears. Will Hannah ever find her two missing sisters? Will other Amish girls who are missing be found?
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not asked to post a favorable response. The opinions are my own but honest. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a n intriguing story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Debby Giusti for writing such an emotional packed story for her readers enjoyment.
Undercover Amish, by Debby Giusti, is the second book in the Amish Protectors series and it drew me in right from the start. The story continues with the human trafficking theme from the first book but with mostly new characters. It can be read as a stand-alone as the author does a good job of filling in the background of the story. Hannah has come to the Amish community of Wilkommen to find her sisters and on her way there finds herself running from danger. Who is after her and why? After wandering through life searching for something unknown, will she find what she is looking for in Wilkommen? Lucas, a former policeman and wannabe Amish is a man on a mission and yet doesn't quite understand his own heart when it comes to Hannah. Can he keep her safe especially if he embraces the Plain way of life? I loved these characters and how the Amish community is always willing to help in time of need. Giusti does a great job depicting the setting and bringing out realistic and relatable situations and emotions. I am looking forward to reading the next books in the series. I won a copy of the book in a contest and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.
This is my first Debby Gusti book. I couldn’t put it down. Hannah is being followed on her way to Wilkomen, Ga. Her mother was murdered and her sisters are missing. Now she is being followed. It,s night time and her car breaks down while being followed. She gets out to run into a field and climbs into a deer tree stand . She thinks the stalker leaves. Before she can get off the tree stand, a man finds her. Little does she know the twists and turns she will experiencing after she meets Lucas Grant, an ex policeman.... soon to be an Amish convert. Will Lucas and Hannah figure out why she is being followed and will Hannah find her sisters.
I just love to pick up a book, begin reading and cannot find a good place to stop so you keep reading!!! I find that when I pick up a Suspense book by Debby Giusti. This is book #2 in the Series and it does not disappoint the reader and you would not have to read book #1 to enjoy this book. Hannah and Lucas are wonderful characters with great chemistry so you feel like you know them or you could pick up the local newspaper and read about this event. Thank you Debby for this wonderful story and truly great characters.
Undercover Amish is by Debby Giusti. This is the second book in the series. It deals with sex trafficing and exploitation. It also deals with the interaction between siblings. Hannah Miller is searching for her sisters, Miriam and Sarah. The two girls were with their Mother going to try to find their Mother’s sister when their car was stopped and the two girls were kidnapped while their Mother was murdered. Hannah had left home several years earlier after an argument with her Mother. She had not kept in touch with them; but had never stopped thinking of her sisters. Now, she would never get a chance to even try to make amends with her Mother but she could try to find her sisters. Hannah’s search led her to Amish country where she hoped to find a clue as to where the girls were. However, with Hannah came a man in a blue flannel shirt who made several attempts to abduct Hannah to find Miriam. Hannah had stopped to get fuel and when she left, she had seen this man who was also getting fuel. He made her nervous until he headed to the highway and went in the other direction than she intended to go. Somewhat relieved, she headed towards Willkommen. On the dark road, her car suddenly developed problems. She was forced to stop in the middle of nowhere. Finally, a car came towards her. Her hope for help vanished when it was the man who had been at the station. He determined that her radiator had a hole in it and offered to take her for help. When she refused, he began insisting and she fled. Her flight through the woods brought her to a deer stand and she climbed it, hoping to avoid the man. Just as he started to climb the ladder, a rustle in the bushes led him away. She fell asleep on the stand. She was awakened by someone climbing the ladder. Her fear heightened; but she was determined to fight back. Lucas Grant was a former police officer who was intending to join the Amish faith. He worked at an Inn run by an Amish widow. He had resigned his commission after the death of his partner and the implication of both of them as being corrupt. Lucas had worked his way through some of his anger; but the Bishop was still reluctant to allow him to accept the Amish faith. The Bishop felt he still had to let go of more anger. Despite no longer being an officer, Lucas was still inclined to help protect the innocent. Thus, when he met Hannah, he felt the need to protect her. Can Lucas protect Hannah from the man who is after her without succumbing to non-Amish ways? Will Hannah find her sisters? Will Hannah find peace for herself among the Amish? This book helps one understand the Amish a little more although it does not dwell on their lifestyle. It does show how it is possible for the Amish to relate to someone in need who is not Amish.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Undercover Amish. This is the second book in the Amish Protectors Series. I really enjoy Debby's work and this book is an excellent example. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love this story.
Hannah Miller is returning to Willkommen to find out some answers about her mother's death and her sister's disappearance. She stops at a gas station and a man points to her and says she looks like the woman on TV. She looks at the TV to see her middle sister refuse to talk to the press and gets on a bus. Can she find Miriam and find out what has happened to her family. A man messed with her car at the station and she doesn't get far when the car over heats. A man from the station pulled over to help her offering her a ride to town, the man grabs her but she is able to run off into the woods. She hides in a deer stand in one of the trees. Exhausted she falls into a light sleep but is awoken by footsteps climbing the ladder.
Former police officer Lucas Grant rescues Hannah. Dressed as Amish, he tells her he is Amish in training. He convinces her to hide out in the Amish community as a Plain Woman. As he gets involved he finds out that the people after them were involved in the death of her mother and the disappearance of her sister. Can he protect her without getting lost in his old life again? Could these men be the same men who killed partner.
A great adventure of two brokenhearted souls searching for answers to their loss. God has a plan for these two, a good plan and not of evil. God has a plan for you too, just give Him your heart and turn over control and watch Him turn your life around.
Reviewed @ Thoughts By Tash Review copy kindly provided by the publisher in exchange for a honest review Whilst this is the third book in the series and things are heating up with the arc for the series . It can be read standalone as Daniels does brush over the previous events. In the last and final instalment, Boone McGraw tries to solve the case finally of the Mc Graw Kidnapping with the help of a PI who is determined to get under his skin and triumph.
Twenty five years has passed and whilst some of the kidnapping has been figured out. His sister is still missing and Boone is determined to solve things once and for all. Armed with some information , he goes to find Hank , a PI who has inquired about a vital clue to the kidnapping. Does he hold all the clues?
Well Boone isn’t taking any chances is ready to do his bit even if mean giving his father some bad news . Every little clue helps as the family wants answers. However I don’t he is prepared for what happens next.
He finds feisty PI CJ and a can of worms. As it seems that Hank is dead and CJ isn’t happy about the death . She isn’t what Boone is expecting all to say the least. She know how to do her job and doesn’t need a cowboy like him . CJ is no lady that going to be pushed over. She knows her stuff and Boone is what she doesn’t need right now
Rough Rider is nothing less then I expected from Daniels. Boone and CJ both wanted the best outcome and CJ is a very independent woman. SO I loved that Boone was challenged as CJ didn’t need protecting. She was more then capable of handling herself. Boone was more for the ride. She knew how to find what he need . Honestly I loved the tables were turned somewhat. Boone wasn’t a guy who wasn’t able to fend for himself. He wasn’t going to let CJ take it all on her own.
He was more then willing to help solve her problem to help with his even though it was costing time and there was other things he didn’t know about happening.
It was teamwork and obviously there was romance involved of course. But I was more invested in the mystery and the intriguing story unfolding that was told from multiple POV. It definitely live up to the intrigue line it part of and I loved how was so invested that I couldn’t figure out the ending on the mystery element. However the romance was obvious and I loved Daniel’s story. It has been a while since I read one and they are still enjoyable as years ago. Definitely recommending to read if you love your romantic suspense and want a woman who more than can handle herself.
Although this is part of the Amish Protectors series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Hannah is a bit stubborn, but that only adds to the danger element of this suspense. Romance takes a backseat, as danger seems to be everywhere, amping up the pace until the surprise reveal. This is not your typical Amish-themed tale.
After learning that her mother was murdered and her sisters are missing, Hannah Miller sets out to find them. Apparently, someone believes Hannah knows more than she does about her family’s whereabouts, which puts her in the crosshairs of danger. Despite her reluctance to get close to another man, Hannah has little choice but to rely on Lucas Grant, a former Englisch cop who is planning to join the Amish faith. Lucas thought he left law enforcement in the past, but he discovers that he may have a connection to those determined to prevent Hannah from finding out the truth. What secrets will be uncovered along the way? (LOVE INSPIRED SUSPENSE, Oct., 224 pp., $5.99)
From the cover: After Hannah Miller's mother is murdered and her sisters go missing, someone comes after her. Now the only way she can survive is to entrench herself in an Amish community...and rely on Lucas Grant, a former police officer who is planning to join the Amish faith, for protection. But finding refuge for Hannah--disguised as Plain at a secluded inn--pulls Lucas back into his old life. And when Lucas discovers the criminals after them may be the people who killed his partner, the mission to take them down becomes personal. With the assailants closing in, though, can Lucas stop them...and finally put his past behind him to start an Amish life with Hannah?
I’m sorry to give this book only 3 stars. I looked at the other reviews, but I just can’t go higher in my opinion. The lead female character appeared to be good, but I just could not get into the plot. I don’t know if it was the Amish background (but I have read other books written about or in the Amish community). The romance (as usual in this type of book) was very fast. I just did not enjoy the book. I usually love cozy mysteries with a little romance, but this did not hold my attention.
After reading this title, I found myself feeling a sort of peace. Every time I read any story based around the Amish there is always peace, but something about this one has made it more prominent.
The story was well developed and had perfectly designed characters. Lucas and Hannah had put me on edge and filled my heart with something I can't describe.
I loved every moment of this book and look forward to reading more from this author. This book is now a favorite. One of which I will read over and over again.
I, Amber McCarty (Imaginative Dreams), received a copy from Netgalley for an honest review.
I was asked to read this paperback and to give my opinion I don't normally read "Suspense" genre, but this was very well written with knowledge of the Amish faith, life style and dress. It was very suspenseful multiple times. Both Lucas and Hannah used lack of judgement at times, but their hearts were always in the right place. I liked that their faith was shared throughout the story, but never a sermon or preachy. Best loved character was Fannie! I really enjoyed her! This is a standalone story, but I, the reader, was left with a bit of a cliffy. I could easily read more from this author, suspense or not!
This book is part of a trilogy but you don’t need to read book one to understand this plot (it would be helpful though).
I thought this book would be great, since I enjoy the Love Inspired titles, Amish fiction, and some mystery. But the plot was a bit hard to follow, some scenes didn’t make sense, and the ending felt rushed ( although, most Love Inspired books do). I have my doubts about how much research into the Amish culture the author did, too.
I still have questions after finishing this book, which I assume will be answered in the final book. Although, I am not sure if I want to read it.
3 stars which is a reflection of my personal enjoyment of the book, rather than it’s worth to someone looking for books with a Christian basis.
A difficult book for me to rate because it achieves exactly what it set out to do. It’s a good dramatic plot, with a strong Amish, Christian base to the story.
I was looking for books about Amish life, rather than christian literature. This didn’t really provide that look into Amish lifestyle, it was about the mystery and their faith. I did find the religious aspects a bit overwhelming, but more more importantly, i found the character of Hannah so annoying that I couldn’t read another story about her.
Hannah Miller’s attempt to find her sisters after receiving a message from one of them. She is chased and attacked while trying to find them. After being rescued by Lucas Grant, a former cop living in Amish country, Hannah trust Lucas with her secrets. They have discovered human trafficking going on in this town. Will they find Hannah’s sisters before it’s too late? Will Hannah and Lucas find more than what they are looking for?
Sometimes redemption and second chances come in the most unexpected packages. When Hannah left home she never thought she'd be returning under these circumstances. When Lucas left the police force, he never thought he'd have another chance to catch his partner's killer. Together, they may just be able to catch a killer and find peace in their hearts, minds, and souls.
I got a copy from Netgalley and couldn't wait to read it. The cover is very catchy and makes you fully wonder what the book is about. Hannah and Lucas goto Amish country for two different reasons but in the story you will see that it could be somewhat the same reason. I really enjoyed this story and the authors work that now I want to read more of them.
Oh my goodness - Book# 2 Amish Protectors Series by Debby Giusti is sure to please - Like a little suspense in your Amish tale? You have picked up the right book. I truly enjoy this series, you must read when you have more than a minute or two - you will not be able to put it down once you get started. Thank you Debby for a wonderful series, I cannot wait for book #3.
The main character, liv, is a charming woman who you grow to care about. You do wish her well, and hope no harm comes to the lady. The story is an easy read, but I found I lost the will about half way through the tale. It lacked energy and twists. If you like a cozy mystery, then this story will probably suit you well
This book is different from your normal life in a amish community book. This has mystery. Hannahs family has gone missing and she is the next target in a sex trafficing plot. She meets up with lucas, an ex cop. The reside and work in an Amish settlement. Lucas puts his detective skills to work while saving hannah. A very good book but with a twist from the normal Amish reads.
This inspirational Amish mystery involves sex trafficing, clean romance, faith, family relationships, revenge, and forgiveness. I have not read the first one in the series, but was able to follow this one easily with the details given by the author.
The perfect blend of suspense and romance! I was quickly drawn into the story and didn't want to put it down! I need to go back and read the first book. I highly recommend!
Very good book with suspense and romance set in an Amish community. Plus, it was the second book about the same sisters and two of them getting back together after they were separated.
