Kitchener Waterloo: A Guidebook from Memory

Rate this book
Kitchener Waterloo: a guidebook from memory is the culmination of a year-long community art project which invited residents of KW to submit memories connected to places in our Region.

The submitted stories have been plotted onto a map in this 'guidebook'. It can be followed much like a tourist guide - except one where the attractions include:

-the route your neighbour walks her dog each morning
-the park bench where a stranger had his first kiss
-the place where a family of Syrian newcomers started to feel at home

The stories are heartwarming. gut-wrenching, comedic, and beautifully human. Local artist Madeline Samms has gorgeously sketched each memory location.

Part tourist guide; part artbook; part performance; part essay - this map invites you to explore our Region through the eyes of our fellow residents.

Cute community art project.
Worth picking up if you're from the K-W region.
