Life has a way of teaching us lessons that we are not ready to learn. For Robert Guliani, an athletic sixteen year old, a simple dive into the ocean left him paralyzed and wheelchair bound. Words cannot express the admiration I have for Robert Guliani. His courage, strength and dedication to “Never Quit” are awe inspiring.
I kept asking myself, would I have the courage to go on? Would I be able to not hate life? I just don’t know if I could before, but I’m confident that after reading his story, I will never quit no matter what life might throw in my path. Thank you Robert!
Narration was very good!

Robert Guliani’s personal story is so much more than an account of what went wrong when, at sixteen, a diving accident put him in a wheelchair. The subtitle, “A story of perseverance and love,” is a theme he carries out with wit, honesty, love and faith, recounting both the depths and the heights of a life being lived well and fully. From heartbreak to victory, his story cycles as most lives do, but Robert does not dwell in discouragement. He quickly takes the reader along on a ride that spans a lifetime of learning and growth, loving and accomplishment. I couldn’t help but cheer him and his wife Lydia on. It was a pleasure reading his well-written book and I highly recommend it to anyone.

It is amazing to see how much the author actually had to go through in his life. So many difficulties he has had along with living his life in a wheelchair. I really enjoyed listening about his life. I know firsthand what a happy person that he is and reading this was definitely uplifting and inspirational. I am glad to hear he ended up near the ocean and has a beautiful view every day and that Nydia is still as great a person as when I knew her. I was disappointed that Rob wasn’t the actual reader of the audio version, but the reader was really good!

An easy read. He gives a good description about his injury, career, and obstacles he has had to overcome. So glad he has found comfort in his retirement.

Robert Guliani did a wonderful job in conveying his perseverance in coming back from spinal cord injury at the age of 16. As a fellow Syosset alum, this book intrigued me in knowing more about this man and how he overcame the bitterness I expected he would have had at having his young life altered so drastically and abruptly. But what I found was that his sarcastic wit, one I'm very familiar with as a fellow Long Islander/New Yorker, was ever present as he survived both his initial hospital stays and his time in rehab. It's almost as if his sharp humor was a bit of a savior to him and those around him during those early difficult days.

I loved how Guliani gave us both pre and post accident, engaging us with stories from his youth and the oft-times incorrigible ways he acted. His flirty nature never wavered even as he was confined to a wheelchair, showing the world that he hadn't really changed all that much despite how his body might now act. He doesn't take himself too seriously and that gift definitely saw him through the truly tough times of this extraordinary life.

I enjoyed watching him succeed in both the business world and in his personal life. He is tenacious and never gave up when he might have been wronged or had a difference of opinion. Guliani definitely has a bit of his father, the original alpha dog as he called him, in his blood and that served him well. The love of his life, his beautiful and devoted wife, seems to be his perfect match and I'm thrilled he seems to be very happy with her and their life together.

You can't help but admire his determination to simply live and do it the very best way he can, no matter what. Most in his position might dwell on the negative but Guliani has a spirit in him that is addictive and downright exceptional. I would love to read more from Guliani, hoping he gives us future books that might give even more perspective into his very interesting journey. It's far from over and I know he has many more tales to tell and I'll be here to read them when he's ready.

Never Quit is a great title for this book. Robert Guliani, at the age of 16 was handed a severe blow, being paralyzed from the neck down after a dive into the ocean at Towbay beach on Long Island. He regained some use of his arms. At this time, there was no American Disability Act so when the school board (at first) tells him he can't come back to school, his dad springs into action and lets them know under no uncertain terms, that his son WILL attend school come the fall. It's quite a moment.

Mr. Guliani struggled, then triumphed in joining the workforce, constantly fighting the forces that seemed to want to shove him to the corners of society. He would calmly tell his employers what his needs were and probably because he was such a great employee, modifications were made for him so he could do his work. There are quite a few medical setbacks in his life and he keeps you on the edge of your seat, fighting for breath along with him.

His outlook on life is amazing, considering what it could have been and he's always willing to help others. What I really liked about this story was the love of his family, especially his wife, and how they all stuck together through thick and thin. His story is inspirational and the narration by Ben Werling is great. Parts of the book were a little slow for me because I am not that interested in his career choice, coding and computers, but again, his story of perseverance more than makes up for that.
