A picture-postcard beautiful little town on the shore of Lake Michigan, Good Isle is where the wealthy buy summer homes. Bad things just don't happen in this quaint little town.
That is, until Billy "Dynamite" Dawkins, a legend in Detroit's boxing history, disappears.
John and Ellen Rockne, both in Good Isle for different reasons, are asked to look into the famous boxer's disappearance.
Before long, they are both drawn into a dark side of Good Isle that until now, had remained the town's most notorious secret.

One of my favorite private investigator doing what he was hired to do. Also like his test in music too, all my old time favorites. John couldn't even take a two days vacation with his wife and children. Fun read, got completely engaged in this story, but it ended so soon.
Another pulp fiction masterpiece from Dan Ames. Body Blow is the latest in the series about Michigan based privat detective John Rockne. This time he is actually on a holliday with his family and sister when he gets a case of a missing boxer. This is as usual a dark and gritty story with lots of twists but is's a quick read and hard to put down. The thing that hits me in the end is that there needs to be more books about John Rockne and also in the series about his sister Ellen Rockne. Once again a well writte story by the leader of the A-Team.
BODY BLOW. by Dan Ames John Rockne series # 5 The battering between the sister, Ellen, Chief of Police and John, the brother. You are once again delighted to read more about them. Ellen going for a job interview, and a couple of free rooms, in.a small town, with a few days by the lake. Hoping Anna and the kids would come, and of course, John, but he probably hadn't thought of taking Anna on a vacation. Sensitivity and small town they have a case, and calling Ellen and John in , a person missing. He's known as Dynamite,or is it his prized Bronco, or the husband found out. Ellen can't be involved, so she have her chance to visit with Anna, and relax by the pool. Small town and secrets what all will John get into while trying to solve. Another adventure as you read how John works.
John Rockne's short weekend vacation was suppose to be a family outing. Nope. He picks up a case in a very wealthy rural area of Michigan to find a friend of a friend's boyfriend. A retired well known boxer with a few enemies. Full of action from the first to last page. Another classic whodunit!!
A really good John Rockne thriller. It delivers a one two punch, followed by a knockout. Lots of laughs along the way. Rockne is such an idiot, albeit an adorable one. The banter between him, his wife, and sister is hysterical. Think dueling banjos.
