With Max and Colt taken by the Institute, Sage is desperate to get them back. So when the leader of the West resistance shows up and offers her a deal she can’t refuse, she eagerly accepts. Finally, she is in a position where she can exact revenge on Ebony and the Institute, while also saving the people she loves. But deals have consequences, and she only has so much time to fulfill her end of the bargain.
Rachel lives in New Hampshire, a place secretly known for its supernatural creatures. When she's not in her writing lair, she's partying with her husband and four children. Her love for storytelling began as a child when the moon first possessed the night. For when the lights went out, her imagination painted a whole new world. And what a scary world it was…
The Originals was an overall fun series. Saving Eden included some very unexpected twists and turns - some I liked and some made me want to shake some of the characters because of their choices!! The Super Prime was a whole new element, and I thought it added some suspense to it, but it did make this installment a little more violent than the first two. Everything wrapped up nicely, the ending did seem a bit rushed and underdeveloped. Other than that, it was an exciting fast paced series and I enjoyed it. Going to miss these characters!
Once again the battle is on but Sage feels she is nothing but a hindrance. On top of it all Max and Colt have to be rescued. As she watches the body count pile up an offer is made that will allow her to revenge the losses and be a part of the war but the price is high. The story is as fast and furious as the first two books. There is love and redemption but will Sage live to enjoy it. There is war of the body and mind but is it a battle that can be won. Loads of excitement and intrigue, betrayal and reunions, death and loss. And a note to remember Eden is not always a location, it is something we can be within us where ever we may be. Loved it
So much action, suspense and emotions written in this book. I loved how certain things worked out in the story line. If you get the chance you should read all of this authors books as they are actually tied in all together, and you won't be disappointed! I received a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it.
This whole series took me back in time, when I was obsessed with “Divergent” and “Hunger Games.” It truly felt very nostalgic for me and I loved every moment! 😭🤍
3.5 I loved the first two book but the story just went a frustrating way with this one. I will say I was happy enough with it by the end but I felt the main character made silly choices in this book. Ones that didn’t make sense to me for most of the plot from the last two books. I felt she turn much more complacent in this book which for me was a disappointment. But in the end it got better. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I won’t say what it was that disappointed me. Still I really enjoyed this series and would definitely recommend it as a good dystopian series that is free on audible.
I devoured this book eagerly. I love the world & the characters, all off which were developed further. I loved it and will miss the journey.
This book &series was/is especially interesting because it is SO plausible. It's easy to believe, especially the way it's written. Easy to become wrapped up in the characters' world & lives.
It wraps up the series; BUT - It ends quickly- like the author was in a hurry or a deadline was approaching... All loose ends tucked in, but it happened so fast that it was anti-climactic. I read this series and loved it all but the end portion makes me feel like I missed out.
Still a fun and exciting read. Still, unexpected- and by now some expected drama intrigue and excitement. Still characters in a world I can really envision but hope to never see!
A good end to a fantastic series- just- a note dear author: you can't wrap up a trio series in a few pages. It leaves your reader feeling unfulfilled and a bit underwhelmed, like this great world and these characters are gone without a proper goodbye.
The last installment of the trilogy to the Original, and it was really well written. In Escape from Eden McClellan gave us Jurassic park vibes, in this one, we have Nazi Germany gas chamber vibes with harsh ruling over the people who have almost entirely given up on their freedom.
The story has a dark side that has you praying for the safety of all the characters and unfortunately not all of them make it, going down like the soldiers they had been.
McClellan done a great job of making her characters have depth and quirks, and though the romance became a bit tedious the story remained strong and in ways the romance helped show the progress of how certain characters changed through the story.
a good little trilogy that had a decent female protagonist! really enjoyed, if I had written these reviews earlier they would have been more filled out with better remembered points which i enjoyed and disliked but I have been to busy.
I did really enjoy this book, yet for some reason by this third book I was over the series. As I said in the prior reviews the characters and the "primes" and the "junks" that this author created was so well done. I felt this third book did tie all together but it was also just a CONSTANT same war and same outcome of the "institute"
I will remind myself for my review the ending to the story: Ebony-the institutes leader is dead and the war is won in that area Colt takes Sage and her brother, Max along with Jenna to their childhood home in Maine. Sage is still a "Prime" and thinks she will die soon.
Her Father and Mother come and bring her meds. She finds out her Mother was able to get some medicine that reverses the effects if you become a "super prime"
Sage's mother can only stay a few days as she is taken away to be tried for her crimes against Originals. We also find out that Sage's mother and Rafe had a relationship.
Interesting age old discussion about ruling through fear or respect. People will give their lives for you if they respect you and believe in what they are fighting for. If they only fear you they will run at the first sign of a threat to their own life. Great leaders inspire and do not lead through fear or domination. Both side of this war had leaders who were not fighting for the people but had their own interests at heart. Colt and Sage were altruistic but she was misled and the consequences would be life altering. Family is definitely complicated and Sage has parents on both sides of the war so there will be fallout as war catches up with them. Anyone who likes a good Dystopian series with some tough battle scenes, a touch of romance, some bromance moments and a fight to change the world then thus is the series for you.
Honestly ended up enjoying this series waaaay more than I anticipated. It just hit that spot for teenage scifi/dystopian loving me. And although it’s not the best written in terms of some of the relationships both romantic and platonic. I felt the plot was seriously good to me and I had some visceral reactions to certain parts/reveals. The main character is beloved to me. She doesn’t just sit back and let people dictate what’s what. She questions and gets an answer. I enjoyed reading her. The ending was bittersweet and quite a good way to go about it. I’m glad things ended up the way they did.
With Max and Colt still being held by the Institute, Sage is desperate to get them back. So when the leader of the Western resistance shows up and offers her a deal she can’t refuse, she eagerly accepts. Finally, she is in a position where she can exact revenge on Ebony and the Institute, while also save the people she loves. But the deal she made comes with a steep price, and now she only has so much time to fulfill her end of the bargain.
This book was fast paced and tense throughout. There were some very unlikable characters but luckily they were meant to be. This was a good end to the trilogy and I enjoyed reading it.
Saving Eden is the final installment to The Original trilogy and let me just say- this one definitely takes you for a ride. It starts off with Sage doing her best to prepare for the oncoming war while trying to figure out how to get her brother and her lover back. There are a few new members of the cast and they're written perfectly! I loved every second of it and not a single page felt like it was dragging on. Out of the three, I will say that Escape to Eden was my favorite but Saving Eden is a VERY close second!
Despite the Rambo like fighting, this final part of the series turns into an all out war with new powers taking over, the power hungry are seeping into the Hope foundation.
Sage engages in all manner of battles. Jenna becomes less annoying finally.
The end of this saga feels like a true end with hope but not every end tied up in a bow which is a relief.
Overall a good dystopian trilogy for the YA set and unique.
For those who want to listen to the whole series free… books one and two are available on audible plus and the third is free on hoopla.
I did give it a 5 star however, there is a lot of blood in this one. That doesn't bother me, but it may bother others a lot! Be aware. I enjoyed this book in the series, however, it feels open to fourth book. It doesn't feel finished, which makes me think anther is coming. It could be the end and just leaves it open to show life continues. It was intense and kept me at the edge of my seat. I love the building relationships and sad so many die. Despite all that it has a great moral and I enjoyed it.
I love how the author tells the story of her heroine in this story; making her seem like the average person who answered the call of the cause only for the cause. This final book in the trilogy is a great ending to a wonderful story. It is nice and refreshing for a book about o have an actual ending instead of a "end with the hopes of something else to. Are more money". Excellent craft and storytelling in all three books!
Definitely worth the wait! I read the first two books and felt like I had to wait an eternity for this one. It is so flawlessly written. Loved it and loved the ending. I was actually teary eyed for a minute there! I love books that are so well written that I am emotionally involved. Great job Rachel McClellan! I look forward to more books from you.
Nonstop action with characters you can't help but fall in love with! I actually cried reading this book! It takes seriously great writing to get the reader to feel that strongly! I've read several of this author's series, and thus far loved them all!! Please never stop writing!
If you like The Hunger Games and Divergent then this will blow your mind! If there are any intelligent people left in Hollywood...that’s debatable...they will run, not walk, at the chance to make this into a movie.
I feel in love with these characters and the story stays with you long after you’ve closed the book.
I've never read anything like this and I could not put it down. I loved the characters and the changes in them as the story progressed. But I think the real reason I loved this book is, while it may not seem to be at first glimpse, it is a story of love and hope. Eden is not a place but a feeling.
Five stars for all the action and the love and loss that happens in war. Also the horror of death plus what keeps those who fight the good fight HOPE! All the characters you love and the ones you don't all are well developed! Thank you Rachel for your talent!
A lot more heavy on the violence and war, we kind of lose Sage's character a bit as she takes the next step on her journey, but this book ties together a lot of things from the previous two and we see old faces, memories and activities. Not my favourite book as some parts are a bit rushed but a good storyline overall and a nice hooked ending 😜
Wow! This series is absolutely amazing. I was looking for a good dystopian series and this was it. I loved all 3 books so much and all were just as good as eachother. And this book was the first to make me ever cry at a book. Wow!. This is my first 5 star series in a long time and I'm sure to treasure the series deeply. :)
I really enjoyed the book, if you’re not a fan of war and gore then there is a chunk that will be hard to get through. It was that way for me but I knew I had to finish and had to know how most things wrapped up. I do like that some got left to my imagination as well.
I LOVED this series. Very much a thriller which is not normally my style but I couldn’t put this down. I am sad that the ending didn’t get more details (like I really wanted max to get healed) or maybe we could have seen a look into the future life of Sage and Colt but I would recommend this to anyone!

I liked this book a lot. She does a great job writing action scenes, and even though I don't always agree with character choices, I understand their motivations. I do wish we got some resolution for Max, but at the same time it makes more sense not to have everything all wrapped up in a bow at the end. Overall I really enjoyed this series, and I would read this author again.
This story from the beginning has been a refreshingly new spin on super naturals,u really enjoy Rachel's writing . I have read a couple of her series and u have lived them all.
