When she learns that Wilbur is going to be slaughtered by the farmer, she begins to write several messages in praise of Wilbur in her web so that she can persuade the farmer not to kill Wilbur. The novel, considered to be a classic in children's literature, is written in dry and low-key manner, without any affectation and exaggeration. Both children and elders find the story very interesting.
