Gio_Graphy: Fun in the Wild World of Fashion

Rate this book
Combining the stylish inspiration of Chloe Sevigny and Carine Roitfeld with the accessibility of Parisian Chic, this is a fun, intimate book of fashion ideas and inspiration by a popular international style star.
Dubbed a -cyber icon- and -fashion heroine- by the New York Times, Italian fashion editor and stylist Giovanna Battaglia is known for her colorful street style and fun-loving personality. Her monthly column in W chronicles fashion, art, and adventure. In this, her first book, she has written an irreverent how-to guide for dressing for every occasion, finding fashion inspiration, living stylishly, and having fun while doing it.
Covering style and beauty for daytime, nighttime, travel, and work, this book is brimming with chic and inspirational wisdom, from how to pull off bold fashion moves like barely-there tops, enormous hats, and powerful reds; advice for how to survive fashion emergencies (like what happens when you show up to an event in the same dress as someone else); and her secrets for donning multiple outfits in a day (bodysuits are key). Also featured are tips and tricks she has learned from fashion-world friends such as Carolina Herrera, Derek Blasberg, Hamish Bowles, and Anna Dello Russo. Filled with humor and style, this is a must-have book for anyone interested in fashion and having a good time.

The party tip she gives to just take a roll of toilet paper from the club's bathroom and unspool it throughout the club.....................................like that's a new level of privilege.

Don’t buy this book. Author is very bigoted and xenophobic. She regularly posts very anti-American content on her IG, with zero criticism towards other countries including her own, Italy. She is a nasty person who is prejudice. The shallow glamour doesn’t mask her ugliness. Don’t give this person any more money.

I read this book in the middle of the night and LOVED it.

Giovanna Battaglia (or@bat_gio on Instagram) has style, attitude and panache.

She is gorgeous, and would look amazing in a paper sack - BUT it's her wonderful sense of style and fun that sets her apart.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any (wanna-be) fashionista!

3+ I'm usually not a fan of on books on style: I love the topic, but books just don't seem the right medium for it. Battaglia's book is lovely, though, I've always liked her attitude and her very specific mix of elegance and fun.
