Violet Knight is tired of men hooking up with her for her money.
She caught the latest loser pants-down and rump-up one week before the wedding. Now she’s upgraded her honeymoon cruiseship for a pampering space-cruise that caters to females only. That’s exactly what her burnt heart needs. A hunky serviceman whose job is to worship the female patronage aboard the month-long trip. Little does she know a pampering space-cruise ship looks awfully similar to a mail-order bride ship.
Cadoc of Docadia finds the girl he’s always dreamed about all grown up and looking to be a bride. To his surprise, she asks him to stay the night. But consummating their relationship comes with a small problem. Turns out she’s the tiny female he rescued all those years ago. Now he has to tell her they’ve been mated.
Born and raised in Ontario, C. L. Scholey developed her passion for writing through her love of reading books as a child. Her first book was contracted in Oct 2009 the very same month her first grand son was born. C. L. Scholey still lives in Ontario, in a rural community with her husband and daughter.
From the author: Hello, I'm Connie! Now that we've met how about I tell you a little about me? I love to write, it's like having a super power.
I was born and raised in Ontario...yes I'm Canadian, no I don't live in an igloo, no I've never pet a polar bear, but I have run into a few black bears, seen wolves, moose, coyotes and I think there's a hundred pound squirrel in my attic.
I spend as much time as I can get away with looking for rocks in Bancroft. When I'm not in Bancroft I live in a small town, so people know me when they see me. Some ask me what I'm working on--some even ask me in a regular voice not a whisper.
I get bored easily, it's why one day I'll be working on assassins, the next Sci-fi, then Vikings, then vampires, then planning world domination--wait, what?
Moving on. I love animals and we have a dog, 120p mastiff. He's great with the kids and careful around them, but he'd run me over for a piece of bologna. Otherwise he loves us.
If you want to get to know me better join me on FB or twitter. Right now I need to change back into a mom, it's my best super power.
A seemingly seemingly not so smart, whiny h who quickly transforms into a smart kickass one!
Human female and Alien male romance. This is a romance with planetary political intrigue as well as interplanetary betrayals and conspiracies between a villainous Earthling (the h's ex) and creepy serpent-like aliens trying to capture human females to use as broodmares and slaves. The Docadian H comes from a planet that reveres females and protects them.
This story starts with the h catching her human fiancé in a compromising position (getting it on with another woman), just weeks before the wedding. Se breaks the engagement and changes their honeymoon space cruise to a spa/pampering space cruise for one. But, notbeing able to read the language at the space cruise terminal, and not asking for assistance, she boards the wrong ship. Instead she boards a bridal ship, where the women aboard have agree to meet alien men from other planets with the intent of choosing a mate. The H's spaceship is in the vicinity and notices another ship nearby that is cloaked and so suspects mal-intent. He materializes on the Bridal ship to check things out and meets the h. They have history from when she was a young child and he recognizes her from her black hair and her grey eyes, but she doesn't recognize him...he was a young boy of 12 and thin at the time and she was a frightened child of only 3.
Up to this point, I thought the h was kind of stupid and whiny! But after the Bridal ship gets boarded by the serpentine aliens who are trying to kidnap the women, and they are saved by the H and his men who take them aboard their Docadian ship, she seems to go through a transformation! With each crises she gets stronger and in the end she kicks ass!
So while I didn't think I was going to enjoy this in the beginning (dumb h), it turned out to be pretty good with a kick as s H. A solid 3.5 stars, because the h started out whiny & stupid and some of the aliens were a little fafetched....but..oh well...they were aliens! LOL!
This was surprisingly good. I was looking for a light and fluffy read, but what I got was an action packed sci-fi romance with strong characters and an actual plot! I felt engaged from the very beginning, there was never a dull moment. The premise of the story was that Violet accidentally got on a mail order bride ship after she broke off her engagement with her cheating fiance. There she met Cadoc, who happened to port on the ship (because he felt a connection to violet and there was a believable backstory to it). And the action started soon after from there. Adventure to an unknown planet, making good friends and creating relationships. There was mysteries involving Violet's kidnapping and who betrayed the Daconians.
This book wasn't a full length novel but it definitely felt like one with all the actions going on. So give this a try if you are a fan of sci-fi outer world romance and but don't have the time to read a full length novel.
I wanted to like this sooo much! It fell kind of flat for me. I truly wasn't expecting a comedy. And the comedy didn't really do it for me. No laugh out loud moments. The story was fast paced and I had a hard time keeping up with who was who, and which alien was which.
The main lady, Violet, was just wonderful. Totally an empowered female, a real fighter. She doesn't just lay down and let life roll over her. She stands up for herself and her man repeatedly. So she was nice. And the main guy, Cadoc, is like the personification of a "doting on his female" warrior. His entire planet revolves around being a warrior and taking care of the females. He was sweet. A bit too much sweet for me, but Violet sure liked him.
The modern day vernacular was distracting. I don't know, this had all the parts to make me love it, and I didn't. Give it a try, I would recommend this book. It just wasn't for me.
Violet has had an extraordinary life and she refuses to waste any more of it on her cheating ex. She decides to go on a "pamper" cruise but instead gets on the wrong ship. When she finds out it's a Galaxy Brides cruise she figures she can still have a little fun. Cadoc has been dreaming about his little "flower" since the first time he saw then rescued her in his manhood trial. When he's told that there's a cloaked ship trailing a cruise vessel he and his crew investigate. And that's where the adventure begins! This book was a very pleasant surprise. Violet and Cadoc are meant to be together and while it Sci-Fi it's also an inter-planetary romance. Plenty of action and steam and a lot of laughs! (Jilly is hilarious) HEA and I hope this is the start of a series.
Let me just start with I loved when Violet saved her dude. I love a book where the couple saves each other! Everyone should believe in themselves but accept help when needed and the changes to this world because of the human's presence would be fascinating to read more of. I thought it was cool. But Violet needed more butt-kicking scenes! I kinda loved Cadoc. He was cool and I loved his open-mindedness. I do wonder how someone so strong and confident as Violet ever believed her ex was anything other than after her money. There were a few things like that that did not add up but overall a fun read.
2.5 Another book I got for free on the 'stuff your kindle day' Ended up skim reading just to get it finished. It's not terrible, but the plot was weak as was any world building. I found myself really not caring about the characters or what happened to them and there was no chemistry between the two main characters. Was disappointed by the lack of rage in the FMC. You catch your fiancé cheating one week from the wedding and you feel nothing? At all? And as much as I usually ignore a cover, the terrible 90s headband and ridiculous sword were just distracting. I cringed every time I picked it up.
I just completely lost interest when he started his inner monolog about what pleasuring other females was like. He started "learning" as soon as he was old enough, and he had sex with MANY women. He'd been dreaming of the h since he was a kid, cause they met briefly back then. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't want to read about H dreaming of h while banging everything in sight. Just not for me.
It was a good story. I realized the characters. Even Jilly the AI! I like my males strong, possessive, and smart. These were. I like my females smart, definitely not whiney, or needy. These were smart, had strength of character, with a touch of innocence. For me, it was a great read.
Truly a fantastic twist on a futuristically set novel. LOVED the twist on his magic powers and how the men protect their mates! Would recommend this book to anyone who loves a strong male and female lead, hot and sexy love scene, parts that will make you laugh, and a man who backs his mates decisions! You won't regreat grabbing this book for yourself!
I loved this storyline. Violet catches her fiancee cheating and cancels the wedding. She trades her honeymoon cruise for a singles cruise, but gets on a bride ship. The back n forth between timeframes was a bit much, but it explains a lot and is done well. I really like how in the end, it is the women who are strong and save the day.
Kidnapped at three years of age and caged A lunatic leader wants you dead This adventure takes you on a wild ride, So buckle up for this action-packed tale
I was going to read this for an easy to follow short trashy sci-fi romance story but I was surprised. It had a few really steamy scenes in it (Especially when Violet thinks Cadoc was a pleasure bot. ). It also had a pretty good story to it.
Holy crap, that was a lot of beaming around. I’m dizzy from it, and I’m sure that baby is scrambled by now. By the way, you might want to do a little research on reproduction and gestation, especially timing.
Really enjoyed this. The characters were great and interesting. The plot was unique and I liked that the female characters in the book were all strong minded and determined. Lovely ending too.
So, this is my first fantasy love story with aliens. I was so confused, based on the description, I thought it was a contemporary love story, cover told me it's SCI-FI. First chapter was really well written, I was hooked, but when all the robots and aliens came, I was so confused. I had to reread some parts, I didn't understand all the story. I liked Cadoc and Violet- he's very noble, sweet, she's a badass, powerful.
I didn't like battle scenes, but I liked all the other people involved. Especially Jilly, the robot. :)
This will have you turning the pages to see what happens next and the action never stops as well as the developing relationships between her wonderfully portrayed characters. The secondary characters add plenty to the developing storyline and I look forward to their own unique situations. Plenty of steamy, emotionally charged moments that shows protective, possessive ,caring and loving TOO! I'm SO RECOMMENDING THAT YOU HAVE THIS TERRIFIC BOOK BY RENA MARKS AND TOTALLY ENJOY IT WITH ME!
Two stars may be generous. This book was a hot mess. The plot really wasn't supported by anything actually going on, and the characters were so basic and indistinct. I can barely remember what happened here. There were so many things that didn't make sense in this story, and I mean, major things that were so distracting; I'm not expecting a work of art when talking about space alien romances so when I keep being distracted with: "Wait, what?" "But why, though?" etc., it just takes all the fun out of a story where that is really it's only purpose. Couldn't wait for this one to just be over.
A heroine that kicks as much butt as the hero does. Absolutely excellent. A world of warriors find flowers that give do much more than just sweet aroma
Loved the spin on bride ship taking women to meet a future mate , only one got on the wrong ship. Tattoos that are weapons , flying clouds , please please continue this story :)
This was 3 1/2 stars for me. I liked the story, Cadoc and Violet. It was just missing something. Cadoc is an alpha warrior but also sweet. Violet doesn't let anyone walk all over her. One thing that did irritate me is telling us that she had taken self defense classes since she was 3 and then she doesn't use any of it, not until the end and it was to protect Cadoc. There were times that words or phrases didn't translate but the alien warriors used current earth words and phrases even though this is set in the future. Not a big deal, it briefly pulled me out of the story though. I would read more in this world.
