It was so good, almost perfect... until right at the end Will made out with his ex Mish at the club right in front of Zoe. That was the end for me. She saw the whole thing and Will knew she was there. His excuse " I don't know why I did it" he says he realized too late what he was doing and he didn't mean it BUT he had his hands on her waist and he kissed her back. She took him back which is hard to believe after what she went through with Jason. It just killed the good feelings I had. He does apologize but what the heck. I was so aggravated by Will's actions. Ugh.

When Zoe Granger started playing guitar to get over her heartbreak, she never thought that her band would hit it big. Now she's on the road with indie legend Will Strickland—who can't keep his eyes off her. Can she trust a rock star with her heart?

And apparently, she can...😉

so...
Zoe was in a two years long relationship with a douche who cheated on her for the last six months then came home one day and tell her he's getting married in a week with the mentioned other woman. Zoe breaks in anger and spills her pain too, but then the asshole hits her and pushes her down the stairs and leaves her with a heavily broken arm lying there on the staircase...
BUT not only does that breaks Zoe, the fact that the fucking asshole used her healing time in hospital to turn over all of their friends against Zoe, further more shatters her soul into pieces.

The only one who stood and still stands by her side is her childhood friend Dylan aka Dee, a free spirited musician who pulls Zoe out from the hell and talks her into forming a band.

So her healing path begins through making music, writing lyrics and just gaining her inner strength back...and she realizes that she can do it freely, completely and utterly on her own...with the support of her best friend.

But then, she meets the bass player of another band in the uprising path, Will Strickland, whose reputation preceeds him, but as we all know, things are NOT what they seem at first glance, right?!

But of course, he wears his own scars, as well...and there's a story behind it...

but the connectiona dn the attraction they feel for each other will have to endure a lot of push and pull, here and there, one step forward but a thousand steps back, the return of their ex-es (which was quite an unnecessary shot, and totally predictable but it served the purpose of building up the tension) will either harden their hearts to new love or it will bring them together in acceptance and forgivness?

it's a HEA, so you know what they chose *wink*

I love this author, I have read her books with MMA settings and I loved them. Her characters are damaged and hurt and they have to find their way to heal, and accept that the world does go on and they will find their own way back to love...eventually ;)
and they usually do that through a lot of tension and angst in between.

Emotionally immature H...accidentally fell onto his ex’s lips.

Authors once wrote strong female lead characters that stood by their convictions, not led by their hormones. Forgiveness and trust had to be re-earned.

“But what Will was doing was worse. His hands were on her hips, and he leaned toward her as if he was trying to listen to what she was saying over the loud music, but she pushed herself forward and kissed him.
“Will didn’t pull back, and for one horrible second, I witnessed him kissing her back.”

Zoe
“I let myself care, and all it did was this. If you do it once, then it’s only a matter of time before it happens again. I won’t be that person ever again. I won’t let anyone else be that person.” I took a few steps back. “Stay away from me”.

An hour later...or two, her abusive ex shows up:

“You cheated on me for six months, and then when you finally had the guts to come clean, you hit me and then pushed me down the stairs. You left me there! You’re nothing but a heartless pr*ck.”
“Zoe, I apologized for hitting you. I didn’t mean it. I didn’t.”
“Once a hitter, always a hitter.”
“I lay there alone in the dark with a bone sticking out of my arm in agony! You lied to everyone and destroyed my life, Jason. I feel nothing but hate for you.”

Jason was seething, and I knew I’d struck a nerve. Was this the reason this Deb was divorcing him? Had he shown his true colors to her, as well?
“You fell,” he said. “How many times do I have to explain it to you?” Was he so delusional that he convinced himself his lies were the truth?
“Does it help you sleep at night? Knowing that you broke my arm and lied to everyone about it? Knowing you destroyed my life?”

After a skirmish and her friend Dee and Will’s rescue, he is arrested and she goes home with Will:::

“She was my girlfriend. We’d been together for around three years.”
I’d been with Jason for almost two years. I knew a long relationship like that would’ve had to be serious. We’d both had someone before, but it still hurt that he’d loved someone else. “What’s her deal?”
“Mish is a model. She does stuff like Fashion Week, photo shoots, and sometimes goes overseas. About two years ago now, she was opening a show for some big designer in Sydney. It was a big deal, so I flew up to surprise her. Every time she’d go away, she’d screw her way through any male model she came across.”
“You walked in on her?”
“In the throws.”

I read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Zoe, a young woman who escaped an abusive relationship and two tears later she is still trying to move on. She is best friends with Dee and he was the only person to stand by her and try to help her move on. Dee plays guitar and busks for money. One night at a club while watching a local band, The Stabs, Dee asks Zoe to form a band with a couple of friends. Zoe agrees and even though she is scared, she opens up to her friends and plays with them. Zoe also has a bit of a crush on a member of The Stabs named Will and they have caught each others eye even though Zoe has no interest in dating. Dee books them a gig opening for The Stabs and Zoe and Will cross paths again. Will tries to talk to her but she runs. When Zoe and the boys are asked to be the opening act on tour with The Stabs, they agree and Zoe will have to deal with her crush on Will and with his advances. I liked this story and I really felt for Zoe, after being in an abusive relationship where no one believed her and was harassed afterward was enough to make her shut down and not trust anyone. It was a good story about how Will won her trust by being a friend first. I would like to see more of the characters in spin-off books. Great one!

I am so disappointed in this story. It was so good for 12 chapters and then it all fell apart. Zoe is the lead singer for the band, Devil's Tattoo, and Will is the lead singer for the Stubs. Both are dealing with a painful experience from their past, but Zoey's seems to have her in a stranglehold. What they have in common is the ability to lose themselves in the joy of writing and performing their music. When they go on tour together, they sizzle and that chemistry quickly explodes into sheer desire. It's wonderful to watch as their passion grows, but then near the end my connection to them died. Will receives some texts at the end of the tour and pulls away from Zoey. The next time they see one another, he's still "unavailable" and Zoey finally gets up the courage to ask him what's wrong. "Don't worry about it. It's only you." Out of the blue, Will's "one that got away" returns to reclaim him. Zoey found them at a bar in a passionate kiss with Will holding her hips. After this, there was nothing he could do or say that would have me believing that he loved Zoey, when he was clearly not over his ex. Of course they get back together with no grovel, not even a real apology, but with a pathetic case of BBS. What was a 4-5* read became a 3* or less.

Entertaining read. Started a bit rough and confusing for me, so it took me until the band (The Devil's Tattoo) got going to get into it. Once on tour and all was happening, I quite enjoyed myself. I liked Zoe and her best friend Dee. Their relationship was one of extreme closeness, but not crossing the romantic line. He was always there for her. She was strong, but had been hurt before, so had up many walls to protect her heart. I loved the song lyrics, btw. She was tough, but very vulnerable under that veneer. Will was an immediate interest and instant attraction for her. He was also in a band and they ended up touring together. I would've liked more open and honest conversations from the two of them, but they were both trying to avoid the pitfalls of a broken relationship, so they were hiding some parts of themselves. I don't like how Will handles coming home or Mish. I love the handling of Jason. The end was rather lovely.

There is Zoe who has had a hard time in life but is brought into a new band, Devil's Tattoo, that takes off. She has been crushing on Will from a different band for a while and when she ends up touring with them it gets interesting. Will is a womanizer and a bit full of himself but when he see Zoe for the first time , it was like BAM, and he can't stop thinking about here. Will they be able to overcome their own issues to be together? Does Will blow it? Can Zoe let go of her past relationships and try with Will? You'll need to read the book to find out. I really like this book. There is good character development and story line that keeps you reading.

After a heartbreak, Zoe turned to the comfort of music, but never dreamed of getting on stage. When she develops a crush on a member of a band, her best friend talks her into performing. Will Will Strickland be just like her ex? Will they both be able to overcome past heartbreak to give their future a chance?

Great read! There were times that I wanted to strangle both Zoe and Will, but when their pasts were explained it was a little more understandable of their reactions. I do think that Will messed up with how he went about his ex, but when it counted he was able to explain and defend Zoe. There were times when I was confused by her relationship with Dee, but they both explained time and again they were brother and sister. Definitely will read this author again!

This is one dark romance tale; full of anger, pain, abuse, and fear. It's an amazing story...tough to read in some places, but wonderfully written. The characters are multi dimensional--and you're right there with them every step of the way. The journey towards the HEA is painful...and it makes your heart heart for these characters. This is one rock star romance you're going to want right now. I'd say 1-Click this bad boy today! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was blown away!)

Two wounded hearts find comfort in each other. Zoe's heartbreak ended up being the catalyst for a successful singing career. It also leads her to Will whose also lost at love. The attraction builds and the chemistry is off the charts. Lots of suspense, angst and drama along the way but in the end there's an HEA. Great story and one that was easy to read. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review it.

Undeniable....

Devoured this book literally couldn't put my kindle down. This book had an awesome storyline. I really enjoyed the characters, circumstances, hot sex scenes and the interplay between and lol moments between characters. And it being a Rocker book actually having them show the song writing and process of making the songs. This was just a really amazing read.

The Devil's Tattoo (ARC) by Amity Cross: ***** good story
This story starts out with a lot of randomness, but soon gels and comes together nicely. There's a lot of sizzle as the sexual tension builds, along with friends that have your back. Some heartbreak, some angst, a nice HEA. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book.

(2017) Tiivistahtinen rock-romanssi, sopivasti draamaa ja tiuhenevaa tunnelmaa.
A hot rock romance with enough drama that you just have to read it soon, without letting go for a minute. Looking for next Amity Cross book...!
I read it second time, and yes, worth five hot stars again. I admire this author’s skill to do all of this: to write an unique story, to develope it perfectly to top, to create a character a reader really can know and feel... With one word: perfect!
