When sixteen year old Paskagankee High School student Jake Beebe finds what appears to be a book of magic tricks hidden away inside a long-forgotten barn, he’s instantly fascinated.
The book is clearly old, bound in dried-out, cracked leather and covered with bizarre symbology featuring unnatural, disturbing animal images: a capering horned goat. A beady-eyed crow’s head atop a horse’s body.
Jake immerses himself in the book, and almost immediately it is all he can think about. But when he decides to attempt some of tricks contained inside the volume, the boy unwittingly calls forth an entity as ancient as time itself.
It is evil. It is relentless. And it is unstoppable.
And once again Mike McMahon and Sharon Dupont find themselves facing off against a supernatural being determined to bring chaos and suffering and death to the tiny village of Paskagankee, Maine…

When he decides to attempt another spell, he accidentally calls forth an evil entity as old as time. And once again Mike McMahon and Sharon Dupont find themselves facing off against a supernatural being determined to bring chaos and death to the tiny village of Paskagankee, Maine. Easily one of the best books of its kind in years.

What an incredibly intense book. I am a big fan of this series, and I like how each story is so different from the next. This story was quite dark, dealing with the possibility of demon possession. Each time Jake appeared in the story, I found myself almost holding my breath, waiting to see what he would do. The characters were great and easy to become attached to, and the storyline was tight and enjoyable. This was a quick read for me, as I had to find out how the story was resolved. Now I am already looking forward to the next book!
I have read all 4 of the books in this series and with the exception of book 2 each book has gotten better then the previous books. This book being the best of the series and one that could easily stand on it's own. While book two fell into the trap of repeating the backstory of the two main characters over and over book three stayed away from that trap for the most part and by book 4 the Author wasted very little time with the backstory of the two main characters and focuses on writing a very enjoyable book.
This one kept me on the edge of my seat till the end! If I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about what would happen next. Great characters, vivid descriptions and lots of twists and turns.
I have read all of the books in the Paskagankee series so far and have really enjoyed them. Lots of supernatural and evils things happen in Paskagankee. I wonder what will happen next!
