Having read and enjoyed the author's space-born science fiction stories, and having something of a weak spot for the old west I was curious to see how the author would combine these elements.
The fact is he does it quite well, the setup for time travel is different to those encountered before and sets some interesting limits on the process, but I won't spoil it for other readers. Beyond this, we get quite romantic stories from an author who loves the old west and what I suspect are the areas he grew up in. The familiarity of the history and the area shows through. As in the author's other works, these are fairly gentle tales without excessive violence.
I'm certainly intrigued enough to look into further tales in the series for future reading.
