When Lily and her mother move to a small Cornish village she never expected it to be any different from their previous moves. But truths she'd lived her whole life believing will be shattered. Myths will become reality and lies will be exposed. Lily is not alone though. Four boys, she meets at college, Nate, Matt, Josh, and Jake aren't quite what they seem and will change Lily's entire life. Whether she wants them to or not. Lily, Book 1 in The Seer Series, a Reverse Harem paranormal romance. Denial, Book 2 in The Seer Series, is now available. Lily was previously released in the limited edition anthology Falling For Them Vol.1 (No longer available)
Okay so everybody knows that reverse harems are...shall we say...an acquired taste. You have to be okay with a girl being torn between guys and the idea that all of these dudes are sort of alright with all being in each others' and her business all the fucking time.
But this one is different in a way.
Yes, all the boys get all gaga over the girl. Yes, they fight. Yes, the girl is a special snowflake.
There is a fantasy element here that keeps it somewhat fresh. It is like going from only reading highland romance novels to having one that's also got time travel. The difference is just enough to keep it from being confused with the dozens of other reverse harems.
But let's face it. You are either going to love this book or hate it. There's nothing in between here so I'm not going to try to sway anybody.
This story is about teenagers. They are hormonal and possessive and they make mistakes. The boys bicker and don't quite know what they are doing. They spend an hour on the internet and call it "researching". There is a sense of innocence about this book despite the genre. Ultimately, that makes the difference.
There are books in this world that are filled with dark things, filled with hate and depression and loneliness. Everybody dies or they end up alone. People get sick because that's real life and you have to deal with it. This book is not about real life. It is about fantasy and all of this attention being heaped on one person. It is about a girl who thinks that she is broken that finds herself being supported instead of coddled (believe me there is a difference). It's about finding hope in friendships and bonding between people.
And sometimes, you just need something like that in your life.
I'm not going to say that this book is a must read because it isn't. It brought a smile to my face in some otherwise pretty rough times and that's why I enjoyed it. After all, isn't that one of the main reasons that we read?
Hello random internet GR readers of reviews, would you like to borrow this book? I don’t recommend it but have the ability to loan this one out once, so you will not have to spend a precious $1.. hmu in the comments if that’s your jam.
I read the free sample since this one was not KU eligible. The sample was shaky but I gave it the benefit since it wasn’t bad. I gave this one to 40% before I gave it up as too immature. 3DNFs in a row. This genre is like bad crack. Lots of bad trips.
There’s just something...off about the way this book is written. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it’s almost like the author is VERY new to writing, yet possesses a pretty good understanding of the English language: technically, there’s very little wrong with how it is written, but (I at least) could not connect with the writing AT ALL. I can almost physically FEEL the distance between me and the pages, and no matter how hard I tried, something just rubbed me the wrong way, and I couldn’t get into the story. Add to that that some expressions seem not-quite-right, and the fact that her first meetings with the guys just feel...empty, and I just personally could not go on.
Maybe it’ll speak to some people, but this book unfortunately did not speak to me.
3.5-3.75 This story was definitely intriguing. The storyline isn't necessarily an unique one. Sheltered girl moves into town only to discover the life she's always known might have been a lie. Meets 4 fast friends (guys) who know what she is and want to protect her. That being said the author had a unique take on the old story and by the end I was really enjoying the mystery. Ok ... So the reason I didn't rate this higher was the pacing was SOoooooo slow! It really did take until the end of the story to get me excited. I'm on the fence whether I'll continue not not.
2/29/24- Surprisingly good. This held my attention and I kept thinking about when I was doing other things. All the characters are tolerable so far, but the twins are my favorite with how fast they claimed her as their future life partner.
I'm especially intrigued by the obvious bad guy who got his own POV at the very end; or maybe he's a red herring? I'm really struggling to decide if his intentions are dark and somewhat romantic or dark and eventually harmful to the heroine. I kind of want her to get with the villain, too. What's one more?
When I read this story I could imagine this little town and these characters just flew off of the pages and became real. If I didn't love fae before I am crushing on sexy fairy guys now!
i love reading books about Fae and i loved this book its about Lilly who mother is an artist and has moved around at lot until she is asked to commission a series of painting through out the different season for the crowder manor which means they will have to stay in cornwall until the paintings are done. Lilly has found it hard to make friend because off how much they have moved and it has never bother her until they move to Trenance were she meets four guys Nate , Matt and the twins Josh and jake. To start off with they get of to a rocky start but they very quickly become friend and Lilly feels like she final belongs and has four hot guys as friend but the guys have a secret and will Lilly believe them when they tell her.But Lilly is not a normal girl she has epilepsy but her seizure have changed since she meet the guys and she is worried that she is going mad but they all want to help her.i loved the charters and the story was fun to read with a dark side coming in at the end i would recommend you go and read this this book as i really enjoyed it and i dont have to wait for the second book because it is already out looking forward to seeing what happens next loved it.
i dont write reviews but i HAVE to say this ‘How do you unread a book’ honestly. i cant even deal with this book. FMC is dumber than a bag of rocks. she was literally trying to defend a guy who was clearly trying to hang out with her and he was like obviously older and she’s in her school uniform which means she could be under age like she’s stupid. most of this book is literally her just hanging out with the guys it feels like not even a week has passed. In this entire book nothing happens and then at the end you get the point of view of like the villain.
this book makes me so mad because it had so much potential and the author just did not deliver at all so please save yourself and don’t read this book don’t read this book please please I’m begging you guys save yourself and don’t read this book you’re literally going to be so mad I wish I DNF’ed it. I wish that I didn’t finish it because then I would’ve just been like ‘oh that book wasn’t good enough for me to finish whatever’ but now I’m like ‘oh this book literally makes me so mad and now I wanna go to bed because it’s like 2 AM but I can’t because this book infuriates me’.
This book was a decent start to the series. It was originally part of an anthology, so it's more of a novella vs. novel. I didn't mind it's small page count, because we were able to get a general breakdown of the setting, and great character-building (I'm referring to Lily's guys here).
All the guys were full of life and mostly all stood out (the twins sometimes confused me). I loved all their personalities and how strong their group dynamic was. I wished that Lily's character was fleshed out more. If the guy's build wasn't so amazing, and I didn't constantly compare Lily and them, I might have thought her build was good for a first book.
I'm excited to learn more about the world, the magics, and especially eager to learn more about Drew. His POV at the end of the book was quite nail-bitey. I'm also looking forward to more Nate, Matt, Josh and Jake. **Pssss... Nate's my fav <3
This was my second time reading Lily by R.M Walker. It’s been a while since I read it so I decided to re read and it’s still as good as I remember. This story follows Lily a girl who just moved again for the millionth time. Every year at the end of an academic year Lily and her mom move. Lily rarely makes friends but this small town in Cornish is different. Lily makes friends with four guy Nate, Matt, and twins Jake and Josh. The guys take an interest in Lily and become fast friends with her. The boys though hold a secret which does come to light in this book. Lily has epilepsy but something has changed when she has a seizure. Something dark is lurking around Lily and we get a glimpse at the darkness. I really recommend this book if you like RH, supernatural elements, and a bit of comedy. This book made we laugh so hard and it also made me swoon. Definitely recommend you check this book out. It gets four stars from me.
This was a great book to introduce the Seer Series! Lily has been moving her entire life, never staying in one place more than a year. Just her and her mom, she's used to the constant movement, not really bothering to make friends that she'll just have to leave in the end. But, after moving to a new home at the end of the summer and starting her last year of school before university, Lily meets four boys, Nate, Matt, Josh and Jake. Although some get off to a rocky start *laughs* the four boys quickly become friends to Lily, even as she is wary of making friendships she believes will not last. But, these aren't just any normal guys, and even as she doesn't want to believe it, Lily isn't just a normal girl. This was a great first book in the series and I can't wait to learn more about what Lily and the guys are and what else is out there.
Lily: Book 1 of The Seer Series By: R.M. Walker 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
******** May Contain Some Spoilers ********
I will try my absolute best to keep spoilers to a minimum or completely out of my review. Sometimes it can be hard to do so.
This is a very intriguing storyline. A somewhat normal girl, Lily, has epilepsy. Lily's mother moves them to a new location every year. After moving to a place and starting her last year of school, Lily's life starts to change. Josh, Jack, Matt, and Nate take an instant liking to Lily. As time goes by, they realize that something is different about Lily. This book is full of friendship, fear, secrets, and weirdness. Following Lily and the guys as they try to solve the mystery that is Lily is captivating.
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! ••••••
Lilly's mother is an artist and moves them basically once a year. Lilly suffers from epilepsy and can't really be on her own so she doesn't say anything about all of the moving. When they move to Cornwall Lilly finds herself by 4 boys almost immediately, and she doesn't mind it. They soon suspect that Lily does not have epilepsy and might be fae like them.
This was just ok. Nothing seemed to bother Lily at all and then all of a sudden she blew up at things without a thought. I know we are told how great Lily is and that's why the boys like her but I don't really see any of the traits they list. But, the story was kind of interesting and I might give the second book a try.
I first read Lily as part of the Falling For Them anthology. Lily is the novella that introduces Lily and her guys. I really like Lily. Her mom is an artist, and they have been moving every year, sometimes more that once, as her mother gets commissions. It is Lily’s last year of school, and as she starts at the new school, she meets four interesting and hot guys - Matthew, Nate, Josh, and Jake. While some mysteries are revealed to Lily, this story really sets up the rest of the series. Thankfully the next book is out now, so off to read that :)
I enjoyed this book, somewhat. My main issue was the plot. The story was interesting, but I finished the book with the feeling that nothing had been accomplished or resolved. There were quite a lot of pages for little to no excitement. The story building I understand, it's just that it took way to long to get to the climax, which wasn't very climatic. I'm probably not going to read the next book.
I enjoyed this short read, but it was written very much on the young adult side of the spectrum, and was unexpectedly short. The story was just beginning to get interacting when it cut off abruptly for book two. However, since I support new authors I am buying book two to see if it hooks me. This book would be good reading if you wanted a light read for a short plane flight.
This was great series I stopped after Book 3 but may reread at a later date. Lovely sweet and sexy ya romance I would have liked to have seen a bit more character development to make them feel a bit more 3D. I think that would have enhanced the romance too. I didn't like the constant mystery surrounding the secondary characters you're not quite sure who to trust but I suppose that keeps things interesting.
I really enjoyed how this book was written. The story flowed very well and kept you guessing as to what would happened next. This is a story that will have you addicted with all the suspense and introduction of people to the story. This is a cliffhanger that will definitely have you looking for more. If you enjoy paranormal romance then this is your story.
I love a well written RH book!! This one stayed in between PG13 and NC17. If you're looking for steamy this isn't it. But it was cute. And hilarious. A quick read. Favorite parts: Master Jedi intro, almost getting pee'd on, mom asking why she would talk to boys, and the whisper scene about drugged coffee!! Lily was so awkward I wanted to hug her.
Lily has epilepsy and it controls her life. Her mother is a travelling artist, so between her illness and the upheaval she's had no stability. Things are changing. She's made friends quickly for once and they're devoted to her. Four gorgeous boys have their sights and hearts set on her. But they're not the only ones watching her.
Paranormal. Ya. Fae. Rh. 4 fae guys. Lily has moved around every year of her life. Her mother is an artist with wanderlust. So when they stop in this new town and she makes friends she doesn't want to leave. The trope of paranormal girl not knowing she's paranormal and someone's after her power. 👍
Lily had good storyline and an interesting mix of people, but the writing style was more "tell" than "show", so I found the book easy to put down while I did other things, and read another book. It ends, not so much on a cliffhanger as with a feeling of being incomplete. My 3.5 is rounded up due to some nice plot twists.
This was a good one, didn't want to put it down. It was shorter than I like, but I saw the second book was full length so I went ahead and got this one. Glad I did. I do hope to see more relationship building in the second book.
