I've read a lot of cuckold fiction -- mostly short stories, a few novel-length works. Most of the novels seem to provide a scaffold on which to hang the sex scenes -- I read erotica, so I've certainly got nothing against sex scenes -- but not a lot of development. In her novel, McCurran takes the time she needs to develop her characters and their actions, and I think it pays off.

McCurran gives us a look into the thoughts of both Jess, a young wife and mother who has moved into a gentrifying district, and Winston, her handsome, black neighbor. Winston knows what he wants right from the beginning. Jess is unsure at each step; many of her thoughts end in question marks. This rings true for a man and a woman in their positions. (One thing that gives me pause, though, is that Winston sometimes thinks of Jess as "prey." Do men really think like that?) The other major characters are Kyle, Jess's husband, and Nicole, her best friend.

The story unfolds at a leisurely pace, with events deepening the relationships among the characters, yet with plenty of steamy sex along the way. I think any fan of cuckold erotica will find something to like here.

Loved this book and hope the couples story will continue at some point. I haven't had the opportunity to do much reading lately and this was a good hot story to get me back into reading again. I have always liked this author and this book does not disappoint. Great interesting story and characters and the sex scenes certainly do not let you down :)

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Jess and Kyle are a married couple with a young daughter who have moved into an area of the city that is attracting new people due to the low cost of housing, the area is on the way up, although some residents do not always welcome the newcomers. Their neighbour Winston, is taken with the slim blonde wife who lives across the street and vows to bed her. Slowly Jess and Winston form a friendship that starts with him helping Jess when she falls over while taking her daughter Maddie to school. At Maddie’s birthday party Jess’s best friend Nicole and Winston hit it off, which turns out to be the catalyst for Jess & Kyle’s fantasies.

Told in the third person, the reader gets the points of view of all the participants, the characters are well defined and generally likeable, although I did think that the “not a racist” angle was a little overplayed. I think that four main characters were sufficiently well rounded and believable to warrant further exploration if the author should feel like doing so. I felt that the writing, especially in the set up to the story was not of the usual high standard I have come to expect from Kirsten McCurran, although to be fair to her, it does get better once she gets into the story and she excels with some of the sex scenes which are particularly steamy.

I really liked the conversations Jess and Kyle had, sometimes face to face, sometimes by text and other times by phone or scype where they both tried to understand how they felt about Jess flirting with Winston and wrestling with the conflicting emotions and feelings while trying to ensure it did not effect their marriage and subsequently how they felt about each other.

The ending did seem a little rushed and contrived and without wishing to give too much away I think it would have been better to have concentrated more on Kyle supporting Jess and helping her discover more about her sexuality and the endless possibilities open to her.

There was the odd minor editing issue but nothing that prevented me from enjoying the story, I found the book an enjoyable and stimulating read and would recommend it.

The BBC rom-com you never knew you needed!

And no, I don't mean the TV network.

I love this book. Jessica and Kyle are new in the neighborhood. She strikes up a friendship with a neighbour and the neighbour sets his sights on being "more than friends" with Jessica. Not a cheating book though as Kyle gives his blessing to the whole "affair".

This sounds like a porn film plot, but the story here is a slow-burn romance with sensitivity and insight into both Jessica and Kyle's feelings and motivations, and also those of the neighbour and Jessica's BFF. And the sex, when it happens, is hot!

Very highly recommended. Avoid if extra-marital relationships bother you, but everything here is open and consensual. End-of-year Top Ten material for me for sure, probably Top Five.

NEW STANDARD IN THE HOTWIFE GENRE

My wife and I first read this book over a year ago. We decided to read again and enjoyed it even more the second time. We have read all the top authors in this genre such as Wright, Morrison, Boswell, Sebastian and others. I rate this book as the best we have read. For our taste it hit all the right buttons. It also avoided the things we don't like such as cuckolding, cheating, humiliation and excessive angst.

Jess and Kyle are a loving couple with one child who have recently moved from the suburbs to the inner city to remodel the home of their dreams. Jess meets a friendly neighbor who happens to be black and quickly has designs on his pretty blond neighbor. It develops from there as you might expect.

What sets this book above so many is how believable and realistic the transformation of Jess and Kyle from a conservative couple to a hotwife couple. Its a slow burn at first but that's all right because it allows for a great connection with all the characters. It doesn't take Jess from conservative wife to slut over just a few pages like so many books.

Kirsten does an excellent job of convincing us that Kyle and Jess have a committed marriage and are genuinely in love. They proceed with their sexual awakening with complete cooperation and total honesty. There is of course natural trepidation and normal angst that adds to the believability of the story.

Two other main characters are Nicole, Jess's bff, and Winston the hot neighbor. Nicole adds an additional level of heat and Winston may be the most likeable bull ever encountered in this genre. All of the characters are likeable and believable.

Now to the sex scenes. Oh my gosh. They are amazingly erotic. In almost every one we had to..........take a little break, if you will, and return later. lol I promise you won't be disappointed.

The ending is very satisfying but leaves you desperate for a sequel. Do yourself a favor and read this book. IM us on goodreads and let us know if you agree.

Another great story by Kirsten MCCURRAN with contributions from my favourite author Kenny Wright. A realistic plot with candid discussions between the married couple and the bull. A neat twist as to how the wife's BFF figures into the story, both during the affair and afterwards.

It was interesting to see the effect the bull Winston had on Jess and Kyle as a couple; all very positive. It also helped Jess embrace her sexuality and her overall confidence.

It would have been intriguing to see Winston grow as a result of his relationship with Jess and Kyle. He didn't change very much through the interaction with them. I felt it was a missed opportunity to show how intense interactions between people affect everyone involved.

Some interesting hooks set for the budding relationship between Jessica's sister Jen, Jen's husband Mike and the bull Winston. I wonder what their story will be?

There are several features that makes this book stand over other erotica. The author has taken pain to develop the four key characters that feature in her story. Jessica and Kyle are a white couple who move into a mixed neighbourhood where Jessica encounters Winston, a handsome black man who has designs on her. Instead, he takes up with Nicole, Jessica’s friend. To enhance reader interest, the author has had to resort to stereotypes: the pale blonde wife and the well-endowed black man. Nevertheless, the characters are plausible. Winston’s seduction of Jessica is low-paced and presented from the viewpoints of the two characters. The latter sex scenes are explicit and graphic, giving the impression that they were written by another person. Still, this book is worth a read.

I do like Kirsten's writing style, she pays a lot of attention to all the participants in her books, making them someone you can emphasize with. The only problem I had with this read was it followed the usual formula.. mousy wife, husband wanting his wife to indulge another man and not forgetting the bull, yes, a big black guy with a cock the size of a policeman's truncheon!! It did redeem itself with a rather good ending and it hasn't stopped me reading more from Ms McCurran so all's well that ends well.

Fantastic story that I haven't finished yet, it's been an intense turn on.

The characters are likeable, the build up good (dragged a little too much at the start) and the payoff is good.

The story isn't strictly wife watching but the husband knows all about the attraction and encourages them to hook up. You won't be disappointed but the husband isn't as prominent as he is not the narrator of the story.

I'll follow up when I am finished and let you know my final impressions in case it takes a sharp turn to shitsville. I doubt Kirsten will ruin the ending though as she's very consistent at keeping characters true to themselves..

Finished the book and my opinion of it is still sterling. Great book. Buy it. Read it. Love it.

I enjoyed this book immensely. The build up was excruciating and the final release deeply satisfying. I liked the way that the main characters developed, and especially the bull. I started off hating him, and then found that he was actually quite sympathetic. The relationship between husband and wife was very well rendered. They loved each other intensely, and the experiences they have enhance it. It is a seriously sexy read.

The wife's slow acceptance of her desires and fear of their power were the best parts of this one. Really more like 4.5 stars.

Plenty of seduction

Winston wants Jessica, and so he plays the long game to get her, even befriending her husband.
A scorching hot story about sex and infidelity. This book is highly active.

Kirsten McCurran (actually a pen name for a husband-wife team) is an author who is part of Kenny Wright's little writing factory putting out pulp erotica. Normally books from this writing group (which also includes fellow authors, Arnica Butler, Ben Boswell and Sam Sebastian) are formulaic short stories and novellas about hot wives and cuckolds. However, Gentrified is actually full novel-length, much better written, and presents a variation on the cuckold genre that's unique.

The story is a slow burn near-romance. The FMC (Jessica) and MMC (Winston) become flirty, platonic friends well before they have sex together. The FMC's husband is a weirdo cuckold (and completely despicable) who pushes the reluctant FMC into the MMC's bed. The FMC's uninhibited best friend hooks up with the MMC first, but she's willing to share. It's an odd quadrangle of lust.

But allow me to cut to the chase: This book was intended to be sexually explicit and it delivers. However, it did not slip into debauchery, which is a fine line and easy for erotica authors to cross. The climatic sex scenes between the FMC and MMC brought just the right amount of heat without going too far and trying to gross readers out. Most authors in this genre tend to appeal to the lowest common denominators in their audience. The erotic scenes in Gentrified: A Wife Seduced are different.

All this said, for those who occasionally read erotica, this is a good book to check out.

This is one of my alltime faves. And while I've usually attended to the top good parts—Jessica's two nights with Winston, the second one including her friend (and Winston's booty call) Nicole, and the big finale—a rereading today reminded me just how sexy the rest of it is.

Jessica and Kyle move into a gentrifying neighborhood in the city. There's a clash of cultures, of course: college-educated white people living next door to the urban black people whose homes are slowly getting bought up.

Or, in this case, across the street. Jessica becomes fascinated as she makes passerby chitchat with Winston across the street. She's a whitebread suburban girl and not at all accustomed to mingling with blacks. Her mother, an outright racist, would be appalled by all this.

But she feels the lure. Kyle, of course, starts getting a cucky thrill out of the flirtation. And it's helped along by Nicole, sexually savvy and delighted with the challenge of getting her BFF seduced by her own boyfriend.

While the major scenes are incendiary, so, too, is a lot of the connective tissue: Jessica's video sex calls with her husband when he's out of town, Nicole's steamy tumbles with Winston while they heat themselves up plotting this, Winston and Jessica's first torrid makeout session, and even Nicole's dressing Jessica breezy and slutty for pics for Kyle—and Winston.

McCurran has said this is maybe her best story. She's written numerous great ones but this certainly ranks at or near the top.

Fantastic Book

Loved reading this book, starts off slow like a slow burn and when it catches fire it is so hot. The characters are strong and it was fun to watch them explore their sexuality and venture into new territory. Jessica becoming the sexual being she want to be with Winston, their neighbor, and exploring sexually with her friend Nicole is so hot. Loved the direction Kristen McCurran took the characters and the story and it almost lends itself in the end to a potential second story with these same characters but I am guessing only. Great book very hot read, enjoyed it thoroughly.
