But I'm built for a challenge.
BOSSY: A Virgin CEO Romance is a steamy and sexy international romance with kindle-melting heat. BOSSY has fiery scenes, no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA.
Another quickie read. This one is a marriage of convenience. The beginning was too OTT. They've been married for three years and in that time, they stay completely platonic. They live together but they don't become friends or even hang out casually unless they are socializing. Then out of the blue the H decides he is physically attracted to the h and that it is more convenient to seduce her and remain married then to get a divorce.
Over the course of the book, the H does end up growing on me. He starts to show his softer side and revealing his deeper feeling for his wife. As for the h, she is a strong person, although she had a crush on the H, she didn't become some lovelorn doormat. The H definitely makes up for his behavior by the end and I was happy they were able to stay together and finally live happily ever after.
Ok, I'm not gonna blame the book, maybe this was on me but it simply wasn't what I was in the mood for. From the title I assumed it was going to be one of those virgin-employee-who-is-undervalued-by-her-super hot-older-boss-and-succumbs-to-an-affair-that-ultimately-leads-to-him-realizing-her-worth-and-a-fairy tale-HEA type of stories. It was not.
When I realized it was a "marriage of convenience" plot, I was still on-board because sometimes those are awesome little gems. Bossy, however, completely missed the mark for me. Plus the whole "charismatic Greek billionaire tycoon" is a trope that I OD'ed on via Harlequin when I was in high school. I don't care to read them as an adult.
Jayson Satyros was a rich handsome Greek who was about to take over his family business because his brother and his friend died in a plane crash the only survivor being his brother's daughter who was fifteen. Their family friend Harper daughter of his friend who also died in the plane crash was back from college for the funeral, he was determined to take care of them both he ask Harper to marry him and take care of his niece Sophie until she went off to college but Harper wanted to finish college but Jayson told her that she was penniless and that once Sophie was off to college she would have enough money to go back to college or whatever she wanted to do. They got married immediately their relationship was strictly on paper especially after their wedding night but other than that she was the perfect wife and guardian to Sophie and Sophie loved Harper too. A couple of months before the marriage was suppose to end Jayson realized that he cared a lot for Harper and he wanted the woman she was as his real wife now, he had to get her to feel the same way he does so he started trying to seduce her oh she caught on to what he was doing she just wanted to know why because she didn't want to play the games with him she wanted to go back to college and she tried to convince herself she didn't love him anymore but when he kissed her at a dinner party on a yacht with some friends she wasn't so sure. Lots of problems and interesting twist come up even the ex fiancee' who was determined to win Jayson back and Jayson only wanted his wife but was doing a poor job of proving that to Harper.
Bossy is a hot older man/younger woman romance. Harper enters into a marriage of convenience with Jayson that's to last for 3 years. She had a crush on him when she was younger, but he never saw her as anything but a young girl so she eventually got over it. Now, she's to be married to him in order to help his younger niece, Sophie, grieve and move on after Sophie's parents die in the same crash that killed Harper's father.
While I liked Bossy, and thought it was steamy, it felt a bit old fashioned, like an old school Harlequin that my mom used to read. And Jayson, quite frankly, is a serious asshole for jerking Harper around so much. For 3 years he doesn't look twice at her, even coldly rejects her advances on their wedding night, then all the sudden out of the blue, he decides he's attracted to her and doesn't want to divorce her in a few months time when their contract is up. Yep, that's right, there was an actual contract written up when they married that set out the terms of their marriage. Ugh, contracts for a marriage or a relationship is one of my pet peeves, I absolutely HATE those kind of setups. So, he sets out to seduce her, disregarding any feelings she may or may not have for him. And, of course, there's OW bullshit that drives poor Harper crazy.
If Jayson hadn't been so much of a dick, if there hadn't been a stupid contract, and if it didn't feel a bit old school, I probably could have given this a 5 star review. It's steamy, well written, and I like Harper and Sophie, just not Jayson.
This story had potential, however, whenever I prepare to get emotional for the h, the plot just became slow or sth just stop me felt for h. And the drama, last too long and annoyed. Can H explain it sooner already?
Harper and Jayson entered into a marriage of convenience almost three years ago and the time for their divorce is fast approaching. Harper has done a good job of hiding her feelings for Jayson since being rejected on her wedding night and is starting to plan her new life away from her controlling husband. Jayson, however, is finally realising that there’s more to his wife than he thought. So when he sets about seducing her, just how will she respond?
Another quick and easy read by Jess Bentley. The plot isn’t bad and the characters are fairly well written. Harper is a much more likeable character than her counterpart, but that’s to be expected given the roles they play. Thankfully for Harper, Jayson is able to learn from his mistakes. I really, really disliked the reason behind Harper becoming pregnant, especially given the outcome but Jayson isn’t so bad, just desperate and a little stupid. They say love makes you do stupid things, and for Jayson that just might be true.
Profanity: Occasional Sexual content: Occasional and detailed Violence: Negligible
This is book 2 in the series. Each book is a stand alone. I liked this story as well as this authors writing. I have read other books by this author and liked the writing style as well as the connection to the characters. Overview. Harper just lost her father, the only family member she had left. She had to come to her fathers company to talk to Jayson the new owner. Jayson was grieving too since his brother and his brothers wife were killed in the plane accident with Harper's dad. The only survivor was his Niece Sophia. Now he has to raise Sophia and he wants to give her and Harper a better and stable life. So he offers to Marry Harper for 3 years until Sophia goes to college. In that time Harper helps run the social side and charitable stuff for the company and take care of Sophia. But love was not on the table, that is until 3 months before Sophia goes to college. Now he wants Harper as a real Wife. But how can they turn their fake marriage into a real one?
Quickie romance starting from a mutual love of an orphaned teen. HEA. Standalone. Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3/5: Romance with some sex scenes or behind closed-door, with generally milder language. Tropes: Virgin, Billionaire, Marriage of Convenience, Age Gap, Alpha Male, Setting: Wealthy Greek island Subplots beyond the main & romantic plotlines: It’s a short, so no, but there are fun socialite dynamics included. Character Harper: Acquiescent, Jealous, Youthful, Wife Character Jayson: Less than scrupulous, Family-oriented, Domineering, CEO Best Petty Gossip: Oh girl, gossiping about the wife is so juicy!
Note: I aim to honor the author’s hard work for their books I complete, by accentuating their strengths while refraining from negative critiques.
I'm on the fence with this one. Jess Bentley is a great writer who can usually spin a terrific tale...but I think it might have been better if Jayson had been more faithful to Harper--even if it was a marriage of convenience. I think it took away from the idealism of the story to have Jayson acting/flaunting these other women even if initially didn't care for Harper. Jayson's behavior was definitely cheating in my book.
But...all's well that ends well, so at least we had the prerequisite HEA. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was a bit disappointed in the story execution.
I admit, I would have given it five stars but I really got a little confused at the beginning. In fact I was really at a loss because it seemed as if the characters didn't fit quite well in the story. Since I’m a curious person I went further and the story finally developed and everything made sense. Jayson is an inscrutable character while Harper is weak but it's understandable because she has always had a crush on him. So when he proposes marriage as a reciprocal bargain she accepts without hesitation. The scenes are definitely hot and the temperature rises at a certain point. I think it is a book worth reading even if the beginning is so and so.
The story line had some serious potential and it was sooo realistic but a 3 is all I can give this book. A generous three at that since it was good enough for me to power through to the end. Author builds up the sexual tension beautifully but when they actually go for it it feels like a gloss over. Things are rushed from event to event. And while I am usually not a stickler for grammar, there is an increasing amount of mistakes after about the halfway point of the book. Lastly I fell like the title of the book doesn't really match the story because while the Male MC has a strong personality he doesn't actually boss the Female MC around.

This book has potential, but there were some parts that (in my opinion) need more explanation. The plot line was good, it just needed at little more added here and there. If some of the scenes had more explanation (like exactly how and why they married in the first place) I would give it more stars. The H was a bigger asshole than I wanted him to be. The h needed to express herself better. Overall, it was okay but I wouldn't re-read it.
I really enjoyed this story about a girl who has very high hopes for an arranged marriage only to be devastated when she’s cruelly rejected on her wedding night. Three years later, almost to the end of their arraignment, her husband has a change of heart. She’s been trying to protect herself from being hurt all this time and isn’t convinced she wants to take another chance this late in the game. The hero’s a butthole but mostly redeems himself by the end. Satisfying.
I really enjoyed this book, Jayson and Harper's story is one that keeps you on your toes and also makes you smile thru it all . A much older CEO has his life. Hanged when his brother dies and he has to take responsibility of his niece . And with that being said Jayson gives a proposition to Harper to help him raise his niece Sophie . Really good story
Arc review for honest review. after a lot of death on both ends jayson asked Harper's be his fake wife now he wishes for more .this is a very cute story of how two people learn to know each other.
It took me a while to get into this story. I wish there were at least glimpses of these characters from the past, before the opening chapters. Anything to pave the way for their future relationship would have been welcomed. Instead, I felt absolutely no chemistry between Jayson and Harper. Even when the plot jumped us ahead three years I didn't feel any connection between them. They might as well have been strangers. When Jayson finally speaks to Harper about what he wants to happen after Sophie leaves for college, I at last begin to feel something between them. The story picks up from there. Some moments in the story shine but overall it's a little lackluster. I guess I just wanted more spice. I liked the HEA. I much preferred Jess's book, King, which is a darker, sexier story. I think this story is better than a three star rating but not quite a four star, so I am giving it 3.5 stars.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I loved the deep emotional plot that ran strongly through this story. I loved the characters and the way they struggled to deal with heavy issues. There were no easy resolutions here and we got to live the changes as the characters did. The depth of the love the 3 main characters shared through a common devastating loss made the story that much stronger. Although it was intensive reading, the care that the author took to show both sides through alternating first person points of view, made reading this story more realistic because we got the whole story, as it happened.
Okay, so this one I really liked. Jayson and Harper start out with a three-year marriage of convenience. You are taken to the end of the three years in chapter 2 where they are in the summer before they are able to get divorced (read the book to find out why) and Jayson is thinking maybe he should stay married to this wonderful woman he has been married to. When he starts acting weird to Harper, she can't figure out what is going on. There is drama and suspense and love. This is a really great book. I really enjoyed this one. :)

Harper and Jayson are put together by a tragedy. Jayson offers to marry Harper for two reason. 1: to help her financially because her father has dies and left her nothing, 2. to help take care of his niece because of the passing of her parents. Harper agrees to the marriage. She has a crush on Jayson but Jayson does not have those feelings for her. As the time comes for their agreement to end Jayson realizes that he has a thing for Harper. Harper has pushed all of her feelings for Jayson in a box and tries to get past them. She tries very hard not the let the new feelings that Jayson has for her affect her. Only she can not fight them. Things from Jayson past comes to back to hurt both of them. Can they get past it make their fake marriage into a real one?
Bossy, by Jess Bentley, is a quick read. A cute virgin/CEO story. Started as a temporary position, but morphs into more. I read in a couple hours, it was fun and the characters were well thought out.
When Harper agrees to be Jayson's wife it is on paper only and for the benefit of his niece, Sophie, who just lost her family in the same plane crash that Harper lost her father with a three year end date. What neither counted on was not wanting the marriage to end and to make it more than on paper, but it will not be easy to get what they both want without laying everything on the line, especially with outside forces bent on breaking them up. Harper an Jayson are electric together and yet when Harper needs Jayson the most he will drop everything to be at her side and make her smile again. I loved Harper and Jayson's story it was sweet, hot, sad, sometimes frustrating but had me hooked from page one until the end. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book, this is my favourite from Jess Bentley yet. I thoroughly enjoyed Harper and Jayson's story. Both were good characters that both had real flaws. It was well written and flowed nicely. Maia was a piece of work and I wish she got what was coming to her, such a b@#$%! It was a sweet and sexy romance and I am looking forward to reading more from Jess Bentley!
