Speechless at just how breathtaking this book really is. From the first few pages, I had a feeling that I was reading something special, and was I progressed through the book I was more and more impressed with each page.

I was drawn into the story of Lizzie, Samantha and Jaddi, and their reasons for wanting to spend a summer travelling the world. You will learn they are all hiding things from each other despite being best friends, and although as a reader you are privy to a couple of the secrets, there is at least one that no matter how much I tried to predict it, I was wrong. And I am so glad that I was, as it made for a far more shocking conclusion to the book.

Our Endless Summer features travel in South East Asia, Australia and America, and I loved so many of the experiences that are described. But what really struck me was Lizzie, and her attitude to everything. She is an inspirational character, and is central to everything, as the trip is in her honor.

There are certain moments that will definitely stick in the mind, such as Lizzie's reasoning for wanting to see as many sunsets and sunrises as possible, and the story of one of her hospital stays while she was 9 years old. I loved seeing how different the three friends were, and just how their relationship changes while on their travels.

One Endless Summer is in theory as story that should be incredibly sad, after all Lizzie only has three months to live, but although it has been written with plenty of beautifully expressed emotions, the story is inspiring and also thought provoking.

I'm really struggling with this review as there are things I'd love to wax lyrical about, but I don't want to spoil the experience of reading this for yourself. All I can say at this point is if you decide to take a chance on this book, it is an absorbing read, and at the same time, a surprisingly quick book, so I'd suggest making sure you have a good chunk of time in which to read it one go.

One Endless Summer is a fabulously written book with a mix of laughs, tender moments, emotion, friendship, huge life altering decisions, against a backdrop of exotic locations which just adds to the flavour of the book, all of which meant I never wanted to the put my kindle down. It's a story, or at least there is a message from the book that I hope to keep with me for a long time.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and HQ for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I know I keep saying this, BUT, I am so glad that I tend to avoid reading the blurbs of novels before I read them. I have just read the blurb for Laurie Ellingham’s book; if I had read it before I started reading, I would have been a tad miffed as it gives a little too much away for my liking. I chose this book to read because of the three sentences on the front cover; ‘Three best friends. Three continents. Three months to live.’. Those words (and the beautiful cover itself), were enough to make me go and buy this book for myself. Why? Because Laurie Ellingham has written the type of book that needs to be left to do the talking, it needs to speak for itself. The magic needs to be read in the moment…and not before.

‘One Endless Summer’ pulled me in by my heart-strings nion straight away; there was absolutely nothing I could do to prepare myself for any eventuality within the storyline. Lizzie, Jaddi and Samantha are three completely different women in terms of personalities and beliefs. One thinks with her heart, one thinks with her head and the other one leaves decisions to ‘fate’. I’m sure you can guess how problematic that would have been!

It didn’t take me long to focus on Lizzie’s story and everything else that went with it, including the camera man. Now, because my mind was focused on Lizzie’s hurdles, when another character was involved in a secretive situation, it completely caught me off guard. I had assumed that this storyline was going to centre around one circumstance in particular, so when the storyline spread its wings and took various different paths all at once, goosebumps covered my body from head to toe.

To be able to write a storyline containing several shocking situations involving most of the characters, as well as being able to maintain the high level of suspense and intensity, really does take a considerable amount of talent – Laurie Ellingham has done exactly that. Outstanding.

Throughout the entire novel it felt as though every time I turned the page, there was going to be even more shocking events, or rifts between characters, or something else utterly unexpected and bewildering. It most certainly kept my on my toes, but let’s just say that my emotions were becoming even more difficult to control.

As I said above, I assumed that this storyline was going to follow one path from start to finish, it didn’t; I am so, so glad that my assumption was incorrect as ‘One Endless Summer’ just kept on giving.

It’s incredibly difficult to write a vague review for a book that I adored, as all I want to do is go ‘OMG! Did you read the part where….’, and I can’t say anything along those lines.

All I can say really is that your own eyes need to read this mind-blowing, enchanting, heart-breaking, moving, spell-binding and emotional novel. I have never, EVER read a book like ‘One Endless Summer’; to be honest, I hope that I never read another book like it because it really is one of a kind. In my eyes, it’s going to take something completely flawless (of a similar genre) to be able to knock Laurie Ellingham’s book off my favourites list.

Words cannot describe how much I loved ‘One Endless Summer’, it really is THAT beautiful as well as thousands of other adjectives. Laurie Ellingham has blown my mind with this phenomenal storyline that’s for sure!

‘One Endless Summer’ is one of my MUST READ books of 2017 without a doubt. It’s also a book that will stay in my heart for a very, very long time.

After coming off the back of a very serious and emotional read, “One Endless Summer” was just the tonic I needed. Despite the main topic of Lizzie living out her last three months after a lifelong battle with cancer, it is actually very light-hearted and enormously entertaining as well.

The storyline is really good. Three best friends off on the trip of a lifetime to spend Lizzie’s final three months travelling around the world. The only catch is that it’s being funded by a TV company who want to film every thing for a weekly show.

Clearly the constant filming leads to a bit of friction and also resentment, often aimed at poor cameraman Ben.

I really enjoyed the fact that Lizzie has had enough of all the serious part of dealing with her tumour and is determined to spend her last three months having fun and living a dream. Yes, there are some sad parts but mostly the story is upbeat and that makes it a fun read.

Jaddi and Samantha, the two friends accompanying Lizzie on the trip, both have secrets which we discover during their travels. If they thought they were close friends before, their bond is about to get even stronger.

The author very cleverly introduces all the fakeness of the TV show who are more concerned with ratings and viewing figures. The way in which she writes about this almost makes you squirm thinking how awful some people can be - seeing a situation and taking advantage of it.

There is a twist at the end. To reveal that would spoil the story but it is a reminder that life doesn’t always turn out the way we think.

The book also provides a bit of a shock factor to the ending and one which also serves as a reminder to live our lives as well as we can while we are here. A reminder not to keep putting off what you really want out of life.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun and entertaining read and also had a poignant message at the end.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book and have given my honest opinion of it.

I went into this story expecting it to go a certain way, but was totally blown away when it went a took a different turn. I was left wanting a lot more, but that's not a bad thing. I feel like there is so much more to find out about the characters and I'd love to read more about them in the future.

The idea is one which is so relevant right now with all of the reality television shows sprouting up worldwide. People want to watch, and read, real life stories about ordinary people, as well as extraordinary ones. This book taps into this need. The author manages to capture the intrusive nature of those working in the industry as well as giving the reader a heartwarming story of three friends going on the trip of a lifetime.

There are highs and lows throughout, along with a lot of hilarity. The characters are all written extremely well and they all have their own voices within the story. The author gives us a deeper insight into their lives, allowing us to understand what has motivated them to travel with each other in the way they do.

There are a few twists in the story, and I honestly wasn't expecting them at all. That is a sign of a good story, however, as you are left not knowing what will happen next.

I read this book in one sitting and am grateful to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

I loved this book. I knew it was going to be a tear jerker based on the blurb- but there is so much more to the story. It's in turn humourous and heartbreaking. Three friends decide to go travelling when Lizzie's brain tumour has proved resistant to the latest round of treatment. She wants to live a little and they plan the most wonderful 90 days touring three continents.

My niece is currently touring India with an organised tour for youngsters and it had that feel about it. I have loved seeing my nieces posts on instagram and facebook- and have felt a little of the excitement yet nerves of the adventure through her eyes. The book gave me the same sense of being taken along for a wonderful adventure with three friends.

They are all keeping secrets from each other- we never know everything about those we love.

I love sunrises and sunsets - and they feature in the book and Lizzie's explanation of why they are important for her to savour will stay with me a long while.

I loved the friendship and romance throughout the book- and the fact that it kept me drawn deep within the pages, lost in my own dreams of travelling the world.

An interesting take on living life to the fullest - from living your dreams to not hiding your hopes and fears from your closest friends. Faced with documenting her last three months via the medium of a TV show, there are many opportunities for funny episodes for Lizzie, Jaddie and Samantha plus cameraman Ben.

There was far more depth to this story than I was initially expecting but this lends both sincerity and authenticity to the story. It's not all sweetness and light, there are some darker moments too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, particularly the travel elements.

I absolutely loved this innovative and truly original story about three friends travelling the world. Lizzie, Jaddi and Samantha all have their own hidden secrets and reasons for embarking upon the holiday of a lifetime, even if they are going to be filmed 24/7 for a reality television show. I loved this story from beginning to end and was so sad when it ended.

From the book's blurb you might be fooled into thinking that this will be a depressing read about a young woman on holiday with her two best friends, making the most of things with only three months to live. But, don't be fooled into thinking that this is what the book is all about, because it isn't. This is a remarkable book, in that it is incredibly uplifting, not depressing in the least, in fact there are many funny moments, and segments of the book that are particularly thoughtful in terms of its portrayal of a young woman with terminal cancer. The author has got the balance just right, in explaining what life is like for Lizzie, while at the same time not allowing the cancer to take over her unique character.

I loved all of the characters in this book. All different, all likeable in different ways and all with their own unique story to tell. The main story obviously revolves around Lizzie, as the reason they are on an all expenses paid holiday, curtsey of the television production company, is because she only has three months to live. This is her story. From the moment I met her on the page, I had an instant understanding of who she was and what she was about. I connected most with her. Jaddi, is the best friend who is opinionated, forthright and the organiser. She is the one that they all look to for guidance. But as the story unfolds, her true character is revealed, and when her true colours are revealed , I liked her even more. Lastly we have Samantha, and for me, it did take a lot longer for me to 'get her', but when I did, I also really liked her. For me, her secret was the hardest to swallow, and one that was hard to digest.

The plot of One Endless Summer is fast, twisty and at times it left me breathless, as I was swept along with the girls as they flew from one country to the next. I must admit that I also fell a little bit in love with Ben, the cameraman, who accompanied the girls on their travels. A gentle giant, whom I knew we would learn more about as the story unfolded. I think that we all need a Ben in our lives.

One Endless Summer is a story about loss, friendship, secrets but ultimately the root of this book is embedded in love. It truly is a fascinating read and one that I feel is the perfect summer read. I enjoyed this book immensely, it was such a treat to read, and I look forward to reading more by Laurie Ellingham.

3.5 stars, engaging good read with some great reflection on life.
While the topic was heavy, the story itself was more upbeat than it could have been written, so it wasn't too emotional and sad. It flowed quickly and I liked the three girls and their friendship. They seemed younger than 29 though, so a little hard to relate. I felt for Lizzie and loved how each girl had their own struggles. I really loved Ben as a character. The ending felt a little over dramatic and unrealistic, but it also read out well and had a pretty decent ending. I loved all of their travel experiences and details on the places and adventures they did, but even so, I wish there was more description and deeper writing on the travels.

As another reviewer states, "There are certain moments that will definitely stick in the mind, such as Lizzie's reasoning for wanting to see as many sunsets and sunrises as possible, and the story of one of her hospital stays while she was 9 years old. "

This story was expressed in a more beautiful way to look at life, while the possibility of death hangs in the air. Very thought provoking, especially on Lizzie's choices and her path. Lots of good moments in this book, though not my favorite read, a nice touch. Some great quotes that I hope to share and reflect on.
3.5 stars, pretty good.

What a beautiful, funny, heart-breaking story! Wow, I just loved it!

You wouldn’t necessarily think that a story about a young woman dying of cancer could be heart-warming and funny and yet One Endless Summer is both of those things. It’s also evocative and tragic, so have those tissues handy.

Lizzie and her two best friends are off to see the world. They have 3 months to soak up as much life as possible as poor Lizzie has spent her 29 years in and out of treatment. Their journey is full of adventure, fun, and loads of tears but there are also secrets too. Secrets that could derail their trip of a lifetime.

Guys, I could not put this down. There I was, bleary eyed and exhausted at 1 AM, praying the 15% left on my Kobo’s battery would last until I finished the last page. Amazingly enough, my husband couldn’t hear me either laughing or crying beside him. I enjoyed this exquisitely written story so much and the end had my jaw on the floor!

I honestly can’t think of a better book to curl up with on your deck, glass of wine in hand and of course, a large box of tissues at your side lol.

Rating… A+

What a beautiful story about special friendship, loss and living life to fullest.

I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish.

Three friends embark on journey of lifetime, for one of the the last journey.

This story had everything I love, travel stories, friendship and unforgettable experiences. Many times I felt like being there with them because author created perfect picture of the scenery.

Although story is about three friends making the most of their last 3 months together, there is a lot of hidden secrets unraveling as the story progressed. Final twist left me in tears with very confused feelings, sad about what happened but proud and happy about last hope.

I don't like saying too much but pick this book up and read it yourself, it's worth it!

Terminally ill Lizzie chooses to spend the last 3 months of her life on a round-the-world trip with best friends Jaddi and Samantha. The trip is crowdfunded and followed by cameraman Ben for a TV documentary. Despite the spectre of Lizzie's imminent death, this is an easy, pleasant summer read. The travelogue element has some wonderful depictions of South East Asia, Australia and America, the characters are likeable and the romance lovely if somewhat predictable. What didn't work for me were the huge secrets such close friends are keeping from each other and I felt the story lacked depth but the story kept me absorbed to the end and I didn't expect the twist.

One Endless Summer has an original storyline which hooks the reader in from the beginning. This book is beautifully written while keeping a gripping well paced course of action and drama throughout, making it hard to put down. You'll definitely be inspired to travel when you read this book and feel like you're travelling the world alongside these characters. Excellent!

A good book

A great book - it does have some sad bits of course because of the topic of this book but there was some bits that made me smile. Their traveling and what they saw and did. I must admit I knew what was going to be the conclusion for Lizzie's character but not for Samantha's character. It's a good read!

Despite needing a box of tissues, I adored this book. Laurie Ellingham has created a very unusual novel offering fresh perspective on life. A story full of life lessons, a story that highlights the importance of friendship and getting outside of our comfort zones no matter what our circumstances... Excited to see what this wonderful author comes up with next!

Amazon told me this book was “heartwarming and uplifting” – “the perfect holiday read” it said. And do you know, I wouldn’t argue with a word of that? I loved Lizzie from her first appearance – three months to live, and so many experiences to pack into the time remaining. Her friends were wonderful, uncomplicated joy in each others’ company – but with depth and secrets beneath that were so well handled, with some real surprises.

The travelogue aspect of the book was so well done – vivid descriptions of many locations I’ve visited myself, which made it particularly fascinating – and I really liked the “reality TV” element of the story, the larger than life characters, the way the celebrity side of things sometimes made life considerably more difficult. And I particularly liked the fact that the story really didn’t unfold in the way I’d rather expected it to – there are weepy moments, but not the ones I’d rather expected, and the author handles the many different character-driven stories that make it a compelling read with tremendous aplomb.

Uplifting? Most definitely, with well drawn characters and real feelings. And did I mention that the author writes like a dream? The book is a real page turner, wonderful escapism but with a firm grounding in reality, characters you feel for and believe in. Perfect holiday reading it might be, but there was far more depth to this book than I ever expected – and it was an absolute joy to make that discovery.

The world seems to have a fascination with reality television. The stories behind the people who appear in these shows capture our imaginations and we want to know more and more about them. So the idea of a girl who uses the format to enable her to spend the last few months of her life on a dream trip with her best friends is enthralling.
Will both the production company and Lizzie get what they want from the agreement, or will one of them lose out? How will the three friends cope with living under a microscope whilst they experience the trip of a lifetime at the same time as coming to terms with Lizzie's impending death?
The story almost never takes you where you expect it to. It's an amazing journey of discovery for the friends and for the reader alike. There are tears and smiles along the way, as well as romance and intrigue. This book has everything and has left me feeling that there's a little gap in my life now that these characters are no longer part of it

Lizzie, Samantha and Jaddi have been best friends since uni and so when Lizzie who has been suffering from brain tumours all of her life finds out that this one cannot be operated on and she only has 3 months to live she wants to spend this time with her best friends travelling the world as they had planned for years......only problem is how can they pay for it!

Jaddi sets up a fundraiser on social networks and this comes to the attention of a Channel 6 program who agree to make up the shortfall as long they can be televised for the whole trip. So they start off travelling to South East Asia, Australia and the US with a couple of medical emergencies on the way - all being filmed by Ben the very serious cameraman!

Sunsets and sunrises are very important to Lizzie, and we find out the heart breaking story of why that is the case with the story about Ethan, but she certainly has a great many to chose from for her favourite.

As we follow them round the globe we find out that although they are all really close they each have a secret that they are keeping from the others and this certainly adds some twists to the story! Although this could have been a very depressing subject the story is full of fun and light moments and a great beach read.
