First, an ENTERPRISE story by Vivek Tiwary and Artist TK. Captain Archer's pet beagle Porthos takes center stage in a Temporal Cold War tale that sees the beloved pooch traveling back in time in order to save a young Jonathan's life. Then, a NEXT GENERATION story by Scott Bryan Wilson involving double trouble - quite literally - for an away team when they explore a strange new planet!
"The Fragile Beauty of Loyalty" was unexpectedly clever and poignant--well done!
I didn't quite buy into the reality of "Mirror, Mirror, Mirror, Mirror," the conceit seeming to be forced to justify the philosophical musings at the end. But a few cool moments and some nice artwork.
The first story is connected to Star Trek Enterprise. It felt very silly to me, and I didn't particularly care for it. The second is a The Next Generation story. This one was much more interesting to me, but I didn't care for the very forced philosophical message at the end. The concept of an alien making mirror copies of people, and those people being completely separate but also one person at the same time was really cool. Again, it's so short it doesn't go anywhere. But it's a cool idea!
The first story was not one I enjoyed much. A time-traveling dog? The second one is better, but seems to ignore the prime directive as they are helping a creature reproduce itself. Some cool elements, especially in the second of the two stories, but overall not great.
The stories in the "Waypoints" series are pretty weak. The first two issues were OK but 3 and 4 are not worth buying. The story line lacks imagination.
