Horseshoe Home Ranch #4
Between the Reins
Can Owen and Natalie mend broken bridges in order to have a second chance at love?
Twelve years ago, Owen Carr left Gold Valley—and his long-time girlfriend—in favor of a country music career in Nashville. With one platinum album and a number one hit single under his belt, he returned after things went wrong with his manager and his record label. When he suddenly becomes a father to his eight-year-old niece, he’s in way over his head.
He needs a nanny to care for Marie so he can keep up with the demands of his busy job at Silver Creek—and Natalie Ringold is a godsend. She can cook, she cleans, Marie loves her—and she just so happens to be the long-time girlfriend that Owen hasn’t made amends with. Yet.
Married and divorced, Natalie teaches ballet at the dance studio in Gold Valley, but she never auditioned for the professional company the way she dreamed of doing. With Owen back, she realizes all the opportunities she missed out on when he left all those years ago—including a future with him. Can they mend broken bridges in order to have a second chance at love?

After having an intense relationship together when they were younger, Owen & Natalie find themselves coming face-to-face once again as Owen is looking for a nanny for his eight-year-old niece. Although sparks fly will they become what they once were? Will they just unite to give Marie the childhood she deserves? Grab your copy today guaranteed you won't be disappointed. Many ups and downs ins and outs in this book. Could NOT put it down. Liz OUTDID HERSELF once again.

This is a beautiful romance about second chances.
The twists and turns of the story against the background of Silver Creek and Gold Valley, bring it to life.
The inspiration from this story is to embrace the gospel, don't take faith for granted and that you need to care for your faith.
I highly recommend this book for those who love Christian romances.

The story of Owen and Natalie follows a path through grief, forgiveness, and personal journeys of faith and self discovery.
Owen left 12 years ago to pursue his dreams, abandoning his family and Natalie whom he had made promises of a future together. Since that time, although he had reached a measure of success, he'd also experienced disappointment and great loss in the death of his sister and brother in law. Now, assuming the responsibility of his niece, he has to create a new life and future for not only himself, but his niece as well.
Natalie Lower Ringold has never quite gotten over Owen Carr. Since he left 12 years ago, she did manage to complete her dancing degree, but she never auditioned for the ballet company. She tried moving on by marrying another man, but that ended in divorce. Struggling financially, she responds to Owen's ad for a nanny. Will this provide the second chance she wants? Is there hope for a second chance between them?
I enjoyed reading about Owen and Natalie. They had a lot of issues to wade through. Each had to decide who they were both as an individual and as a couple. Mingled through their relationship struggles is the grief that Owen and his family are dealing with over the loss of his sister and brother in law. I think that the author was very respectful and expressed the emotions well. In the end, I felt that I had gotten to know the characters and appreciate what they were dealing with and how they handled the situation. It was a good and quick read for me mainly because I was drawn into the story line and felt invested in it.

One hit wonder, Owen Carr had walked away from the bright lights and promise of Nashville to return to his roots in Montana. He’s carved a new life with his niece Marie and the boys at Silver Creek. But is has some unfinished business from his past.
Natalie Lower Ringold turned to community service and teaching to fill the void Owen left in her life when he left. She was hoping, praying for a second chance with him. “She’d seen enough of him walking away to last her a lifetime.” She had two loves in her life, cooking and dancing. “They kept the thoughts of failure and loneliness at bay.”
“The boys needed to know a world still existed beyond Silver Creek. A world they were expected to return to, live in, to make a contribution.” He followed his dreams while she’d abandoned hers. The past slips between them, memories together, heartaches apart. She’s spent the last twelve years on hold, waiting for him to return to her.
I adored this tender and romantic story of learning, growing, and letting go. Natalie and Owen learn to rely on their faith and trust in a merciful God. Along the way, they find the strength to forgive and trust again. Fun scenes and kid antics added humor and freshness to this story.

A gentle second chances romance, Between the Reins speaks of a very real situation between real people. In life so many mistakes are made and we hurt people with the decisions we make, not realising the implications until years later. Feeling trapped, Owen left town without telling Natalie to pursue his music career. However, life also has a way of tipping you up and forcing you to face up to your errors and putting you back on the right path. When Natalie comes back into Owen's life, it isn't without complications. He also has Marie to take care of, not to mention an adorable dog and the high risk boys he mentors. It takes time for both Owen and Natalie to work through their confusion and with a little girl to take into account, they can't afford to make mistakes. Then of course there are the parents. No parent likes to see their kids getting hurt, so not only has Owen got to overcome the pain he caused Natalie all those years ago, but to make amends with her parents as well. I enjoyed this book, the characters and the way in which it portrayed how different people influence our lives, including a group of young boys who were willing to take a chance. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

You'd think by now I'd have learned to expect a deeply emotional read from a Liz Isaacson book. And yet every time I read a new, one I'm blindsided by the number and depth of the emotions she asks me to go through. You'd also think that by now I'd know that when I reach for one of her books, I'm also reaching for the box of tissues because I really should know that I'm going to need them. I am completely in awe of the author's ability to write a story that is so successfully sweet and drama-laden. These are usually two traits that aren't often found in the same book. And very seldom are they handled with the same kind of skill as Liz Issacson uses them. This book takes the very classic second-chance romance theme and presents it in a way that feels fresh and new. I adore Owen and Natalie and I think they're perfect for one another. I love the underlying theme of forgiveness within the book - especially learning to forgive ourselves. A lesson more of us need to master.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

Amazing! This book will become one of the best for this author. The characters are filled with integrity from their hearts that reaches right out to my soul. True values are hard to find in people, especially our political and some community leaders but I found them in Owen Carr in this storyline. We all make mistakes, young and old, but few of us find a way to say, “I’m sorry,” and find a means to make amends to family, friends and acquaintances we meet along the road of life. Owen’s heart was grabbed up by a little girl as he took on responsibilities few young men can handle. The Christian aspect of this book is not overdone but you do get the feel of it in their daily lives as well as from the pulpit of their church.
Added to this book is a family pet named Tar Baby and a lovely gal named Natalie. This book will long remain in my mind and it was with me as I read the Psalms this morning. I was privileged to receive an early copy of this wonderful book. I loved every page of this read.

This book was so emotional for me. Owen seemed like such a rock when we met him previously and to see him with Marie in this book was an interesting situation. The local boy who left, made himself famous but not happy returns. The girl he left behind tried to find happiness but they return to the same place only to find the happiness they never thought they would find. When you add in the sad story of Marie's parents and how she came to be with Owen, you have a sad story that becomes sweet. I love the characters, I love how Liz pulls at our heart strings and then wraps it all up. Owen and Natalie's faith is the one thing that they could really pull strength from and they found that until they forgave, both each other and themselves, they couldn't move forward. Wonderful book, really enjoyed this one.

Twelve years ago, Owen Carr left Gold Valley to take a chance on a music career. The girl he left behind stayed, got married and got divorced. He chased his dreams but didn’t realize until he came back that she was his main dream all along.
Owen’s return to Gold Valley throws Natalie’s world into an uproar. On the one hand, she still loves him but on the other hand, how can she trust him? He left her once when they were head over heels for each other. Older and wiser, can she trust him to stay this time – even when his music threatens to take him away again?
When Owen’s sister dies, leaving him with guardianship of his niece, Marie, he needs a nanny pronto and the only woman in town young enough, energetic enough and sympathetic enough is his old flame, Natalie. He has no wish to hurt her again but he’s as drawn to her as he was in junior high. She fits him, his family and his life. Would it be so wrong to try again?
These two characters had a strong emotional connection from the get-go and it only grows stronger the more time they spend together. The constant push-pull drama kept me turning pages. I love how Ms. Isaacson draws me into her stories and holds my attention as I agonize with her characters whether they are really right for each other. Story after story has me caring about a new couple and the reasons why they should be together or the reasons they are staying apart. This is a sweet romance with just enough sizzle to keep it interesting. The characters are well-grounded in their faith, so nothing gets out of hand. As the fourth book in the Gold Valley series, Isaacson brings back many characters readers have “met” before and it’s always nice to catch up!

Owen needs to hire a nanny to help him with the care of his niece who he has custody of since his sister and brother in law were killed in an accident almost a year ago. He hires Natalie who is the one he left behind without a word twelve years ago when he left for Nashville. Will they be able to get past the hurt from the past and be able to forgive so they can have a future? What will Owen do when he finds out that Natalie has sent a copy of his new song to his previous recording company? How can Owen help his parents and his niece move forward after his sister's death when he doesn't understand how God could make his niece live without her parents? Will he be able to forgive himself for what he did to Natalie twelve years ago? They both have to rely on their faith to help them make some pretty tough decisions in their life after they are reunited.

This story pulls at the heartstrings. Since I lost both my parents as a young teenager, I'm always a sucker for an orphan finding a loving home. Having said that, there are spelling errors and inconsistencies that aggravate me. For instance, Owen has to interview nannies tonight, then a little later he says it is this weekend. Natalie says she has cooking classes tomorrow, but then goes hiking tomorrow. It's a small town where everybody knows everybody's business, but he's never met the principal at the school. Natalie and Owen go to the same church but they have not seen each other in 7 years. I liked the book and the theme, but the errors and inconsistencies make it less enjoyable to read.

Between the Reins is a continuation of the Gold Valley series and what happens between Owen and Natalie.
Owen and Natalie meet up again after being apart for over 10 years and come to find they still have feelings for each other but they will have to find a way to deal with the past when he walked away for a music career and never came back for her. She stayed, married, got divorced and is determined to not give up her freedom for another man…but now that Owen has come back can they move forward into a future together? Will they allow their faith to help them find a way to a HEA? Can they become the family they were destined to be a long time ago???

Another hit from author Liz Isaacson! This is a wonderful story of second chances and realizing what is important in life. Owen and Natalie were high school sweethearts but Owen takes off for Nashville and a career in music and leave Natalie behind. This story tackles how the mistakes we make in our lives can derail our journeys but seeing ourselves and others from God's perspective can bring us to a place of forgiveness and acceptance. God is always offering us more than second chances. I really enjoy how the author develops her characters and the real life struggles they endure and creates a story with meaning and purpose.

Lovely story! I adored the sweet romance between Natalie and Owen. A story of rekindled love that's meant to be is so inspiring. I thought the little niece was a precious addition, also. The author knows how to tug on your heartstrings, and I enjoyed reading the story of this couple with it's interesting plot as Natalie becomes the new nanny, as Owen is busy with a teen boy's program at the ranch. The songwriting that he does is just icing on the cake. And it's so real to see Natalie and Owen as they try to work through their past issues and their problems with God as they go through things from the past...it's a beautiful story. I highly recommend it.

The Cowboy and the Nanny by Liz Isaacson is definitely amazing and swoon-worthy!! Owen and Natalie were childhood sweethearts, before Owen ran away. Twelve years later, life was different and they were in the same city at the same time. Could a love that never died, or truly said goodbye, ever be doused completely? Isaacson spun a love story that was so full of doubt, fears, and resentment. She pointed to the One that could rebuild a faith, a love and redeem a future. Throughout this book, I found Peace and a Redemption that bound two souls with love and trust in a future only God could salvage. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

This is one of those kinds of books that leaves you wanting to be a better person and not take for granted those around you that love you and that you love more. This was a book about forgiveness, faith, love and second chances. Owen and Natalie haven't seen each other in years and both had been through a lot. Their paths cross and they pretty much pick up where they left off 12 years ago but continue to reflect on the past. I loved the chemistry between the two and I also enjoyed the realness of the characters. Liz is a talented author and this was another great read!

Owen Carr has popped up in a couple of the earlier books in this series, this is his story.
Natalie Ringold, and Owen knew one another in High school 12 years earlier; she applies for a position as Nanny to Owen's young niece whom he is now, unexpectedly, responsible for.
Twelve years have passed, hurts and misunderstandings stand between them.
Marie, Owen's niece plays her part in the story, and I found it to be a more rounded story with some depth.
Enjoyable and one that I had to keep reading right to the end. I am just glad that it was the weekend!

Romance, clean, Christian faith elements.
This was a lovely sweet fall. Beautifully told story of two hurting hearts reconnecting after a big mistake in the past. I love that they didn't 'fall' per se as their mistake. Naturally falling again after coming together to help Owen's niece. Owen and Natalie's story was a lovely read with two honest hurting hearts, just trying to figure their way through their hurts and problems, and realizing they were still good, and even better together. Beautiful HEA. L.I. is the best at this! Always a lovely read, and beautifully orchestrated fall.

"Between the Reins" was a very interesting tale about a once before couple that had ended in heartbreak and desertion. Love at a young age is fragile and sometimes easy to forget about, but Natalie and Owen's love is like a spark that can start a wild fire. The passion that burns between them is from somewhere deep within each of them that God is fueling to lead them back together.
When tragedy has struck and Owen is left with some monumental decisions, who better than to enter back into his life then the love of his life- Natalie. Being around Owen is harder than she thought because falling in love with him has always been the easiest thing she has ever done. Can these two broken hearts become one again? Is there still a chance for happily ever after?
I would just like to say that there are over 6 books in this series (so far), and I am not normally a fan of series that run this long (unless they really hold your attention); however, Mrs. Isaacson grabs your attention with the multiple characters throughout the many novels and manages to keep them all tied together without having to repeat herself a multitude of times throughout each story. Wonderful job, if you enjoy one, you will enjoy all of them.

The best book in the series! I read simple romance books between ‘heavier’ ones and depending on my mood. This is #5 of the series and has much more substance than the first 4. Loss, death, commitments, forgiveness as well as Love is addressed. Her books are marked as Christian, but the others only touched on faith, where this one delved into the fundamental, especially forgiveness, without being a turn off to most none believers.. I would hope that it would encourage others to explore faith.

This is a fantastic series. In this one Owen has to deal with issues concerning his Country Music Career and Nat has to deal with issues relating to him leaving her to go to Nashville the day after they graduated high school. They come back together as adults to take care of Owens 8 year old niece after his Sister died. Lots of emotions and trust issues to deal with. I highly recommend this entire series.

This is the 4th story in the series you don't have to read others to enjoy this one. Other characters are mentioned in passing in the story so you learn more about past characters. Owen and Natalie were high school sweethearts and split when Owen left town. Now 12 years later they are both back in their hometown and Owen needs a babysitter and runs into Natalie. Read the story to find out what happens it's a good clean story you will enjoy.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Goodfm)
They had been High school sweethearts, until he disappeared aa day after final year's graduation.
Now, he was looking for a Nanny for his niece, who had been orphaned and was now under his guardianship.
Guess who applied for the Nanny position and had the little girl, and her uncle, wrapped around her finger.

I enjoy this author's stories. This story is about when you chase your dreams and leave those behind who love you, you find out that your dream is not all it is cracked up to be without love. But God allows second chances and with forgiveness we can make a better future. I received a free copy with no obligation.

This book was a very well written book. It follows Natalie's and Owen's journey to healing and forgiving each other. It was a very spritually written book testing their beliefs in God and forgiveness of themselves and others. I loved the bond they formed with Owen'sniece Marie ( who he was raising due to the deaths of her parents.)

Owen just left, no word why, and Natalie was devastated. She gave up her hopes and dreams and married the wrong man.
Owen needs a nanny for his niece, Marie, and Natalie needs another job. And so they meet up again. It takes a while for them both to discuss their feelings and to get over their pasts, with the help of God all is resolved.
Another great read from Liz. Keep writing girl!!

Between the Reins is about those decisions we make that drastically alter our course in life. The consequences may not be seen until years later. Owen makes his decision to leave town and his almost fiance, Natalie, to pursue his career in Nashville on his own. Both must find forgiveness for themselves and one another. I am always wary when trying out a new author but I was pleasantly surprised with Liz Isaacson. This was such a sweet second-chance love story. I enjoyed all three characters and how each character had their own voice, instead of all sounding the same. I loved Marie the most, I think. I hope to see more of Owen, Nat and Marie!

Owen and Natalie's story stole my heart. The emotion I felt while reading this book is a glowing endorsement of the way Liz Isaacson translates real life into a heartwarming story. This book had everything, heart break, unrealised dreams, tragedy, troubled teens and three people coming together to make a loving family. Second chances all around with a liberal dose of 'Happy Ever After'.
