As Phoebe's story continues, I saw how much she's been through with those sick bastards and how much her family was ready to take the wheel and help her onto the right path.
At the previous book, Phoebe was abducted and held captive for months in a lonely bunker. But, in this book, everything is clearer and some little things still have the power to trigger those horrible memories.
Phoebe is constantly trying to let her old self be reborn, but the memories become too much for that.

"I'd gone to America broken-hearted and had come home broken everywhere."

As everyone tried to help her, there was just one person that was able to start Phoebe's healing process. He was the one to access that part of hers that she thought was dead but was trapped deep down with those memories.

"His presence was fast becoming a drug I couldn't live without."

With Beau and her family by her side, Phoebe was starting to come back to life and was close to the freedom she so much deserved from everything that happened.

In this book, the author showed mostly everything that happened to Phoebe while she was being held by those lunatics.
If you can handle dark situations, you won't have a problem but be aware of dark and triggering subjects.

Anyway, I believe this was the first book that didn't end on a breathtaking cliffhanger. I kinda missed it, even though I hate them. (go figure). I was just used to being really anxious to continue Michelle's series. But I loved it nonetheless. That sweet end just gives me hope and happiness to continue Phoebe's story.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Phoebe Reede has suffered at the hands of pure evil; has she got the strength to learn to live again? Or is the fight too much? Can anyone help her to break down her guarded walls and live again?

Firstly, I have to start by saying how amazing this series is shaping up to be. This series is worthy of a TV Series without any doubt! A film would never truly give the words that Michelle Irwin writes the full praise and justice that they deserve and even then, a TV Series would have their work, cut out for them.

This book is probably the most powerful and emotional yet. I was on a different kind of emotional rollercoaster with Physis. I knew this book would be heart breaking, I just hadn’t fully prepared myself for how heart wrenching and breathing taking this story was going to be.

Reading Phoebe’s flashbacks to the weeks of torture and hell she had endured tore at my heart, piece by piece. She was a complete shell of her former self and it was hard to see that she had a chance of ever being even a glimpse of her true self, again. Then we meet her saving grace, the man who has taken my heart by storm and secured a place there forever.

I can’t go into too many details without giving away the unique and important aspects of this story. What I can say, is that Beau proves to be even more of an outstanding and amazing man than we ever dreamed possible. He isn’t afraid to try, even when that means he could get hurt himself in the process. He has also found himself a place in the life of the Reede’s whether things pan out the way he hopes with Phoebe.

The Phoebe Reede series is unique, thrilling, exciting, heart breaking and heart-warming.

This review has taken a few days to write I’m no stranger to Michelle Irwins books i have followed the series all the way but this book just took it to a new level for Michelle.

We all know that Phoebe was taken by her Pysco ex Xavier and we all know that when she was saved by Beau and her dad that she wasn’t the same happy go lucky fun loving chick that we loved she was, Broken.

Destroyed.

Scared.

Hurt.

Cracked.

Crippled.

Crushed.

Damaged.

Fractured.

Shattered.

How does someone come back from what she has been through.

We didn’t know what she had been through at the hands of Bee, Xavier and his bible bashing mother, but through this book we go through parts of her trauma, its not for the light hearted its, Dark.

Heart breaking.

Gut wrenching.

Vile.

Sinful.

But its tasteful and beautifully written.

I’m not going to go into detail of what Phoebe has gone through I will leave that for the readers to read for themselves.

Throughout this book we watched this broken girl with so many triggers and not leaving he safe zone of her room to slowly coming out thanks to the one man who is helping bring phoebe back.

At the start Phoebe wants nothing to do with the love of her life Beau who is also completely broken from losing the one women he loves but also losing there unborn child at the mercy of the evil Bee.

Beau moves to Australia in the hopes that Phoebe will one day come back to him and in efforts to be close to her just in case she needs him.

After 8 weeks of being back at home and her family not being able to help her through Beau comes up with an idea that may help Phoebe start breaking through.

This is where she lays eyes on him for the 1st time in 8 weeks. She talk to him for a minute. This is the 1st time phoebe has spoken to anyone in other than her immediate family or her psychiatrist in 8 weeks she hasn’t even spoken to Angel her best friend her other half her soul mate, this is a massive step for Phoebe and her parents Its shows a glimpse of light at the end of the very long tunnel.

Through out the book Phoebe makes tiny steps in her recovery but is also crippled by small triggers, we loved how real this story was and that Michelle took the time to do what happen to phoebe justice in the book the story line wasn’t rushed and it played out as if it would in every day life more or less.

Michelle did an amazing job on a very touchy subject and personally think its her best book to date, i couldn’t imagine what she went through writing this book it was raw gritty and heart breaking to read but so beautifully written.

Thank you Michelle for taking on a roller coaster and bring us to our knees with the events that took place with phoebe.

5 Massive Stars

I’m going to start this review with a warning that PHYSIS is not for the faint of heart. What Phoebe endured during her three month captivity is not pretty, and you will read about most—if not all—of it in this book.

I’d gone to America broken-hearted and had come home broken everywhere.

The story takes place two months after BEASTLY, which ended with Phoebe being taken back to Australia by her father, Declan, and leaving Beau behind. At home with her family, she doesn’t feel safe and is haunted by nightmares, flashbacks and gentle touches. Most of this story is focused on Phoebe and how she’s trying to live with what happened to her, but it also showed how Phoebe’s ordeal is affecting those close to her.

I didn’t survive three months imprisonment. My body might have, but the girl I’d been was dead.

Without trying to give too much away, Beau does appear in this book and he’s still as sweet as ever. He makes his presence known to Phoebe but lets her know that any and all contact with him will be on her terms. That helped Phoebe heal more than anything else since she got home.

“I didn’t think I’d ever find anyone who I thought was worthy of my Pheebs, but he’s proven himself to be the best man for you.”

PHYSIS is told only in Phoebe’s POV and⎯I think for the first time ever⎯doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. There are still more books to come in Phoebe and Beau’s story, but for now we ended on a happy note. To be honest, I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’m so used to Michelle’s cliffhangers leaving me on the edge of my seat feeling shocked, scared or angry, that this turn of events has me nervous. Is this just the calm before the storm? I read PHYSIS in one day and I’m greatly looking forward to PHANTOM, which comes out in June.

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** Holy Cow!! And there is another one after this?? I thought this would be the end of the series, I’m so glad I was wrong! This story picks up with the struggle to live a normal life after the terrible ordeal Phoebe went through. However, she is not the only one who’s learning how to continue on with life. Her whole family is struggling as well as Beau and Angel. They all try to work together to make the process easier for Phoebe, however there are plenty of triggers along the way to makes forward motion sometimes impossible on a day by day basis. Beau has been in Australia for a little bit, living not that far from Phoebe and the family, more or less keeping an eye on her from a distance. It took a little bit for him to finally come face to face with his love. It all starts with a suggestion of her getting on the track again. This essentially starts the roller coaster ride of healing. A love between family, best friend, and lover are put to the test. Emotions will fly high, relationships will be put through the test.
This is a very emotional and realistic read. You can’t help but to feel the emotional and physical struggles yourself. You can’t help but to wish you could reach into the book and help out yourself. This is as real as it gets. Physis is written exceptionally well. The whole series is phenomenal and I cannot wait till the next book in this series comes out. I hope Beau and Phoebe will finally get what they both deserve.

How do you live through the most awful painful, ugly, and ten thousand times that description event? Especially, when before that yes you live through heartache but never this. Never this horror. A horror of horrors a woman should never experience by the hands of another. At least and especially not by choice. To each their own by for Phoebe Reede who had been kidnapped and tortured, it was not her choice.
Now the simple act of human touch we all take for granted makes her skin crawl and is a trigger for excruciating pain. A one loving, outgoing girl can now only believe it would have been better to die at the hands of her one-time friend.
Now it was a matter of fighting her way through the much and seeing if there was anything left of that sassy, ball busting, risk taking race car driver she used to be and reforming into a much wiser street smarts edgier woman who one day could like herself, forgive herself and move on.
This book is not for lightweights this is a graphically detailed account of trauma this character has gone through at the hands of three monsters. But like an onion, it is peeled back in short bits in order took not over tax the reader I’m sure. Yet, true to what a trauma victim would go through.
Can Phoebe and Beau Miller find their way back to one another? Does he hold the key to help her find her way out of the hell she finds herself pulled under? Or does she have to scratch her way out on her own if he goes back to America? Angel, I still don’t trust her. I give this book 5 stars. This book was provided by the author for an honest review.

This is book four in the Phoebe Reede series and you do need to read the first three books, as this can not be read as a stand alone. **This review may also have some spoilers from the earlier books.** As with this entire series, this is not a light and easy read.

Phoebe has been through a terrible ordeal and the way the author writes about the aftermath feels very realistic. She doesn’t have that quick fix or a blink of the eye everything is coming up rainbows. Also, it is not just Phoebe that has to deal with this aftermath, but her family along with Angel and Beau, too. They are going through issues, too. The emotions in this book will have you going on many highs and lows as the writing has you experiencing what these characters are experiencing, making them real. How Phoebe has survived what she has gone through is a miracle in itself and to know the love and support she has while trying to learn to adjust to what is now her new normal shows us that there is hope that anything is possible.

The author has a way with her writing that will draw you in from the start to the end. She leaves the reader wanting more without a disappointing ending. The author uses everything so don't miss even the smallest detail it may not seem important at the time, but you discover later it is. I can’t wait to read more from this skilled author.

I really enjoyed this next book in the Phoebe Reede series. Although considering the content I feel a little guilty saying this. This is a very dark cloud wrapped in the covers of a book. There is a silver lining but it is buried deep within. This is NOT THE 1st in the series. Do not start here.
Phoebes life has been ripped out from the roots, and she is simply clawing her way out of the torture. After being rescued physically, the emotional scars are so deep she can never go "back" to being herself. That person is long gone and buried in a little jail at the junkyard. She is doing all the right things: therapy, surrounding herself with her loved ones, and not putting herself in risky situations. In fact she isnt putting herself in ANY situations. She only leaves her room to attend therapy. She will never be able to be "ok" again. 3 months at the hands of her captor(s) ruined her life forever.
Beau is going mad, Phoebe still wont let him around. He knows its because she blames him for not being there. He knows he failed her one time too many. Then one day she walks up and actually talks to him. After moving to Australia so he can keep up on her progress, he cant help but feel worse every day she isnt getting better. But then she is able to talk to him. Maybe things can be better after all. Maybe he is just the medicine she needs to heal her wounds.

arc received for an honest review - thank you! :-)

Physis is the 4th book in the 'Phoebe Reede' Series and you must read the other books in the series before starting this one.

Physis picks up where Beastly left off but is told from Phoebe's POV (whereas Beastly was told from Beau's). Although set in the present, there are many flash backs detailing what Phoebe endured whilst she was locked away in the dungeon.

I'm not gonna lie, this book was at times a very difficult read but the story was told so beautifully that even though at times it felt like my heart was breaking and I had tears clouding my vision, I was unable to put the book down.

Along with showing the devastation caused to Phoebe's life and how she goes about gluing the pieces back together, Michelle has tackled some really relevant topics in 'Physis' and done it very well.

This book really does show the strength of Phoebe's relationship with Beau and also with Angel and her family. It really was a beautiful thing to read about how they were all there for her, not always knowing what to do or say - but always trying to help her learn to cope with what happened to her.

A really beautifully written, emotionally charged story. Highly recommended.

What an emotional book! This series is amazing. Everything about Phoebe's story is addicting.
Phoebe went through hell, a hell most would not survive. She has pushed everyone away because it was to much.  Beau was waiting patiently for her to have the strength to see him.
So many times while reading this book tears just flowed. I hated hearing the horrific things that happened to her and how deeply they affected her. Watching her learning to cope was heartbreaking. Her family was trying so hard but touches were triggers, words were triggers that took her right back to that hell. Beau was her saving grace he didn't "cure" but he helped her. His easy loving way was beautiful his unconditional love showed in everything he did.
This is a story of true love that heals broken souls. Beau's love for Phoebe is what brings her out of the shell she has built. Phoebe's love for Beau is the foundation for the steps to get her life back.
I cannot wait for the next book I hope and pray Phoebe and Beau on their way to their HEA, lord knows they deserve one.

Admittedly, I have no personal experience with trauma. However, the journey Phoebe, her family, Beau, and Angel go through as they try to move forward after the ordeal in the previous book felt very realistic. There is a lot of pain, but there is also growth and hope.

I read a lot of romance novels. All too often, you see storylines where the heroine goes through abuse or violence but is quickly "saved" or "cured" by a hero who acts solely based on the intuition true love provides and possibly his experience with BDSM. Granted, I don't have personal experience, but this generally doesn't seem plausible. Given that common storyline, I really appreciate that Michelle Irwin shows that love is crucial, but long term help from a trained mental health professional is important for survivors and their supporters.

The ending is satisfying and not a cliffhanger, but I am happy to know that there is another book coming out to give us more of their story.

Physis (Pheobe Reede The Untold Story)

This has to be my number one series. I love Declan Reede but Michelle Irwin has surpassed herself with Pheobe Reede.

This story started off with a young girl living a dream to finding her soul mate and then having everything ripped away and leaving her broken with horrendous memories. It has touched on a horrible subject, in Physis shows that you can rebuild your life step by step.

In Beastly we are left with a broken hearted Beau, and a broken Pheobe. It gets you wondering if they will ever get together again.

Physis is from Pheobe pov. This story will break your heart, it will make you want to slap Pheobe, you will be hooked from the start and it will make your cry and smile at the same time.
Once again Michelle Irwin has written another superb book can't wait for the next one.

Oh my gosh! What an emotional roller coaster this was! The continuation of Phoebe's story as she tries to rebuild her life after the horrific events of 'Beastly'. Back home with her family but has isolated herself from those around her as even every day words trigger memories.

Beau is devastated by Phoebe leaving him but doesn't give up following her home and patiently waiting for her to let him back in. Beau is the one person who can reach her and understand what she needs. Beau is a remarkable young man.

This is a book that will break your heart and at the same time leave you breathless. It will have you celebrating Phoebe's successes, whilst wanting to commit murder to those that did this. Every element was beautifully written, poignant, thoughtful and sensitive. I am in awe of this writing and this author.

When this book finally arrived, I squeeeee'd so loudly, my husband almost drove into a tree. So, it's safe to say, expectations were set a bit high. I've been looking forward to this one. The ending to book three left me as a bit of a fiend. A lot of a fiend. I NEEDED this. So it's safe to say, I thought I was ready for this book.

......

I thought wrong.

This book is devastating. It's beautiful, and glorious, and wonderful, but it's got these feels that will crush you. I thought I'd read emotional books before, but this makes them feel like child's play. Like, on both ends of the spectrum. Seriously, prepare to drown in a sea of your own tears.

My heart hurt for Beau and Phoebe. Phoebe has been knocked around by life in such a devastating way. I loved that she put so much effort into reclaiming her life. Beau was awesome. He made every thought and feeling of Phoebe’s valuable. I’m happy they are on that road towards a better place.

This is the fourth book in this series and you need to read all of the previous books in order for the story to make sense. This installment is all about Phoebe's struggle of coming to terms with the horror and tragedy that happened to her at the hands of Xavier and Bee and living with the aftermath of it all and the guilt she feels that somehow it was all her own fault that it happened to her.
As an outsider you could mistake Phoebe's behaviour as her being a wayward teenager who is going through a rebellious phase but deep inside you know that our girl is hurting and reliving the pain daily of what she went through, she often lashes out at her friends and family or shuts herself away from the world because the smallest thing can trigger flashbacks that cripple her and emotionally shut her down.
Beau is such an amazing character, we get to see him at his best by showing his love for her tenfold with his patience and understanding of what she is going through and for his ability to get through to Phoebe when no one else can. He shows her he is there for her when she is ready and will always come for her when she needs him.
Michelle Irwin has pulled out all the stops with this book, it's so emotionally heart breaking but so beautifully written, you cant help yourself from crying and caring so much for Phoebe and Beau as you wonder if they will ever get past all of the barriers between them and be whole again.
Each book in this series just gets better and better and it is one of the best deeply touching and emotional books that i've read.
A brilliant 5 Stars!

If you read this book and do not believe in true love and the power it can have to heal, then you should not be reading the romance genre. Ms. Irwin pulls out all the emotional stops in Physis. Phoebe is an emotional wreck after her encounter in the States, as she is entitled to be. However, everyone in her life is touched by the evil that she endured, especially Beau. While she struggles to cut him out of her life, he fights to remain in her heart. He's not pushy or demanding but stalwart and patient, again adding to his perfection.
Everything in Phoebe's life is a trigger: Beau, being touched, her parents' relationship, and especially her mother's pregnancy and the birth of her youngest sibling. This is an emotional read and the reader learns a lot about her time in captivity. The emotions are raw and difficult to process, not only for Phoebe but also the reader. The writing is beautifully emotional and draws the reader into the story and the struggles of the characters. I am anxious to read where this series goes from here, because Beau and Phoebe both deserve their HEA.

REVIEW
Phoebe is still struggling to overcome what happened to her in the states. PTSD has gripped her and it's hold is strong.
Healing and moving forward seem so far away but with Family, Beau, and her best friend Angel it may just happen.

The author gives us one heck of a story it grips you from beginning to end, we get all the characters we love in this story. Declan Reede will do whatever it takes to save his daughter. Beau has won my heart with his love for Phoebe. I can not wait for more in this series.

I would suggest you start from book one so you know what is happening with everyone.

WOW!! Physis grabs hold and never lets go as it takes you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. To see Phoebe so broken is heartbreaking. To see her struggle to find a new normal is heartbreaking and inspirational. The anguish Phoebe's family, Beau, and Angel endure is agonizing. Through it all, no one gives up on Phoebe. They support her in every way possible. Most importantly, their love never wavers.

I loved the realistic way Michelle Irwin portrayed Phoebe's struggles. She made progress and had relapses. There was no linear improvement that just kept building. There was no single miracle breakthrough. She was getting counseling. Her family, Beau, and Angel learned techniques to help her feel safe and loved. In true Angel form, Angel told Phoebe some hard truths that she needed to hear.

Physis is overall a story of hope and love. About finding the light at the end of a long, dark, frightening tunnel. Of the resilience of the human spirit. Of the importance of unwavering love and support. Of putting the emotional needs of someone you love above your own needs.

I can't say enough about how awesome Physis is. It will take you through the gamut of emotions but it will leave you feeling hopeful for the future. It is definitely a must-read book along with the rest of the books in the Phoebe Reede series. Grab the entire series. You will fall in love with Michelle Irwin's story.

Michelle Irwin has a way of catching you in and captivating your heart and soul in her writing. This is the 4th book in Phoebe's story and what a story it is. This story is heartbreaking at times but also shows the love that Beau and Phoebe's family have for her. To truly appreciate this book you must read Pheobe's Story from the beginning

Finding a new normal is never as easy as it seems.

Phoebe Reede has suffered unimaginable tortures at the hands of her captors. Now home and safe, she can’t let go of the things that happened to her. No amount of therapy or coaxing by her parents can draw her from her shell.

How can she learn to live again, when everything she loved about herself is gone?

Congratulations need to be expressed towards Michelle Irwin!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and this book is no exception! The story is exposed over quite a few books; this is necessary as it is such an in depth theme.

Phoebe gets to finally give her story from her perspective and boy what she experiences is enough to give us all nightmares however it is presented in a smooth, fast paced story that draws you in and makes you a part of it.

Beau..ah what a darlin'! The strength of his character is one we should all aspire towards. Likewise it is the same for Phoebe, her parents and Angel.

I'm not going to sugar coat it, this story really sends you on the emotional roller coaster and at times leaves you chuckling, afraid, annoyed, excited and amazed.

Bring on the next book!

I LOVED THIS BOOK. Yeah it was that absolutely amazing xD I binge read the first few books in a day because they were so addicting and this was the best of all of them. It was more polished and flowed a lot better. If you’ve read the books that lead up to this one you know it was one heck of a cliffhanger leading up to it and this book made the wait so worth it. Honestly she wrote the struggle of over coming what happened in such a fantastic way. It was real it was heartbreaking and it was touching. I could only cross my fingers that everything would work out and that she’d be able to live again. Of course knowing this series, this book couldn’t be the end of everything, but its okay because this author just makes you want more no matter how she ends things. Even though this could have been an end, I’m so happy it wasn’t because I love Pheobe and Beau and I can’t wait to see where life takes them, and how far they can go. (Yeah I actually don’t mind waiting for another book because this one was just that amazing xP) I was upset with the last book because I wanted Pheobes side of what happened, but after reading this book I completely understand why she wrote beastly the way she did. It was like we were her family and friends, we didn’t know what she went through until she was reliving it or telling someone, and it made everything so much better. So I take back my review of the previous book because I completely love the way this book was written. Honestly one of the absolute best books I have ever read. I’m just in awe at how well she wrote such an uncommon situation, it was so easy to be in her head and understand and feel a little of what she was feeling. After being in Beaus head for the last book you could also understand the pain he was feeling and just how deep he truly cares for her. I can’t imagine how difficult a situation like this would be but she makes you understand it almost because she writes so well. Truly a one in a million book and I highly recommend it to everyone.

What can I say? Read this series, its well worth it, but beware its not all chocolates and roses, well the blurb says it all, so you can see it will be an emotional read...

Phoebe Reede has suffered unimaginable tortures at the hands of her captors. Now home and safe, she can’t let go of the things that happened to her. No amount of therapy or coaxing by her parents can draw her from her shell.

How can she learn to live again, when everything she loved about herself is gone?

Well, I am keeping this short... read and see for yourself.

So what can I say about this book, I read this book a few weeks ago when I was sent the book to review I dropped everything and started reading, and didn't stop.

Ms Irwin has proved she can write emotionally charged stuff, the feelings and emotions she has put down on paper are heart-wrenching, I felt Phoebe's pain, torment and frustrations.

The book quite rightly so is not a light tale, its dark, but there is hope, we should always have hope even in the darkest of hours.

I really can't wait for the next book, I know its going to be worth the wait.

I received and voluntary reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Stacy Aube for Cutting Muse Blog Review.

Coming back from the most destructive time in her life has been hard for Phoebe. With the help from loved ones she learning to move on with her life. Seeing the love between her her and Beau is beautiful even if life hasn't quite made it there yet. I can't wait for the next book.

Phoebe is broken. After being held captive and worn down she pushes everyone away believing it would be better not to taint them with her nightmares. Her parents don't know what to do but they convince her to get back behind the wheel of a racing car to see if it will bring her back. She sees someone in the stands and can't believe it's Beau, the guy she pushed away. As soon as they come together she realises that he may be her salvation.
This is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. There will be times when you can feel the hurt and sadness from Phoebe. But behind all of that is the wonderfully beautiful Beau patiently guiding Phoebe forward. An excellent read wonderfully told by Michelle Irwin. I highly recommend this book
