Below Deck gave me the biggest urge to head to the beach to enjoy the sand. What's surprising about that is the fact that I hate the beach. Tara Sivec did that good of a job at setting the scene for this book and made me feel like I was sitting on the deck of a yacht, waiting for Declan to come join me. Still waiting by the way...

I was a little scared about the rich-girl theme in this story but I surprisingly really enjoyed reading about Mackenzie. She was very down to earth and not stuck up at all so her character was easy to relate to and I instantly liked her. I especially liked her with Declan and thought the two made a wonderful couple. Past all their drama of course.

The story was a little more angsty than I usually like but I didn't have any issues with the drama in this one since it went with the overall story very well. Declan was a fun character and I liked how determined he was to get his life goals accomplished and I admired that he didn't let his financial situation deter him from those goals. He and Mackenzie were great together and even though they had differences, they were actually really similar and I loved seeing how they were the same in some ways.

Bottom line, this is a fun and light read that would be good for when you're looking for something easy and pleasurable to read. It's a recommended read from me and I hope many will enjoy getting reading this love story.

I feel like going on a vacation right now. You know that sense of peace you feel just knowing you can relax and not worry about anything for a while? That’s what I felt when I was reading this book. I practically heard the waves lapping at each other, I tasted the flavorful food, I got drunk off the island rum, and the sand between my toes was the best relaxation that I ever got in my imaginary vision of being on an Island.

Declan McGillis can’t stand rich people. They’re higher than thou superior pisses him off to the point of no return and knowing he has to deal with them everyday, makes him more antsy. But when you’re Boson working for a Charter Yacht Club, the rich are now part of your work circle. Having set specific moral rules for himself that includes not screwing the passengers, is what Declan thrives on and knowing that he’s not a rule breaker, has him feeling pretty confident. But you know what they say about rules: they’re meant to be broken. Especially with a tempting blue eyed brunette.

There are a lot of rules in yachting, but nothing more sacred than the Holy trinity- never go anywhere without your radio, never shit where you eat, and never, ever cross the line with a guest.

Mackenzie Armstrong is not too happy to be spending an entire week with her new Stepmother and sister on a luxury yacht. Getting a root canal? Sure. Being stuck in an elevator by yourself? Absolutely. Having to conversate and be in their presence practically 24/7? Hell. No. But Mackenzie loves her father and being a part of the family trip would mean the world to him so along with her best friend, she agrees to one hell of a week sailing the paradise islands. What could possibly go wrong on this trip? Falling for someone that doesn’t like rich people that’s what.

“I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge, and Declan Mc6just moved to the top of my to-do list..

A lot can happen when you’re away for ten days but for Declan and Mackenzie, their ten days were filled with arguments, miscommunication, passion, heart felt stories, broken promises and an unexpected love. Declan was the type of character that at first glance you couldn’t help but feel a kindred bond towards him and even though I hated some of his actions, I understood him as a person. Now don’t get me wrong, I wanted to throw him off deck a bunch times because that man certainly tested me but I think all of those things shaped him.

I adored Mackenzie and I loved the fact that this girl never kept her mouth shut. If she felt like she was being disrespected, she’s going to let you know and I love when I come across a heroine like that. This was a quick and relaxing story that made me laugh and feel like I took a mini vacation with the entire gang and knowing that my yacht has now docked,, I don’t want to leave.

If you’re looking for sexy read with a touch of forbidden, then this one is for you guys.

This was the perfect "beach read" book

It was cliché and predictable and everything I needed in a "I've read this same story a million times but its still enjoyable" sort of way.

The writing was good
The sex scenes were great
The characters were well developed but not really multifaceted or unique in any way
and ...
I basically knew the entire plot from the first line of the book.

It was romance comfort food. Something I didn't have to pay a ton of attention to but could sit back and just enjoy the familiarity of the story.

The Story

Her
"I've always known I was never the type of woman who could handle a one-night stand or a quick fling."

Him
"I knew the moment Mackenzie Armstrong walked onto the ship that my life would change forever,"

Such a sexy, sunny and adorable romance!

I loved it.
It's all a bit insta-ish, but what do you expect when you know that the whole book will happen on/around this yacht within 10 days. So it didn't bother me. I don't have anything against lust/love at first sight!

I really enjoyed reading it. It was so very sunny and exotic and hot and verrry sexy!
But it's not all empty fun. We have some real problems. Mackenzie at her company and with her horrible step-mom and sister.
And poor Declan. He's been hurt before by a rich girl. He doesn't trust easily. And he doesn't want to lose sight of his captain dreams.
Even though they're from two different worlds, now that he's getting to know Mackenzie, he's not sure if he'll ever be able to let her go again....

Adorable!

Of course we also have this typical romance book thing towards the end - which is usually either a misunderstanding or a lie or a 'just-not-talking-to-each-other' thing. It happens here too and I don't like that in my books, but it happens in almost all of them, so I'm used to it...didn't bother me much. We all know that they will make up by the end of the book! ☺

BELOW DECK was a really sexy, sunny & adorable lovestory! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Declan - this on is MINE!!!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tara Sivec is one of my favorite authors. She always seems to right fantastic novels with catchy stoylines and fun and witty characters. This is no different with Below Deck. With that, one of my favorite things about this novel is the setting. Here in New England where I live its slightly cold and rainy (today at least) and being able to take a journey to some tropical islands within this novels made the dreariness of today go away. This this book would be a great companion on a cold and wet day or even on the beach with the sand between your toes. I also enjoyed that the story is low on drama (although there is a little bit) as it made for a fun escape. One of the downfalls though is that the story is missing the authors trademark humor that I have grown to love. Sure there were some LOL moments, but not like the ones we saw in her Chocolate Lovers series.

Overall this is a great book to escape with. It's got all the romance it needs and is pretty faced paced in terms of reading time. I actually read it in the span of a few hours. So, if your looking for something super light and fun than pick up Below Deck. I recommend it, along with the other stories written by the author!

Tara has a way of connecting you to her characters like only some authors can do for me. They feel and talk like my friends all talk to each other. The secondary and tertiary characters are some of the funniest parts of the story. Although, the step-monsters are awful we all know some bitches like them.

Declan and Ben had the best guy relationship, they felt like brothers more than coworkers. MacKenzie and Brooke are every girl and her best friend.

There was the perfect blend of angst, hot romance, tension and laughter. Declan & MacKenzie had some seriously smoking hot sex scenes.

I highly recommend if you are looking for a funny, feel good book.

DiDi's review:

3.5 stars

Declan Mc Gillis has been working on charter yachts for several years, his ultimate goal is to become a Captain and run his own yacht. To achieve his goal he has focused on learning as much as he can from his current Captain and not being a big partier. Over the years he has developed an aversion to rich people because of the way they treat the crew on their trips. So when Declan learns about the next set of passengers, who are going on a 10 cruise for $200,000, he automatically assumes they will be as bad, if not worse, than previous passengers. When he first sets eyes on Mackenzie Armstrong he falls for her bad, but has to remind himself that, in spite of their over the top chemistry and inst-feelings, he cannot have a fling with her for at least two reasons; one it could ruin his shot at Captain, two she is from a different world than his and is not his type of woman.

Mackenzie is grudgingly going on this trip with her father, his new horrible new wife and her daughter. She brings along her best friend Brooke to help her survive the trip without committing murder. Mackenzie’s been going through a lot of stress and not enjoying life, so Brooke convinces her to try to have a fling with Declan.

Declan and Mackenzie have a combustible chemistry and every time they act on it he ends up pulling away and being a jerk to her. When he realizes Mackenzie isn’t what he initially assumed it could be too late to win her back.
I love the witty, snarky banter that Ms. Sivec always has in her books, it never fails to give me many LOL moments! Ms. Sivec also builds family and friendships in a way like no other and it’s always refreshing to read how the secondary cast impacts the main characters.

I enjoyed Below Deck, there were a few times some of it seemed a bit repetitive and I really wanted to see at least Mackenzie vs. step-monster smackdown! I feel like I was cheated out of seeing that witch get her butt handed to her! The epilogue was an added bonus and THANK YOU Ms. Sivec for writing one.

With a sexy, funny, snarky hero, heroine and secondary cast, Below Deck was a great book for me to start after finishing a dark romance. It would also be a great rainy day read or a book just to get lost in and enjoy yourself! I recommend it to all romantic comedy fans.

3 "If that was pretend...." Stars

Tara Sivec never ever fails to make you laugh with her romantic comedies. Below Deck stars two main characters a little lost in their lives. Both uber-focused on misguided goals hidden behind the walls built around their hearts. With Sivec's hilariously crafted plot, succinctly written words, and a beautiful Caribbean setting this rom-com story flies by leaving you satisfied.

They're on a boat! Declan McGillis works as part of a charter yacht crew. With goals to one day captain his own ship he has no time in his life for the distraction that is the good looking and adorable wily Mackenzie Armstrong. Mackenzie, vacationing on the yacht with step-monsters mother and sister, her best friend, and her father, never indulges in the benefits of one night stands and flings. Having been strapped in a job she doesn't love in order to keep her father on track and being related by marriage to two unbearable women her life is teetering on the edge. Mackenzie drools that first time she meets Declan much to his amusement. From here a comedic story takes off. There's much sexiness and romance in the Caribbean with these two. Fun dates and sharing, miscommunications and confused hearts with lots of passion.

Below Deck works great for lovers of Romantic comedy, sarcasm, and likable characters aboard a ship where anything can happen. I enjoyed my respite while reading this book and think any rom-com fans will enjoy it too.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my rating or feelings.*

Tara Sivec never disappoints, and she has yet again written a fun, sexy romance that everyone will love!

More than anything else, Below Deck made me want to take a yacht trip or a cruise. I mean, I've been on several cruises and this brought back so many good memories... I digress.

Declan is a Boson. I had no clue what the fuck that was until I read this book, so thanks, Tara, for giving me a new vocab word. Anyhow, it's just a fancy term for the deckhand in charge of all the other deckhands. He seems like he's just under the captain in importance. He hates rich people, but loves his job. He aspires to be a captain himself someday. He's really close to achieving that goal when the beautiful Mackenzie Armstrong boards his boat.

Mackenzie is seemingly rich. Her father developed an app that changed their lives. But, he recently married a younger woman. And she's been noticing that her father and his company are in financial peril. So, despite the outward appearances, the Armstrongs aren't what or who they seem.

First off, the chemistry between Declan and Mackenzie sizzles from the very second they make eye contact. And yes, I know this is a romance and they're undoubtedly going to hook up at some point, but it's all the stuff leading up to it that makes it hot. Neither character is interested in a hook-up initially. They have their reasons, but after a while, it becomes too much to deny what's between them. And even though Declan is a complete dick at times, there's something about him you can't help but love. I shouldn't condone his assholeness, but I did understand his reasons. It's all about protecting yourself, your hopes and dreams.

Then there are the two best friends: Ben and Brooke. Oh my god. I had almost forgotten the genius that are Tara's background characters. These two are HILARIOUS. And they add much-needed humor when the story needs it most. I absolutely loved them and kinda wish we'd have gotten a bit more from them.

As for the story, I really enjoyed it. I loved that Mackenzie and Declan had reservations about admitting their true feelings and commitment. And people can argue all they want, but Mackenzie is a strong woman. The sacrifices she made for her family are commendable. It made her likable and relatable. The blonde witches are the stereotypical rich types. The ones we hate the most. And you will want them to be taken down several notches. The sexy times are hotter than Hell itself. And there are plenty of them, so there is no need to worry about that aspect. I also will say that Mackenzie and Declan have more than a physical connection, too. We get to know them quite well and it's obvious they're perfect for each other.

Fans of Tara Sivec will love this as much as her other romance stories. It is perfectly written. In fact, I finished in a matter of hours. And the epilogue was flawless and adorable---so fitting of the story.

Below Deck is a standalone adult contemporary romance. The narrators are Declan and Mackenzie.

Declan is 32 years old and works on a luxury yacht. He is in charge of the deckhands and everything to do with the exterior of the boat.

MacKenzie is late 20s. Her father is very wealthy. He has chartered the yacht Declan work's on. On the yacht the guests are Mackenzie's dad, his new wife and her daughter, Mackenzie and Mackenzie's best friend Brooke.

I have not read any contemporary romances set on a yacht. So I was looking forward to this setting. Plus I loved seeing the beaches and island get-aways.

Declan has a rule to never get involved with any of the guests. So even though he is attracted to Mackenzie he does not want to get involved with her.

The book is light, fun, happy, sweet, cute, fluffy, funny, short, full of insta-love. It is much sexier than I thought it would be.

At first I thought that this light sexy read was exactly what I needed. But there was too much sex for me. Although I suspect that will be a selling point for many readers. The setting on the yacht was fun. But I wish the story had been less fluff and more twisty.

I loved Mackenzie's friendship with Brooke. I loved the setting. I enjoyed Mackenzie and Declan. But am not a huge fan of people falling for each other so quickly.

The epilogue was fantastic. It was definitely my favorite part of the book. And I liked the double meaning of the title.

Overall, if you are looking for something light and sexy then this read will be perfect for you. It was an enjoyable and quick read.

3.5 Below Deck Stars

Ok so I liked this book but I didn’t love it and it’s hard for me to not have a 5 star book by Tara because I love all her work.

This was a good book I just didn’t connect well with Mackenzie, I wanted to see the strong female character she was but all we really got to see was her falling apart a lot and I can see that with everything she was dealing with.

I guess I just wanted more from her. And I like Declan hell just his name alone is yummy but he was a little wishy washy for me. He let others tell him things and he believed it without proof or a conversation and yeah that wasn’t cool.

Again great book Loved some parts wished others were stronger but I love Tara’s work so I am glad I read it.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Below Deck by Tara Sivec
Erotic Romance. Standalone.
4.5 stars

Get ready to get wet! (boat pun).

I had no idea Below Deck by Tara Sivec was going to be such a hot little vacation in the Virgin Islands! I knew she was writing a romance on a luxury yacht after watching the reality show Below Deck, but I had no idea it might be her hottest novel yet!

I read Below Deck this past weekend. If I wasn't out so much it would have been a one sitting read. It was a very hot, indulgent, fun weekend escape. There was nothing too epic or emotional or angsty, just good sexy storytelling. Though we don’t get Tara’s over-the top humor, we still get a lot of funny, especially in best friends Ben and Brooke.
"There are a lot of rules in yachting, but nothing more sacred than the Holy trinity–never go anywhere without your radio, never shit where you eat, and never, ever cross the line with a guest."

Declan McGillis is the Bosun (head deckhand) for a luxury charter yacht, and he is one test away from becoming captain. He is focused on his career and works hard and follows the rules. He has seen the rich, stuck up people who charter the boat for weeks at a time. He sees the way the crew are treated no better than dirt under their shoe. So despite the fact that one of the women on the new charter is the most gorgeous girl he’s ever seen, he plans on staying far away.
"Shit. Dimples. I’m definitely having a quick fling with this guy. No woman can resist dimples."

Mackenzie Armstrong is joining her father and his new trophy wife and daughter on a luxury trip through the virgin Islands. The wife and daughter are quite possibly the most wretched people on the planet, but luckily Mackenzie brought her best friend along for a buffer. Mackenzie is leaving behind major problems at her father’s company where she works. She knows this trip is is a luxury they can’t afford but her father is too wrapped up in the women to notice that she has been woking day and night to dig the company out. She needs to let loose, and when she sees Declan she might just do that.
“I think I’m gonna need some pointers on how to have a vacation fling.”

I love how in a Tara Sivec book you always get real people you want to hang out with. I loved Mackenzie. Despite Declan being a bit of a douche sometimes, I still liked him. But I really loved his best friend Ben and her best friend Brooke. I loved how there was snark and humor but it was never the wear-a-pad kind of humor Tara is known for, and I wouldn’t consider this a romantic comedy as much as an erotic romance. But still, there was a lot of funny. (See the excerpt below).
“Your tits are fucking amazing,” I tell her in awe.
“Thanks. I grew them myself,” she replies, arching her back and sticking her chest out a little more.

Let me tell you, there was no shortage of HOT scenes.
“Put your hands on the railing. And hold on tight.”

And Declan is breaking ALL of his rules.
“All I can think about is that Goddamn kiss. Every time I close my eyes I can taste you, and smell you, and feel you against me, and it’s driving me fucking insane.”

Unfortunately, it makes him into an asshole a couple of times, and I like that Mackenzie didn’t torture him for the sake of angst.

Let me tell you again, this is an erotic romance. So there are a lot of sexy times, but there are still a number of great story threads running through the book. I loved to hate the stepmonster and stepsister, and I loved to love Brooke and Ben. All in all, Below Deck was a light, delicious, sexy escape and I gobbled it up like candy.
"With a groan of relief, I pull my hips back and then push myself inside of her, slowly, until my cock is so deep I don’t know where I end and she begins. It’s cliché as fuck and I don’t care. I want her to be my beginning and I want her to be my end."

Likes:

•Can’t think of one.

The Down & Dirty:
It’s no secret I’m a Tara Sivec lover. She is the reason I started Wicked Book Weekend 5 years ago. But I have definitely liked some books more than others. Tara nails every genre she writes though, and this erotic romance is the perfect juicy escape from life. Is it an epic read? No. Was it emotional? A little, but nothing noteworthy. But it was a combination of all the things I love in a book. It was fun, sexy and easy. It had characters I totally want to hang with, and characters I totally wanted to hang (evil stepmonster). It had banter, great supporting characters, sex scenes that almost melted my kindle and just enough angst to keep it interesting. Below Deck was the perfect afternoon escape. I loved it!

Declan McGillis usually has no trouble completing his Bosun duties aboard the yacht he works on and keeping things professional with the yacht guest. But Mackenzie Armstrong manages to catch his eye and draws him in. She is the daughter of a wealthy man who chartered the yacht to celebrate his new marriage. Mackenzie is stuck sailing with her new step-monster and evil step-sister along with her dad, but at least she has her bestie, Brooke, along for moral support.

Declan does not want distractions,so he he tries to resist his pull towards Mackenzie and to follow his no dating guests rule. But he ends up playing games as he is pulled into temptation, then retreats, reappears, gets angry or defensive, and the pattern repeats. His attempts to be good, just make both of them crazy.

Mackenzie is totally on board with a cruise fling, she just has to convince him to go with it. But the problem with a vacation fling is what happens if someone gets attached. It's easy to say it's just sex with a time limit, but that runs the risk of someone is singing a different tune by the end. But their lives and dreams don't seem to mesh, so they have to be okay with the inevitable.

Oh my...Declan...I had a love/hate relationship with him. His mood swings, poor communication, insecurities, and fight or flight made my head spin. He was big on making assumptions, believing the worst, and acting quickly. And the boy could avoid, run, or or push her away with great skill. But he also had a vulnerable, scared part of him that I had to latch onto. And when he was happy and they were in sync, he could be charming, sexy, and even sweet.

Mackenzie was strong, funny, sarcastic, and down to earth. She was easy to like. She was at a crossroads and had a lot of stress in her life, and could be self-sacrificing. But she didn't always say what was on her mind either and kept secrets.

These two were bound to be the best or worst thing to ever happen to the other. They could talk themselves in and out of everything pretty quickly, and did it over and over. Their banter fluctuated from flirty and sexy to antagonistic and challenging. They were both scared, insecure, and afraid of taking a risk. But their chemistry was never in question.

This was a humorous, fun, frustrating, angsty, steamy, and romantic vacation love story. The yacht and tropical locations were interesting. I liked their side kicks Brooke, Ben, Zoe, and even cranky Marcel. The evil step family were easy to despise. I felt like I went on vacation with some annoying people, but also met a group of quirky and cool ones to hang out with while in luxurious settings and tropical escapes. So it was a sweet and sexy adventure on the high seas with love (and drama) in the air.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Declan has a great job. He works on a luxury yacht and has aspirations of being the captain of his own boat. His life consists of making sure other people have a great time. His goals keep him warm at night because he knows the fastest way to sink his dreams is to get tangled up with a guest. No matter how good they look in a bathing suit.

Mackenzie doesn't want a vacation. She has her hands full with trying to keep her father's company afloat. She doesn't have time to sail around the Caribbean with her dad and his new family. But Mackenzie will do anything to keep her dad happy. And keep his company above water. She has plenty to focus on. She doesn't need a sexy deck hand getting her off course.

<>I think I'm going to need some pointers on how to have a vacation fling.

Mackenzie and Declan has a connection. One that don't want to ignore. But they both know this ends when land is in sight. Can a fling be as satisfying as their goals? Is it worth the risk?

Tara Sivec is at it again. She gives us a fun, sexy vacation romp that makes you want to dive in. The problem with vacation love....the vacation ends. And where does that leave the love?

Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders is never an easy task. For Mackenzie - the insurmountable worry she feels about the steady demise of her father’s fortune plagues her every thought. A new marriage to a much younger woman has resulted in a fleecing of their company funds. Mackenzie is determined to find a way to prove it was her step-monster that is siphoning funds. Until then, Mackenzie is stuck entertaining her father by taking a family vacation.

Determined to keep her head above water, Mackenzie brings her best friend Brooke along on the trip. This extravagant trip about a yacht is the last thing the family needs financially, but Mackenzie’s father is determined to give his new bride her hearts desire. Brooke convinces Mackenzie that her father’s lack of attention to his business (and money) shouldn’t fall upon her shoulders. Brooke is determined to get Mackenzie to let loose and enjoy the sun during the trip. After climbing aboard the luxury yacht, Brooke nudges Mackenzie to enjoy the ‘sights’ that this trip offers…..mainly in the form of a certain crew member named Declan!!

Mackenzie can’t believe how one person can set of such a range of fireworks from the moment their eye connect. For Declan - Mackenzie is the one temptation he has encountered in his quest to become a ship captain. For years - Declan has set his sights on working his way through the ranks on the crew of the Helio. A task that keeps him away at sea for long stretches of time. Now he is close to taking his test to become a captain. However, all of that fades from his mind when he sets his sights on Mackenzie.

These two are fighting an attraction so deep neither can ignore it. Brooke pushing Mackenzie to explore a temporary fling while on this luxury trip. Declan is fighting within himself the consequences of acting on his feelings. First impressions leading him to believe that Mackenzie is a pampered princess that couldn’t know how the real world ‘works’. No matter the misgivings, these two embark upon a ‘no strings attached’ romance during their time at sea. What neither could predict is just how deep their feelings would run after spending their time together. Does the docking of the ship signal the end of a really great cruise? Only time will tell if this romance was destined for the rocky seas.

What a rocky journey Mackenzie and Declan embark upon. A ten day cruise filled with stolen moments, passion, miscommunication, and some really hot sex!!! While some of Declan’s actions and statements to Mackenzie will leave you ready to choke him, its his struggle to act upon his feelings that really had me by the balls. (well…I don’t really have balls, but you get the picture). I loved the romance that blossomed between the two characters, the romantic excursions at sea, and the ease that they felt in one another’s arms.

The secondary characters add a great layer of sarcasm and wit to Declan and Mackenzie’s life. It was great to see how Brooke’s life ending with the closing of the book as well. Below Deck is a great fast paced read with plenty of sarcasm, wit, and romance! Make sure you pick up your copy today!! You can thank me later!!

First let me say that I am a huge fan of author Tara Sivec's work. She could probably write a few sentences on a bar napkin and I would jump to read it.

This book is a standalone romance with an HEA. Declan's dream is to one day be captain of his own yacht. Currently he is working on one of the largest luxury yachts in a top position, awaiting the time to take his captain license. He learned the hard way not to mess with the crew when drunk and horny and now has to work with the stage 5 clinger who refuses to leave him alone. He vowed he would never again make that mistake or break his cardinal rule of messing with the clients. While the situation is untenable, between the stage 5 clinger and the entitled rich clients who treat the staff poorly, he knows he has to bide his time if he wants to achieve his dream of one day being captain.

Mackenzie Armstrong is the daughter of a self-made millionaire, who after selling a dating app, married a spoiled, high maintenance wife who came with a spoiled, high maintenance daughter. Mackenzie's father decided it would be a great family bonding moment to spend his honeymoon with his new wife, her daughter, and his daughter while chartering this yacht for a vacation in the Caribbean. Mackenzie knew she'd only survive the trip if she had her best friend Brooke along with her.

Right away sparks flew between Declan and Mackenzie but Declan wasn't about to jeopardize his future by messing with a spoiled rich client and Mackenzie doesn't do one night stands. Besides, she has other things to worry about. Things that have been keeping her up at night while she works at her father's company. While it may appear she is a privileged rich brat, things couldn't be further from the truth. As Declan learns more about Mackenzie, he considers breaking his rules, but his situation hasn't changed and neither has Mackenzie's. However, between his best friend Ben and her best friend Brooke, who aren't afraid of breaking rules with each other, they might just be able to convince Declan and Mackenzie to make an exception.

This book was so much fun to read and I read it from start to finish without putting it down. And like many of author Tara Sivec's books, this one has some pretty steamy scenes. So much so that my Mister will be getting him some tonight. *wiggles eyebrows*

I very highly recommend this to anyone who likes standalone romances with an HEA.

I'm a huge fan of the show with the same name... and I honestly felt like I was watching an episode come to life on my Kindle!
Ms. Sivec paints the perfect picture, from a luxurious yacht, breakfast on the deck, to the beauty of the islands, all you're missing is a little umbrella in your drink!

Then there's the steam! This two characters have an insta-connection, and yes, dare I say, an insta-love. Together they are explosive, not just in the bedroom...er...did they ever make it to an actual bedroom?...but also with their feelings.

From hunky deckhands to laundry room shenanigans, this is a funny, quick, and super sexy romcom!

All hands on deck!!! Declan that is;)

Declan thinks Mackenzie is a spoiled princess. Mackenzie thinks Declan is the right person to take her mind off of all of her problems. There's no harm in having a vacation fling. That's all it is right?

Will Mackenzie tell Declan to walk the plank or is he going to end up being her life raft?

This sexy and sweet romance on the high seas was little predictable but a fast and fun read.

4.5 STARS

I simply adored this book! I read it straight through with very little interruption. I don't, usually, read books with insta-love in them because it just doesn't work for me but this one, it worked! The characters were relateable and likable, and you could feel the connection. The storyline was simple with no over-the-top drama. It was the perfect light read.

Can a wealth heiress and boat deckhand make it work beyond a fling?
This book explores that theme, with the light, fun flair that the author is known for.

This story kicks off with a crossroads for both main characters.
***Declan McGillis is one test away from becoming a certified Captain, able to run his own ship, so to speak. He is 100% career-focused. He's a hard worker who over the years, has seen his share of stuck-up travelers which have molded his perceptions of anyone with money.
***Mackenzie Armstrong is struggling to survive the new additions to her family, step-monster Mother and Daughter duo, while trying to save her family from financial ruin. Dragged along on to an overly priced vacation, she has given in to her friends demands to let go and have fun for their brief time at sea.

There is an instant attraction between the two characters, but Declan's commitment to his job, and Mackenzie's stressed out situation, delays the inevitable. And that inevitable is all due to their meddling friends, Brooke and Ben. They are the voice of reason.

While there were some initially hot moments, they were quickly cooled down by one problem. You see, Declan suffers from "foot IN mouth" disease. This guy seriously is offensive towards Mackenzie about 50% of the time, and then spends the next 50% apologizing to her. It's so bad, they make a t-shirt for him - "You’re right. I was wrong. I’m sorry."

Although there is plenty of evidence that Mackenzie is not some uptight princess, Declan can't seem to stop accusing her of being one. I really wanted to hit him. Repeatedly. Maybe throw him overboard without a life raft. So while I really like Mackenzie's character, I struggled to accept Declan's mistakes. He never seemed to learn.

There is a happy ending, but it did feel forced. I wished Declan suffered in some way. In my mind, he was forgiven too easily. Some groveling over a period of days or weeks would have been better. But alas, this book is low in angst, so the drama isn't drawn out in any way.

If you are looking for a light read, this might be for you.

Who's up for a little fun in the sun? Because that is what you will get with Below Deck.

Below Deck is a sweet, sexy, funny vacation fling - but it is also so much more.

Whilst yes it is all insta - that's to be expected on a 10 day yacht trip - but it didn't feel all rushed. Declan and Mackenzie's relationship is kind of Darcy/Elizabethish - except he is the prejudiced one and she is too proud to ask for help.

The lingering looks, the lustful thoughts - fanning myself - oh my it is hot hot hot. But there is so much more to them both, and at times I got quite emotional whilst reading. The bite and the snark between our lovelies drew me right in.

The push/pull between the pair ramped things right up too! At times I wanted to slap some sense in to on or the other of them, but I knew that they would - hopefully - finally figure their crap out.

I read this book in one day, as once I got into it, I couldn't stop. It is not the laugh out loud hilarity that we have come to expect from Ms Sivec, this time it was more.

Can't wait to see what she brings us next.

What do you do when life fails to make you feel safe and never gives you oportunities that everyone around you seem to get without lifting a finger?
You become bitter. You begin to hate people who were born into richness. You can't tolerate the ones that only know to give orders.
You work and then you work harder. For a better life. For better chances. For a better you.
Declan McGillis is doing exactly this.
Without giving much of a chance to the rich ones to prove him wrong, he already seems to know them all.
Spoiled. Brat. Never-worked-in-her-life. - That's what Mackenzie Armstrong is to him.
Someone who will come on the boat he works on, to bark orders around and have everyone at her feet!

But he couldn't have been more wrong. Mackenzie joined her father on his honeymoon with his new wife and her daughter! Too wrapped up in them to even mind her a bit, he seems too out of this world blind at the things that are wrong in his company.
That's why in the past six months, his daughter has done nothing more than trying to keep it afloat and get evidence to show her father who he actually married.
So this trip is no more fun for her than it is for Declan to serve them!

But when they meet every single thing is forgotten.
Declan starts to question his number 1 rule: Never engage with the clients!
And Mackenzie? She thinks she may just have discovered someone with whom she can forget about the troubles in her life for a little while.

I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge, and Declan McGillis just moved to the top of my to-do list..

But what happens when things get too far to stop it? Only one way to turn around. Declan can't seem to stop the asshole in him to surface and she can't seem to be able to NOT forgive him!
Things get hot and heavy quickly and we are introduced to the magic that is Tara Sivec`s love story!

"Let's pretend i'm not a guest and you're not on the crew.
We're just two people who happen to be on the same boat.

What would you do to me then?"

I had such a great time reading this book!! I wanted to finish it in a jiffy! No breaks, no nada!
Thank you, Tara Sivec! ✿✿✿ You are amazing.

4.5 'Stay with me' stars!

I really enjoyed Declan and Mackenzie's story! First, these two are smoking hot together. Fantastic chemistry and the build up to their first kiss, whew. Loved it. I like when a guy grabs your face and gets the job done. It's pretty hot.

I thought Mackenzie was a great character, she's very forgiving. Declan was great too, but boy did the guy have the worst case of the judgies. He thought he had Mackenzie all figured out as a spoiled princess and he was dead wrong. There were a couple of parts where I was all dude....zip it. Stop those words from coming outta your mouth. Just stand there with your Judgey McGee mouth closed and look pretty. 'Kay? Luckily, he snapped out of it and saw the error of his ways.

The epilogue made me all happy-clappy. It was really great, I couldn't stop smiling at the end. The story is a lot of fun and a light read. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone!

I've not read anything by this author but that will have to change after reading this wonderful gem. This was a one sitting read for me. Once I started I just kept on reading.

The story is set on a yacht which I loved.

Declan McGillis is part of a crew on a charter yacht. Yes so close to his dream coming true- being captain of his own yacht. However to make his dream come true he must bide his time and put up with the rich people that he can't stand.

Mackenzie Armstrong is one of those rich people or so Declan believes. When sparks fly between these two can he be strong enough to stand by his own rules?

I found this to be a great storyline with lovely characters. I really liked the secondary characters as well.

It's a normal one of hers, no more crazy family members, not "holidays" series anymore. Back to the square one that, people met, misunderstood, someone only care their own n we r lonely whatever, whoever we are.

D n M, then B n B, father of M.... it's life, we sacrifice, we earn the trust, we r 'ass' because we r human, stupid n stubborn all the time.

Declan McGillis has spent the last four years working on high end yachts, catering to the needs of rich people. Currently, he is the bosun on the Helios, in charge of maintaining the ship while it’s at sea. In that time, he has formed some pretty negative impressions of the wealthy people who spend time on the ship. He is happy on the sea, and happier when clients aren’t snapping demands left and right, but he’ll put up with the demands in order to get a fat tip at the end of the trip. He also sets strict rules: no hooking up with the other crew, and no hooking up with the clients.

Mackenzie Armstrong is on the Helios in an attempt to relax away from work for a couple weeks, reconnect with her father, and maybe find a way to live in peace, if not harmony, with her spoiled, pampered stepmother and stepsister.

Declan and Mackenzie catch each other’s eye early in the trip, but a few rocky missteps mean their interactions are antagonistic in the beginning. But despite the anger simmering between them, there is also attraction and they can’t deny that there is definite chemistry swirling at sea.

I felt for Mackenzie through the whole book. She was in a rough place with her family, and saw things her father didn’t want to see, which kept things tense between them when they used to be so close. At the same time she was also dealing with the back and forth from Declan while she just wanted to relax for a bit.

Declan was often frustrating with his self-sabotage and flip-flopping decisions. He had the making for a full on swoony hero, and he did eventually redeem himself, but during the time they were on the ship, he was epically frustrating to read.

This was a fun, summery read that left me wishing I was on a cruise ship myself, on a beach somewhere, or at least poolside with the sun shining down. The side characters kept things grounded while adding humor to the situations these two find themselves. I loved both Ben and Brooke and the support they offered to Declan and Mackenzie. The epilogue had me smiling at how far this couple had come over the course of the book, and wrapped things up nicely while giving readers a glimpse at what had happened after the main plot was over.

Provided with an ARC for an honest review.

The story takes place on a luxury yacht, where Declan is the boson (head deckhand, in charge of other deckhands).
Declan has a best friend Ben who is also a deckhand on the yacht, who has no desire to advance in his job. Declan has been solely focused on obtaining his captainship and managing his own yacht, where both guests and workers enjoy the same luxuries.
When the captain is briefing the crew about the upcoming family (the Armstrongs) Declan has an immediate reaction to a photo of MacKenzie Armstrong. What will the in person meeting be like?
But Declan believes "not to shit where you eat". Declan finds female company off the boat when at the ports, because when you say to a co-worker "this is just sex because we've been at sea for 4 months and we're both really horny" she assumes you said "I will love you forever and we'll get married and have babies and live happily ever after". Declan is focused on his dream and is determined not to let anything or anyone get in the way.

MacKenzie has an immediate reaction to Declan, drool worthy? Of course because who doesn't drool over a guy with arm tattoos?!
MacKenzie arrives with her bff Brooke, her dad, evil stepmother and of course evil step sisters! Ick I can't stand the thought of the steps! I want to punch there hair extensions out!
MacKenzie is a down to earth girl with a crazy amount of stress on her shoulders. So Brooke encourages MacKenzie to have a vacation fling with Declan to relieve some of that stress.
MacKenzie just want to drive a jet ski and swim with dolphins, so what could go wrong?!

This book is amazingly written and chopped full of details. To be fair I never expected anything less from Tara. Tara has an amazing talent of writing so that the reader is able to visualize their own visuals of each characters and that is a true skill!

Are you ready to get a little wet ;)

For the lovers of Romantic Comedy this is the book for you. We all know Tara Sivec, so be prepared to have a lot of laughs, hotness and sarcasm in Below Deck. She doesn't disappoint.

As soon as I seen Tara wrote this book, I had to read it. I'm a huge fan of the Reality show Below Deck, never missing a season or episode, so I was stoked. I couldn't put this book down. And had quite a few laughs.

There are three rules in being a Yachtie. And those are... never go anywhere without your radio, never shit where you eat, and never, ever cross the line with a guest. And Declan McGillis will break the cardinal rule when it comes to Mackenzie Armstrong. Hell, rules are made to be broken, right.

“Are you wet for me, Mackenzie?”- Declan

These two characters chemistry is HOT from the minute they set sight on each other. It's a back and forth. I mean, you're not supposed to be with a charter guest, so there is tension... very good tension ;) and some interwoven drama. I loved each character separately, as well. And we can not forget about the two best friend's, Brooke and Ben. Those two really brought something to this book. And the two A's... hey that could stand for assholes; I wanted to drown them as soon as they were introduced. Blah!

“Do Hermès bags sink? If the blonde bimbos fall into the water, would they work like flotation devices or drag them to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen or heard from again?”- Brooke

If you're like me and love HEA and Standalone's, Below Deck is a book just for you, but prepared to get a little wet ;) it wraps it's self perfectly and we get the right ending.
