Butterfly Bones: Visions Are the Voice of the Soul

Rate this book
As a child, if you dreamed you would die at thirty-two, you'd probably shrug it off.
Thirty-two is extremely old when you're eight.

For Amanda Wilde, the premonition dream of her death has always played in the back of her mind, she tries to tell herself it's nothing more than a bad dream of a damaged child... until on a routine morning run, the scent of honeysuckle blooming in the neighbor's yard hits like a time stamp on the the premonition can no longer be ignored.

She's built a satisfying life; married, a solid career as an investment adviser, owns a comfortable home with a backyard just big enough to throw a Frisbee. On the surface she's fine, she's living the life she has always wanted.

With a single-minded focus on the nine-to-five, she's managed to avoid the darkest shadows where the demons of a traumatic childhood lurk, where nightmares and premonitions of brutal and unstoppable events hide.

Amanda turned thirty-two on Christmas.

Within a matter of days, everything turns upside down and a tsunami of tragic events cause the thin walls between reality and imagination to blur with sadistic twists. Amanda heads down a dangerous path, her mind dangling from a damaged thread, pulled between the dual reality of the day-world in the life she's built, and the toothy forcing her to reevaluate everything as she fights to survive.

Drawing us in with vivid prose, Redman delivers a moving and thought-provoking account of a woman forced to take a deeper look at her life's questioning deeply held beliefs as she moves from denial and tragedy to fighting for survival.

The narrative plunges backward in time to reconnect with her haunted younger-self and dreams she left behind in the battle to survive.

A coming-of-age, in reverse.

A captivating novel prompting flashes of self-discovery and enlightenment around the myths we create by combining a bit of magic from dreams and omens, mysticism around an amulet, and the wisdom of listening to the inner voice, it invites us to look beyond the surface and dive into our own subconscious.

Rich with emotion and driven by suspense, Butterfly Bones reminds us that life is sometimes forged by events that threaten to destroy us.

*** Contains profanity.

*** Cliffhanger.   Book 2 will release soon. The first chapter preview is included.

Savanna Redman's "Butterfly Bones" left me in awe. If taken at face value, the storyline may not seem relatable to the average person, but this isn't necessarily a novel for the "average" person. Go deeper, and you may find some truths. Ms. Redman's unique and captivating writing style is peppered with metaphors and charged with symbolism. How many of us have felt stuck or trapped, and can't seem to make a change, for whatever complex reason(s)? Amanda, the main character, feels trapped in a life which is quickly unraveling. To make matters worse, she is having disturbing, premonition dreams. "Butterfly Bones" is a page-turner, a pleasurable read - one that's hard to put down - but it's not light. This is not a novel in which all the problems are solved at the end, wrapped in a neat little package and tied with a bow. No sitcom episode here! I loved this book. It made me reflect on my own life choices, and it left me wanting to know what is next for Amanda. I intend to read "The Dream Journal of Amanda J. Wilde" and I eagerly await Ms. Redman's next novel in this serial, "The Scent of Blue".

Needs an editor, but the story kept me engrossed. I need the next one! I have to say, I had a hard time not being mad at my husband for the first half, and he is a sweet pea!! Love the characters. I laughed, and cried! I never do that! Interesting story.

I found reading this book was very frustrating and annoying because of the poor proof-reading and editing. There were many grammar and spelling errors.
I was very disappointed when I got to the end of the book to discover that it is a cliff-hanger and I couldn't find a copy, either ebook or hard copy anywhere.
