Rose Delaney is a baby bounty hunter, rescuing children from fugitive ex-spouses. All she wants is to return a recovered child to its mother and get back to her regimented solitary life. But when a snow storm leaves her and baby Emmy stranded, Rose has no choice but to lean on the ruggedly handsome rescuer, who thinks the baby is hers. Holed up in their mountain resort-under-construction and unable to contact Emmy’s mother, Rose's priority is hitting the road—even if Garrett’s erotic touch entices her to ride out the storm.
Construction boss Garrett Galo loves his job, but he never imagined a perk like being snowbound during a whiteout with the sassy brunette he just rear-ended. He’s learned to stay away from women who want a family, especially when they come with a kid in tow. When passionate nighttime encounters flare between them, Garrett begins to question what he’d risk to keep Rose.
This isn’t the time or the place for romance—but will five days on a mountain make these loners reconsider giving in to love?
In The Last Resort, Ember Leigh has created one of the more intriguing romantic heroines I’ve ever read. Rose is the very opposite of the ‘girly girl’; the former Marine is now a baby bounty hunter, employed by desperate parents to reclaim their children when the legal system fails to enforce court mandated custody. An expert in jiujitsu, Rose is in her element beating up bad guys but completely lost when it comes to matters of the heart. Getting stranded in a snowbound hotel under renovation with Garrett and his construction crew is most definitely outside her comfort zone. Being there with a bounty client in the shape of adorable fourteenth-month-old Emmy, whose mother she has to pretend to be, makes the situation even worse.
I really enjoyed The Last Resort. I loved Rose being so very different to the cookie-cutter girly girl heroines I’ve read in all too many romances lately, and I could really see how she and Garrett belonged together. My heart was in my mouth in the closing stages of the book as both of them agonized over how to communicate with each other; of course I as the reader knew how they both felt due to the omniscient narration but it was very easy to empathize with their nerves as they both awkwardly tried to broach the subject and managed to eventually find their way to a happy ending. Ember Leigh has written an extremely enjoyable romance with complex, intriguing characters here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Five stars.

The last resort by Ember Leigh. Rose is a bounty hunter. She rescues babies who have been taken from their mothers without their consent. Wes and garrett are doing up a hotel when they crash into Rose's car. What happens next? A fantastic read with great characters. I really enjoyed this book. Wasn't sure on wes. Didn't trust him. I loved how Garrett and rose were. I loved the ending too. 5*.
The two main characters are Rose and Garrett. Rose is the baby bounty hunter who has walls around her heart and the wish for a normal but not entirely normal life. She doesn't want kids. Ironic since she saves babies but that complication is from her past. No spoilers - you'll have to read it. Enter Garrett: Handsome, hotel renovator, and can nail fancy dives (former swimmer with the bod to prove it). There is really only one supporting character and that is Wesley 'Wes' who is Garrett's brother. Technically Emmy, the baby, is also a secondary character - wouldn't want to forget the bundle of joy!
Plot
There are two plots. The romantic plot, which plays it safe with a nice twist of being non-conforming. Also it ends with a realistic 'happy for now' ending which I really appreciated. I would have not enjoyed it as much if the author would have taken that extra step. The second plot is Emmy. Rose is mid-way to bringing Emmy back to her mother from her deadbeat dad that violated their shared custody when a white out snow storm hits. Technically Rose isn't working outside the law - just in a 'gray area' but she doesn't trust the brothers and decides to pose as Emmy's mother. The plot continues from there and adds an extra zing to the story.
Overall
The book was easy to read and was enjoyable. Rose and Garrett are perfect for each other. They practically sizzle off the page. It is nice to get both Rose and Garrett's point of view but there are a few POV issues where they cross over.
The plot was interesting and you really wanted Emmy to get home safe. The one things that stuck was some of the story line was just a little bit too convenient and the inner dialogue was repetitive. That were the only issues with the book though. Despite that it was a cute romance the was easy to read.

If you like romances that are for those that are non-confirming to societies expectations this is the right book for you! Interesting read but the inner dialogue and some of the plot was a little repetitive.

Rose Delany, a baby bounty hunter, gets caught in a massive snowstorm while out on assignment. She and the baby are picked up by a pair of brothers, Garrett and Wesley, who are working to renovate an isolated Pennsylvania hotel. Almost immediately, sparks fly between Rose and Garrett. Their budding relationship is not without obstacles. Rose must pretend to be the baby’s mother in order to keep her profession a secret, and as long as Garrett believes her to be a simple single mother, it seems romance can never truly bloom between them.
In a story like this, one would expect at least a few chapters to go by before the main couple openly express their attraction. Not so here. Rose and Garrett notice their sexual chemistry within hours of meeting each other, and from there, they are more than happy to act on it any chance they get. The ‘erotic romance’ tag is not to be taken lightly. There is sex and sensuality galore with these two, making it all the more suspenseful what will happen when Rose’s secret is finally revealed.
The supporting cast is decent, though the focus never strays from Rose and Garrett. I liked Wes, who seems like a bit of a buzzkill at times but really is looking out for his brother’s best interests. Emmy is an adorable little girl, easily wrapping Rose around her finger. All of them were enjoyable to read about and made for a fun story with some interesting twists and a satisfying conclusion.

This is a new to me author. I enjoyed this book, I found it easy to read, the characters Rose and Garrett enjoyable. I liked that Rose was a bounty hunter and not your typical one at that. Her bounty hunting consist of diapers and formula, baby bounty hunters walk a gray line she’s within the law and just outside it. Rose finds herself stranded in a snow storm with her charge Emmy, just when Rose doesn’t think things could get worse, they get rear-ended. Rose has no choice but to except the help of her two rear-ending rescuers; getting Emmy out of the storm to a safe warm place is her priority as is getting her back to her real mom. It just so happens Garrett and his brother are in the middle of reconstructing a resort nearby. The ruggedly handsome Garrett has Rose rethinking her priorities; get the baby to her mom or seeing him naked? Decisions, decisions… guess you’ll have to read the book to see want she decides on. 3.5 stars

The Last Resort had me hooked from the first few pages. A snowstorm has Rose stranded in the middle of the road. To make matters worse she has to take care of baby Emmy, who she is supposed to hand back to her mother, without letting the Galo brothers know who she really is – she's a kick ass baby bounty hunter. Now she finds herself in a rundown hotel, being renovated by Wesley and his sinfully hot younger brother, Garrett. Being stuck in a snow storm in the middle of nowhere starts to become more tempting to Rose and Garrett who start kindling a fire of their own. It’s definitely a sweet and steamy read, especially if you love bad ass heroines and sweet seducing alphas.
This is an entertaining read with plenty of fun, suspense and steam. I like the characters as well as the story. Rose is a baby bounty hunter and after rescuing baby Emmy she gets stranded in a snowstorm with Garrett at a hotel that happens to be under renovations and he is part of the crew. Garrett and Rose have great chemistry and the story held my interest throughout. I really liked it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. so different from what I normally read. This is a new Author to me, I have just finished another book by the same Author and went on to find this book. There was no over rated sex scenes which keep popping up all over novels. The love was instant and the scenes were enjoyable and not repetitive. I recommend Ember leigh and look forward to reading more.
I received a copy of this book as a gift in a raffle. I am so glad I won! The Last Resort is full of humor and steamy romance. I loved how Rose isn't your average heroine. My goodness, she's a bounty hunter who specializes in retrieving children from the wrong people! I couldn't help but fall in love with Emmy, the baby. There are several LOL moments, such as Emmy constantly putting everything into her mouth, which if you have kids, you know how this goes! And poor Rose, who doesn't have children has to learn to adapt to caring for a little one, which is often humorous in it's own right.
I found Rose and Garrett's attraction deliciously sinful as they both struggled to realize they just might want more than they ever realized. Despite being stuck in the middle of a snowstorm, there is plenty of heat between these two to keep them warm...just saying!
If you love strong minded characters with a great sense of humor, steamy buildup and romance, and a chaotic toddler thrown in the mix, then this is your read.
Clever title and original concept! This is my first book by this author but I’ve already started reading her “New York Minute.” Great stuff! And what an original concept. I loved all the characters and rooted for the romance between Rose and Garrett from chapter one. Great pace and superb writing. Highly recommended!
A child bounty hunter—she kidnaps kids that were abducted by parents who didn’t have custody, so she’s a good guy—gets stuck in a snowstorm after her latest mission and, after being crashed into, is rescued by a couple of brothers who are renovating a hotel, along with about twenty construction workers. Love ensues between her and one of the brothers. She’s an ex-Marine with abandonment issues. Not a typical heroine. (BTW, I was a Marine and I don’t worry about that “always a Marine” nonsense.) He’s never met anyone like her and can’t stay away, which either annoys or concerns his brother—or both. It may be because I just got through watching the series again, but she reminds me of Wynonna Earp: a giggly badass. So of course despite all her issues and quirks I love her. She’s a complex character—maybe a little too complex—so I’m enjoying the game between them, while realizing in real life they’d probably piss each other off so much. Even better, this is one of those rare situations where I actually like the male character too. Not that I usually hate them, I’m just indifferent, concentrating on the female lead. This guy I would like as a buddy. Obviously if she hadn’t been trapped this story would have never happened, so as a plot device it’s fine. Interesting to think of a baby as a wild card, both drawing them closer and driving them apart. And it has to be said, that little toddler is probably the best character in the entire book!

Rose Delaney, who calls herself a "baby" bounty hunter, is returning a toddler to her mother after removing the child from her father's negligent care. While en route, she finds herself caught in whiteout conditions in a severe Pennsylvania blizzard. They are rescued by two brothers, Garrett and Wesley Galo, who are restoring an older hotel to its original grandeur. They offer Rose and little Emmy, whom they presume are mother and daughter, a room among the construction zone for the few days until the storm passes.
Rose and Garrett are instantly drawn together. They have similar personalities and both enjoy teasing each other. Whether it is Garrett pitching in to help care for Emmy or even when they work together on building projects in the hotel, they act like partners and enjoy just being together. There is a lot of humor and bantering between the two, and an honest sweetness as they deal with their internal struggles about their feelings. Although they play it off as simply a physical attraction, they both feel like they have known each other forever and their relationship grows naturally (although quickly).
I found this to be an enjoyable read and appreciated how the characters looked at their instant attraction in a realistic and responsible way, even while falling hard for each other.
Rose is not your typical book heroine. She's a former Marine who is now a Bounty Hunter. But she's not just any Bounty Hunter. She rescues children who have been abducted by their non custodial parent. Needless to say she needs to use discretion in doing this. As she rescues baby Emmy she is stranded in a snowstorm at a resort. This resort however, is under construction by the Garrett Galo. In order to hide baby Emmy's identity, she pretends to be her mother. Garret is not only taken in by Rose but he begins to adore the baby as well.
Garrett and Rose have an instant connection and sparks fly but when it comes time to leave will Rose be able to leave without Garret and will Garret understand Rose's need to protect the innocent child.
