This Chinese cultivation tale continues. I was less excited about this volume which is mostly the murder of many characters we barely know and setup for future adventures. There is a lot happening but the reveal of the “plan” is always after the fact so I don’t feel any tension. Shapeshifting, teleportation, soul attacks and masterful poisons appear out of seemingly nowhere. It’s crazy and dramatic but not really for me.

Summary: Bai Yun Xiao requested aid from her master and now the Qing-yung Sect is coming to the empire. Jun Wuxie used a poison to control Xiao but is unwilling to give away powerful artifacts to the clan as they demand. Thus, she borrows power from Drunk Lotus and Jun Wu Yao to kill most of the representatives. Then she infiltrates Cloudy Peaks where she befriends Qiao Chu and Hua Yao. They kill and pretend to be Elder Ke Kang Ju to ferment hostilities. However, Jun Wuxie decides to save Mu Chen and his disciples who seem less corrupt than the rest of the sect.

2200 pages done, we have reached territory that was not covered in the manga.

I love her so much and I miss him
The friends she has made are great, I hope they stick around.

Is it cliche? Yes, absolutely it has the same tropes you find in all these type of novels but what makes this one so good is her personality! I have never read a book with an mc like her before and it's so refreshing and so satisfying

I think I felt in love with Jun Wu Xie.

I loved her icily and cold expression when she abdicated the emperor and poisoned the second prince with a poison even the Qing Yan Clan Sovereign's daughter couldn't understand rather than cure it. On the contrary the look on her face when she asked Jun Wu Yao to kill all the people of Qing Yan Clan who came to the Kingdom of Qi in order to not suppress the Jun Family again, was far more different from the usual her that even Wu Yao looked surprised for a moment.
But still until now (200 chapters) and didn't get a glimpse of who is Wu Yao? And how much powerful is he? (Although the 2nd question will be answered very soon).
But right now the most crucial question is, Does Jun Wu Xie really gonna resurrected her father after being dead for a decade?!!!!! And how?!!!!

Hope all questions I have to be answered in the next book.
