Club Wicked Cove #2

Desperation: Colt's Acquittal

Rate this book
This is an updated cover edition of ASIN B01LDH2J48.

This is Part 2 of book 1 in the Club Wicked Cove series and must be read in sequence. In Part 1, Ceejay Powell found love and absolution, for her guilt, in the arms of Colt Fargo, the owner of Club Wicked Cove, until his dark past reared its head in the form of the Occhipinti organization..

Colt now returns to find himself at the helm of the most feared and powerful American crime family, to reprise his role as The Devil’s Spawn, a name replete with evil. A phone call jars loose recent memories that he had compartmentalized in the back of his mind and spins his world upside down. Enraged by the turn of events he travels back to Jacksonville to avenge the deceit.

Ceejay finds it impossible to associate Damiano Vitale with the man that she once loved. Soon, her secret is revealed, pushing Damiano to violate every emotion he had ever held as rage blinds him to anything but retribution and turning his love for Ceejay, into hate.

When a demented psychopath comes along, the bond they once had and tried to repair becomes endangered of being destroyed forever.

This tale is wrought in depth with the fullest scope for which the human condition is accountable: love, hate, violence, betrayal and death. Will Damiano be acquitted in the court of public opinion for his crimes of passion or will he be found guilty and condemned to a life of misery and self-loathing?

“Isn’t it a universal truth that it’s our singular experiences and passion, for whatever thing or things, which molds us all into the individuals we become? Whether it's hidden in the depths of our soul or exposed for all to see?”

Linzi Basset is a South African born animal rights supporter with a poet’s heart, and she is also a bestselling fiction writer of suspense filled romance erotica books; who as the latter, refuses to be bound to any one sub-genre. She prefers instead to stretch herself as a storyteller which has resulted in her researching and writing historical and even paranormal themed works.

Her initial offering: Club Alpha Cove, a BDSM club suspense series released back in 2015, reached Amazon’s Bestseller list, and she has been on those lists ever since. Labeling her as prolific is a gross understatement as just a few short years later she has now been published over a hundred times.

“I write from the inside out. My stories are both inside me and a part of me so it can be either pleasurable to release them or painful to carve them out. I live every moment of every story I write. So, if you're looking for spicy and suspenseful, I'm your girl... woman... writer... you know what I mean!"

Linzi believes that by telling stories in her own voice, she can better share with her readers the essence of her being: her passionate nature; her motivations; and her wildest fantasies. She feels every touch as she writes, every kiss, every harsh word uttered, and this to her is the key to a never-ending love of writing.

Ultimately, all books by Linzi Basset are about passion. To her, passion is the driving force of all emotion; whether it be lust, desire, hate, trust, or love. This is the underlying message contained in her books.

Her advice: “Believe in the passions driving your desires; live them; enjoy them; and allow them to bring you happiness.”

Good BDSM book

There were parts I did not like much, but then there were parts that made me rethink those parts I was not liking. So overall I really liked how the story went. I like ending and there was loads of action and danger and a lot of BDSM action as well. A steamy story for sure and I think you will like it a lot. A good read that I recommend with a nice HEA ending.

brutal

Why I have kept reading Linzi Basset I couldn't say. Her stories have progressively gotten more brutal. Hardcore nasty. This one has been the worse. No more for me.

I really enjoyed reading the story of Colt and Ceejay. Their relationship was on the rocky side in book 2. So much had happened between these two. They have a falling out and Ceejay had an unexpected surprise. Something she didn’t want Colt to know about. But Colt had his own issues he had to deal with. The separation was enough to destroy their relationship. And things went from bad to worse.
In this story there’s those twists and turns the author likes to make it keeps us readers happy. There’s a lot to feel in this book. I was mad, sad, and very concerned how the story will end. I loved the sassy Ceejay, always getting into trouble with her mouth. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind even when she knew she’d be punished. 😂
All I really say is I loved the book and moving on to #3. ❤️❤️❤️

I was so angry with Colt/Damiano at the end of part one and I couldn't see any way to redeam him, in my eyes and definitely not in Ceejays. Linzi wove a tale of love, deceit, revenge and redemption and made me change all my initial thoughts and feelings. To take a character from the depths of depravity at the end of part one, to the heights of redemption in part two, is no easy feat and Linzi is in that class of authors so you definitley have to give this book....and her others, some one-click love!!!!

Another Must Read from Linzi Basset

Linzi Basset's second book of the Club Wicked Cove series continues with Colt Fargo and CeeJay Powell's journey through kidnapping, violence, betrayal and love. Again mesmerizing as only Linzi Basset can weave a storyline, I once again could not stop reading until finished!!!! Must Read!!!!

A good read

Colt Fargo was a good man, but the demon inside him Damiano was not. The story of Colt takes a turn to the ugly as the romantic and funny Colt gives in to his demons in this book. Some of the words and actions of Damiano are cringe worthy. Some things , those of us who visualize as we read, would rather not see. This story gives a good compliment of raw power, sexual depravity and the evil which can lie within our own minds. The characters are believable and complex. Their motivations are spelled out in a way which is understandable. However, some more depth into why Ceejay is what and who she is would have been nice. The discussions inside Damiano's head help the reader to have a better grasp on him. The issues of the storyline were more towards the end. The ending appeared rushed. The fact that some strings of the story were not fleshed out could mean more to come, but it would have been nice to wrap up better. One line says , "the pull of the family..." what pull? Has Damiano remained the head of the mob family or has he left. Those issues leave this reader unsatisfied and with expectations of another book concluding properly this story. Enjoy the read despite my problems with the ending it was a good book.

After seeing Colts loving side even when in Dom form it's a shock to see his evil side as Damiano Vitale. He will frustrate you throughout the book even when you figure out what's going on. Some of the blame lies with Ceejay though. Linzi writes so well that you feel the emotions the characters do. The mafia has a lot of things going in different directions so will that be their eventual downfall and will Damiano be able to tame the beast inside him? Only time will tell! Definite must read series!

Loved it

Great book but.... not enough about the club and the ending was another cliffhanger. I hope we don't have to wait forever for the conclusion.
