What if you really were transported to a fantasy world and expected to kill monsters to survive? No special abilities, no OP weapons, no status screen to boost your stats and no cheat mode. Never mind finding the dragon’s treasure or defeating the Demon Lord, you only need to worry about one thing—how to stay alive.
A group of British teenagers wake up in a strange, fantastical land with creatures from myth and legend. They are given archaic weapons they don't know how to use and told to do their best.
Convinced it has to be some kind of virtual reality RPG, all the people summoned form parties and set off on their adventures, leaving behind the people nobody wants in their group.
Story of my life, thinks Colin.
'How To Avoid Death On A Daily Basis' is an ongoing serial with volumes releasing every two-three months.
It looks like a game. It feels like a game. It isn't a game.
Book Five
A whole new world full of horrible things to avoid. A world where death is the least of Colin's problems.
This whole book involves time traveling. The story itself was a great adventure, and the main characters are nicely fleshed out at this point. We'll see some character growth, largely in Claire and Jenny, as Colin is still wondering how he and his friends manage to stay alive with all the insane shenanigans that plague them. Not to say that Colin's other friends do not show up, but it is Claire's and Jenny's turn to steal some of the spotlight from Colin. I truly enjoyed this book and i'm looking forward to reading the next ones in the series.
Colin and Co. find themselves in yet another fine mess, as they are transported to the Underworld they have been warned about.
I found this volume a little less enjoyable than the others because it was more philosophical and not as adventuresome, but it still kept me highly entertained.
Alas, I have come to the end of available adventures for our stalwart heroes, but I look forward to the next book's release. :)
This has to be the strangest of the avoiding death on a daily basis books yet. It's amusing to be sure, but interestingly enough, there wasn't a whole lot of avoiding death in this one. No clue where the story is going from here, but it's likely it will be interesting, so I'm off to read the next one.
I’ve decided that the real pull of these books is that we’ve all felt like the dorks others put down at some point in our lives. We may not be as bitter as Colin but the unwelcome blush, putting a foot wrong, and still feeling smarter than the dross of humanity is something recognizable and sympathetic. Still funny. Still a good read.
Omg! What a tale, a story an imagination = such a talented and gifted writer!!!! I've read every single book of this series except for the #6 book and I'm afraid to as I don't want it to end!!! I'm addicted to this and have not been able to put it down!!! Please keep going!!!!! Love love love it!!
Another good installment in this series. I continue to look forward to the next books. I have to give the author credit, his character development is excellent. Great job.
LRPG fiction is great with a talented writer and a POV with witty snark. Improbable and hilarious situations populating a world that is marked satire of all the fantasy tropes in genre fiction. Hugely fun and funny.
Ok so the was a great addition to the series and like all the others leaves you wanting more but that ending just made the futures fanboy in me scream Death by Snu Snu
