Five years ago, hunky rodeo star Stetson Scott left town, never looking back, convinced he had no reason to stay. He unknowingly left behind more than just a love, so much more.
Storm McCrory's heart was ripped out that same day. Now Stetson is back in town. He's shocked to find not just Storm McCrory living in poverty, but his son. The son he never knew. Both shunned by most of the town.
Will Storm allow Stetson to help her and be a father to his son, or will her stubborn pride get in the way of their true love?

Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
Life has thrown one challenge after the other at Storm but she and her son have survived. This is a riveting story with overcoming the deepest pains that a woman can endure.
I could not put this book down. Storm is a woman who had huge hardships to deal with, but she was proud and strong. Her son, Scottie, a charming little boy, stole every scene he was in. And Stetson Scott made me swoon from the moment he appeared on the page. Ms. Ball writes such emotional stories that pull at your heart. I found myself tearing up more than once as I read. Her writing is evocative and true to life. I have read her other books and this one is even better than the rest. I've loved this story and these characters from the get-go. Yes, characters from other books reappeared here and I was glad to see them. If you're looking for the perfect romance to cuddle up with on a rainy afternoon, this is it. I loved it!
I am an avid fan of Kathleen Ball's, so I wasn't surprised to have thoroughly enjoyed another of her western romances. Her characters were multi-dimensional and real.
The reuniting of old flames Stetson and Storm was tender and emotional. As usual, Ms. Ball has us pulling for her heroes as if we were part of the story. The addition of little Scotty added a realistic feel to this once broken family's home life. I enjoyed the banter between Scotty and his father, and I savored the love Storm had for her little boy.
The recurring role of nasty neighbor Bailey was a nice touch (though I wanted to punch her again). Ms. Ball's villainess Chrissy was done to perfection. There wasn't a moment in the book when I didn't want to slap her across the face.
Stetson's Storm is Kathleen Ball's third installment in the Lasso Spring's Series and each one is a wonderful trip into cowboy heaven.
Kathleen Ball writes cowboys very well. This is the first book I’ve read from The Lasso Springs Series and I got along fine. It can definitely be read as a stand-a-lone.
I can’t even begin to imagine the pain and betrayal Storm must’ve felt. Everyone abandoned her in her time of need, her father, the man she loves and the whole town. The only job she’s able to find is the midnight shift at the local diner and even there she is constantly barraged with insults. She just holds her head up, does her job and gets back to her son. The story was a good idea. Hero returns home, horrible father and secret pregnancy due to evil father's interference but it just didn't work for me. I found the hero weak. It seemed to jump topics, scenes abruptly almost me conversation. I just wanted it to be more.
It all just seemed overdone. All that befell the heroine just seemed too much and why it happened didn't make sense. This felt half-baked and I couldn't finish. Sorry!
The story is the third in the Sweet Lasso Springs series—and could read as a stand-alone, but I think would be better read in their written order since things from the previous books are still issues and several of the main characters from books one and two are in this one. The story is full of mystery, suspense, deceit, lies, bitterness, heartache, and second chances. Its two main characters are Stetson Scott and Storm McCrory who grew up as ranching neighbors, and sweethearts. One fateful night will destroy them—and now, five years later, Stetson returns from the rodeo circuit to Sweet Lasso Springs after his father’s death. There are two other main secondary characters, Stetson’s sister, Nellie, and the ranch foreman, Joe.
Storm was left behind when Stetson left town without a goodbye. But that isn’t all that happened. She was pregnant with his child and he abandoned them—even if he didn’t know about his son. How could a family be so cruel as to discard her like trash—spreading the word that she was loose—and her own father to kick her out? Then the people in town turned their backs on her and her baby. Storm has struggled to barely squeak by with a run-down roof over their head and to care for her son.
The story’s plot will have Stetson returning to the family ranch to discover it is run down, most of the horses and cattle gone, and is shocked. When he left five years ago, his father told him never to return, yet he left the ranch to Stetson, not Nellie. What a shock to learn that Storm has a child—but not just any child, his. Storm remains guarded, she avoids conflict with the town who turned their back on her, and she only has two friends, Nellie, and a neighbor lady who helps her with Scotty. She was shocked to see Stetson come into the diner and ignore her.
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly in people. It was disheartening to see how cruel people can be—how they blatantly lied, and others believed it. Storm would have left with her son if she had a way—but she barely survives as it is. When Stetson discovers that Storm had his child, he is determined to get to know Scotty. My heart hurts for Storm, and I can understand her fear of wanting to trust anyone—including Stetson. The story is full of excuses, why someone did this or that, and rarely accepting responsibility for their actions. I had trust issues with these people—and they were just characters.
“Some lessons come hard, but they should not be forgotten. Trust no one and you can’t be hurt.”
The truth will come to light, and in the end, they do find their happily ever after—but it will be a painful journey along the way.
I was provided an unedited review copy of this novel in exchange for a review. I also downloaded it in my Kindle through KU. I don't recall reading this author before, but she is a member of an authors & readers Facebook page that I follow.
This is book 3 in The Lasso Springs Series. It stands alone just fine as the characters from books 1&2 are living their HEAs and interacting with Stetson and Storm. It is not necessary to know their stories to enjoy this read.
While I didn't love this novel, I liked it just fine. There is something about the authors writing style that I cannot pinpoint. Maybe it's just different from what I'm used to. I do like the characters and setting. But Storm's lack of trust and her constant second guessing herself got old after awhile.
The characters from book a 1&2 showed up enough to interest me in reading their stories.
"Stetson watched her whirl around and go inside, slamming the door. Damn, he smiled, she still lived up to her name. She was a storm that blew the breath out of you. She'd always been that way. That's why he loved her."
If you like contemporary western romance, Texas, and/or rodeo cowboys, this book is for you. It also has a bit of criminal activity going on that requires solving for everything to work out. I would consider it spicy, but not hot.
I could write a review telling you what the book is about but then you wouldn't have to read it would you? What I will tell you is I gave it five stars for a reason. That reason was I couldn't put it down once I picked it up. This story is so well written and has so many twists and turns that you just have to keep turning pages. Add in a little boy named Scotty who has problems pronouncing his Bs and throw in a dog named Buck you will laugh out load at their antics. I not only recommend this book but it is a must read.
Not just a romance in this one. This was a really good story but what I really liked was the characters they were so real and so well written. I worked in a woman’s shelter some years ago and many had a similar story as the heroine. I also liked at the end of the book when she had to make a decision about her father. This book fits so well in this series in fact I think it was my favorite of them all and let me tell you each book is excellent. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Well this has all the feels plus so much suspense and heartbreak. Stetson and Storm were a couple until five years ago he leaves her for the rodeo not knowing she was pregnant. Now five years later he is back but she is a shell of the girl he left behind but with the whole town turned against her plus her father and his she and her son Scotty barely gets by. Stetson wants her back but she is having a hard time trusting him and now there are cattle being rustled and people missing and end up dead.

This book started as many western books do,but this one had a single Mom with a young boy,and the father of said boy coming back to town. From there it goes up, down around the corner and back as you try to figure what’s going to happen. There is cattle rustling, murders, and through it all this scorned woman trying to keep it together for her son. All in all it’s a good book and I hope you’ll like it as much as I did.
Honestly it kinda started out slow for me. Kinda anywhere and everywhere but I wanted to see how it would end and I'm glad I kept reading. I truly did like the book. There were parts where I just wanted to put it down but towards the end I couldn't put it down and I'm glad I didn't.
Loved it. It was a very well written book. Stetson and Storm had so much heartache and heartbreak. Then on top have so much more to deal with in the meantime. I borrowed this on KU and am so glad I did. I am going to read the rest in the series. This has excitement, suspense, love and so much more. I highly recommend it.
this is a true to life small town story - Storm has lived it and now that Stetson is back she is hoping things get better in her life - well maybe, maybe not - thankfully family drama and lies can be sorted through to find their HEA!.

The book started out good, but fell apart at the end. I liked the characters and their storyline. In the end, Storm shot an intruder who she knew, but we were never told who and then crazy Chrissy showed up and the book was over. The ending lacked conclusion for me.
Another great book from Kathleen Ball! Read it in one sitting. Looking forward to reading more from her. Nothing better than love, excitement, and mystery in a cowboys life.
Great story. Loved Storm. She was feisty and after everything she had been through she still had a good heart. Stetson, in the beginning I really didn't like him but he slowly grew on me. Some action and suspense.
Storm had been through so much that it amazing how she still has any courage to face more. Stetson surprised me. Her dad is a piece of work. Could barely put it down till the end.
Kathleen is a great author. I love her books, she keeps your interests in all her books. I will always choose her stories as I know I will love them . Yes , I would recommend her books to all reader's she keeps up with the love stories and does a great job. !
I really enjoy reading books by Kathleen Ball. The story of Stetson and Storm has many ups, downs, twists and turns. Keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. Love reading about cowboys!
Storm had to endure so much I don't know how she kept from breaking. She found out she was pregnant, Stetson left town and her father kicked her out of the house. Five years later Stetson comes back and finds out about the mess he left behind.
Story was good but two stars less because of hero . He left heroine for 5 years for no fault of hers and even now he didn't come back for her so how to believe his love . I want my hero to have a genuine reason even a misunderstanding to keep him away . Here there was nothing .
