Mr. Big

Rate this book
He’s tortured and dark, angsty and arrogant. You want the truth? He’s kind of an A-hole.

He’s also the CEO.

Everything in my life goes according to plan, and that’s the way I like it. I got the degree. I got the job. Now I just need to prove that I have what it takes to succeed in the real world.

If there’s one thing that’s not in my plans, it’s falling in love with my boss.

Most relationships don’t start with one person calling the other out in public for being an arrogant jerk. Then again, most CEOs don’t cut their own employees in line at the coffeehouse and bark orders at people like they own the place.

Maybe pissing Oliver Cody off isn’t the right move. And now that he’s part of my world, all my plans go straight to hell.

This sexy standalone novel includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

I'm USA Today Bestselling author Delancey Stewart. My contemporary romances run the gamut of settings and setups, but they always deliver humor, heart and heat. It's a guarantee.

I write from my home in Denver, CO, where I manage a household full of boys and men. Okay, only one man. The hubs. But two boys. I mean, three if you count the hubs. (You see why I do words and not numbers. I was told there'd be no math in this bio. Someone lied.)

I grew up in California and have had more jobs than anyone on earth (personal trainer, pharmaceutical rep, copywriter, tech writer, marketing director, wine seller, elementary school teacher... I'm not kidding. The list. It goes on.) But the one I love the most is writing, in part because I get to meet people who love books and stories as much as I do! The way I saw it now, I had two choices: go all in, or get all the way out. As I watched the way Holland’s perfect pink tongue darted out to lick her lips as she glanced at me, I realized I’d never be strong enough for the latter. I was in.

I struggled with my rating, to be honest. While I enjoyed the writing, the book left me feeling...lackluster. It had a super promising beginning. And if I'm being perfectly honest, what hooked me was the first line in that blurb. I love a good alphahole. Unfortunately this hero just did nothing for me.

The story all in all, had a lot of things going on, but none of them really interested me. I struggled to ever connect to the characters or their plight. This was especially true of the hero who acted like a wounded toddler at times. And his decisions towards the end had me wanting to shake him among other more violent things.

I wasn't a fan of the twist used at the end to essentially bring the couple "together" and I felt it did the story a disservice. Altogether, it was this odd combination of too slow paced yet rushed. The pacing of the story and the things happening in it didn't hook me. But the romance itself and the ending simply felt rushed.

Will I read other books by this author? Absolutely. I know when I enjoy an author's writing style, and I saw that here. Just because the story didn't hook me here, doesn't mean her others won't. And hey, just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean you'll feel the same. If you like the boss and employee trope, this was a sexy little romp. It just didn't wow this reader.

➳Love at first sight, has never been this intriguing as Delancey makes it out to be...

➳After being separated from the real world, the world of business, relationship bursts, playboy actions, and the handling of his father's business, Ollie is needed immediately when he hears the terrible news of his father's death. The running away times are over, and now Oliver needs to take responsibility towards the company's assets.

➳Holland on the other hand, is an individual with qualities that she does not shine due to her gender. However, with Oliver keeping his identity away from her at first, he does everything he can, with all his power, to let her believe in herself and the beautiful, and intelligent woman she truly is. The attraction of course is there, but he tries to put that aside and focus on her qualities that internally make her a beautiful business women.

➳Overall, I really enjoyed this story due to its actions of equality in genders, and how we should ALL be treated in the world of business, the world of love and romance, and also the world of attraction towards someone whom you are truly attracted to in an emotional aspect as much as Oliver is towards Holland.

This ended up being one of those books where not a lot is happening and the stuff that is happening isn't very interesting.

The blurb of this book sounded promising and it started off strong. But then it started to drag. I was looking forward to an alpha type of guy who gets mixed up with a sassy gal. I really didn't get that. Oliver was a mess the entirety of the book. I understand that he had lost his parents and lies had been revealed that really hurt him, but even when things started looking up they would almost immediately take the turn of being crap again. It never let up. There was no light to all the heavy that went on with him or Holland.
Holland was likable at the beginning but her indecisiveness drove me crazy. She had her lists of the things she wanted and in what order she wanted them in. But we all know life throws us curveballs and nothing ever goes as planned nor does it happen in a way you hoped. Holland also has hard time asking and receiving help. She's been pretty independent most of her life considering she spent it in foster homes. Because of that she's struggling with her new position at her job and with the big deal she just landed for the company because she had help from Oliver with it and since she had a sexual relationship with the 'boss' she doesn't feel like her hard work got her to where she is.
There was a lot of work talk that I just couldn't bring myself to find any interest in. It seemed to be more of the focus than the relationship was. Plus there wasn't a lot of relationship in the book since both MC's couldn't get themselves together long enough to manage one. But what really made this book un-enjoyable for me was the ending. The way Oliver treated Holland was unacceptable to me. I didn't really care for him throughout the book and he nailed down my dislike for him when he abandoned Holland when she needed him the most. I was so done with this book by then and was happy it was almost over.
I think I might be in the minority here with how I felt about the book because a lot of people have given it a lot of praise and high ratings. It just wasn't personally for me. So I still recommend you give it a read because we all have such a wide variety of tastes of likes and dislikes that we shouldn't let one persons feelings dictate what the other should read. Especially if you were interested in reading the book beforehand. Come to your own opinion dolls.

I received an ARC from Loveswept in exchange for an honest review.

Oliver Cody used to be the CEO of Cody Technology until he left and went on soul searching to escape his responsibilities. Weeks later, he received a phone call about his parents' death and he must return to takeover their family company. Still grieving and evasive to responsibilities, he met Holland O'Dell at a coffee shop and she works in his company and struggling with her report. Drawn by her determination and wits, he introduced himself as Hale and decided to help her. Hanging out several times, they become closer with each other and the attraction sparkles between them.

The story is good but by 27% I start to lose my interest. Maybe because of my unfamiliarity with Sports Corp and it's challenging to read their work related stuff and I think it should be toned down so it won't be boring. The romance is mild and insta-love. I don't mind insta-love once in a while. The characters were okay though. I just find Oliver a weak, shallow and spineless hero.

The title and blurb caught my eye, the first chapters grabbed my attention and the delicious sweet and sexy romance kept me engaged throughout.

My enjoyment of this story was also influenced by the image I had of the book’s hero Oliver Cody. For some reason, Oliver Cody made me think of Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow's super hero. Similarities besides a first name? They were both CEOs of their companies and both "left" for places unknown for a while before coming back home and both their fathers were keeping secrets from them. So not exactly similar to the book’s cover model but that’s also part of the fun in reading, you get to cast your own protagonists!

I like to read about brooding, closed off, jerkish heroes. They’re always the ones that fall in love harder and it’s a wonderful to see how they turn their lives around. But in getting to know Oliver, there’s really not a lot of jerk in him. He was mostly hurt and unprepared for the loss he suffered but behind the temporarily lost and vulnerable man lay a fun, sweet, thoughtful sexy and caring soul I found myself easily falling for right along with Holland whose life was thoroughly affected when she let the irritable, scruffy looking, line cutting man into her life.
“I looked up to find my gaze caught by a pair of crystal-blue eyes set in the face of an angel. A very pissed-off angel with a scowl and long dark auburn hair.”

Even though Holland and Oliver seemed to completely opposite, she had very little growing up but was self driven and he seemingly had everything but was lost, they both had a lot in common including an emptiness that vanishes when their lives collided with one another.
“The girl had something I needed. Maybe it was chemical. That was all I could think. But whatever it was, whatever this girl had, I wanted it. It was the first certainty I’d felt in the better part of a year.”

I know I’m not giving much away. If you’ve read my reviews you know I prefer to live the full emotional effect of reading a book without knowing much in advance. But I loved how the plot unfolded even though some developments were expected. The banter between Holland and Oliver was fun, the attraction palpable and the feelings they developed for each other felt very real.

Mr. Big is a standalone contemporary romance by Delancey Stewart. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending.

Oliver Cody has been trying to 'find himself' for the better part of this last year - he still hasn't found the person he wants to be though. But his travel-time is over now. He has to come back home to take over the family company. But he's too mad, sad, angry to be of any help. Until he meets Holland. She's new at Cody's and she's almost done developing something new and groundbreaking - because she wants to get out of sales into her dream job. And she's almost got everything she need, she just needs some technical help. Enter Ollie. Only she doesn't know Ollie is the CEO - she only knows him as this surfer bum who hangs out at the company's coffee shop.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH HOLLAND & OLLIE?
WILL THERE BE A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

Adorable!

I really enjoyed reading this book.
The cover is really hot, but also ridiculous - it doesn't have anything to do with the book. Ollie is a blond surfer-type and not a darkish guy. I don't know what the author was thinking when she approved that cover.
But, the story was good. I really liked it. It's adorable, funny, moving, frustrating, sexy - it has everything a good romance needs! It's nothing new or overly exciting - I felt like I read something exactly like it a million times before - but it's a great romance - and we love those kinds of romances!

MR. BIG was very adorable & sexy & moving romance! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Oliver - this one is MINE! ☺

Part love - part annoyance. I have to stew on this one.

---------------------
3.5 stars
So I have a love-hate relationship with this book. I loved a lot about the story that the author created. We get Oliver who is on a mission to just give up. He has a lot of anger and kind of floats through life. He meets a girl and finds an immediate connection which was awesome. But then he got stupid.

I pretty much liked Holland. But she had a lot of back-and-forth issues that started making me cuckoo. Then she just got plain stupid.

Through all the weird ups and downs we finally get an HEA at the last minute. So I guess that makes me happy because I love happy endings. But I also didn't really connect too much with the characters. The beginning was fun and funny in many parts, but towards the ending, it just plain frustrated me. I don't want to be frustrated when I read a story.

The writer did give us plenty of hot scenes and heated connections that made up for a lot of the idiosyncrasies of the story. Definitely worth it to read the story just go to it with an open mind.

'Mr. Big' by Delancey Stewart is the story of Oliver Cody and Holland O'Dell.
Oliver Cody started a business at an early age and was about to marry when he decided to walk away from it to 'find himself' leaving his dad and some other people in charge of the company. But now there was a bad accident that took his parents life that also took away what he thought he knew about himself. Now he is back at the company but not caring about it and thinking of selling off his shares.
Holland is a hard working women who fighting to get a job in a mans world. At first the way Oliver is dressed he looks like a surfer or bum. So the first time she officially sees him at the coffee house he pushes the coffee line to go right head of everyone else and then is short with the server. So Holland goes over to his table to let him have a piece of her mind. But what Oliver found is that Holland woke him up with his desire to have her and its the first thing he has cared about in along time. But can they both work through their issues to actually have a relationship?

I requested this book on NetGalley because the premise sounded amaze-tits. Unfortunately, not even a page in, I was overcome with annoyance at the slow pace, the lack of anything to pull my attention into the story, and the overall 'meh'-ness of it. Most writers to know that to snare the reader, they have to start with a punch. This book starts with a whiney dude lamenting about how his life was so wonderful and then it wasn't. It was written so...I dunno...flat, I didn't care what had happened--but I carried on because I wanted to give the book a chance, just as many books deserve.

I was disappointed over and over. I kept hunting and pecking through the content to find something, anything to make me want to stop and actually read that scene. The characters are annoying, the tension is about as tense as a hippie on Mary Jane, and the sex scene (the only one I was able to power through) was quick, lacked detail or tension, and made me want to slap them both for a poor performance.

All in all, this book was a waste of my precious time.

P.S. The cover of this book is ridiculous! The guy is sitting there in his UNDERWEAR! What does that have to do with a emotionally stunted CEO--who happens to be BLONDE?

I requested this title on Netgalley because I really liked the blurb and I've read Delancey Stewart books before, but in the end I struggled with it.
I tried to love it, I really did, but somehow... I just couldn't connect to the characters.
Their chemistry was just... non existent.
I kept wanting more and I have to say that my expectations were much, much bigger.
Writing was good but the pace was kinda slow.
It was okay, but nothing more than that.

Oliver would rather use actions than words, "before I could ask another question, Oliver’s mouth was on mine, and his body was pressed up against me, pinning me to the solid wood door behind me." Oliver tries to help with chores around the house, “do you put this shirt in the dryer?” Oliver stood in the ... of the nursery, holding a gauzy blouse I’d worn the night before and looking adorably confused." I liked this book, I loved Oliver.

When I first met Mr. Big, I thought it would be the typical super sexy story of an employee-boss romance. I was wrong...totally wrong. Delancey Stewart wrote SO MUCH MORE! Mr. Big is a love story of TRAGEDY and TENACITY, FEELS and FATE, and DREAMS and DESTINY. This romance wholeheartedly CAPTIVATED ME, calling to my heart and soul, CONSUMING ME from beginning to end. Mr. Big is a fierce fusion of smolder, sweetness, sass, sadness, strength, and swoon.

The hot and heartbreaking hero, Oliver Cody, is one you'll both love and hate. Arrogant, brooding, kind, and temperamental, Oliver is a high-profile sports company CEO. This talented executive is battling demons in and out of the office. Oliver is one walking storm, a mix of dark and light.

Until light eclipsed his shade known as beautiful Holland O'Dell, a name and woman as stunning as the country....

Holland O'Dell was the first spot of color I'd seen in two months.

Beautiful Holland is out to prove she has what it takes to be a smart and powerful woman in a typical man's world of sports. Though part of her plans don't involve falling for her hot boss. I loved this heroine, admiring her drive and resilience.

"You saw me." He stares into my eyes for a second. "Even when you hated me, you saw me."

The excitement had me ON EDGE, biting my nails in both angst and anticipation. The push and pull was HEADY, a force that made my head spin. The torment was the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. The sexual tension lit me on fire. I wanted to shove this heroine and hero together so many times!

This kiss wasn't gentle and soft, it didn't ask for permission. It felt like he was staking a claim, as if he sought to possess me.

This kiss POSSESSED ME, blazing and burning, lighting me on fire. I felt the passion and promise permeate the pages.

"No one ever chose me." Her eyes shut and the tears squeezed past her lashes.

"I do," I whispered into her hair. "I choose you."

ENCHANTING and EMOTIONALLY-CHARGED, Mr. Big makes your head spin and soul soar in one heart-pounding whirlwind of an employee-boss romance. You'll adore the heroine, and both love and loathe the hero in one spellbinding story of surprises. A slow burn of a romance, Mr. Big is PASSION MEETS PROMISE, a push-and-pull of angst-ridden goodness. Mr. Big is BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN, a tale that can't help but twist around your heart.

"Sometimes we're ready for things when we don't think we are."

I received an arc via netgalley to review honestly.

Okay,
How to start off this review honestly without being overly negative. To start with let me first say that I liked this novel, From the hot as hell cover to the alluring and promising synopsis, i was completely invested and couldn't wait to read Mr. Big. When I started the novel I was intrigued. Oliver completely captured my attention.

His wild ways and the need to find himself has led him away from home and the business he is soon to inherit. But when he gets a phone call everything he was trying to find about himself comes crashing down around him and his world completely shatters. What's not to love about Oliver, He's rich but not in the self entitled way. When he comes back he decides he still doesn't want to be a part of the empire his dad and he built. That is until he runs into the fiery personality that is Holland O' Dell.

Okay now for the honesty part. This is where my attention veered off the path. I decided instead of skipping the whole book and marking it as a DNF i would skip chapters until I came to parts that gained my attention. My only issue with these parts had to do with predictability. I knew what was coming before it came.

More honesty,

When i reached the final few chapters....Holy hell was my attention captured! I'm glad I decided to read the few final chapters. So even though I didn't love this novel, I can't say I completely disliked it. I'm somewhere in the middle, thus the reason why i rated it 3 stars.

I probably will go back and give this novel another try. Maybe it was just me and the workings of a reading slump.

Mr. Big or Mr. Dick?

I'm not gonna lie, I requested this book because of the abs.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

The cover is ridiculously hot, but the funny thing is that... it doesn't have anything to do with the book.

Also, that cover fooled me big time. It made me think I was going to get a cocky, arrogant hero, instead, I got a broken, lost one. I liked Oliver, till he fucked up. And right now, I just want to hunt him down and kick his ass.

I liked Holland, Powerpuff Girls notebook and all. She was a bit annoying with her tiny little list and that stuff but I like her better than Oliver. He didn't deserve her.

The first half was great but the second one fell flat and repetitive. The author did tie up all the loose ends at the end of the book, but still, I felt like something was missing. And that something kept me from fully enjoying the story. Also, I felt like the author was heavy on the corporative sport, leaving the romance to the side. So I wish she would have given the romance a little bit more.

Even though I didn't love this story, I can't say I completely dislike it. It had its moments, thus the reason why I gave it 3 stars. And as I have said before, just because I had these issues, doesn't mean you will. So if you want to give it a go, do it and judge for yourself.

Delancey Stewart is a new author for me. I have to be honest and say that she had me at the cover * SWOON.

Oliver thought he had it all - The perfect fiancée, the money, the perfect parents and the perfect job. One day he decides to leave everything behind and go and try to find himself. He was tired of everything being handed to him on a plate. When Oliver heard about the death of his parents, he had to come back and from that moment his world was turned upside down…

“Holland and? I had a lot more in common than I’d realized. Was that why I was so drawn to her? Did my soul recognize a kindred spirit?”

Holland had a rough start in life but she did not let this define her. She was the top of her class and the dream has always been to work at Cody Technology. However, she got a job there but not the one that she deserves…
From that moment Holland is all about business. She's been burned in the past, and she's not about to let anything get in the way of her scoring a high-paying gig at Cody Technology. Especially not a hot mysterious man called Hale.

What will happen when Holland discover that Hale is actually the CEO of Cody Technology? Can Ollie go back to being a CEO?

I really enjoyed the characters and their sweet, sexy and touching story. I liked Ollie and Holland becoming friends and getting to know each other and of course, I LOVED the sexual tension.

“She’d never been granted the knowledge that maybe she was enough, that she was worthy of love. No one ever chose her.”

Title: Mr Big
Author: Delancey Stewart
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 2/5

This was my first book by this particular author and after reading the blurb I couldn't wait to get started but I'm sorry to say I was a little disappointed, I found it rather slow to start with and it didn't really pickup as the story unfolded.

The main protagonists Oliver and Holland both shared similar yet different life experiences which did affect their relationship and I could totally understand why. The storyline itself was good but I feel the way in which it was written didn't do it justice it had the potential to be so much more.

I just wasn't feeling the chemistry between Oliver and Holland sure they had a connection but after the way he treated her on more than one occasion I just didn't get it. Like I said before it was slow paced and to be honest I almost quit reading but soldiered on, the only saving grace was the ending and the fact that it was packaged up nicely with no loose end and the hero managed to redeem himself.

Mr. Big

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I definitely got sucked into reading this by the cover. This was a cute story but a bit frustrating at times. I really just wanted to knock Oliver upside his head.
Oliver recently lost his parents and meets and immediately falls in love with Holland. Their relationship was so back and forth. But the drama is what kept me reading.
I will definitely keep my eye out for more books by Delancey Stewart.

I really enjoyed this story. Oliver had everything you could imagine until his world is destroyed and then realizes his life was a lie. Oliver became overcome with darkness but meeting Holland brought back the light he desperately needed. Holland & Oliver was really good together but there were times that Oliver just drove me insane and it killed me reading how much he hurt Holland especially at a time when she needed him the most. It was an emotional story and I did love the characters and will definitely read another of Delancey's books

Mr. Big was not my first book by Delancey Stewart so I knew that I would most probably like her writing style when I chose to read this book for review. As before in the book “without words” her plot is intriguing and draws the reader deep into the world she set up.

The reader gets the front seat and is never left wondering what is going on. Only when the characters will figure it out too. I truly loved the character development and the depth of the leads.

I might have had a little issue in the beginning to follow the mindset of the male lead but that dissolved the longer the story went on.

At first I was irritated by him because I could not follow the reasons that made him leave his path … his whole life. I think in the end if I would have to name it it would be “boredom” which in addition to the reasons for his return to his old life are not a good combination.

The reader can easily see him spiraling out of control … if there would not be this one thing that intrigues him… (not sure if intriguing is the right word but…)

I loved being able to follow the journey and I am absolutely convinced that I will read a book from this author at any given time if its blurb appeals to me.

Rating: 3.5/5

Not having read any other works by the author before I was really intrigued by the synopsis and sexy cover. Yet, while reading the book there were times when I found myself not really connecting with the characters at all. At the beginning we get to meet business mogul, Oliver Cody, after being away for an extensive amount of time to reflect on his life and what he wants to do for his future, he find himself being summoned back home after finding out that his parents had passed away. His company is at the point of collapse and everyone working under him are treating to quit if he doesn’t get his life back together. The only thing is that Oliver wants nothing to do with the company and is ready to walk away from all of it after he finds out what his parents were hiding from him. His is basically in a dark place and his emotions and decisions are affecting those around him. But just when he was getting ready to leave everything behind, he meets Holland and everything changes for him.

After many years in school and a lot of training, Holland O’ Dell never expected to get the job she was hoping to get at Cody Tech and that completely frustrater her to the point where she needed to get ahead of the game by working on a couple things on the side to show her potential to the CEO of the company. While working for her favorite company should have satisfied her, she is not completely happy with how females are treating in the work force. She has seen gender inequality work its way at Cody Tech and wants to show that she can do just as well of a job as any male in the company would. Needless to say her life takes a different turn when she meet Oliver and without knowing his true identity (since he introduces himself with a different name), she goes out to think that Ollie is the best thing in her life, but when she finds out that he has been lying to her things take a turn for the worse. Holland wants nothing to do with him, but when she finally gets the job that she had worked for so long, she questions whether relationship with the CEO is going to hurt her reputation within the company or if they can truly make it work in the end. After their relationship is put to the test, secrets will get reveal and both of them will have to decide if their love for one another is strong enough to overcome those obstacles or not.

The story is definitely not new, we’ve all at some point have read books about CEOs/millionaire’s falling in love with someone that ends up working in their company, yet when I read this story I started to like the concept as we got to find out a bit more about the characters but there were times when the story felt flat in my opinion. There was a bit of chemistry at the beginning and their connection was playful in a sense and then everything got really serious and the characters had too much going on personally that it suddenly made their relationship non-existent. However, there were times when Oliver was very attentive and protective towards Holland which I liked. After finding out some serious secrets about himself that his parents had kept from him, Oliver is ready to leave his life behind and Holland somehow helps him find his passion again and what he is truly good at.

On the other hand, Holland has had a rough childhood, but she knows what she wants and is ready to prove that she is capable of a lot of great things that would benefit the company and herself. She is intelligent and compassionate, but she is full of doubts that Oliver helps her face. The ending was full of twists and turns that I was not expecting and some of the decisions that the characters make were a bit frustrating to read, but I love a good ending and this story definitely has it. Even though I’m in the middle with this story, it wasn’t bad at all and it’s worth giving it a try. I will most certainly be reading more from the author in the future. :)

I found Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart to be a delightful and sexy story of two lost people who found something in each other. Their journey is not easy, but the story will intrigue you.

Holland O’Dell is ready to take on the world. The business world that is. She is determined to show everyone she can do this and get the job she wants. She may just need a little help to get there. What she does not know is the man that is helping her has a secret.

I loved Holland’s determination. She was strong and very driven. She had so little for so long in her life, but she never gave up. On the other side, Oliver Cody had it all. But he was unprepared for the changes in his life after he leaves to find himself, until he gets the urgent call to come home. But as we got to know him, I found him to be sexy, sweet and caring.

Even with so much contrast between them, they were also very similar in other ways. Both being a bit lost and trying to find their way. One driven and one ready to give up. There were many frustrating moments as well. Holland and Oliver had a lot of back and forth and issues they had to work through.

This story is nothing new, a CEO and the average girl, but overall it was a good story that will keep you drawn in. Holland and Oliver feel an instant attraction, but their journey is not an easy one.

Happy reading!

Oliver has had the rug pulled out from under him and everything he believes. Holland is a new graduate and finds out that even though she is qualified for the job she applied for she is not the right gender for it. She takes a job with the company just to get her foot in the door anyway and works on a program and little does she know Oliver is the one who wrote and developed it. This is just one of the things that brings them closer or at least gives Oliver an excuse to get closer...These two have so much chemistry and it smokes right off the page and keeps the pages turning. I started this book with a preconceived notion and I am really glad it was proved wrong. I really enjoyed this one and will be looking forward to reading more of this author!

I really enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the underlying plot and how the characters grow.

The first half was wonderful and really set up for an exciting storyline; I did feel as though the second half didn’t quite live up to the first half. I did not enjoy the sudden back and forth from both Holland and Oliver, or how one moment Oliver was all for something and then suddenly was going down a completely different path and how Holland was constantly in her head and couldn’t see the truth of her path. Just too much added drama that I feel wasn’t needed and took away from the sincerity of the story in some parts, as well as being able to feel a true character connection.

I completely enjoyed the emotional aspect of this story. There were moments my heart hurt and moments I smiled. There are many heartfelt moments in this story and it comes together beautifully.

This is an enjoyable story that will leave your heart full.

Mr. Big was a good romance story, but I felt it was lacking in some areas. I didn't fall in love with the characters throughout the story and a few times I wanted to toss my kindle. I also feel like the title and the cover image don't exactly fit with the story.

The beginning of the story got my initial interest along with the synopsis, but as the story unfolded I found myself getting annoyed with the main characters. Something drastic happens to Oliver's parents and you don't find out the tragic situation until over halfway through the book. I feel like this detail should have been included in the beginning of the story.

Delancey Stewart does tie up all the loose ends at the end of the book with the plot and subplots, but I feel like I didn't get a deeper understanding of the characters' feelings and flaws to pull for their happily ever after in the story.

Relatable characters and in depth settings and plot gives you the latest release of Delancy Stewart’s, Mr. Big. This light contemporary romance of Ms. Stewarts was a little different take on the inner office romance than what I was expecting, but nonetheless everyone should take a moment and read this joy of a book to conclude their own opinion.

Oliver just can’t seem to find his way in life. You would think he would have everything his heart desires; raised by two loving parents, given a million dollar company after graduation, but he learns a secret and his structure shatters. Leaving him surrounded in darkness and left wondering “What is the meaning of life?”

When he runs into determined Holland who wants to make a name for herself in a “man's-world”, at his company, Oliver starts to picture his life differently. Can he find a way out of his darkness that he has created with the help of Holland?

I was drawn in by the cover and synopsis of this book but to be honest, I felt the story was missing something. The relationship between Oliver and Holland was a little rocky but I will admit the way they come together had my turning the page for more. I wanted to know what happens when she discovers who “Hale” truly was… and boy, was I glad I hung in there. Mr. Big was a delight to read. I will say also, that Oliver took awhile to atone for his ways, nor finding himself which was a little annoying. I was expecting a different path for him but that is the author’s way to keep you on your toes. Overall, it wasn’t the most amazing romance, however, it is still worth a great read for a soul searching romance.

Mr Big by Delancey Stewart left me with mixed feelings. I finished it mid-August. That’s one of the few I managed to read this summer, along with Traitor in her arms. But I just couldn’t bring myself to review it. I was seriously confused.

♥ The story ♥

Mr Big tells the story of Oliver Cody, the CEO of the company Holland works in. He’s going through a hard time lately and while he deals with it, Holland is working long hours to achieve her goals and get her dream job. Little does she know, she’s actually working for the guy she just called an arrogant jerk at the company coffeeshop.

♥ What I liked ♥

I liked how Oliver was instantly intrigued by Holland. Love at first sight kind of stories are a bit tricky for me because if it’s done in an unrealistic way, I can’t get into it. Here, it was good.
I love office-romances and this book was one of those stories, so yes!
Overall, the love story between Oliver and Holland was cute.

♥ What I liked less ♥

When I started reading, I seriously thought immediately I wouldn’t like this book. The beginning was a bit confusing. I think it was going for a mysterious start but I didn’t feel intrigued, I was more frustrated and not in a good way. Moreover, the hero was whining during the whole Prologue, so it put me off a bit. But, it got better!
Even though it was a really cute story, I really couldn’t connect to the characters.
The pace was a bit too slow for me and I felt like there were uninteresting events.
Sometimes the hero had such annoying reactions.

To conclude, there was some good and some bad in this book. Unfortunately, at times I was too annoyed with the bad to enjoy the good.
