Re-'read' via audiobook July 2018 and even if Tristan James will probably never be my favorite narrator, he still made my heart race. Granted, not a surprise with this book... 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now crossing a zone of turbulence. Please take your seat and keep your seat belts fastened. Thank you.

Hmm, as a description for this book 'zone of turbulence' might be a slight understatement. One helluva ride that gives you barely time to catch your breath is more like it.

I knew it would not be easy what the author had in store for not only the reader, but also for Aidan and Jamie in this last installment of the Agents Irish and Whiskey Series. I would not have thought that she has some kind of mean streak when it comes to making everyone suffer, though. ;-)

Barrel Proof not only picks up right where Cask Strength ended, it throws us directly head over heels into action and from that point on it leaves us barely time to breathe.

No worries, I try to be as vague as possible about the plot, just let me say that every breathtaking minute and every heart-wrenching moment was more than worth it in the end.

Of course, this book is not all about the action, though. Jamie's 'secret' is still looming like a shadow above his and Aidan's relationship, but the cat is inadvertently let out of the bag pretty soon. Yes, it had the dreaded impact and I wanted to shake Aidan for his stubbornness on more than one occasion, but on the other hand, his sense of betrayal was completely understandable for me and him just accepting everything without showing signs of hurt would have been beyond belief. Aidan's reaction led to some bittersweet moments that made my heart clench, but I so did love the memories that it stirred up.
He wondered, though, if he could get one more thing. A few more minutes of Aidan in his arms to soothe his aching heart. He stood and held out a hand. "Can I at least have a dance?" Aidan's eyes shot to his, darkening, as Jamie imagined the wave of memory heating those pale cheeks.

Feet shuffling their bodies swayed and Aidan moved deeper into his arms.

Aidan needs some space to come to terms with himself and his feelings and goes undercover on a solo mission that proves to be not quite so innocuous as intended. When it turns out that Aidan's and Jamie's nemesis, Renaud, has a finger in the pie, things quickly go out of hand and when a crosshair is once again painted on Aidan's back, it is Jamie's turn to do everything in his power to stop Renaud once and for all and save Aidan's life.

The technobabble was once again strong with this one. Those who have read my reviews for Single Malt and Cask Strength already know that I'm not a computer person. Every single time our technician at work is trying to explain to me what I did wrong so my computer ended up refusing any cooperation and sees my wide-eyed stare, he probably thinks that he is dealing with someone from the dark age bursting through a time warp into the 21st century... So, nooo, I didn't understand everything Aidan did during his undercover job, but I got the gist of it and it was once again enough for me.

I just loved the relationship development, but also the progress Aidan and Jamie made individually during the whole series despite everything they had to go through. How the author dealt with all the hurt/comfort and made this second chance love believable was top notch and their HEA was more than well-deserved

Aidan captured one of Jamie's hands, tangled their fingers, and brought their woven knuckles to his lips. "Partners, Whiskey, always."

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the end of this journey. On behalf of Reyne Airlines and the entire crew, I'd like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board again in the near future.

I know I would be so on board with that. Secretly I'm hoping - argh shucks, to hell with hoping - I'm begging for a book about the Bureau's best kidnap and rescue agent and a certain prosecutor who both grew on me during this series and of course I hope to see more of Jamie and Aidan as well in the future.

Highly recommended!

This is a solid trilogy that takes all three books to solve the central mystery!

What I liked:
Jaime is a standout character here for me. Reyne has depicted him to perfection. He’s made some mistakes but foremost is his devotion and loyalty to Aidan. Aidan finally realizes that love is worth the risk and potential pain, and despite Jamie not telling him all the truth from the beginning, Aidan realizes around the 50% mark that it’s just not worth it to remain angry and deny himself another chance at happiness. Fucking finally!

What niggled:
Not much this time around. If you like age gap, second chance romance, with separation, and plenty of internal turmoil, then I think as witnessed by the many reviews praising all three books, one will have no problem loving this series. Though I personally find secrets and denying one’s feelings a bit tiresome, the ultimate payoff was a good one.

So I’m impressed with myself for accomplishing this series pretty much in one go. It was entertaining, and it kept me on my toes with the varied cases Aidan and Jamie work on, showcasing their skill and dedication to the job and to each other. Again, this is all set against the backdrop of the bigger story arc of taking down an international terrorist who in his personal quest for revenge, is eliminating those who’ve gotten in his way, including many people who Aidan and Jamie care about. Though not containing my favorite tropes, this was an overall win with the strong love and smex that was hot and explicit, all with a satisfying HEA!

5 Stars!

This one starts off with a bang that leaves our men on rocky ground. Jamie is broken hearted and Aidan is just broken. All Aiden is feeling right now is anger which he is consumed with because of the betrayal he feels by those he considered the closest to him. He's feeling hurt by the lies he was told by the people he trusted more than anyone in the world. To say more would give things away and I don't wanna be THAT person who ruins a book for someone. So, moving on.

I want to express how much I loved the character that is Lauren. She was really funny and had no filter for the things that came out of her mouth. I can relate to that. I'm good on page because there is a delete button, but in real life I piss people off more than I like to admit or make them laugh. It honestly can go either way. But I honestly am not a mean person I just have a hard time not speaking truth. *shrugs shoulders* But back to Lauren. I really liked this character and would totally read a book if she was given one.

There are two men I would love to read about as well and would love if they got coupled up. Dominic and Cam. Can this please happen? Anyone else feeling like something could be there?

Dolls, this book is non-stop action. When you think finally! a break for these men and it might be over BAM! something else happens and we're back in the field where the stakes are high and the adrenaline is pumping. It was such a great read and I loved the twists and how it played out.

The ending was lovely and made me smile the creepy joker smile. Well, that's what I was told anyway. Whatever! But that ending definitely feels like it could be open for another book. Maybe if enough of us stalked (in a nice way if you can stalk in a nice way) and left the author some notes on why this would be awesome of her to do it would happen. WOW! That sounded better in my head and less creepy. I could hit the delete button, but nah. LOL

Although it is bittersweet to say goodbye to these men, I am happy they got their happy.

If you haven't picked this series up I totally recommend you do.

Happy reading dolls! xx

4,5 stars rounded up because I 💚 Jamie

I must start by saying this third book is my favorite in the series. This story got better and better with each book and I am happy I discovered Layla Reyne, because I'm sure she will become a very successful writer.
I was glued to the pages for three books having the same main characters. This doesn't happen a lot. I actually try not to start series with the same MC, but Irish and Whiskey were amazing together. Super hot in bed and great partners on the field.

I really want to keep this review spoiler free because I hate it when I read unwanted details while I peek into other reviews.
I think it's safe to say this book is full of action just like the other two previous books. I sat on the edge of my seat while reading the second part of the book. It was super intense and full of unexpected turns. Amazing plot developing!!! We get many surprises and a lot of suspense. And in the end, Aidan and Jamie got their well deserved HEA!

When I started reading Single Malt, I didn't know it was a debut book and that was a nice surprise. I dived right into Cask Strength and for me this one was even better. I enjoyed the suspense and read it in one standing. The only thing that annoyed me was Aidan pushing Jamie away and playing the "keep it casual" card. Uh, at one point I really thought he didn't deserve Jamie's sweet heart and loyalty. But In Barrel Proof they finally learn to forgive and trust each other. It was great following their roller coaster story and all I can say is that it wasn't an easy ride.

In the end I must add I got to love Mel - the feisty SAC and all the other secondary characters, Danny - Aidan's brother, Nic - the great prosecutor and little Katie. I'd love to stick into their world, maybe with Nic's story. Hope the author will give us his story someday. He was an intriguing character.

I'm looking forward to read more from this author.

Barrel of Proof starts right where Cask Strength left off. Aiden, Jamie and Danny are on their way to Cuba to find Mel. With Jamie keeping a big secret, he is putting his relationship with his partner at risk. Maybe Aiden will forgive him, after all, Jamie was trying to protect Aiden’s heart.

" I love you too, I know your kiss, and I know what goodbye tastes like"~Jamie

Aidan is struggling and completely lost after he finds out the truth about his late husband and partner. Hoping space will help mend his heart, he sets off on a new solo assignment. Of course, trouble follows and both Jamie and Aidan have to fight for each other as well as people that matter most

"I told you I would do whatever it takes. I won't let you lose someone else you love"~Jamie

I really enjoyed this series and I don’t want to say goodbye to Irish and Whiskey!!! You can definitely tell the author did her homework with IT and financial wording. At times I was confused by it all, but I stuck with it.

Loved it!!! I am sure going to miss these guys!!

"I can’t stay away.” Jamie’s heart swelled, pounding his ribs. He framed Aidan’s face with this hands. “You don’t have to.” Aidan opened his eyes on a big, relieved breath. They were bright with the same love and hope coursing through Jamie, filling his heart. “Kiss me, Irish.

Barrel Proof is book three in the Agent's Irish and Whisky series from author Layla Reyne. These books are going to be best enjoyed, reading them in order - and are NOT standalones. Barrel Proof starts right where Cask Strength ended.

Aiden and Jamie's world's have been put to the test, both on the job and off, and the wild ride with hard truths, deceptions, and emotional turmoil has brought these two almost full circle. There were certain points of the story that I wondered if Aiden was going to break. How much could one man take? When would all of the revelations be too much and how would he cope with his new realities? Never fear though, book three does see them finally getting their happy ending...but it's not all cake walk to get there!

“Because as much as I love you, I’m angry as hell. At you, at Mel, at Gabe. I need to get away from everything for a while.”
"Including me?"  Jamie realized he’d voiced the sentiment when Aidan framed his face in both hands. “Because I want to be able to come home to you,” he said. “If I stay, my anger will ruin this.”

Reyne has written an amazing series. On top of the continuing suspense and plot twists, there is this slow-burn romance that captivates you! You will find yourself flipping pages in this story just as fast as you can, because of the need to see Jamie and Aiden safe, happy, and together! It's quite the emotional ride, and one I loved! Every. Word.

He closed the space between them and framed Aidan’s face in his hands. “I’ll be your partner, Irish, always, badge or not.”

Aidan nuzzled one of the big, warm palms. “Partner, always.”...“Damn straight.”

This is the book that brings it all to a head. All is revealed and the fall out is something you won't forget! I fell in love with these characters and was so sad see these books end. I did however find a new amazing author, Layla Reyne has become an autobuy for me!

If you enjoy suspense, angst, romance, witty and fun characters, and hot as hell sexytimes ... this story is a must read!

5 stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Wanted More*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

This wasn't a bad way to end the series for Aiden and Jamie. Though I had actually wanted more for their happy ending. Like I wanted a more ... fuller ending, if you know what I mean? It was cut too short. I don't like that the fourth book will be about Danny and Mel - won't read it-, I wanted more of Aiden and Jamie. That being said, the book was the least enjoyable, but it was still enjoyable in itself. I like it, I liked seeing Jamie and Aiden's love, I liked the action, the plot... but something was clearly missing, more so in this one than the first two. I just can't put my finger one it.. I just wanted more. Maybe I just wanted more angst? Who knows.

Th Characters:
The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series, Book Three.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Jameson ‘Jamie’ ‘Whiskey’ Walker, I think.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Actually I do.
Will I read this again in the future? - Unsure.
Rating - 3 stars.

4.5 Stars!

Overall this was definitely a 5 star series for me. With my only complaint being Aidan's reluctancy to move on and allow himself to be with Jamie.

But together, Aidan and Jamie had great chemistry and they're definitely one of my favorite couples.

The suspense/mystery throughout the three books was entertaining and kept me guessing.

I am really hoping some of the secondary characters will get books as well.

Recommended series! Looks like I've got a new auto-buy author to add to the list!

And I still agree with my original review.
All in all I love this series.

Reread in August 2022
3,5 stars

Imo, the weakest of the three books. Far too many acronyms, too many ILYs, too many platitudes. And I still totally agree with what I said in my original review about the plot. I also noted a few overlooked spelling errors this time, and that’s why I knocked a wee bit off my original rating.
Saying that … I still enjoyed it as a whole!

Original review

The end of Book 2 left us on quite a cliffhanger. With everyone heading after the main baddie and Jamie on the verge of telling Aiden his secret, the beginning of book 3 was bound to be explosive. And it was – ‘literally’.

No, my kindle did not go up in flames *g*, but the action was certainly full on! And it never stopped until the end.
Tbh, at times the plot felt almost a little ‘crammed’.

As for Jamie finally spilling the beans – it went like you would expect. I admit I anticipated a massive fall out and tons of angst, but none of that happened, and I can’t make up my mind whether this was a good thing or not.
On the one hand, I think Aiden’s reaction was sensible and realistic – he does love Jamie – but on the other hand there could have been more angst, easily. This is about Aiden’s weakest spot, after all. But everything was resolved relatively quickly and easily. (Ok, you know me, angst queen and the rest, I did hope for more trouble…)

Although I really enjoyed the conclusion to this very commendable series, I did have some minor issues with it.

.) the plot was going a bit haywire – expect to suspend your belief.

.) the phrase “I can’t lose you/him/her” was heavily overused (mainly by Aiden) and eventually made me uneasy every time it came up. Not that I don’t understand the sentiment, but Aiden IS an FBI agent, trained and used to danger and the possible consequences.

I didn’t quite expect him to fall apart every time one of his loved ones was threatened. To me it felt like overreacting (and yes, I do get why, but still … ).

However,

... the ending is wonderful. I did anticipate some bits about it, and loved it all, apart from one thing that made me grumble a bit.

However, all in all, I was very happy with the final instalment of this very well written, very imaginative and hot series!

I feel better, now. Book 2 left us with quite the cliffie and I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this one, along with time to actually read it! I loved it -- Aidan and Jamie are wonderful together. *happy sigh*

Like the first two books in the series, Barrel Proof is action packed, and no sooner than they get a tiny rest, the excitement starts up again. I like how the story arc wrapped up and our guys finally get their well-earned HEA.

This is the last book in the series I renamed " The Hot Geek and the Hotter Agent". I knew it would be good, but oh my giddy aunts, that was spectacular! It was a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Every question I had was answered, every villain slain, every lover well loved.

Here we get not only Jamie, Aidan, Mel and Danny but two new members - Nic aka Aidan's roadblock and Lauren aka Jamie's mini-me. Together they make up a Suicide Squad because what they manage to achieve is almost impossible and extremely dangerous but they all survive with their parts intact.

This story clearly shows how easy it is to frame, blackmail or eliminate people who've outgrown their usefulness. Irish and Whiskey are racing against the clock to stop a terrorist from completing his agenda and when the truth comes out in the end there is only sadness that one lonely man who was wronged turned into a despicable monster beyond redemption. Through all the tribulations Aidan and Jamie stay true to themselves and their love for each other and when the fight is over and the smoke is cleared the threat is gone, the life as they know it is over and the circle of life begins anew.

It was a very enjoyable and thoroughly satisfying read! I highly recommend it!

I loved this ... Whiskey & Irish what a pair ! This book continued with the same fast pace momentum and had me reading until way too late into the night. I suffered through a range of emotions that had me teary in the first 20%, anxious throughout and very happy near the end. I was worried that the storyline may have lost some interest by this book but I couldn't have been more wrong. This was cleverly written, attention grabbing and thrilling. Have already preordered book 4 ❤️😎 this is a fabulous series !

Irish and Whiskey, welcome to my favorite-couples-shelf! :)

Aidan captured one of Jamie's hands, tangled their fingers, and brought their woven knuckles to his lips. "Partners, Whiskey, always."
Jamie smiled as he repeated the vow back to him. "Partners, Irish, always."

I love these two! The chemistry and dynamic between them is awesome.
Add all the adrenaline-filled moments and this series is a great entertainment which gets a happy 5 stars rating from me!

**4 stars for this last piece of the puzzle and 4 stars for the whole series**

Not a standalone : this book has been cut into 3 pieces and this is the last part, so no spoiler at all.

To remember : Aiden is a seasoned FBI agent and one year ago, he lost his partner as well as his husband in a car accident. Back on the job, he is paired by his boss, actually his sister-in-law, with an unusual “rookie”, Jamie, ex professional player and now an expert in cyber-crimes. They learn working together during several missions, and get intimately closer, even though Aidan tries to keep it casual.
But the murky circumstances around Aidan’s husband come into play, messing around the relationship between Aidan and Jamie, as much as Aidan’s fear of losing his heart again.

It’s full of suspense, although a bit on the suspend-belief side for me, action, romance, very sexy times, with trust, reflexion and faith thrown in the mix.

What made it so good for me : Jamie. I loved this character : he’s smart, caring, sweet, strong, and patient. And the conclusion felt so real and in par with the characters and the setting.

In overall, a very good suspense-romance, with enough to do a spin-off ?!? I wouldn’t mind at all.

**A special note to Dia : I really had a great time, thanks to you !!! **

I think I owe Tristan James a bottle of wine or whiskey.

He is the only reason I continued on with this series after book two...well Tristan and the fact I'd dropped serious coin on the books and audio.

The final story in the Irish and Whiskey triology starts off with Aidan, Jamie, and Danny racing to get to Mel, Aidan's boss and sister-in-law. When circumstances turn Jamie is almost killed and Aidan finds out just how deep all the betrayals in his life go.

Yes, the other shoe has dropped and the cards are on the table. Aidan wraps himself in the betrayal, ignoring how hurt Jamie is (both physically and emotionally), and everything is completely out of whack - not the least of which is their partnership.

Barrel Proof offers up lots of twists and turns, the answers to the ongoing mysteries are finally revealed, and Aidan and Jamie finally get their HFN/HEA.

This was not as frustrating as Cask Strength for me, but I was still shaking my head with all the relationship angst, the multitude of odd decisions, and...just everything. I'm just happy I finally finished.

Tristan James is brilliant as the narrator for this series, with the character voices, his timing, and the way that he keeps all the suspense and romance flowing seemingly effortlessly. He was an absolute joy to listen to - even when the story itself was driving me nuts.

It pays to note I am in the far, far minority with this - as always, your mileage may vary.

He closed the space between them and framed Aidan’s face in his hands. “I’ll be your partner, Irish, always, badge or not.”

Aidan nuzzled one of the big, warm palms. “Partner, always.”
“Damn straight.” Jamie lowered his hands, spreading them out over his shoulders, pressing gently down.”

Barrel Proof is the final installment in the Agents Irish and Whiskey series, and it is a solid end to a wonderful series.

This one picks up almost immediately after the end of the last one, and shit happens basically right away.

Jamie and Aiden are going after Mel with Daniel, Aiden's brother, and when they get to where Mel is, they get the answer to whether or not Mel is a friend or foe.

And finally, FINALLY, Jamie tells Aiden what he's known for months. Be prepared for pain, but don't worry about it lasting for long. I was actually surprised with how fast it was resolved. I mean, it lingers even after it is resolved, but I wasn't expecting Aiden to forgive Jamie until the near the end of the novel, but it happens before that.

Not that there isn't time of them spent apart, but most of it is skipped over because Aiden goes undercover on his own. I kind of like that we skipped over the weeks of them being separated at the same time I wish we had gotten maybe a chapter of that separation because while I love we got the make up quickly, it also made it feel a tad rushed as well.

Also, the fact that by the end of this book its only been a year and a half since Gabe died didn't feel entirely realistic for someone to have found the "second love of their life." Although who knows, I've never been through that myself, so I could be wrong. Still wish it had been longer than 8 months since Aiden had lost Gabe for his and Jamie's romance to have started.

But aside from that, Aiden and Jamie's relationship was as amazing as ever, and I got excited whenever they were in a scene together, and I still ended up loving where they were by the end of the book, even with how fast they came together.

The plot was good too, and there are surprises (where there shouldn't have been. The bad guys that are revealed in this still surprised me even though I had a feeling since the first book.) as well as suspense. And while the climax was good, I also felt it was a tad anti-climatic at the same time. (Weird to say, with what happens to one of the characters, but what happens with Renaud was not what I was expecting, and I think I was expecting an even bigger fight between them than there was, even though what happened with Renaud did make sense at the same time.)

So I have a half a star off rounded down to 4 because this one didn't feel quite as strong as the first two, but it was still solid, it was still enjoyable and fun to read, and I love Aiden and Jamie together so so much, they make my heart melt, and I'm just so happy these two fools got their happy ending together, because they deserve it.

Now, i dunno if its just me, but I kinda felt there was something there between Cam & Nic (Cam being Jamie's best friend and Nic being the guy Aiden kinda "dated" but-not-really for a while) and would love a series about them. Like, it was super subtle, but I still felt some sparks between these two, mmmkay.

So, yeah, definitely worth finishing out the series, and I don't think anyone who has loved this series so far would hate it or be disappointed, but maybe some might not love it as much as the first two, like I did.

Really good ending, just not an amazing ending, I'll say.

Relisten April 2020: Yessssssss!!!

Original binge date October 2017:
Well, this book seriously kicks ass! What a way to end a series! I’m in no shape to write a proper review. If you haven’t read this series, do it. If you haven’t gotten to this last book, well, you’re in for a serious treat since it’s the best one in the bunch. If you’ve done all of the above, why not treat yourself to the audiobook narration by Tristan James so you can hear Aiden’s husky Irish brogue, and Jaimie’s drawling, “Baby,” as he whispers it to Irish.

So, now do we get a series staring Cam and Nick? Those two would rock it!

I spent a good part of last week finally binge reading this series. Hopefully I'll get up a small review for each but I'm giving the series overall 5 Stars!

Oh man, this was a roller coaster of emotions. These two were killing me in this one. Secrets, betrayal, hurt, angst and danger! New and old characters all converge with the team finally getting to the end of the overarching mystery I loved it. What a way to end the series, absolutely loved the way it worked out for Agents Irish and Whiskey.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Nic and Cam might have a future story.

This is a great series and I'm not quite ready to let these guys go. Thanks to the perfect mix of mystery and romance and the very enjoyable narration by Tristan James, I'm sure I will be listening to this series again in the near future. It was fast-paced and there was never a dull moment. I wouldn't have minded more books in the series!

Both Aiden and Jamie have to work through a myriad of emotions while chasing and being chased by criminals. They both have to battle feelings of guilt, duty, loss, fear, regrets, and doubts until they arrive at a very satisfying HEA.

I will definitely keep an eye out for more books by Layla Reyne!

4.5 Stars. What a breathtaking conclusion to this series! If you thought Aiden and Jamie had it rough in the first two books, be ready to double down. Picking up immediately after book two, the action starts in Cuba and as they escape that, Aiden learns what Jamie, and Mel, have been keeping from him. He’s feeling heartbroken, betrayed and angry, but does have a pretty mature response, eventually, and does visit Jamie to discuss why he’s taking a solo undercover op. He wants distance to process his feelings and not let his anger ruin things between them. (I was aggravated with him anyway. Like he wouldn’t have done the same thing!)

Anyhoo, Aiden has no idea what he’s walked into and Jamie has no clue what’s occurring behind his computer screens. It get a little too complex at times, to my mind, but threads from their other cases get woven into the plot. There are a couple of returning characters, like Cam, Jamie’s friend, and Nic, the US attorney Aiden had “dated”, reappears. The action never really stops and the story just rockets along. I yelled a lot of “oh em gee” and “no, no, no”, and also thought there was one event too many. It’s also remarkable just how much physical abuse a man can take and it still never prevents the exercise of their libido. Just sayin’!

You must read the entire series to understand everything going on. Definitely not stand-alone books. They’re absorbing and interesting all the way through the series and I loved Aiden and Jamie as a couple, although Aiden was kind of a jerk at times and Jamie put up with a bit too much. There’s a lovely epilogue and a very satisfying HEA. Now I’d like to see a book or books for poor Nic and for Cam.

I’m going to have the worst book hangover ever from this series. It’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed a book much less an entire series as much as I have this one. I honestly can’t wait to see what Layla Reyne has in store for us book lovers next! I am also seriously hoping my hunch on that is correct.

Anyone who has read my review for Cask Strength will remember me mentioning an endless supply of shoes and them dropping at the craziest moments. Barrel Proof picks up just a few hours after Cask Strength ends. Readers are dropped into an intense moment in a high speed situation and the book never slows or loses any momentum. The stakes are high. Jamie and Aidan have to shut Renuad’s operation down once and for all. Renuad has caused enough problems for Aidan. The havoc he intends to wreck upon the world as a whole is even more troublesome.

Excellent ending wrap up! So many answers to so many questions that have pop up in this series. Irish and Whiskey needed more than the happy for now that they have with Single Malt and Cask Strength. They deserve it. As a reader I found myself wanting then to have everything. Especially Aidan, he’s already lost so much and then to be given a second chance at love with Jamie so many hearts and flowers with the bullets and near death experiences. Perfect ending to an amazing series.

Do not try to read any of the books in Reyne’s Agent’s Irish and Whiskey series as stand-alones. This is one of those series where you need to have comfort food and a box of tissues near as you lock yourself in a room alone for a couple of days. You’re going to want to devour this series in one sitting.

Holy hell. that was SO GOOD! Why is there not more?!?!?!? I need MORE DAMMIT!!!!

Reread 7/29/2018 After listening to all three books back to back, I still enjoyed them quite a bit. I did realize the ONE major annoyance. I’m not a fan of pet names. Baby being the absolute worst IMO. The switch from actual names to “baby” as soon as the relationship starts to happen irks my nerves. It didn’t stop me from loving the books, but it was more “in the face” upon rereading. That’s it. My only complaint. Now on to the spin off!

I was so checked out for this finale. I thought the series was on the up and up even after some of the questionable parts in book two, because I did enjoy it, buuut this just felt.. I don't know. Convenient, convoluted, careless..? I didn't hate it but I felt nothing. And considering all the build-up I just couldn't believe how some things panned out.

Now THAT is how you wrap up a series! I loved how things worked out in this; totally realistic in a made-up kind of way. (That makes sense in my head.) Things ended up the way they should be, the way that makes both of our MCs happy and keeps them together without compromising their integrity or characters. And leaves them both in excellent places to be pulled out for another series or story-line, whether as the starring couple or as side-characters.

From the first minute I felt like it was a manic race to the end; lots of drama, action, plot-twists...plus the resulting emotional roller-coaster that is Irish & Whiskey's romance. After the last one seemed to drag in the middle, I really appreciated that change of pace. It was so frantic, though, that for about a hot half minute there I really did worry we wouldn't get a HEA. And then they had sex. So, yeah, that was a relief. Plus, so hot. So, so hot.

There's an MF novella for Danny/Mel to follow...and I can't believe I'm saying this but I might actually read it. What I'd really like is a book or two for Nick. And maybe even Cam. Those guys seem like good spin-off material. Plus, I feel bad for Nick; he really did care for Aiden and even after losing out to Jamie, Nick still did everything he could - including jeopardizing his job a couple of times - to help the team. That deserves some hot nookie and a man of his own. And I wanna read that!

Now, for the audio: I adore Tristan James; I'd listen to him read the phone book, for real. So long as he didn't do it with a Southern Accent. But, listening to this didn't grate on my last nerve like the previous one did. He either softened the edges and smoothed out the pronunciation or I've just grown used to the sound. His Irish brogue? Panty melting. Not one complaint about that!

4.5 stars rounded up. I Love Jamie

description

“Partner, always.”

I loved Jaime as usual, i know i said that before but he is the best. I still liked Aidan i guess i have not forgiven him all the way.

This book 3 in the Agent Irish and Whiskey Series and it did not disappoint, i enjoyed the action this author can write great engaging action scenes.

The chemistry between Jamie and Aidan made me love this book more. They were compatible in all ways. The sex scenes were hot just the kind i love to read.

They were bright with the same love and hope coursing through Jamie, filling his heart. “Kiss me, Irish.”

Loved it ! and i wouldn't mind reading more of Agent Irish and Whiskey, Nik and Cam too.

If I imagine Barrel Proof as a three-act drama, for me the story picked up starting from the second-act, when Aidan, Jamie, Mel, and the rest of the involved characters raise the stake when dealing with terrorist Pierre Renaud and his plan to create market chaos. I really liked the pace from that point on. It was quite thrilling and the actions were all worth it.

However, it turned out that I still carried grudges from the previous book, in which I was disappointed with Aidan. In the first act, Aidan finally discovers the secret that his lover slash partner Jamie and his boss slash sister-in-law has been keeping from him regarding the truth behind Aidan's ex-husband's death. I'm not going to end up ranting in this review so I'm going to make it short: I thought Aidan was acting immature, hypocritical, and GAH, such a drama king.

I really liked Jamie though -- in fact, I thought he carried the case way more than Aidan. I loved Jamie for his ability, loyalty, and all around bravery. Personally, Jamie deserves more than that drama king Aidan. But well, I guess his heart speaks differently *shrugs*.

Overall, it is a nice series and I think can satisfy most MM readers.
