I read this book to prepare me for my qualitative research methods class this fall. The book is easy to read and full of explanations and explains concepts in easy to understand language while still maintaining a scholastic approach. Would recommend this to any one about to, in, or in need of a refresher to read this book!

This was one of the textbooks for my HIED Qualitative Research course. It was excellent! It is a great primer for people who are not familiar with qualitative research (me, before the course). I loved the easy-to-understand explanations and the activities. I know I will use some of the activities again as I continue to refine my dissertation topic and research questions.

This is a useful, easy to read book that serves as a good basic introduction to qualitative research. It is written by a professor in education but could be used by any professional group. There are a lot of exercises in the book to get you to apply the principles to your own research project. It is probably much more focused on undergrad students learning about research for the first time and not postgrads. It is laid out in units to guide a module.

If you must read a book on qualitative research, it should be this one. It’s balanced, comprehensive, but brief. The author walks a razors edge of technique and approachability.
