Just as good as the first book !

I loved how Ren and Anik's friendship evolved. Clearly in this book, they have each other's back no matter what, they keep saving each other and doing stupid things because “I care about you.”
I really appreciated Ren's character development : he was basically full of himself in the first book, had prejudices against Lowlanders ... but in this book he finally sees that being different doesn't mean you're a bad person.
Anik made me want to scream half the time, not because he's an awful character, but because he kept putting himself in danger to save Ren, and NO DON'T DO THAT.

There was a lot more action in this book than in the previous one, that's for sure. There never was a moment I waited for something to happen, it was just action after action and that's nice when you read a book and you aren't bored ^^
I kinda guessed the plot twist tbh, like I don't know why but it was pretty obvious from the very beginning of the first book, but it was still well executed. And it broke my heart. It broke my heart because it made everything goes to shit and JEEZ WHY?

I still recommend this trilogy, it's not expensive at all and the characters are really well written, so go go go !

This was a very enjoyable follow-up to the first book in the series. The first book reminded me a lot of Captive Prince (a series I really liked) and I'm happy to report that Endurance did not give me those vibes and veered off in another direction. It's nice to see this book have its own unique story.
This volume explored the ever-growing friendship between Ren and Anik and now I'm very eager to see what will happen between the two.
After the shocking revelations at the end of the book I'm very looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

My heart hurts😭 Just when these two idiots who clearly care a lot for each other were about to confess all the feelings.

That. Had. To. Happen!!!

The sad part is I knew it. From book one I knew it.

Much better than book one. A little darker, a lot happened that I didn’t see coming but still an enjoyable read.

**grm** (some spoiler)

This second book made me lower my rating for one precise reason. Here we saw Ren sleep with a lord and his wife, and I really didn't like that scene. Until the last second I hoped someone would stop them, like it had happened with the attempted rape a few chapters before, but this time I wasn't so lucky. The thing that annoyed me was not the fact that Ren was fu**d by the Lord, while he was busy with the wife, not even the heterosexual element was the issue, but the fact that Ren and Anik had already met, feelings were starting to grow(and we know this also bcs Ren had to think about Anik to get hard), also if nothing had happened btw them yet, and I could feel Anik's pain when Ren explained to him what he had to do to try and secure them an army. Ren was used in doing things like this, to make deals using his body, but Anik felt really different about all this ordeal. I'm never a fan of seeing one of the MCs with someone else, but usually when this happens and the other MC still didn't make his appearance on page, I really don't care. Until this moment, I was actually thinking of buying also the paper copy of the trilogy, a thing that now I will sadly not do.

3 stars.

I really enjoy where this series is heading, we get some great character development, we learn more about the mysterious fox person, meet new characters and are reunited with old ones.

I like that this series is mainly focused on the actual storyline, and any potential romance is very much on the dl.

There are a lot of great reveals in this second book, so I'm interested to see where they take us in the finale!

I enjoyed this a lot, I like almost all characters, it's well written and entertaining and there were a lot of awesome plot twists.
The only bad thing I have to say is that there also seem to be quite a few plot holes - or at least things aren't always explained that well, so I am confused by some character's motivations, their pasts, how things fit together as well as how much time passes between things happening.

Overall still very good and enjoyable!

I'm afraid the dream will burst if it's spoken too loudly.

I was here to have a good time and I feel so attacked right now.

Listen up hoes, read this. This is such a strong second installment. The characters (especially Ren) go through so much and grow so much. Anik is basically my new favourite but he was always liked by me anyway. The plot was great. Honestly, idk what else to say but that this attacked me in the last few pages and I am happy to have the last book to dive right into it because I honestly feel so so attacked by that fucking cliffhanger.

READ IT. READ IT. READ IT. READ IT.

So yesterday I left Akata Witch, the book I am currently reading at home and this all trilogy - courtesy of Line who pointed out it was free on amazon - was on my kindle.
I started reading on the commute to work and I was hooked. I am in fact half way through book three type of hooked.
I have decided to come back and rate the trilogy when I finish book 3, in the meantime though: this is a highly entertaining series, an easy (as in a well written, easily flowing) read with interesting characters and relentless action. Thoroughly enjoying it!

And here I am as promised: the whole series is a solid 4.5 stars for me and it goes on my favourite shelf.
All in all I enjoyed this to no end and highly recommend it

This suffered from the same problems as the first one did.
The writing especially, hindered my enjoyment. The emotional scenes were not impactful, the action scenes lacked suspense and despite the high stakes, the plot felt meandering. Despite the author telling me so, I did not think my characters were in any great danger.

I do like to see the easy company Ren and Anik now keep.

This was slower to get through than the first one, but it also had more of a plot that made it less of a typical fantasy of its kind. The slow burn is the best thing about this series, and the ending of this one has me starting the last book right away. It’s a good, well-written fantasy world so far.

When I first read the first book of the Iron Breakers series, I was very torn about how I felt about it. A lot of my opinions back then were very biased and judgemental and I admit a lot of the things I said about the first book back then aren’t the same things I feel now. Even more so now that I’ve read the second book.

This new edition to the series was fantastic. It was as if the author took everything from the first and made it 10x better. As I said, I had some - slightly petty - issues with the first book in terms of pacing and characters and such, but I had no such for this one. The pacing was so much smoother and easier to read.

And the characters. I am so impressed with the progress of these characters - with Ren especially, who has grown a lot since the first book. I struggled with him as a protagonist at first, but this book really does show his true morale. He’s wonderfully selfless and his development is fantastic. He’s slowly becoming a favourite. And Anik is a lot more fleshed out from what he had been in the first instalment. He doesn’t just feel like a moody character with issues, but a character with a good amount of depth. I do think we could go into him just a little bit more, but maybe that's just because I like Anik and want to see more of him… (What can I say, I enjoy them both!)

(And christ - this slow burn… it’ll be the death of me… Take pity on me please…)

And not just the main characters, the side characters no longer feel like, well, side characters - they feel important, part of the story, and I can actually remember them a lot more clearly this time around. It feels easier to connect with them, rather than just having them in the background.

I did wonder why I couldn’t quite rate this book a full five stars - because honestly, I couldn’t quite think of a reason first time around, I just knew I couldn’t give it a full score - but I think my main issue was honestly just how certain events were handled. There are certain things that can be a bit uncomfortable to read and there were two instances especially that I think could have been handled with a less brash tone…

But aside from that, I really did enjoy this book. I’ve said before how much of an inspiration I find the author, how hard she’s worked to get this book out there, and I admire them a lot for it. I can’t wait for the third book and really look forward to reading it!

(And please - PLEASE - let them have a happy ending… I’m begging you… Let them be happy!)

((Also, how gorgeous are these covers? I've just heard these are going to be published paperback? And I can't wait to hold these beautiful books in my hands!))

Endurance is the second book in the Iron Breakers trilogy and it is a wild and thrilling ride throughout. The plot is fast paced and takes you on a real adventure with the characters. The empathetic writing makes you really feel the character's worries and happiness and it makes you root for them and sometimes cry for them too.

The story itself is thrilling with many twists and turns that makes the book hard to put down. The characters are also charming and I honestly couldn't say who I liked best as there are so many likeable characters. Not to say that the characters don't have their flaws - they do. It's what makes them realistic, believable and that much more entertaining.

The end of this book sets up the third book wonderfully. I can't wait to read it and find out how everything will end.

A very enjoyable read!

Another cliffhanger?? And that plot twist was almost the death of me; first half of the book was a bit slow, but after that it immediately sped up and I was not able to put it down for second! Short review, but I honestly can’t wait long enough to start the third installment to form conclusive thoughts.

I liked this one a little less than the first one, but that might just be a middle book thing. That being said it was still very entertaining. I loved the relationships and the characters. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

Uf!

Ciertamente espero leer muchos más libros suyos, y ¡AMO SU ARTE, ES BELLÍSIMO, VAYAN A VERLO EN TUMBLR, EN SU PÁGINA O SIGANLA EN TWITTER!. Ella se merece todo nuestro amor incondicional, porque es una autora tan dedicada y su arte es tan preciosamente bello.

3.5; this book was definitely better than the first one. we saw some good character development and overall a slightly better plot progress. it still lacked in the quality of writing, but i feel like the author is definitely growing there.

ren has a good development, he feels less shallow and more of a proper mc now. it's still a bit difficult to connect to most of the characters, but i feel myself slowly starting to care about ren, thais and ilias. i'm not sure about anik yet, i don't know why. he's a good person and he's very loyal, but i his past opens up a lot of questions that i hope to get answered in book 3.
i am unsure if i can really imagine what the lowlands are yet and where they stand (how do you make two whole kingdoms hate them so damn much when in reality they're nothing like that; they're such distinctive community yet they're so defeated and repressed - is there a reason for that?) the world building def needs more work.

i like how they slowly grew to care for each other.

the modern wording in dialogues, especially when it comes to profanities, is still highly unnerving. that small detail kept throwing me off. at one point ren said "heck" or when he said "oh, for fuck's sake, do it, man." i'm... no.

OH MY GOD
Well, I just finished this part and,,, I am shaken up, to say the least. This series took A TURN. But, to be fair, I saw many of the plot twists coming, just not all of them.
I liked this part WAY MORE than the first one, mostly because Ren is not a spoiled brat anymore. Instead, he is fighting the systemized oppression (at least, trying to) and just, he's learning, guys, ok? Let me have this moment (a long one, to be fair) of sympathy towards him. I am rooting for him, I truly am.
Anik. Oh, Anik. I can't say much without spoiling everything, but as it stands, he still remains my favourite character. I love this trope of a strong giant with a soft, warm heart. The way he cares about animals... I am crying.
As for the plot, as I said, I saw most of the twists coming, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed them less. But, thankfully, I didn't see the biggest twist coming. I honestly missed being this shaken up by a series, I care about these characters and just want them to be happy, okay!!!!
This book wasn't 4 stars at the beginning, but upon finishing it, I'd be damned if I gave it a lower rating.

Yep, definitely better than the first book. Everything was much more fleshed out, and I appreciated the pacing of the plot. There were more details, although at times some things flew by too quickly and I couldn't understand because the explanations were still mediocre. There were two major plot twists, but the one about Ren was like whoa wait. It definitely makes me curious about the finale. Also, this time I actually felt the horrors the characters did, and I just wanted to wrap them in an embrace and shield them from the world.

Ren grew a lot in this book, but the changes felt quite abrupt. It was still appreciated however, because he was now less of a prick and you can clearly see Anik slowly falling as readers do too. This made his reaction at the end of the book to a certain revelations seem more real, but I felt that it was also quite out-of-character; that's probably just me.

Anyway, forgive my shitty review, as I don't really go too in depth with my ebooks unless I really liked them :)

I'm gonna gives this 5 stars as well because I've been loving these characters to bits and it's extremely exciting!!

I'm dying to find out how it ends - this installment left me hanging with a serious cliffy 😔

I HATE that this is a trilogy and not one big novel :(
I HATE WAITING for the final installment :(
I LOVE a prince on the run :)
I LOVE Ren and Anik's chemistry but HATE to wait for anything to spark between them for ages - literally nothing happens (romance wise) in the previous installment 😔 and just when things are starting to get exciting (romance wise) they're torn apart.

BUT it's been one of those rare book I thoroughly enjoyed regardless - super fun and interesting.

Though I find the combination of slang (words like wanna and fuck) and historical like setting a bit...weird.

Okay there were two things that annoyed me about this:

I feel like this whole series could do with some fleshing out and a grammar/consistency check, but I still enjoyed it! I also really loved that twist at the very end, which is great because other things were beginning to annoy me. Like, everyone's motives are very black/white, which often didn't sit with their backstories? This comes back to fleshing it out more. I would've loved to have seen a little more grey areas in the characters.

Strong follow-up to Stag's Run . I'm genuinely excited for the wrap-up of this amazing series. There's so much potential for a great ending and the build up to this point has been spectacular.
Looking forward, I hope that Feli is able to handle the whole Anik-leaving-thing with some semblance of grace. Should all Lowanders be labeled as stubborn creatures who prioritize old promises over new information some stereotypes earlier disproven would loss their potency. A gentle, easy, and thoughtful solution is needed to get Ren and friends out of this mess.
Anyway, despite my skepticism at the likelihood of a successful conclusion I look forward to reading the final book of the awesome Iron Breakers series.

Damn, I don't know what to say.
I like it, it's good, I'm very drawn into the story, I think the plot is unfolding in a smart and interesting way. In some ways it is better than the first, there's more action and excitement. The character development is working amazingly. The relationship is finally turning romantic, just at the right pace.
But I'm at that point where I don't really want to talk until I finish it and know everything, so that's it for now.

P.S.: The 5 star rating is provisional and depends on some EPIC sex scenes taking place in the third book to take away the sour taste a certain event left in my mouth. Otherwise I'll have to revise it.

EDIT: Well, clearly I had to revise it, but not much.
