The smell of burnt cake is not a good omen for Annie when she arrives at the Black Cat Cafe. But little does she know that her Aunt Leona’s cooking disaster is only the first of many problems she’ll be served in a big basket of cracked Easter eggs.
Annie quickly learns that being in charge at the Black Cat Café isn’t all chocolate-covered strawberries and carrot cakes. In addition to the variety of tasty pastries she needs to make for Easter, she stumbles on a body and what appears to be a robbery.
With money disappearing from bank accounts, snooping seniors appearing out of the blue, and clues turning up in the most unlikely places, Annie’s problems sizzle more than Leona’s hot cross buns.
Determined to help her new friends, Annie and her therapy dog land in the middle of a murder investigation. Clues pile higher than a basket of Easter eggs, all pointing to one of the seniors. Annie searches for something to keep her friend from landing in a jail cell but instead, Annie ends up right in the killer’s crosshairs.
***Easter Buried Eggs is volume 10 in the Black Cat Cafe Cozy Mystery Series. Lyndsey’s books can be read and enjoyed in any order.
Another great cozy mystery from the Black Cat Cafe! I love this series! Leona has a meltdown after working so much and leaves Annie in charge with no warning. Annie has a party to cater and special Easter treats to prepare for the week. Her hands are full but when the Easter Bunny is killed during her catering dinner, she finds herself involved in trying to solve yet another murder. Great quirky characters from the nursing home kept me entertained and exhausted trying to keep up with them. A great plot especially poignant for those who have worked in nursing homes and seen too much. My mouth watered through the entire story as I read about the food being prepared. A good story, great food, quirky characters and lots of mysteries to solve.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I was hooked in from the beginning and the story just really help me sucked me in. It was engaging and entertaining. The mystery was really good with moments of suspense and intrigue, yet easy to follow as the clues came together. I loved the whole set up with the dogs in the tireman community and the banter between the sheriff, and Annie. It was just so good that I could not put it down. I wasn’t anticipating reading it one go, but I I couldn’t stop. I was really impressed with this one. Plus, it is great with all the Easter feels.

Oh my word! Lyndsey Cole has crafted yet another brilliant book, with twists and turns to keep your interest all the way through!
This time Annie suddenly ends up running the cafe as Leona has cracked under the pressure and needs a few days off, the problem is they are catering for an Easter meal at a Senior Residential Home, but Annie and Mia step up and get things sorted, the next problem is the Easter Bunny (aka a young man called Forrest Spring in a rabbit costume) has knocked over some of the food (but they had catered for 2nds and Mia is great at portion control), they hope this is the last of the problems but as often happens they come in threes and the final one is the Easter Bunny dead in the main office!
With one of the seniors (Sylvia) looking in the police department's eyes as suspect #1 Annie, her dog Roxy (now a trained therapy dog), a couple of the other seniors and Annie's elderly friend Thelma are putting their heads together to find out what is rotten at the heart of what should be a happy retirement and find out who bumped off the bunny!
This was the first cozy that I've read by this writer. It was a cute mystery with pretty likable characters but not a favorite book by any means. The descriptions of all of the food at the cafe did make this dieting girl very hungry though! I thought the ending was exciting but yet predictable and I dislike the fact that Sleuth Annie didn't exactly guess whodunit herself. I might consider reading more in this series at some point.
This is a cute Easterish themed cozy mystery. I haven't read others in the "Black Cat Cafe" series yet but probably will. This one was fairly stand alone but I wouldn't mind knowing more about previous happenings.
I appreciate that the main cop/detective in this one isn't condescending of what the civilians discover. She's actually rather nice as far as police personnel go for a cozy mystery.
Wow there were a few mysteries going on that connected with the main one, but everything ended up getting solved. I felt so bad for the people at Golden Living after they found out what was happening to their money, so I was extra happy to read about that being solved as well as the murder. Marvin was cracking me up and proved to be a really helpful character when it came to the showdown. Things are never dull in Catfish Cove!
This is a terrific book. I haven't read the earlier books, but it didn't matter. This is a page-turner of a murder mystery. Plenty of red-herrings, twists and turns, and delicious food. Annie is a modest heroine, always thinking of others. Very enjoyable reading, and highly recommended reading for everyone. Top marks, Lyndsey Cole. This book is a winner.
This is m favorite Catfish Cove story yet! It will warm your heart, make you mad, even get you thinking about the future and how important true friends really are. Yes it even jerked a few years towards the end! Definitely worth reading.
The last book of another series I've enjoyed. This one introduced some new and interesting characters. I liked the story and didn't feel like wringing Leona's neck, as I have in several of the other books.
I have followed this series from the very first book and have enjoyed each and every one of them. The plots are all well written and the characters are a lot of fun
I enjoyed figuring out who was the murderer. While I figured out who did it I still enjoyed following the story as Annie figured it out. This series has been a lot of fun. Annie and Jason are a good team. Leona is a wild and crazy lady.
Kindle Unlimited, lot of stuff going on in these stories, although most never makes sense and some just hurts, as in cardboard characters and situations.
