HAVE YOU EVER FALLEN IN LOVE WITH A FICTIONAL CHARACTER? WELL BE PREPARED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH STEVEN WILLIAMS. STEVEN IS ONE OF THE PRIMARY CHARACTERS IN THIS NOVEL. HE IS FINE, INTELLIGENT, CHOCOLATE COVERED AND EVERY WOMEN’S DREAM MAN. CHRISTINA BRINSLEY OUR FEMALE PRIMARY IS A WOMEN OF CHOCOLATE HUE ALSO WHO NEEDS JUST WHAT STEVEN HAS TO OVERCOME. THIS TALE HAS US WONDERING SHOULD WE JUST JUMP IN THE PAGES OF THE BOOK AND TAKE STEVEN FOR OURSELVES OR ROOT FOR CHRISTINA NOT TO LET THIS ONE GET AWAY. I truly believe that some writers and musicians only have one really good book or album in them. Usher's Confessions was great, Raymond v. Raymond not so much. Sean Paul's Dutty Rock was enough to make me spend a year flying back and forth to Jamaica trying to capture the essence of which he sang. Everything he's put out since then is just meh. Do you see where I'm going with this? So I was worried when I received Sweet Little Lies. What if it wasn't as good as the author's first book, Heard It All Before? I shouldn't have spent a minute worrying because Sweet Little Lies is just as good, if not better.
Christina Brinsley has created the perfect world for herself. She has the career, the house, the car and the fiance'. Scratch that. She HAD the fiance, her third fiance' to be exact. When he dropped a bomb on her just days before their wedding, her world went into a spin. A week later she finds herself on the plane to New York for work, seated next to the same delivery guy who was a witness to her melt down at home just days ago.
In honoring the phrase, "there's more to him than meets the eye," the handsome delivery guy who witnessed Christina's breakup with her fiance' is really a grad student flying back to New York to finish school after a summer in the Bay area. Sure Christina Brinsley is hot, but Steven Williams can already tell that she's a high maintenance bougie chick that may be more trouble than she's worth. So is it destiny or a bad twist of fate that lands him on her flight?
In between pursuing their careers, Christina and Steven burn up the pages with an intense game of cat and mouse that takes them from coast to coast and challenges them both to learn to trust again.
What did you like about this book?
Christina is such a real character. Like a lot of people she's so busy trying to control situations and second guessing everyone else that she stands in the way of her own happiness. I kept wanting to scream out, "Get out of your way!"
And Steven? If a man as perfect as this exists, I can only hope that Michele Grant has patented him and started producing his clone in mass quantities.

I hate the cover. The woman on it is pretty enough, but she's not at all what I imagine Christina would look like.
What could the author do to improve this book?
Keep writing. I'm appreciative of books that feature grown characters and Grant does an excellent job of bringing both the grown and sexy.

Sweet Little Lies was a very good read. Michelle Grant writes a very fast moving story of a younger man-older woman who's afraid to give her heart because of her 3 failed proposals. Christina Brinsley is beautful, smart, articulate and hurt. Steven Williams fine, sexy and smart is her delivery man who happens to be delivering wedding gifts to her as she breaks up with her 3rd Fiance. They become acquaintances on a plane ride to NYC where they have to seated next to each other. Thus begans a whilwind week of fun.
This is the second book that I have read by Ms. Grant and again I have been throughly blown away. I have read both books in a matter of 24 hours they are so good. For a good quick and enjoyabe read try her books.

Ok, this is the second book that I've read by Michele Grant and I'm officially a fan! She knows how to tell a story, y'all! And from more than one point of view.
This story started off with a bang. The whole Jay/David thing was crazy! And such a funny way for Christina and Steven to meet. These two were perfect for each other and I enjoyed their journey to their happily ever after, although I did want to smack Christina several times along the way. Loved the way that Steven always called her out on her shit. I also liked that she took the time to get herself together before going back to him. And her wooing him? Awesome! He definitely deserved it.
While I loved Ti-Ti and S-Dub's story, the best parts of the book may have been the scenes with Christina and her crew. Those conversations were so real! And hilarious! It really felt like I was eavesdropping on them, instead of reading scenes in a book. The authentic, sharp and very witty dialogue is, for me, one of the things that sets Ms. Grant apart from other writers.
If you haven't read any of Michele Grant's books, you are definitely missing out! Get your life and read one!
p.s. Ms. Grant, I won't be mad at all if you decide to write a book for Carey and Clarke. I'd love to read their story!

Pheeew....what a book this was. I was hooked just a couple of pages in and it didn't let me go until the end. It took me longer to read because I had to savour it.I definitely wasn't ready to let the book and the characters go just yet!
I love the way this author writes her characters because they are so realistic. She also does a good job of using them to make one self-reflect which always a good thing.
Christina is the beautiful, amazing, and complicated woman who must decide to put aside her past fears, learn to finally trust again and entrust her heart to a guy like Steven.
As for Steven, oh where do I start? He certainly has his flaws, but if there are men like him walking around, I sure hope the women who land them or are with them are worthy of such goodness.

I really loved this book. It is my second read by Michele Grant, and I must say this one is my favorite. I listened to the audio version and I was very pleased that there was a male and female narrator.
This book is a very romantic read with some seriously sexy love scenes. You will watch the main characters deny their love for each other, dance around their feelings and lose what they have both grown to cherish. Five years later, they come back into contact again... This time, one of them is determined NOT to let the past get into the way of something special.

Christina and Steven had me wondering how this was going to end. I was so into this story you would think I knew these people :)
Love that there was both a female and male narrator. This was another story that I wish I had of listened to sooner. Looking forward to reading more from Michele Grant and definitely recommend to others.

Even with all the deceit, betrayal, and suspense, this story was still laugh out loud good! Although Christina is smart, sexy and brilliant at her job, she doesn't see the men in her life as they truly are: phony, deceitful, fakers. Rather she "sees" them as perfect husbands and fathers. OMG! They are so NOT! So poor, good guy, Steven, doesn't stand a chance. When he needed her the most, Christina turned her back on him. Once the truth is revealed, will he be able to forgive her? Amazing story!

Clearly I'm in the minority, since it was painful for me to get through this book. I had to stop multiple times and really made myself finish. I just couldn't get over the main woman character or the male character, both of them were full of themselves and just too much. The story dragged on when it could have wrapped up ages ago.

Great love story
This is the first time I read a book by this author. It was a fantastic love story about a woman finding herself after a few failed relationships and the struggle to move past those relationships to start a new. A nice change from urban fiction.

Christina Brinsley has been burned by love, and that’s an understatement. Her third engagement blows up in the worst way just days before the wedding. As a result, she decides to dedicate herself to work and avoid relationships all together...until she meets Dr. Steven Williams. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Let me start by saying…I love a good romance. Sweet Little Lies was a great romance/chick-lit. I loved it. The main character of Christina Brinsley was real, raw, and familiar. I found myself simultaneously rooting for her and rolling my eyes at her in certain spots. But I knew her. Dr. Steven Williams? What can I say about this hero? I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with this character, but I did. He was the perfect man for Ms. Brinsley. He kept her on her toes AND gave her a dose of reality when she needed it. He loved her so completely, despite her flaws.
This is my first book by Ms. Grant, and I’m impressed. I’ll definitely be checking out her first novel, Heard it all Before. Ms. Grant took me on a journey with this book, exploring issues that are relevant to women and men in our community. Everybody knows a woman so jaded about relationships (with good reason) that she doesn’t see a good thing when it’s staring her in the face. We all know the ‘friend’ that you would never trust around your man. And we all know about expectations. This book had all of that and more. I didn’t want the story to end. In fact, I’m rooting for a sequel.

I'm in the minority on this one., was really looking forward to reading something light about a Black woman but I kept getting distracted. I appreciated the effort to give a story a secondary plotline but the details were sparse and it didn't have enough time to unfold for something as complicated as a corruption scandal. There were also some small inconsistencies in the editing (for example Christina talks about how she and Steve Tweet each other but then chapters later Steve says he doesn't have a Twitter...) that bothered me. I also hate when characters are too perfect and there was nothing wrong with Steve but maybe that's the point of these kind of books (no idea what kind of books I mean honestly. I guess chick lit)? I grew tired of the constant slut shaming Christina faced too, EVERY CHARACTER just had to get a little dig in. I appreciated her attitude about it but I was annoyed that not one single character could have come to her defense. Christina is also a lot more forgiving than I am in regards to a friend situation that arises, I thought the way she handled it was interesting. All in all it was a quick read and enjoyable at times but not through and through, I was hoping for more but that's more my fault than the author's.

Ever pick up a book expecting a light fun read and end up with a life lesson instead?It took me three hours to read this book from cover to cover - I didn't move! It starts with a dramatic bang and then takes you on a ride. Just when you think you've read this before, the author throws in an original twist and you're along for the ride. Christina is a conflicted and confused heroine that you still like and identify with. Steven is a god among men but still very, very human. I finished reading and wanted to start over and read it again. I hope she does a sequel because I'm not ready to let these characters go yet. And as if that's not enough - there are lessons to be learned if anyone cares to open themselves to them. The ending made me cheer.

Starts out funny, but gets more serious. Having three men back out of marriage just before the day, Christina Brinsley is determined not to get involved again. She indulges in a short fling with a younger man who delivers her wedding gifts and has far more depth than she realizes. She returns to her career leaving him hurting. Several years later, she meets "Grown Man Stephen" again. He is all a woman could want and still wants her,but she cannot believe in him when a crisis comes along. You get a little frustrated with Christina who keeps backing off again and again, but eventually she confronts her sweet little lies for the HEA. Lots of very steamy sex in this one and portraits of an enviable life style.

This is another great read from Michelle Grant. Sweet Little Lies was funny at times and sweet at times with a little bit of life lessons thrown in. Christina and Steven are a great couple and all the secondary couples were great also. I wish we knew what exactly was going on between Celia and Collin because that didn't really seem like it got settled. They just went with the flow and was back together again. I love how in all of her books Michelle Grant lets you know exactly whose POV it is with each chapter and let's her main characters have their shine. I can't wait to read more of her books.

Loved this book. It was good from beginning to end. Christina has trust issues, and rightfully so, after dealing with the nuckleheads she'd been engaged to. When the right one comes along she struggles to trust again. Steve knows she's the one but he's tires of her rules, moodiness and limitations. Sometimes you just don't know what you have until it's gone.
I could relate to Christina's weariness & I loved grown-up Steve.

Loved this book! I won't give an in depth overview of the book because I'm sure it's already been done. I hope that there is a seqeul, I would love to see how this couple works through the challenges of married life. It would also be interesting to get a deeper look into Carey and Collin's life. Overall, great read.

Such a great read. You can really see the progress from her first book to this one. The dialogue is witty, the characters are fully formed and the story makes sense. The hero Steven is so well written you not only fall in love with him, you want someone to sell you the clone DNA.
As a women who has felt "fed up with love" Christina's story resonated with me.

Wow! That's all I can say. I'm not one of those people who love to read ChickLit all the time, but this book right here was brilliant. I loved Grant's style of writing. She made characters so realistic to me. When I fall in love with the main male character, then you know this was a good read! RECOMMEND RECOMMEND!!!

Loved this book. This book has it all, its funny, dramatic, relatable, and has life lessons. Steven and Christina were just so perfect for each other. I needs a sequel Michele Grant. Everybody should read this book. The main characters are black but they could just as easily be white/mexican/asian, etc...

I'll admit it - I liked Heard It All Before but I LOVED Sweet Little Lies. I felt like the author was sitting next to me telling me a story. It's fresh and fun and even though there's a little drama, there's a lot of feel good. I'll read this one again and again.

Just finished this book. Im sad to say I have quite a few Christina traits. It's not just a love syory it's a grown up love story. One day a beautiful man like that will cross my path and I'll remember this book.
