M.C. Cerny is a USA Today Bestselling author of fresh sexy books. She experienced her first real ugly cry reading, Where The Red Fern Grows, and never looked back. She lives with a menagerie of human and feline fur-babies in rural NJ. When M.C. is not writing, you’ll find her lurking in Starbucks, running stupid marathons, and eating all the tacos while plotting her next book.
This is the book that I liked the most by this author. Adam Huntley has conquered me, this cruel and twisted gánster has driven me crazy. If you are looking for a book with rainbows and unicorns look for another book, but if you like to take a walk on the violent and dark side, start reading. The story begins when a 14-year-old Elizabeth steals a Bentley. What she does not know is that the owner of the car is a powerful and dangerous mob boss, and after a chase she manages to escape, but before she has the opportunity to look into the eyes of who is going to be her jailer, her tormentor, her husband. During the flight Elizabeth cuts her foot and ends up infected. Elizabeth lives with her brother Eddie and his girlfriend Fiona, who is studying to be a nurse. Fiona sees the infection and Elizabeth is taken to the hospital, where Adam finds her. Adam is not going to let the car incident go by and offers Elizabeth a choice: his brother and girlfriend´s life or her own. Elizabeth, without knowing it, will be signing a pact with the devil.
“Every piece was slowly falling into place. Elizabeth had no idea how she fit into my puzzle, and I could not have accounted for the strange perfection of her coming into my life. Another card in my stack, I’d be able to use later when I need. A shame she had no idea it wasn’t her body I wanted, not now anyway, I wanted her heart and soul. She would be my legacy when I couldn’t physically produce a viable one, and I would spend the next few years molding her to my liking. Poor girl had no idea what turned her on and all the better to train her to my liking, even if I wasn’t keeping her. I could not be soft with her, not ever. Revenge didn’t have a soft side. Softness exposed your underbelly, a weakness I could not afford. “You know that you’re mine, Elizabeth. No one touches this. No one comes close enough to taste this juicy cunt except me.”Lucky for Elizabeth, I wanted better for her. I wanted her to have the life I never would, even if I had to hurt her a little to get there. My love for her was blasphemous. I eagerly lead my lamb to slaughter. I owned her life, her soul, and her pert little ass for the time being until I could hand her off to my successor.
Adam sends her to a nun school until she turns 18 and then he marries her. A curiosity: during his marriage he does EVERYTHING with her ( oral sex, anal sex, mindfucks..,) except deflower her. And he mistreats her constantly with insults, beatings, humiliations, he brand her with a hot poker ... But be careful if someone comes up with something to say or so against her, the more likely it is that he will end up blowing their brains out.
“My plan had been in motion for years, and I wasn’t going to let a little thing like weapons, money, and war create more marital discord. She owed me everything including the fruit of her loins I had yet to partake in. Maybe I was a sadist in letting her think her cunt was off the hook completely. For now, I would settle with marking her and tightening the leash on her freedom. Brand the loyalty back into her, starting with the hot metal poker I held in my hand. “Just marking my property, wife. Promise, this will hurt me more than you.” And it would. I had been careful to avoid scarring her so far, but this was more than a tattoo. It was a branding. I could live with that, in fact seeing my mark on her wetted my appetite for pain. She froze, a deer in the headlights, and I pressed the hot poker against the back of her neck for a second. That’s all it takes for the skin to sear, burn, and blister. She howled like an animal close to death. Injured. Marred. Submitted. Mine. Who would want her anyway after I was through with her? No one, and I preferred it that way. I swept the hair off her neck so I could see the freshly oozing wound marking her as mine. “I did well choosing the iron.” Surprising myself, fingers pressed along the edges of the neat initials earning me a piercing cry.
Never penetrating her cunt. I was keeping that field fresh and unsullied from my darkness. I could plow other things to ease my frustration. The world had one Adam Huntley, and I was sane enough to realize that was an unapparelled burden. My darling wife finally understood the predicament she put herself in. Oh the tangled webs we weave, and to think I’m the crazy fucker who masterminded this. Why must she make this so damn hard for me? Because a wild thing can never be captive no matter how hard I tried. Did she not think I wouldn’t know what she was up to the moment Agent Jackson showed up sniffing around her Chanel skirts and cultured pearls? Poor sweet deluded Elizabeth. I was tired doing this work. My legacy came next as I retired. I only wish I had more time to say goodbye to her. Despite all this, I had known a great love from the time a blue eyed girl stood on a rooftop and defied me. I raked my gaze over her with longing as they shove me inside the car slamming the door shut on us. It was only temporary. I’d be out before tomorrow on a technicality. I choose this life, and even my love for a precious pearl wouldn’t change my path.
But this book is not just about the twisted relationship between Adam and Elizabeth. It turns out that Adam despite being a SOB has certain limits like providing weapons to certain terrorists. This is all part of a plan to get revenge on his father, an army general. And it’s key piece? His little brother Aaron, who is a navy SEAL who gets screwed up.
This was my first read by MC Cerny, and I am not a usual reader of dark romance, but I have been trying different genre's recently, and I am so glad that I decided to read this one. This book was full of twists, turns and very well written and developed characters. Elizabeth is a spitfire with so much guts, confidence and mouth. Her love for her brother is so amazing, they definitely had a special connection, but that was to be expected due to their circumstances. Adam - well he is used to getting his own way, and is very twisted...but in the end, seems more human. Aaron - is amazing! It is written in dual POV, and I loved that, it made this book so unique and much better than had it been one point of view. I did not want to put it down once I started it. It kept me captiviated the whole book. It will definitely have triggers for some, and would recommend only for a mature audience. Thank you for a great read MC Cerny, even though I saw this is not your normal genre to write in, I believe you did an excellent job.
I've tried to write this review 2 other times and deleted it, so let's hope the third time is the one. The premise of this book had so much potential, dark, rich, angry, alpha male obsessed with a young, streetwise, sassy, beauty. He sends her to school to complete her education to make her socially acceptable. When she comes of age, he marries her and starts his dark grooming and his plotting for revenge. This was where I started having problems. There is nothing likable or redeeming at all about Adam. He uses, abuses, discards, manipulates without remorse or care. Elizabeth is a pawn he will use without any consideration. And the same for his own brother, Aaron. But, I felt the author really wanted you to sympathize with Adam!?! I felt the story was too long and too muddy at times during most of the first half of the book. All that said, the last third of the book was really much more interesting, moved quicker, and really held my attention. It was almost like I was reading 2 separate books. If I were to review the 2 halves separately, first part a 2 1/2, but the last half, a 4 1/2. It's worth the read, just be prepared.
Mr. Huntley’s Wife is a dark romance. Elizabeth and Adam tell their journey together through their own perspective (dual POV). This story held me captive from the very beginning! This may not be everyone’s reading choice but if you like dark romance then be prepared for an awesome read! Elizabeth has been dealt a shitty hand and is making the best of it. She is feisty, determined and a strong person. She would do anything for her brother. Adam is a strong alpha male that know what he wants and will not let anything stop him from getting it. His reputation proceeds him. Elizabeth and Adams story is dark and beautiful at the same time. I love their story. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review!
This book. I'm gobsmacked. I had no idea going into this what it would entail. I thought I knew from the blurb but I was wrong on so many levels. The twists, the secrets, the intricate plan to make this novel. Mind blown.
I can't say much without giving away the story. What I can say is that anyone who reads this story had better be prepared because this is a mind screw of epic proportions. EPIC. PROPORTIONS. I still have questions that need answered so this was not a full five star read but I will round up because sweet lord do I love when a book takes me on a journey.
I hope this author writes more books like this because it was amazing. I would love it if she wrote a book for Spencer and Bayleigh. Pretty please. I need to know what happened and the why.
Mr. Huntley’s Wife is a suspenseful and gripping read. Elizabeth comes from a hard life. Adam has a vision of what he wants with Elizabeth; he also does not take no for an answer. By use of manipulation and mob tactics Adam gets what he wants. Aaron definitely is a huge twist in this story and not what I expected as the brother of Adam. The ending of the book is a definite twist.
This book does contain abuse and violence which could cause triggers for people. It is a great read and one you don’t want to put down.
Wow. This book is dark, suspenseful and unpredictable. There are triggers for some people . Elizabeth has had a hard life. When she is forced into a relationship with Adam. He is a force to say the least. I was drawn into this book. That is so original. I absolutely loved that it was written in a dual POV that gave you insight into each character. I am an avid reader so it is refreshing to read something that is captivating and has more twists and turns than you can predict. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
OMFG!! WHAT DID I JUST FINISHED READINF!! SPEECHLESS!! JUST SPEECHLESS!! M.C. Cerny is a New Author for me and She BLEW ME AWAY with MR. HUNTLEY'S WIFE!! Adam Huntley is a evil gun running mobster who loves to inflict pain and suffering on others. Elizabeth steals from him when she’s 14 and he immediately takes control of her life and makes it miserable. She becomes his wife of her 18th birthday and the hell gets worse. This is not a typical lovey romantic book. It’s violent and dark and has some weird twists.
My first book with M.C.Cerny and I would admit she didn't disappoint. This book was a total mind F. The deception, the secrets and the games, ooh my gosh so amazing, it was different and so wrong but right at the same time. This story was just great a sick twisted one, but a great story. Definitely looking for more books from this author. A must read.
This book will have you wanting to kick the real Adam butt and cuss him out. She is being raised by her older sibling she is rebellious and carefree. She is sent away and after she is of age. Ita the start of their relationship. Their relationship is rocky but the secrets that are in this book will wow you Its hot and steamy just the right amount. Loved the ending
This book was a rollercoaster filled with twists and turns. You see hints of things, but until it comes to be, you're not sure. Doesn't help that the main person causing all of this is someone who is certifiably crazy. The things the characters in this book go through, geez. I'm so glad Lizzie got the ending she deserved
This was a good book! It is dark, intense and may be a trigger for some. I liked how the story was told from both view points. It kept me interested. However, there were some things I didn't care for, and since I don't give spoilers in my review, you will have to read the book. I do recommend it, but be warned. It truly is dark.
WOW....JUST WOW! This story took me into a world that was disturbingly dark, painful and heart wrenching. I had a gauntlet of emotions; surprise, anxiety, anger, sadness, sympathy and compassion. The twists and turns were thought provoking. This was a gutsy story. I couldn't put it down. This is probably not for everyone but for me this was one amazing emotional read. 📖
This suspense dark romance holy crap I didn’t want to stop reading until the end. Lizzie steals from mr Huntley she never Imagined him taking her and keeping her till she’s of age to be a young bride yes their are twists.
This was a rollercoaster ride that kept me guessing until the end! Dark and sexy M.C. is delish...I want to see more darkness from her I can't write too much because I don't want to give anything away but I totally love Lizzie and a certain version of Adam, the other version can rot in hell
I liked the story but this needs to be edited again. Most of the time I won’t read a book with this many errors but I was too caught up in it. If you can handle the errors I’d suggest reading it.
Lies, deceit, corruptions and then love. When i first started reading I was like what the hell, but as the book progresses it becomes clear. Twist and turns at every page turn. Love in the end.
Dark romance is not my usual read but I thought I would give this a try. Man it was one twisted demented ride. I have to admit I was glued to my kindle to see what happens next.
If you enjoy a dark read, you will like this. So good. I didn't see that twist coming and I had no idea where the story was going the first half but it was so good!!!
