OH WOW!! We normally get to see the best of what makes a SEAL so infamous. In this book, we get to see a side that shows no matter how wonderful and heroic - they have battles and flaws just like the rest of us. Sometimes, those flaws destroy and push loved ones away.
It’s been over a decade, life has moved forward in monumental ways for Halley while for Morgan they are moving but stagnating also. Until Halley’s - Women’s Empowerment conventions marks her as a terrorist cells target for elimination… No matter the consequences… Morgan will do everything in his power to protect her, evening coercing his way into a super secret task force.
Sharon Hamilton has written a beautiful and thoroughly intriguing book that deals with real life issues. Beautiful, angst filled, drama and suspense and dealing with the ramifications of when love doesn't always work out the way we planned.
Incredibly strong, caring characters, with such depths of inner fortitude, that never give up attitude, even when life throws curve balls and gets tough. It’s always good to catch up with familiar team members and know they are there for each other no matter what - they are family and will do whatever it takes to protect those they love. I loved the addition of two seals that worked hard put didn't quite make it yet given an opportunity to showcase their humour and skill sets...
Tensions are high, suspense leaves you waiting. No matter what - you have to trust your former training, trust your innate instincts, focus, attention to detail, and put any differences aside - to save those your love even when you know you are not what’s best for them.
Those aspects of the book were great… a few minor details that could have been further explored, as they added to that escalating tension and suspense (her assistant and brother). I think sometimes Authors need more room to really make their stories come alive. Novella’s I don’t think give that opportunity, especially in a story like this where it needed more room to develop a plot and all that was going on… I would have liked to have seen more story with the two young Seals that infiltrated to show that side of the terrorists plot… while there was always chemistry with Halley… a new man was there and that ending could have been so much more… but that’s a reader wanting more and more… which I figure can’t always happen. I still loved reading this story, the cultural differences and similarities that we all are as human beings… we want love, we want equality, we want freedom to be who we are.
Sharon Hamilton is one of my favourite authors in Military/Romantic Suspense genre. If you love page-turning, breath taking words, along with dramatic tension and romance - Sharon, delivers this and so much more for her readers.
