DNF at 7%. I couldn't get far enough into the story to tell you if it was good or not. The writing was just not very good. To give the author some credit, they did seem to have a distinct, unique voice. But, they didn't have the writing skills to put it into place. I wouldn't be opposed to trying something they write again maybe after an editor gets ahold of this, or better yet, the author takes some classes. As it stands, it's so poorly written it's distracting.

This was a quick, steamy read with virtually no angst. But it was a sweet story that starts and ends with a good amount of heat to it.
Maddie has wanted her best friends Jessica's dad Kase forever and when Jessica convinces her dad to hire Maddie has his assistant while she's oversees for the summer she thinks she finally has her opening.
Kase knows that hiring Maddie is a horrible idea but, he can't tell his daughter no, and on Maddies very first day his willpower wavers slightly and it's basically a losing battle to withstand Maddie.

This book had some pretty steamy sex scenes. Unfortunately, they were wrapped in a bit bland and predictable story (with a lot of missing commas).

With the teacher/student genres, stepbrother genres and mafia genres with the very dark touch, older men/younger women genres have easily made that list as well. So of course, when I found out that J.L. Beck write another older man/younger woman with the best friend's dad aspect, I had to jump on it and find out how it compared to her previously released novel of the same style. When Jessica, Kases's daughter is about to leave for the summer on a back packing trip, he needs a new assistant to take her place. She offers to put in a good word for her best friend, Maddie, who has loved this man ever since she turned 16. Only, without Jessica's presence to keep the two apart, they have to decide if they'll give in to their attraction or try to stay as far away from one another, keeping it professional as they live in the same home for the summer vacation.
4.5 sexy dreams
While there were many elements that I enjoyed from this book, there were others that left me wanting (of sorts). I'm not against insta-love/lust or a happily ever after, but everything went by so fast that I wondered if maybe I was missing a few parts, but then again, J.L. Beck is known for her short stories, so I took it with a grain of salt to a certain degree. I couldn't deny the attraction that exists between Maddie and Kase and enjoyed their story - I just happen to want to read more about them and find out more about their lives and history. I do enjoy J.L. Beck's stories, some more than others and while Off Limits wasn't at the top of the list, it was still one that I would recommend for a fast and quick read.

This was a quick sexy read that I really enjoyed. I liked all the sexy moments. There was great angst in this story, which I really appreciated. The forbidden moments were really good and very believable with the stakes being really high and added to the tension and sexiness to the story. The chemistry was off the charts good as was their lovemaking. Their affair was smoking hot. And I enjoyed both of the characters.
This book had a very interesting concept with the best friend fall for her best friend's dad and them engaging in a sexy love affair. Though I know this concept isn't new and has been written in like a dozen books already, this was a new theme for me. I wasn't sure how I was going to like it or if I would be grossed out by it, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really did like it. I was very intrigued by it and that forbidden element really upped the stakes for me. It kept me engrossed all the way through, and I don't know if all books surrounded by this theme are like this one, but thanks to this one I am more than willing to give it a shot.
My one criticism of this story was that it was a little bit short, and I wanted more. I wanted more development in their emotional relationship. I wanted to see that build and build over time, though I knew due to the length that was impossible. But I wanted to see and feel Kase fall more and more in love with Maddie as their relationship progressed because I wasn't convinced he was in love with her yet. For me, I felt it was more lust for him than anything else. There were a few tender gestures on his part, but I wanted more so I could believe in his love. Maddie's I felt right away, and I believed it. But again due to the length it couldn't be done. That's why novella's don't satisfy me as much because the tend to lack emotional development.
Aside from the lack of believablity on the emotional end and lack of depth there, I truly did enjoy this book and liked where it headed. It was truly a nice introduction to the best friends dad/best friend trope. Even though I wished it was longer, I was happy that it was short enough that I could breeze right through in no time. It was a nice easy yet sexy read. I really enjoyed it especially with all those sexy times. Wish there was a tender love scene in my head bedroom, but wasn't hating on the love scenes were there. I was glad that I read this story.

Honestly J L Beck's reads are just like a quik fuck ;)... Her stories are Short,forbidden with lots and lots of steamy sex...I usually read her novels when I am switching from one good novel to the other.. 3 steamy stars to JL Beck!!

Hot, OTT Alpha who has the hots for his daughter's best friend. He can't help his feelings especially when he finds out that she feels the same way. They thought they had 3 months to decide if it's love or just a passing fling until unexpected events happen. J.L.Beck knows her way around hot and spicy reads!!!! Loved it!!

I am really enjoying the stories that this author writes. They are just so great. I think that the last one I read is my favorite until the new one comes out and then I am second guessing myself. I love how the author brings her characters alive. They seem so real to me and I can't get enough of them.
Maddie has wanted her best friend Jessica's dad for awhile. When she finds out that her friend is leaving for three months they come up with a perfect idea. Maddie can take Jessica's place. Maddie thinks that she wants to be a lawyer and the perfect thing would be to work for Kase to see if it's what she wants to do. She also knows it's the perfect time to get to Kase.
Kase knows that it's a bad idea to hire Maddie. He wants her and he knows that it's wrong. How is he going to fight his feelings for her everyday? He knows that he can't give in. She is his daughters friend and she is too young. Seems everything goes out the window when he finds out that she wants him also.
This was an exciting and hot story. I loved it and can't wait for the next book that this author puts out. If you want to see how things go when Jessica finds out then you really need to check this book out for yourself.

This is a fast and sweet story. I loved it.

Maddie is 19 with long blonde hair and goes to work for her friend's dad, Kase, for the summer. They want each other but she's off limits. That doesn't seem to matter much though. This is a good bed time story ;) it's hot and sweet and they fall hard. I enjoyed it.

I blame myself. I didn't realize I had read something from this author before. This author is in desperate need of a proofreader. The story was ok, nothing new, but the typos were so frequent it was hard to read.

My Best Friend's Dad was about 19-year-old Maddie Sullivan and 44-year-old (about to turn 45) Kase Jones, her best friend's father.
Maddie had been in love with Kase since she was sixteen but had never acted on her feelings because she didn't want to hurt her best friend. Kase had apparently shared her feelings, though he never told her or acted on them either for the same reason. However, when Maddie and his daughter Jessica were 19, Jessica was going overseas on vacation. She had been working for her dad at his law office for some time, so she was going to train Maddie to take her place.
Maddie wanted to work for Kase before deciding whether or not she wanted to go to law school. She thought working for him would give her a better idea as to if studying law was the right fit for her. Kase wasn't certain she should work in his office because he didn't know if he could resist her, but he hired her anyway.
Things heated up almost the instant Kase's daughter left the office. It started with a spanking then, after Jess left for her trip, things went off like a rocket and never stopped. There was only a small bit of drama, even less angst, and only a tiny bit of push/pull between the two main characters. Even the fallout with Jessica was brief, leaving Kase and Maddie with an HFN ending.
There were many unresolved issues that left the reader wondering what happened in certain areas. There had been a brief scuffle that never got resolved. There was the thought that Maddie would attend a law school that never got mentioned again. It was things like that which irritated the crap out of me. I don't like loose ends in a story.
It was challenging to get through this short book because the grammatical errors were off the charts straight out of the starting gate. Almost from the first sentence to the very last one, it was obvious that the author had not done much (if any) editing and/or proofreading. The punctuation was almost non-existent, and the sentence structures were badly written. There were as many missing words as missing punctuation marks, which made for a frustrating time. She also used the wrong word in certain places that were obviously incorrect (i.e. taunt instead of taut). The author also used a ton of slang words (Dude, etc) that were just a bit annoying and detracted from the intelligence of the FMC. It made her sound like a surfer rather than a potential law student.
Although it had potential, the whole thing was a bit disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn't because of the relationship between the two MCs. It had everything to do with the mistakes made in writing the book. I couldn't give it more than a one-star rating.

Maddie has been friends with Jessica since they were little girls and has loved her father since she was 16. Kase has started to find Maddie attractive for a couple years but when she started to work for him he couldn't deny his attraction. Nope, not my thing. I keep trying, but maybe I should stop reading Daddy books.
I didn`t understand the beginning, I had a feeling that out of nowhere he was making Maddie come.
Then the story got more interesting. I just don`t understand why grown-ups need to hide their love. I mean they could have told Jessica they were starting to fall in love. The don`t need her permission.
It all worked out in the end, but still…
The smexy was hot though!
What I liked:
HEA and no cheating.

Wow! J.L. Beck is quickly becoming my go to for short, smutty reads. This book is awesome. Of course it features my favorite type of man.... Older! Yum! Kase is one sexy man, who just can't help himself to his daughter Jessica's best friend Maddie. He knows he shouldn't touch her, she is off limits, however the temptation is just to much for him.

Like all J.L. Beck's books, this one is sexy and controversial.
This time, it's daddy and the daughter little best friend. It's a touchy subject but she makes it work and we love every second of it without feeling weird about it!
It's instalove and if you don't like that then stay away from this book. If you happen to love this type of stories stay put and hang on because the sex scenes are intense and steamy hot from the begging.
A HEA story with a strong alpha male and a young inexperienced girl/woman who falls hard for him.
The wrong thing might just be the best decision he has ever made.
If you are feeling in need of a sexy fast paced story get it now!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. wow! Another quick and fun read from Ms Beck. I enjoyed Kase and Mddie's story. Two people who due to outside influences have never let on their attraction to one another. Kase is the father of Maddies best friend, Jessica. Maddie is much younger than Kase. Neither want to hurt Jessica. They finally have the opportunity to let the other know they have always had feelings for each other. The only thing that worries them is how it may affect the relaionship each has with Jessica. This book was great and I loved the HEA.

So, let me start off by saying I absolutely ❤ this cover. It is complete 👀🍬 the overall story though, kind of fell flat for me.
This sounded right up my alley. A girl falling in love with her best friend's dad.. what's not to like right? However, there were quite a few grammar errors to begin with. Then, there was to much back and forth emotions/regrets for me and I was also expecting much more of the daddy kink.
I do like this author though, and will continue to check out more of their work in the future.

This is your older man, younger woman story kind of story. Kase is put on the spot by his daughter to hire her best friend for the summer to be his secretary. Unbeknowing to Kase's daughter Kase has had the hots for Maddie for a while. Maddie, on the other hand, has wanted her best friends dad even longer.

Again J.L. Beck you are a literary genius. This book is hot as hell and sexy as sin. You and pull your characters out of anywhere and make a smoking hot book. You never disappoint us(except making us wa8t for a new book.) You are a true goddess and I love all your books . Maddie and mr. Jones are the perfect match. Thanks for a great story.

Omgeee this is so good. I was hooked from start to finish. Kase and Maddie wowzers. What they have for each, is no way possible that it was going to be off limits. There is no off limits when it comes to love. Loved Jessica's feelings of everything at the end. Thank you J.L Beck for letting me read this amazing book!!!!

This is a quick, hot & sexy read. Maddie has always had a thing for her best friend's dad, Kase, and when she starts working for him, sparks fly. Kase knows that Maddie should be off limits, but can he stay away? It's a quick read that goes from hot to hotter. I couldn't put it down, a MUST READ!!

A short steamy read about a man who falls in love with his daughter's best friend. They try to fight the attraction but it fails and as soon as his daughter goes on vacation they start their taboo affair.
A good read that's short but too the point w/o extra drama and I loved the ending.

Another off the charts hit for J.L.! Read cover to cover as simply COULD NOT put it down! Kase & Maddie really don't hold back with their HOT, CARNAL & EROTIC scenes that will leave you anxious for the next one. MUST add this book to your personal library! I voluntarily read this book for an honest review. Love has no boundaries, and you never know who will fall in love. Unfortunately I missed a little more interest and content, but for those who want something hot sexy as I highly recommend.
