This was my textbook for my systematic theology class. It is filled to the brim with good information. My dear professor wrote it and he is so extremely qualified and more importantly, he has a great heart. Highly recommend for any theologians- but that I am not.
I have greatly appreciated this book and the author. Although I do not know the author personally I have studied with a handful of his past students. If one wants to know how Christian thought has developed over the centuries this is a great read. Cone masterfully includes a wide range of Christian thinkers over the centuries to show how the faith of Jesus has developed and arrived where it is today. I personally have had little training with the early church theologians and creeds even though they have shaped my thoughts I have today. If one is a Christian and wants to know the basis of how they may have come to beliefs they hold this is a good place to begin. If one is a non-Christian who wants to know more about Christianity this is a great primer.
An enjoyable and informative summary read of Systematic theology. Highly suggest reading alongside "A Global Church History" by Rea and Cone, as it is something of a complementary work to this one.
