Noriaki Kubo, known professionally as Tite Kubo ( 久保帯人), is a Japanese manga artist and character designer. His manga series Bleach (2001–2016) had over 130 million copies in circulation as of 2022.
I can tell that you've never been true to me I can smell that you're acting so fearfully I can hear what you're hoping I want to hear I can feel the alarm bells are ringing in me I can touch but I know you don't feel a thing I can pray but I know you commit a sin I can sense now it's all become clear to see You're no good, and you mean no good, treacherously
(Sagisu Shiro, "Treachery")
People are acting like this song belongs only to Aizen, but why didn't anyone consider it an Aizen AND Gin song? It works perfectly for both of them. Because of this reason, I had to use these lyrics in my review.
Anyways, I hope that no one is surprised by my rating for this volume. It was obvious to me that I will give it the biggest amount of stars, not only because I already knew what will happen, but because it's a perfect ending for a perfect saga.
GIN.
"What did you do to her?" "I killed her." "Her spirit energy is certainly gone. I'm surprised. I thought you might show her mercy." "Mercy? I didn't have anything like that. Didn't I tell you the first time we met? I'm a snake. My skin is cold. I have no heart. I slither, looking for prey with the tip of my tongue. I swallow the people I care about whole. That's the kind of creature I am."
I feel like I saw this scene a thousand times already, so it should've been easier to witness it. But despite that I knew that I will bawl my eyes out, and I did. You see, Gin was a villain. Or, perceived as a villain through the whole of BLEACH. He's one of the treacherous captains, a true genius of his generation, a man like a snake that looks like it's always ready to suffocate you to death and swallow you whole. He was the one who sliced Jidanbou's arm off. He was the one who stabbed Hiyori so bad that she was close to standing on the death's door. He was the one standing on Aizen's side for decades, so he seemed like the most loyal servant of all. But then a moment comes that your view drastically changes. It's quite a short moment that could mean nothing, but ends up meaning everything. It's a moment that brings you so much pain, that makes your heart break into thousand pieces and you can't help, but burst into tears. It hurts so bad that it's hard to breathe.
He's supposed to be a villain. He's supposed to mean nothing. But on the end you're crying for him like you're giving a farewell to the greatest hero of all. This is how amazing storytelling of Tite Kubo is.
Rangiku... I couldn't do it. I couldn't... get back what he took from you. Oh, I'm so glad... I got to tell you I was sorry...
ICHIGO VS AIZEN - THE FINAL BATTLE.
"If you're really Ichigo Kurosaki, I'm disappointed. I didn't feel any spirit energy from you. Even if you're restraining your spirit energy, it's inconceivable that I wouldn't feel it. You've failed to evolve."
This battle is both incredibly exciting and hard to watch. I love Ichigo with every fiber of my being, but a confident Ichigo is the one I'm always the most happy to see. He was powerful and he knew it. He was able to win and he knew it. Aizen, who surpassed both Shinigami and Hollows and became a god-like creature, roared and raged and sang about how he's in a state that no one can defeat him anymore. Ichigo on the other hand just stood there, all calm and collected. Like a statue.
"What are you so surprised about? Is it that unbelievable that I caught your attack? Are you scared because something you can't understand is taking place right before your eyes?"
It's honestly a big irony of fate that the kid that's being Aizen so carefully created, the kid that Aizen himself gave an opportunity to become stronger and face him once again, became his undone.
But, to be honest, with all due respect to Ichigo's power and overall him being cool, what struck me when I first watched this battle and what struck me now about it is how the faces of both Ichigo and Urahara looked. These weren't the faces of the winners. What I saw in their eyes was an ocean of sadness. And, despite it being the final battle, there was no celebration on the end.
GOODBYE, RUKIA.
How to break me to the point of no recovery? With this:
I can't sense any spirits.
And with this:
"Goodbye, Rukia. Thank you."
The moment her presence was slowly fading and Ichigo witnessed it? Yeah, kill me now, please 😭
It's the end of the Winter Arc now. Aizen is defeated, there is no danger anymore. Ichigo is no longer a Soul Reaper. Cannot feel any spirits and cannot feel any Hollows. All he is now is just a normal teenager. Just a human being. But is this really the end of his story? I know it's not. The Fullbringer arc is next. For many people it's a boring arc. Something easily skippable and unnecessary, I guess. But for me it was never boring, just painful. I need to go and buy more tissues, guys, I will surely need them! Anyways, see ya in the next volume! ;)
Some very necessary things I need to talk about: (as usual) - be aware of the spoilers, please!
~ When Aizen said that he was surprised that Gin didn't show Matsumoto mercy, his face expression said otherwise - he clearly didn't believe Gin, but went along with the lie. ~ The fact that it took decades, DECADES for Gin to stand up to Aizen - the time that he could use to be with Matsumoto instead - makes me upset 😔 ~ "I lied to you. It doesn't stretch as long as I said. It doesn't stretch as fast as I said. But it does turn into dust for an instant the moment it expands and contracts." - GIN'S BANKAI IS LIKE MATSUMOTO'S SHIKAI, HELPPP 😭 ~ Did you realize how the villain of the story was dressed all in white while the hero was dressed all in black? 🤨 ~ My heart breaks every time I think about how a little amount of time we spend with Gin and how close he was to accomplish his goal and to come back to Matsumoto 😭 ~ ICHIGO IN SHORT HAIR : HOT ICHIGO IN LONG HAIR: HOT ~ At first it was Aizen who had an untraceable amount of spiritual energy (no one could feel it except for Ichigo) while you could drown in Ichigo's spiritual energy. In the contrary to this, Ichigo's Dangai mode had an untraceable amount of spiritual energy (confirmed by Tatsuki), while Aizen's in a god-like mode spiritual energy level was enormous. ~ It was so funny to see Aizen being so confused and shocked by Ichigo's power. He truly did not expect him to come back so strong and he was the one who gave him this opportunity! ~ The scene of Ichigo stopping Aizen's blade with just a bare hand was a very nice reference to a similar scene that happened in the Soul Society arc when it was Aizen who had stopped Ichigo's blade. ~ The creepiness of Aizen's creature of hell mode is taking me out every time. He was bragging about how powerful he became, while all I was thinking about was 'dude, go look into a mirror'. ~ What I wanted to protect... was you, Ichigo." - I remember being confused about Tensa Zangetsu's will to fight Ichigo when I first watched the anime. I couldn't understand why was he so adamant of keeping the secret of the Final Getsugatensho to himself while clearly knowing what was happening outside. But then he spoke those words and I was like, 'boy, same' 😭 ~ How much of negative emotions was Aizen hiding inside himself all this time? His burst of rage on the end certainly wasn't normal, even for someone who knew that was defeated. ~ the little Yammy and the Arrancar dog scene was so sad 😢 ~ ICHIGO'S SMILE 😭 ~ It wouldn't be Ichigo Kurosaki if he didn't try to find an excuse for the villain's behaviour. ~ It was so nice to see Akon again! ☺️ ~ Ichigo's and Rukia's face expressions when they exchanged goodbyes broke me. They mean to much to each other and, instead of always being together, they were forced to be apart. She was the one who changed his world and now she is gone and it's like she was never there 😭
Forever mourning the loss of their true potential 😭😭😭😭😭 WTAF do you mean he was a baddie?! Can you not see the lengths he went for Rangiku in the end? Shattered and devastated. Time to go to a03 to find a better au.
Credits go to the original creator.
I literally did not care about the rest of the team except these two. Aizen totally turned the tables by revealing the hypnosis and his sheikai. SO many fights, I enjoyed staying up late, binging on them. If he bad, then why so hot?
The Arrancar Arc has finally come to an end! Such an emotional and exciting end to a volume and arc. First thing I want to say is that I was shocked and happy when Gin turned on Aizen. This whole time he was fighting for Rangiku and spent all those years waiting for the right moment.
I loved seeing how much Ichigo had grown physically, mentally, and emotionally. He has came a long way and The Final Getsuga Tensho was incredible and we got to see Ichigo get another amazing form but this one came with a catch…losing all his Soul Reaper powers. The story’s not over so what happens next for Ichigo? Let’s just see where the story goes in the next arc titled The Lost Agent Arc.
“Yeah… your eyes are stronger. Good. Now I can die and leave this in your hands.”
First off, WHAT AN AMAZING FUCKIN VOLUME
Second, Gin… 😭 It’s amazing how we’re all led to despise Gin for so many chapters, but a single moment was able to change everything. From his first appearance he was portrayed as this cunning and manipulative guy, but now that his true intentions have been revealed we’re confronted with the fact that this entire time everything he’s done up until this point has been driven by a deeply personal motive; exacting revenge on Aizen for what he did to Rangiku. Gin is another one of those characters that don’t exactly fall into the villain, hero or anti-hero category. He’s done a lot of questionable things, but he’s also deeply loyal and went to extreme lengths in the hopes of getting that revenge. As a character he had so much untapped potential, and it’s bittersweet to see that potential get cut short. Had circumstances been different, he probably would’ve made one of the strongest characters/captains in Bleach.
(Need a ride or die like him fr)
Now moving on to Ichigo v Aizen… “I guess you still haven't realized…that my power is greater than yours. The sword that destroyed that mountain wasn’t yours. It was mine.”
Y’all I kid you not this moment had me cheering and jumping up and down on my seat like a hyper toddler. Up until recently Aizen had Ichigo and the whole town completely violated, but now the tables have turned and Ichigo is the one making Aizen back up. The final getsugatensho form is so badass and I really hope this isn’t the last time we’ll get to see it.
“KISUKE URAHARA!!!! I despise you! With a mind as brilliant as yours, why do you accept the status quo?! Why?!”
I thought it was interesting what Ichigo said about Aizen towards the end, maybe all Aizen did really want was someone who could understand him and see things from his perspective…
~
Overall, another spectacular volume. I feel like I say this with every single Bleach volume, but this one was on a different level. There were a lot of pivotal moments in this one and lots of awesome panels. A great ending to this arc, even though there was a bittersweet tinge to it. Can’t wait to see where Ichigo’s journey takes him next.

Everything about this volume was either funny, heartbreaking or surprising. But Aizen’s defeat was… unconvincing? Like, you’re telling me this dude, who can twist everyone’s sense of reality, just forgot to use his powers for a whole fight in favour of trusting a marble ball, and ended up not only defeated, but also imprisoned?
Maybe he won after all, noped out of there to a tropical island somewhere, and this final battle was just him convincing everyone he got “defeated” so no one bothers him for 20.000 years?
My favorite volume since... well, Ulquiorra died? I think so. Anyway. I think the fight between Ichigo and Aizen was epic. I was disappointed that he became not as cool as he usually is. Oh well. I hope he'll get out somehow. It's more fun if he's around.
I could also sort of understand why he was so obsessed with Ichigo though. He probably hoped that he would become someone who could understand him and all that.
“I’m a snake. My skin is cold. I have no heart. I slither…looking for prey with the tip of my tongue. I swallow the people I care about whole. That’s the kind of creature I am.” 💔 “Rangiku…I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t get back what he took from you. Oh.. I’m so glad I got to tell you I was sorry.” 😭😭😭 Ichigo looks great with really long hair. He literally becomes the sword to defeat Aizen!! Mugestu is such a cool form omg Have fun being imprisoned bitch<3 Ichigo finally has his secrets out “what do you people think a captain’s robe is?” “Fashion?” “Cheap.” “A nuisance.” Sghjkkdh Finally the aizen arc ends! He’s a fun character but his arrogance gets on my nerves Now that the world is saved, I have only one question. Has the karakura gang flunked out of school since they’ve been gone for months and months???
"If you were to turn into a snake tomorrow and start devouring humans, and from the same mouth you devoured humans, you cried out to me I love you would I still be able to say I love you?"
"I've decided I'm going to become a shinigami and change things so that it will end without [nombre spoiler] having to die."
Gin and Aizen battle it out and we finally find out what motivated Gin- Matsumoto. When Gin was killed and Matsumoto began crying over him, I wanted to bawl my eyes out.
Then enter Ichigo, who not only mastered the final Getsuga, but has actually become Getsuga itself. However, to use this, one relinquishes his Soul Reaper powers and loses his spiritual energy. His attack severely injurs Aizen, but as he is regenerating, Urahara arrives and turns the Hogyoku against Aizen.
We then see all of our Soul Reapers captains recovering and find out that Hinamori might recover. Tôshirô is training harder to be able to protect her (many captains are). The only casualty- Gin.
Since Aizen is immortal, he is bound and thrown into prison on 20,000 years.
The last scene in this is Rukia saying goodbye to Ichigo. Because he lost his powers are disappearing, he can no longer see her.
This is an amazing way to end this arc because I'm dying for more.

The Arrancar story arc comes to an end with this volume and it is a silent explosion that delivers on all front. There was something odd in Aizen's demeanour but it can be easily justified by his overwhelming confidence and the high he's on now that he's attained the level of godhood that he always searched for.
Ichigo also goes through a rough and important transformation as he looks into unlocking the final phase of his own powers. It's beautiful to the say the least and also impressive to see him put to good use all of his powers.
You can tell that this whole arc really allowed his character to mature and grow into someone who now knows what is important to him.
The bittersweet ending does make you wonder where this franchise will go next. Hopefully, it won't suffer from a lack of originality.
What an arc conclusion. Love to see it. Great battle... seems like Ichego might not have needed to lose his powers but still it was cool. I'm sure he'll get them back. Summary: Gin uses his bankai and stabs Aizen through the chest. He then reveals the true power of his bankai is that when his sword expands and contracts it turns to dust and if he leaves the dust inside someone it will kill them. He left a shard in Aizens heart. It didn't work, Aizen returns and knocks out Gin. Gin didnt kill Rangiku and she goes to his side. Flashbacks reveal that Gin was actually a good buy just trying to get revenge for Rangiku. Ichego arrives and starts to fight Aizen. Ichego reveals his final form and transforms into Getsuga. He attacks Aizen and then Ichego loses his powers entirely. Urahara shows up and reveals that he put a spell on Aizen and Aizen begins to lose his super powers. Unohana heals everyone. Aizen was contained. Ichego loses his remaining power and Rukia fades away
Bleach 48 marks the end of the Mask Arc. It starts with the final battle scene with Aizen and revelations about Ichigo's zanpakutou powers are revealed.
On an aesthetic note, the illustrations are quite stunning. There are portions, such as Ichigo's transformation, that makes you look twice at the page.
The volume's title is also revealing about certain parallels between Aizen and Ichigo's fate. Aizen and Ichigo both transcend to god-like stages and achieve a certain way of death because of it. Dying doesn't necessarily mean being erased, God is Dead gives new meaning to the word dying.
The volume ends by summarizing the whereabouts and proceedings after the great battle.
Emotions: Awe, empathy, sadness, haste

1. was really hoping aizen and ichimaru were just villain besties but its whatever 2. i feel bad for ichimaru I will have to swing on my mans aizen this one time.
Why has completing this volume made me extremely depressed? Why do I really really want to cry? I don't know the answers to these questions, but I know that this is probably how I'm going to feel once I finish this series, (or at least what is already out now). Completing a really long series is really horrible, because you get so attached to the characters and in a way you want it to go on forever like Naruto, (but not like Naruto because they have some pretty crappy arcs). So many plot twists!! So much deception!! Gin turns his blade on Aizen, putting a sliver of his sword into Aizen's body and stealing the Hogyoku, but Aizen says that the Hogyoku belongs to him and him only, and delivers a fatal blow to Aizen. We see that Gin really didn't kill Matsumoto but knocked her out with Haku Fuku. She rushes to Gin's dying body, and we discover that Gin's motive was Rangiku, which is sweet but doesn't necessarily explain why he needed to team up with Aizen. Either way, Gin passes on and Matsumoto is bawling her eyes out, which made me really depressed. I kind of liked Gin, and I wanted to find out more about him. :/ There were some flashbacks I didn't really understand, and others that did make sense. And then... YESH! ICHIGO APPEARS LOOKING MORE BAD APPLE THAN EVAH!! (Ha he's a bad apple). I looked at him, and did a double take, then almost said aloud: "Ichigo, what the heck is wrong with your hair?" It's so friggin long!! And he looks so depressed... Keigo and Tatsuke looked almost scared when Ichigo first appeared, as if he's not really Ichigo their friend but another scary enemy. So much for faith in friends. Tatsuke doesn't feel any Spirit energy from Ichigo, and Aizen seems confused as if he truly is Ichigo or not. Gin sees how much stronger Ichigo has gotten, and decides he can die and leave things in his hands; which he does. Ichigo takes Aizen far away, they fight and the Hogyoku realizes Aizen is close to losing, so it gives him a new ability which looks like a Hollow. Ichigo then transforms into Getsuga itself to use the final Getsuga Tensho, which he obtained by willingly taking the blade from Tensa Zangetsu, (or whatever you want to call him). This part made me freeze and start flipping out. This is a reenactment of my reaction: *Looks at panel with Ichigo as Getusga* Me: "..." "..." "..." "WHAT THE FRICK HE KEEPS GETTING LONGER AND LONGER HAIR!!! AND SAGGIER FLATTER HAIR!! AND IT'S NOT EVEN ORANGE ANYMORE!! Ichigo..... What have you done to your beautiful hair......

- Personajes, oh dios, cuantos personajes.
Bleach, Vol. 48 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (414–423) of the on-going manga series.
Revealing that he feign loyalty to Sōsuke Aizen, having vowed to kill him for nearly killing Rangiku Matsumoto ages ago, Gin Ichimaru reveals that he misled Aizen on what how his Bankai works and leaves him for dead while taking the Hōgyoku. However, still bounded to the Hōgyoku, Aizen evolves into a new form as he easily cuts Gin down.
Seeing Ichigo Kurosaki a different person now, Gin dies in peace while content with what he had done. Although Ichigo easily overpowers Aizen as they take their fight outside Karakura. Aizen, having discarded his spirit pressure for physical strength, he evolves into a hollow-like creature.
Although Aizen renders Ichigo's left arm useless, Ichigo uses the last resort technique that he learned from Tensa Zangetsu: The Final Getsuga Tenshō. Ichigo uses the attack with the knowledge that its use will cost him his Soul Reaper powers as he defeats Aizen. Though Aizen survived and was about to kill the weakened Ichigo, he finds himself reverted to his human form by the Hōgyoku, which no longer acknowledging him worthy, while engulfed in a specially made kidō "Seal" that Urahara planted on him.
Ten days later, after Aizen has been sentenced to Muken for 20 millennia, Ichigo gradually begins to lose his Soul Reaper powers. Before being unable to see Rukia Kuchiki, Ichigo says his goodbyes to her.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The final battle between Ichigo Kurosaki and Sōsuke Aizen was wonderfully done with victory being a pyrrhic one as Ichigo Kurosaki loses his Soul Reaper powers and his ability to see the supernatural. The tankōbon closes with a tearful farewell between Rukia Kuchiki and himself. Realistically, I know this isn’t the end for Ichigo Kurosaki and his Soul Reaper duties as over two dozen tankōbon worth of story left. So, I am interested in how the storyline would continue.
All in all, Bleach, Vol. 48 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
(Massive spoilers) This was a great volume and like when all seems down and Aizen gets his final monstrous demon form, and all hope is lost, comes Ichigo in his new form with final long hair and the way he carries Aizen off into that place and battles with him repelling his attacks and all, its a sight to behold. WE FINALLY LEARN like what training he underwent and when we see him getting pierced and what Final Tenga Zangetsu is and that moment between him and his zangetsu-hollow was so emotional when it says "All I wanted was to protect you" and then in present he unites with it and becomes Zangetsu-Ichigo form and its the coolest thing ever! And then that void happens and when he defeats AIZEN just wow its a sight to behold, Ichigo in that form. And then he fades away/sealed by Urahara and punished by Council 46 for his actions. The results of Ichigo's actions is that he loses his powers for it and that goodbye between him and Rukia was an emotional one too. Having lost his ability to perceive spirits he is at a loss.
This volume was so good and has seminal moments but the problem is that it felt rushed, the battle between them could have been longer and like more built as for 423 chs we have been hinting towards this but nonetheless good moments for Ichigo and Aizen and the fallout will be massive and interesting!

I would've liked a longer fight between Ichigo and Aizen to see the extent of their new transformations but instead the clash between them feel rushed. It is still worth the read though.
As Aizen calmly and slowly take out the people of Karakura town, Itchigo is training in a verse with no sense of time(2000h = 1h). Afterwards, Itchigo confronts Aizen, but can he really stop him with this new powers? And what is the cost for this power?
!!spoilers!! Alright this was epic. As I suspected Gin was actually a good guy, and all he cared for is Matsumoto (I like his conclusion). Also, that Itchigo's final form looks cool, sadly we probably won't see it again. As for Aizen he was kinda disappointing, he wasn't that great of a viilain imo (but I still have a feeling that things are not over with him since he's still alive).
The death of Gin actually made me sad to see him go. I also like the ending of Aizen, and what Ichigo says about the wish that Aizen had.
Knowing that the volume ends with Ichigo not being able to see Rukia or spirits ever again, at least for now, lol, did make me tear up and feel for him.

I liked it very much! It is a good conclusion to the long arrancar arc, a circle that closes from volume 1 after 48 volumes. I loved that it wasn’t only battle, I love that we saw Gin’s motives, I love that it made me cry in 3 different parts. I’m excited to see what is next and I totally don’t know what to expect!
It strikes me that Kubo could have easily ended the series here, if he had wanted to. Of course, being a Weekly Shonen Jump title that makes obscene amounts of money means the show must go on. But God am I ever so glad this story arc is over.
such a long time passed since I stopped keeping track of Bleach and I had been told it'd gotten worse and worse but yesterday I could not resist! I used to write fanfictios about those characters and I still got all the soundtracks on my iPod D: NOSTALGIA D:
The one where Aizen turns himself into a butterfly and is beaten in an honestly kind of anti-climatic way but you're willing to accept it because it means you survived the arrancar arc.
