Every Day Magic, A Pagan Book of Days, is a gem of a little book. On every page are treasures, ideas, recipes, meditations, spells and so much more. Whatever pantheon you follow, or even if you don’t follow one at all, you’ll enjoy exploring thoughts from other lands and belief systems.

I read this book from cover to cover first but it’s an ideal book to dip into at Sabbats and Esbats or just because you feel like it.

A perfect book to bring a little magic into every day.

Every Day Magic - A Pagan Book of Days 366 Magical Ways to Observe the Cycle of the Year by Lucya Starza
What a lovely addition to any book shelf!
This book would be just as at home on the well stocked shelves of a life long magickal practitioner, as it would be if it were lent up against scented oils and salts in the bathroom of any beginner on their spiritual path.
Promising something for everyday of the year, it does not disappoint! A delightful mixture of information, spells, charms, mantras, and poems await the reader, penned by over 40 different authors and all organised according to the days of the year.
This is a book to be kept close at hand and peeked at every day.
A sure-fire hit and the perfect gift too!

Yay! A review! Finally, and a 5 Triquetra one at that!

Today I am bringing you Every Day Magic published by Moon Books.

To the cover! This cover is beautiful and perfectly describes my type of Paganism and magic. It is a collection of natural little objects in a circle, which is just my style of things to gather for a good ritual or spell!

Now, I'll admit that I haven't tried EVERY daily prompt - I didn't want to wait a whole year to write this review ;) However, from the prompts that I have tried I can comfortably say that this is going to be a book I refer to over and over.

I adore the community feel (the reason why measurements and spelling varies so much) from having many different contributors and I love having everyone's different perspectives.

This book offers a wide variety of ideas based on many different paths that many folks wouldn't normally see. As the description of the books states there are journaling prompts, poems, recipes and crafts along with rituals. Let me tell you they put a LOT into 152 pages.

I adore how each daily prompt is something easy to do. I'll admit that the poetry and journaling/questions were easiest for me since (like everyone) things get a little busy over here especially around the holidays.

So, if you're looking for a book that will help you do a little something every day for your spirituality that has a deliciously magical feel to it this is the one for you! I mean, the opening prompt just makes you feel like a witch!

1. New Year’s Resolutions:

Resolve to enrich your spirit each and every day in many and varied ways. Aim to watch the way the seasons change; meditate a little; whisper prayers; light candles

for peace, hope, joy, love and good health; dance and sing; learn about the Gods and Goddesses of the ancient world and celebrate the forces of nature, the Earth, the Sun, the Moon and the stars. Breathe in love and breathe out love. Be open to inspiration
Be blessed.

It seems like this is advice that we can use not only during the first of the year, but all year round. Let's all take a moment to be blessed. I wanted to take a quick moment to state that I was given a free ARC of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Nimue!

I JUST HAVE TO SAY
If you're more limited in your practice, this book is not for you.

MY RATING ★★☆☆☆

RATING EXPLAINED
2- Eh.... Not to be rude but I'm not sure why I wasted my time finishing this book. I found it lacking in many areas.

REVIEW
I was honestly really disappointed in this book. It is advertised as "366 spells, rituals, meditations, Pagan prayers, divinatory techniques, poems to read and recipes and craft projects to try out" and this advertainment is technically correct but "Pagan" is far too vague and therefore open to too many interpretations. This book spans multiple pantheons and talks about holidays in multiple countries which makes it very interesting but it's topics were too diverse for me to find any practical use for it. If you're more limited in your practice, this book is not for you.

Even still, I was expecting to only like or find interest in about a fourth of the work. I figured 90 of the 366 entries of interest is still a great resource and would be a fair place to set my standard but the book unfortunately managed to fall another 2/3's below those expectations. Of the 366 entries, I found 38 of them interesting and a whopping 3 useful spells. That's 10% interesting material and less than 1% (0.82%) useful information.

On top of that, I found this book wasteful on multiple accounts from food waste and spells promoting littering to wasted space in the book itself for days that gave poems that didn't add any substance to the material. I was really hoping for something different than what I got and since it is a pagan book of days, and most pagans are nature based, I was honestly upset to read some entries to write spells on paper and then drop that paper in a stream, lake, or scatter it's pieces to the wind. I do not like spells that are not environmentally friendly and more than one suggested such litter. You can of course modify this on your own but was not happy that alternative suggestions to were not mentioned in the book for novice casters on each spell as I do recall one spell that used leaves instead of paper.
